I think I remember @JoeGatto said he did it no problem. Maybe he'll chime in

I asked the same thing in another thread, and also pmed JoeGatto, he did reply "factory resetting and flashing the stock Oreo ROM".
I saw one of your posts advising not to flash bootloader or gpt, will flashing these cause errors?

I managed to downgrade!
I basically followed the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g6/how-to/guide-faster-updated-guide-to-root-t3914228
Except I didn't flash gpt.bin and bootloader.img.
Hey @Ragarianok can you help me please? I want to downgrade and relock the bootloader of my moto g6 also. I would appreciate if you gave me your discord or something. Thanks!
The easiest thing to do would be to unlock the bootloader, flash recovery, and just install an Oreo rom (I recommend AOSP Extended) and Google apps
you could just flash an 8.x oero rom so there isn't anything to "downgrade" in the traditional sense. Also these Moto phones need sGSI and not just GSI , i think so.
tnx

I do not want to install a custom rom/ AOSP, I just want to downgrade and then relock the bootloader in the downgraded version.
Hy their!
The Locked Bootloader made it impossible to install Custom Roms, but I want do Downgrade the Huawei P10Lite from Oreo and Emui 8 to get from DC Unlocker an Bootloader Unlock Code! And Root the Phone to install Custom Roms than.
So is their Any Chance to Downgrade.... Normaly it should be able to Download Older Firmwire to HARDRESET Directory and Than just HARD Reset it....?!?!? Could this Work?
And if yes where can I find an image of the Oldest P10Lite Rom Please to do this!!
Thanks a lot
Ps: I have an Samsung S5 KLTE with AOSP Extended and it's one of Best Roms with Adaway and customizing features like RR_Rom 7.x

Not possible, you already answered yourself because you know you can't downgrade the bootloader and you can't run Oreo using the Pie bootloader.. If you're on an F version of the phone then you should be able to flash twrp and then flash whatever you want I'm assuming.

If you want to downgrade from Pie - N950FXXS"7"DSG1 to Oreo - N950FXXS"6"DRE2 you CANNOT do it because the bootloader ver "7" won't allow itself to be downgraded to lower versions "6",5,4,3,2, and 1! You're stuck on PIE!
(The Number in Quotes is the bootloader version. )
If you root your phone you can try to see if the custom oreo rom will boot with bootloader version "7" by asking and searching in the custom rom (that you choose to run) thread.
Root does come with a few cons like permanently tripped knox, No Samsung pay, and no knox related apps so read up on it.
(You will lose secure folder and Samsung health if you go back to stock firmware! But if you stay rooted and on a custom rom then you'll have access to Samsung health and secure folder (Devs found a way to get secure folder working! Check the note 8 roms forums for info on it.)
Edited.....

Read @BluePhnx post.. I already told you that you can't downgrade but you can root and flash twrp and then flash whatever roms that the devs have made for bootloader version 7! There's really no going back!
Before trying anything on my phone thought I wanna ask first.
I have an N960F, Exynos obviously; but I want to downgrade from Android 10 Q. I learned that I cannot flash official firmware via Odin that is based on an older bootloader version, say Oreo or Pie.
Would unlocking the bootloader change this case and allow me to flash Oreo again?

Sadly, no. Sorry man, the unlocking of the bootloader only allows for non-official binaries to be installed, such as TWRP, but nothing will let you go backward in bootloader versions. Sorry man
post up your entire firmware version so we can look around for ya and hopefully find a pie firmware for ya
