The issue of Bluetooth devices not connecting and speakers dropping out was a hot topic when the 4.2 OTA came out, and to the best of my knowledge, the 4.2.1 update did nothing to fix it. Since then, I've read dozens for reported "Bluetooth fixes" for various Nexus devices (and I've tried most of them), but this is still a major unresolved issue for a lot of people. My gamepad and mouse refuse to hold a connection since the update, so after banging my head against the wall for a few weeks I reverted to 4.1.2.
Has anyone found an actual fix for the Nexus 7, or have there been any reports of when Google might respond (I've read several reports that Google tech support claims to not even be aware that a problem exists)?
For the record, I've tried the following:
- Fix permissions
- Disable all devices, clear Bluetooth Share cache... reconnect devices
- Perform a full wipe and install the 4.2.1 OTA.
- Install custom ROMs or kernals
- Disable wifi when establishing the initial device conection.

I also had big bluetooth issues in stock 4.2.1. I have since changed quite a few things on my nexus7. Somewhere along the way, something I did seems to have fixed the issue. I didn't do any tests along the way, so I can't tell with any certainty which changes had any affect. All I can say is stock 4.2.1 bluetooth was completely and utterly broken, and what I have now doesnt have any bluetooth issues that I've noticed. I am able to stream music over Pandora (WiFi) and listen to it over bluetooth now without any interruptions.
So, here's a brief description:
CM10.1 nightlies + gapps, using the default kernel, no over/underclocking or anything like that.
wifi is always turned on, gps is always on, nfc is always turned off
About half of the gapps and a few of the default apps I have disabled. I have no proof to back it up, but I believe constant syncing and phoning home from these apps may have something to do with the issue. Calender, Exchange Services, Face Unlock, Calender Sync, One Time Init, Partner Setup, Play Movies & TV, and Play music are all the apps I disabled.
I also purposefully avoid other apps that run constantly chewing up battery and sending data to the internet like the facebook app.
Nope, nothing fixed it for me, aside from downgrading to 4.1 (which uses the Bluez bluetooth stack, rather than the Broadcom one in 4,2)
It's possible that CyanogenMod 4,2 (CM10.1) uses Bluez, and not Broadcom. I asked in the dev section, but nobody knows it seems.

The goat said she was a virgin, but you never know.
I'd be very interested to see exactly how widespread this issue is. Are the people reporting issues the small minority, or are they just the only ones attempting to use a bluetooth device? If you're reading this and are running 4.2.1, but have never connected a Bluetooth device, please try to do so in the near future and post your results. Based on the number of forums claiming that Bluetooth is flat-out" broken, I'm thinking that most people don't even realize that it's a problem.

I have had success with an old Dell XPS bluetooth mouse. Scrolling was fast and paired immediately.
No luck with Plantronics M100 headset. Nexus 7 could see it but no joy...
Maybe we need a list of what really works after 4.2.1?
More bluetooth

Got my N7 2 weeks ago. Never had a chance to run on anything but 4.2.1 since first thing it updated. My bluetooth is not usable. If trying to stream video the audio is so bad that you cannot decipher anything. With music it is better but will start stuttering and becomes unusable. Same devices work fine with my Verizon Galaxy Nexus running 4.1.1.

I for one was completely unaware of the 4.2 bluetooth problem until I got a pair of bluetooth stereo earbuds from Audiosynq for Christmas. I got them paired and working, but the audio kept dropping out, only to come back a few seconds later. Very annoying when you are trying to listen to music But the earbuds worked flawlessly when I used them with my Samsung Galaxy Player running Gingerbread. That was my first clue that something was amiss....
Same stuttering for me with my jambox. Clearing blue share data helps it and seems to keep the problem away for a while.

I've been using Paranoid Android with my Bluetooth controllers and my new Motorola stereo headset.
Honestly I expected problems with the audio and have not. In fact I'm very impressed by the range. I can pretty much walk anywhere in my house without the music skipping. Of course this is streaming Pandora... so the bitrate may be lowered for streaming but whatever. Still impressed.
I'm not saying Bluetooth doesn't have its problems with 4.2 but perhaps a wipe will fix it. They did change Bluetooth protocols and there could be some remnants leftover screwing with us.
My moga controller had lag but I found that problem being caused by the Moga Pivot app. Using the universal driver fixed it right up.

I had the same problems with stuttering Bluetooth over audio, then I thought it was fixed with the latest update - but I was wrong.
In my case at work I have a very weak WiFi signal, and it drops in and out and that's when my Bluetooth over Audio plays up. If I disable WiFi it's better a lot better but still not 100%. I get better results in the same environment with my Desire HD running ICS than the Nexus, which is quite disappointing

People should click the star and leave it at that, rather than whinging, complaining, and making **** up. But yeah, 620+ stars on that bug.
4.1.2 works, had to go to that
Right now the biggest issue plaguing Nexus 5 Oreo ROMs is bluetooth call audio. amaces describes the issue here, but in summation, BT audio is sent at 16 KHz or higher, and that is causing the call audio on Nexus 5 to become robotic and glitchy.
amaces states in the post that this can only be done with hardcoded changes, but I'm curious if one of the big audio overhauls available for Magisk can override the default bluetooth settings to correct this issue.
It's just very frustrating because I've been wanting to make the switch to Oreo for months due to a number of features that Nougat does not have, but this is getting in the way of an upgrade. My car has an onboard system for taking calls and it uses Bluetooth, and if I go to Oreo I have to use the completely awful hands-free speaker it has.
Alternatively I could get a new phone, but lord knows there's always a complication no matter what model you get, and I tend to prefer the devil I know over the devil I don't.
Can anyone confirm as to whether or not android auto wireless is available on the note 9?
If so, are there any problems you've noticed with it?
What head units are you connecting it to, and what is your overall opinion about it's performance?
I just tried it on my Pioneer 4400nex and it didn't work. Is it supposed to work? Maybe I'm missing a setting or something. I know I read that it can work with oreo but the oems would have make it work through a software update.
I tried it on my Kenwood that worked flawlessly with my pixel 2XL and it's a no go. I was crossing my fingers it would've been enabled. Waiting now for Android Pie
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing some odd issues getting bluetooth to work on my BMW Series 5, 2011. I've already used multiple devices over time, including most iPhones, Xiaomi, Pixel 2XL, etc, without any issues. My Note 9 is able to find my car's bluetooth device and apparently connects just fine, however, after requesting a couple of permissions it seems to struggle to maintain connection and then seems to keep frequently connecting/disconnecting.
I've already tried using a different "AVRCP Version" under Developer options, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. This is my first Samsung device, are there any frequent issues I may not be familiar with?
SM-N960F - Exynos
No root - up to date software
Cheers

Try to remove previously paired devices from your car, including this one and repair it.
You should leave the BT dev settings on their default as the phone is choosing the best based on the car's system.
Try also to go to Location's settings, improve location and disable always scanning of BT and Wifi.

Thank you, but unfortunately it didn't help. I even though it was due to being BT 5.0, but the Pixel 2 XL which I used before also had BT 5.0 and worked flawlessly. So weird
You might have to get a new car to go with the new phone

Don't be that person lol thats not helpful. I had these same issues when I owned the LG V20 and the only thing people did was mock my Bluetooth issues and told me to buy a new truck.

Lol... I'm sorry. If it makes you feel better I am having similar issues with my 2017 Audi A6. I have to constantly turn off my Bluetooth and turn it back on every time I get in my car to make it work.
I am having exactly the same issue with my 2011 330i. Connects then drops out. Phone says it is connected sometimes yet the signal strength icon on my car display flashes with no bars lit. I have unpaired and deleted the phone from the car but still will not work. I don't want to buy a new car either!!
I am hoping someone can take on the project to write a mod that allows Pixel 5, Android OS 12, to play audio on two separate Bluetooth devices at the same time like Samsung. I recently bought a Woojer Strap Edge for audio haptic feedback, it connects wired or via Bluetooth. I use Bluetooth headphones and Pixel 5 does not allow audio output to two Bluetooth devices at the same time even though the hardware is capable of it. Is there anyone that has the know how to reverse engineer Samsung's Dual Audio Playback and make a mod to unlock these features on Pixel 5 Android OS 12? Or is there a known fix for this already?
Nothing in developer options allows this to work, I have played with all of those functions already.
I greatly appreciate any help, I know that this is an issue for many people across many devices, a broad fix would be fantastic if possible. I am not a code engineer, so not even sure if this is possible. All info will be helpful. Please let me know if you need any further information from me.
