P30 Pro Rooted (Kernel panic problem) - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

There was finally a service to unlock P30 pro bootloader without blcode though, I took the leap and scraped a few different guides on here.
In the end of the story i got it working /w safteynet but at times when i try to open "any" app it will lock up and freeze for alittle (2 seconds tops) and then reboot
I'm running 9.1.0.260(C431E4R2P2) /w Magisk (Zygisk + universal fix for safteynet)
I can't really make anything of my tombstones even though they mostly trying to say the same thing but me not being able to find anything online about the "backtrace".
I've attatched a zip file of my 8 current tombstones if you have any info then please post a reply

Lock Pattern changed on its own, help sought as no longer able to unlock phone

Hi all,
Greetings first as this is my first post on XDA and appreciate all you guys contribution all the way through here. Back to the topic I got my X9 using in good condition unless of low remaining space yet some weeks ago during my normal use the machine suddenly froze and reboot and after that though I am able to unlock on the first boot screen, by using the same unlock pattern I cannot enter my desktop and it always tell the pattern is incorrect. Yet no matter how many trial I did it didn't force me to exponential-time-wait. I googled for some time and learnt that the same problem happened on samsung S7 and some nexus device (those HTC made ones?) So at this point I am wondering if:
- there is any chance I can unlock my phone without data loss? i tried "find your phone" on ADM yet over-riding lock screen seems no longer work;
- The machine is clean as-is from the factory without any s-on/off or unlock of bootloader; under current circumstance am I still able to install TWRP and get a back up being dumped? (seems I can dump a copy and use the pc script to look into the gesture-key, or simply delete the gesture.key from TWRP / aroma manager);
- Any other alternatives I can do? I really want to keep the data inside as there were some precious photo as well as some chat-record that is not being backup to the g-drive;
thanks in advance =)

Mixed Results when ROOTING

Hi Gents,
ok so we all know by now that waiting 7 days unlocks the OEM option for the N8 950F, i want to root, my concern is that i have been reading and see that results are mixed, i have seen that flashing a custom FW has soft bricked some phones and you will have to flash back to official FW and wait yet again for 7 days for OEM to show up in dev options....
what i want to know is whats the sure fire way to get it to work (ROOTand CFW) because i dont wanna end up losing the OEM option and then have to restore OFW?
please let me know your thoughts and what you did to have a successful first time flash, my note model is N950F/DS.

You don't gain anything anymore from rooting that you used to. The phones are already lightning fast.

That's cause no one knows exactly why it disappears yet or has a valid fix for it. So far it seems like people are having luck with krabman's method.

In the past, people mainly rooted for speed tweaks & themeing but those aren't the only reason for root. Speed tweaks & themeing were never the main reasons why I rooted.
Like many I spent time in jail waiting for my OEM unlock. How I spent that time was trying to work around not having root and it was a miserable failure. When talking about the need for root I think it's best that the conversation first be understood to be subjective. A person that doesn't do anything that requires root will feel that it is unnecessary, those that do will consider it vital as a means to get where they're going.
There are many, many, people who said "you don't need to do that" in regards to getting root on these devices who went down in flames. No timer on OEM unlock and not a big deal, you try again until you get it right. We get one try and getting it wrong means you have reset your timer and you're waiting a week. Wait that week and you get one try, failure means another week. A person can repeat that cycle as many times as they want, I'd suggest going all in the first time because no one knows exactly which steps are not needed yet although we have ruled a few out. One thing that is apparent is once you have the first rom install in the rest can be done following normal rom installation procedure so long as they're clean flashes. I haven't tried any dirty flashes but for the same rom I'm thinking it will work, of course when the time comes I might be proven wrong. I'm hoping someone else will get there first and I can take advantage of their experience.
That being said in general the process begins by flashing TWRP in odin. You must leave odin and go directly to TWRP, failure to stop the boot at recovery means a certain binaries error and a week wait. Once you are in recovery you must stay there until you have finished installing a rom that has been de-knoxed. Pay attention to holding the buttons on the phone while you start the TWRP flash as described in the TWRP thread. If you untick reboot in odin then the only way out is to hold volume down/ power which will tell the phone to reboot into system. You must then quickly switch to volume up/bix/power during a small window in order to get the phone to go to recovery. If you miss it nothing can stop the phone from continuing to boot and you have just got a week wait before your next try. If you don't untick restart you can try the same thing when odin automatically reboots the phone after the flash. If you miss it you will get the binaries error and be waiting a week. People have missed it both ways. There is a reason that the TWRP instructions specifically state to prepare odin, hold the vol up/bix/power buttons and continue holding them while you press the button in odin and keep right on holding those buttons all the way through until the phone boots into TWRP. This makes it a sure thing, the other way you may or may not succeed. Lastly we've proven you don't need to remove your SIMs on subsequent rom installs but it remains a question with the first install as there are conflicting reports. If it were me I'd pull them and not put them back until I was fully up and running on the other side. You will need to pull at least Sim 2 in order to put in the micro SD with your rom, verity, and root firmware for use in TWRP no matter what. Feeling frisky and you want to leave Sim 1 in then please report your results in the OEM unlock thread.
So... To install a rom you will begin by following the TWRP instructions to the letter including the format all the way through the process until the end. Some will say you don't need to flash the no-verity, ordinarily I'd agree with them as it is flashed as a part of both the SU and magisk flash but in this case we know that following those instructions in exacting detail works as a first step but not doing so has been a failure for many. Because few have followed the same steps plus or minus a detail from the known working method we don't know exactly which things are unneeded so if it's me I would just follow the known working method. As always those wanting to advance our knowledge by trying something else should report their results in the OEM unlock thread. When you reach the end of the TWRP installation instructions you will remain in recovery and flash your rom and then factory reset. Then flash either magisk or SU again depending on which rom and which root method you're using. Once root has been reflashed you can go ahead and boot to system. Finish the setup before you put the sims back in the phone.
There is a longer throw the kitchen sink method in the OEM unlock thread for those that wish to search, that is what I would do if I wanted absolutely no risk as it seems to work without fail. I've done what I describe here a good ten or more times now as I was the first reported rom install here using the first method and I've been flashing away since then and dropping some of those original steps as I went. I'm thinking it should work for others too but I cant prove it until someone does it. It may be you need the kitchen sink for the first flash, I simply cant say because I would have to go stock to try and I'm not harboring much of a hankering to do that. This being XDA and we being adults please understand that I'm sharing the information based on actual practice on my own phone but there is no guarantee. You make your choices and what happens, happens.

Mediapad M3 Lite 8 - Bootloader Unlock Guide

Brand new here, looking to unlock, root and then flash a standard Android build or custom DeGoogled ROM for my new device. I was looking to find a way to unlock the bootloader to start and found that Huawei have stopped giving out unlock codes and that the info around unlocking wasn't great so I made a note of all my steps as below.
Please let me know if this works for you and if you have any issues, please also read and follow the guidelines carefully as there are lots of things like using all the applications as an administator and changing directories that are important.
I am also looking for a way to install TWRP or another recovery thing on this device so I don't brick it, as I want to root the tablet and muck around with it. Has anyone got any experience of doing this successfully and does anyone have links to methods to create a cloned backup of the standard OS?
This was done on a brand new Mediapad M3 Lite 8 (the Wifi version, not LTE) with Android 7.0, EMUI 5.1, CPN-W09, build CPN-W09C100B251 - BUT will probably work on the LTE version, the non-lite version and the 7 and 10 inch models.
IMPORTANT: This costs money and is done through the DC Unlocker tool, it costs 4 credits (4 euros/dollars) for the Mediapad M3 Lite 8 (Wifi, not LTE) as Huawei now do not offer the bootloader code AT ALL . I have copied/streamlined the steps below that were found as guides originally at the dc unlocker website, check their site guides to find originals.
Step 1 - Developer Options enable
Go to settings, about tablet, tap build number 7 times to unlock developer options
Go to developer options, enable OEM unlock, enable USB debugging
Step 2 - Enable manufacture mode
If your phone has a dialpad, enter dial pad code *#*#2846579#*#*
IF your phone doesn't have a dialpad, go to calculator and enter ()()2846579()()=
This willl take you to a developer menu, select "Project Menu", "Background settings", "USB ports settings", "Manufacture mode".
Step 3 - Install drivers
Connect your Android device to your PC with a usb cable and either install Hisuite from the connected drive that will attach, or download it from the Huawei website by searching for Huawei Hisuite and going to their official website.
To check this has worked, go to Device Manager on your PC and look for Modems - there should be an entry called Android Adapter Modem - if this is not present try disconnecting/reconnecting your device and restarting Hisuite.
Step 4 - Read bootloader code
Download the latest DC Unlocker tool from dc-unlocker dot com and extract it, then AS AN ADMINISTRATOR (right click and Run as Administrator) run the client.exe (was called dc-unlockerclient2.exe)
Click Select Manufacturer dropdown and change to Huawei Phones, not Modems, press the magnifier/search icon at bottom left and your phone info should be found. This should also
Step 5 - Buy credits from the dc unlocker site as a new user, try 4 credits first and then login with these new user details in the dc unlocker application on your PC, this will show your credits and the phone connected as well as the cost. Click the Unlocking icon on the top right and click Read botloader code to get your code. Make a note of this/copy it somewhere.
Step 6 - Go back to the folder that dc unlocker is in
Go into the unzipped folder and then copy the location of this folder by clicking on the address bar in File Explorer and copying this location, you'll have something similar to
C:\Users\ExampleUser\Downloads\dc-unlocker2client_1.00.1403
Step 7 - Turn off your phone and turn it back on holding the Vol down and Power buttons to enter fastboot mode, connect your device to your PC
Step 8 - Open cmd by searching for cmd in windows, right click cmd and open it as administrator, you'll get the black and white windows terminal
In the terminal type "cd C:\Users\ExampleUser\Downloads\dc-unlocker2client_1.00.1403" (or the path for the latest version of the dc unlocker you have downloaded) without the quotation marks and with YOUR directory path as described above. The command cd just changes directory to the one you give. Your terminal should now show the above directory as the path in which it now sends commands, i.e the > mark is now displayed after the directory path we copied
Step 9 - Type "adb devices" without quotation marks to start the adb daemon
Step 10 - Type "fastboot devices" without quotation marks and you should see a device number with the word fastboot next to it.
Step 11 - Now type "fastboot oem unlock" without the quotation marks, followed by a space and then your bootloader unlock code i.e
fastboot oem unlock XYZ123456789
Step 12 - Your device should show a screen asking you to accept the unlock, then onto another screen where you should press the power key to continue onto booting your factory reset unlocked device.
Step 13 - You might have to disconnect the USB cable and reboot your device now, and you'll set up the device from scratch again - but now the bootloader unlocked, allowing you to load stuff like TWRP if you can find the right version - which I can't right now! :good:
I have also now been able to install TWRP by using the TWRP image specifically for BAH-W09 found on page 17 of the "TWRP (greatslon mod)" in the link provided by pitapart
thread. I can't post links yet which is why I'm typing to source....
I have been trying to flash SuperSU using the latest 2.82 zip but keep getting the error "Extracting Ramdisk - Failure, aborting", which is the same error I'm getting when trying to root using SRKtool, both the 2.1 universal version and the 2.0 Huawei version, using option 1 for Mate P8 or option 6 for systemless.
I've downloaded a system root version of SuperSU (google "supersu system mode", first XDA thread) and flashed using TWRP, it says it has installed but the SuperSU app doesn't show root, and typing "su" in TWRP console doesn't show I can do commands in superuser mode. Can anyone help?
I recently have been purchased the LTE version of this device. Although I cannot try this out currently, I probably will in the future so please keep us updated about your experiments for reference!

I have my Mediapad M3 Lite rooted by magisk.
I followed the unlock guide and unlocked the bootloader.
I couldn't find my exact firmware I downloaded the most recent one I could find.
I extracted the boot.img with Huawei Update extractor and copied it to my phone.
I download and installed latest magisk app.
I opened the magic app-> install -> install -> patch the boot image file which I then flashed through fastboot.
I then opened magisk -> install -> Direct install.
Everything works but like me you take a risk in not using the exact boot.img.
I tried and installed TWRP which worked but the volume keys would let me run the script I was trying to rebrand the phone. In the end it isn't necessary to root the phone.

Very bad idea and advice:
- people often uses wrong firmware or wrong version;
- a boot from a different version can be incompatible, you can be sure only too late!
The right thing is to boot to TWRP then in the console, using "dd" command do a copy of original boot!

Very poor reply, you did not read my post properly, just jumped in to demonstrate your superciliousness. No advice was given and you missed the word risk. More productive use of replying would have been to include the actual command required anyway which is:
dd if=/dev/block/boot-device/by-name/boot of=boot.img
Helping wasn't the point your trying to make.

A post like your IS an advice because people read and follow it. What is wrong is not that you write or my opinion but people behaviour
I read the "risk" word but a lot of people would not. This is also the reason I don't wrote the dd command: search and learn! Most of the messages you read here are of people who have broken their own terminal because just followed a post like your, without knowing what are doing.

I see in your first screenshot the fingerprint-id menuentry is gone.... does your fingerprint-sensor working properly ?
I rooted my mediapad m3 lite 10 in the same way, but my boot-image is the right version. ( installed is BAH-W09C100B257, firmware downloaded with the huawei firmware finder app is exactly BAH-W09C100B257) . My fingerprint menuentry is gone too.....and the sensor doesnt work (with the working registered fingerprint before the rooting)

I did not have the fingerprint option activated so I checked it and found my sensor also does not work with the patched boot.img on. I could search and find the fingerprint menu entry but could not get it to operate. Reflashing the stock boot.img returned the sensor menu and fingerprint to normal but of course you lose root. More searching for solutions required.
Also I'm using the TWRP-3.2.1-bah-20180627.img recovery. The volume keys don't work so the hurupdater script I'd like to use aborts. Anyone got any other recovery for a CPN-W09C128B006?.

Did you ever get and answer to your question about cloning or getting the original factory images. I've been trying on and off for 9months. I have unlocked the bootloader and backed up using TWRP (from the 10inch model), but when I relocked the bootloader everything fell apart... unstable boot loops, etc. not sure if I had to wipe recovery I burned with TWRP or what. Also TWRP does not back-up the data partition I think due to encryption (from other posts I read). My goal was to rebrand a pile of the Chinese version tablets I have to US because we use them in our product, and the US are not available, so rebranding would give me more time before to find a replacement. Any clues would help!!!

You have to use the calculator in landscape mode (turn on auto-rotate) and then the bracket buttons will appear.
So I finally got around to installing this on my stock version. I found 16GB was too limiting and I was hoping to use the SD card to expand the space so I could use it for a few more years. I purchased the code from DC_unlocker.
A couple of things I noticed while following the guide. To enter fastboot mode, holding down the volume down and power button doesn't seem to work. What you to do is while it's off, hold down the volume down button and plug in the microusb cable, while continuing to hold it down. You could also enter fastboot using an ADB command.
Also I couldn't wipe anything before installing the new roms, I got error messages. I'm not sure what that means. Anyways after installing android 9, it seemed to take a very long time to first boot. The graphic animation is going, but I wasn't sure if it was working so I hard reset once, tried to boot again and then waited again, hard reset again and put it down thinking I would have to look into the error messages and when I came back it was up and running.
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
A few days ago, I followed the instructions unlocking the bootloader of my Mediapad M3 lite 8 (CPN-W09) and sure enough, I successfully unlocked the bootloader. However I've now run into another problem - I cannot get the FRP on the tablet to be unlocked!
Nothing I've tried seems to get it to unlock. The (only) Google account used on the tablet has been my own, and it's been no problem signing back into my account when factory resetting the tablet. One time when investigating it, after a factory reset it did say that it was "restricted" but again, adding my Google account details on the setup was no issue, but even after then deleting the account (which, if I'm right, should set FRP to "unlocked") when I enter into fastboot mode it still shows FRP as locked! And it shows it no matter what I do, wherever the Google account is "active" on the tablet or not, and the last four or five times I've did a factory reset with both data and cache partition wipes done and nothing budges. I think I'm at a lost cause here - the "OEM Unlock" option in the developer settings is totally greyed out. ?
Of course, the tablet is still "usable" but there is no way to carry out special functions after unlocking the bootloader, like rooting, install TWRP, custom ROM etc. and it just kinds of stands in a limbo.
I've tried searching here on XDA and the web in general, high and low, to see if this problem has affected anyone else, and strangely it doesn't seem to happen to anyone else!
For the record, I've also tried hardreset.info's FRP unlock tool which claimed to be successful, but it clearly wasn't!
I hope someone out there might have a solution to my woe - as I think I've partially crippled by M3 Lite 8 otherwise by trying to unlock the bootloader.

You could try to lock bootloader back, and before to unlock bootloader again, first just unlock OEM .

I did try this at the time, and I couldn't get it to work. But I had another try at it yesterday and I managed to get the bootloader locked again, toggle OEM unlock to "off" and unlocked the bootloader once more and it worked!
So after doing this, I tried to get TWRP 3.3.1-1 flashed but it would stay frozen on the screen - I then read that I needed to install TWRP 3.2.0-0 first, install the August 2019 Lineage 16 firmware, then go back to the bootloader, flash TWRP 3.3.1-0, check everything was OK and then return to bootloader to finally flash TWRP 3.3.1-1. Success! I then flashed the latest Lineage OS 17.1 firmware along with Open Gapps (ARM64, Android 10, nano) and so far everything has worked OK. I just need to download all my apps again, but I'm sure it will give my CPN-W09 a new lease of life!
I used to do some rooting previously with Android handsets in the past, but the last time was two years ago (rooting & upgrading an Alcatel handset to Android 6.0) and FRP was new to me, throwing me off.
I've donated some Euros to you as an appreciation for your work & advice. Merci beaucoup!

maybe these? looks pretty old but still working? Oo

Phone bricked, won't turn on. Help please!

Hi. So I decided it was time to move to EMUI 9 and after looking at various posts on here I believe the easiest way was to you EMUI Flasher to flash the ROM (coming from 8.1 rooted).
The phone restarted and went to EMUI installer but after 10% or so I got an error. It asked if I wanted to go to erecovery or reboot the device (I think). As far as I was concerned it was only checked that the ROM was OK and hadn't installed anything so I selected reboot. Now the phone won't come on. I've tried holding the power button for an inordinate period of time but it's not happening.
Is there anything I can do?
EDIT - I've tried a different USB port on my PC and can see something in the device manager now ---- Kedacom USB Device > Android Bootloader Interface ---- which gives me a sliver of hope this can be fixed.
EDIT2 - I could send img files through fastboot all day (phone was recognised even though it wouldn't turn on) but couldn't fix this. Gave DC Phoenix a try but no luck there either. Think I've killed it.
EDIT3 - Just in case anyone ever comes across this. I tried below but nothing would work so I contacted someone on Telegram who said the only option was to open the phone up and short it out. No way I was attempting that so I eventually contacted Huawei UK and told them it had died during an update, never let on that it was MY fault! Anyway, they sent out a prepaid envelope to send to a their repair partner. I won't name them here but they have terrible reviews on Yelp so I was a bit apprehensive. I know the phone arrived with them last Friday as I checked the post tracking but I never heard anything from them. Today out of the blue my phone has come back to me in full working order, repaired under warranty! Considering there was only one thing I was really using root for and it was only a slight convenience, I think I'll just leave it as is.
Are you able to flash anything in fastboot?
Are you able to boot to recovery via fastboot? Disconnect the cable after you give the reboot recovery command in fastboot.
You may be able to flash each component of emui, system, vendor, oeminfo, kernel etc. Seems that it's missing most or all of it.
Bootloader sounds like it's intact.
Btw. The easiest way to update to emui would be to wait for an OTA from Huawei.
Personally I don't see a point, pie is not as efficient as Oreo nor does it have any features to merit an upgrade, in fact you would lose features (4k zooming, functional TWRP)

Galaxy Note 9 stuck at bootloop after update Magisk

I was happily use my Note 9 N960N(Korean set) after I rooted it about a year ago. Few days ago I saw a new ver of Magisk(old ver 17.2 flashed w/TWRP) at Magisk manager and wanted to update but hesitate. I backup a few important file like whatsapp, SMS & contact list before I carry on further. Today I decided to update the Magisk and my fear was right, after it reboot my Note 9 stuck at "Samsung" logo. I let it there initially and after a while it remains at same place. I tried to switch it off by press the power button but no response. It won't switch off after I tried, 10, 20 and 30 seconds. I found out there is a way to reboot it by holding "power + volume down". I successfully got it boot to recovery to TWRP.
I thought it maybe the Magisk was corruptted during update so I download the Magisk zip v19.3. Then I booted to TWRP and installed the Magisk zip. I reboot the Note 9 after Magisk installed. Again I was stuck at Samsung logo. I thought maybe the sequence was not correct; beside the Magisk there maybe need few more so I followed the root sequence(skip root); 1. Magisk 2. no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 3. RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2
Same problem, I stuck at Samsung logo. As early problem, I couldn't switch it off by pressed the power switch. I have to reboot to TWRP and use its interface to power off the phone. I have new problem this time; once I pressed the power button to power on the phone, it will goes to TWRP straight away. Tried few times and it remain the same problem. The last action what i did is flashed a new TWRP v3.3.1-0-crownlte and it didn't help either.
My Note 9 has 2 problems;
1. go to TWRP recovery straight after press power button to power up the phone.
2. stuck at samsung logo after user TWRP to reboot.
There is one more thing I didn't pay attention previously, the "mount" in the TWRP what is supposed to mount? It "mount" the SD card when it last to flash zip files.
Appreciated anyone can helps, thanks.
Try to flash different kernel. Then flash magisk again. Although I doubt it could help, but your phone has bricked already, so worth to try.
If it's really brick, I'll consider to flash it "pie" since my one still "oreo". Any chance just reflash it with oreo again with odin but retain data?

Phone will factory reset after flash stock regardless odin or smartswitch. Of course you can still flash oreo. But flashing stock should be the last resort.

You did mention to flash a different kernel, what will it be the most suitable?
I found a suggested solution to try; flash(with oreo, same ver) with odin and check files except at CSC section choose "home_csc" instead normal "csc". Reflash was succeeded, in a way.. It did break something though.. My note 9 is able to boot normal but was stopped at lock screen(pattern lock) which I was set to lock my phone. Now it's lock screen loop even though I draw the pattern correctly. It just refuses to unlock. I use Samsung "findmymobile" try to unlock it and unsuccessful; the app cannot find the phone. It prompted "offline"! It's strange, I can see my carrier and wifi are working. I can call the preset emergency numbers to call. I used another phone to call and it can receive the call. It can receive whatsapp message. I tried google and it works. The google app is able to find my phone. I have no idea why my samsung account won't work. Now I'm clueless.. :crying:

it's a Samsung stupid lock as your Note 9 has not fully booted you will not be able to find it via my Samsung.. There is a bug even if you draw the correct pattern the phone will not unlock it's a bug this has been covered when the Note first came out as the first or second update caused this issue! i did read somewhere there is a way around it, but this was a year or so ago you need to check Samsung official forums for the pattern bug fix check Samsung forums USA it has been covered in-depth over there!

Hi N1NJATH3ORY, I did google around the screenlock loop problems and most of them done with 1) simple reboot 2) boot to safe mode 3) use "samsung "findmymobile". A most common solution; "wipe". A few issues raised at Samsung forum but not helpful; "call Samsung support".. There was an interesting article which suggested the problem is from google itself. Here is the link; https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/12/12/google-pixel-pin-lock-screen-loop-help/
"If the encryption of the "Synthetic Password Key blob", which needs to be decrypted in order for the unlock process to be resolved, is not able to retrieve a stored decryption key if it was corrupted." from the article. I'm not sure if this is the cause but from logic point of view it's possible. I believe the bloody Samsung knew this problem since day one but because it's not a"common" issue Samsung just swipe under the carpet.
What I did on my note 9 last action was reflash the oreo, if in the process of flashing the "Synthetic Password Key blob" has been wiped out then it may explain this screenlock loop problem, which I hope not to happen. I'll be screwed if it did. :crying:
I'll wait its battery to drain out to see what happen even though I doubt if any change..
As expected, the drained out of battery did not help, my note 9 remains locked. The only way is to try out new method and with high risk which will wipe out my data. Fortunately the new method work! Not only it overwrite the lock screen loop and also disable the google device lock.(One of the method I tried during my lockscreen loop which is useless. It creates an extra problem on top of the problem) I got all my data intact and allow me to do all backup. :highfive:
summary: update Magisk is not a full proof. The risk is 50% it will brick the phone. My advise is to backup every dan internal data before finger press the Magisk "update" especially it remaps the image! Manager APK is okay to update. I learned from the hard way and almost lost the whole dan data in my Note. You have been warned!
