Note 9 android auto wireless - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Can anyone confirm as to whether or not android auto wireless is available on the note 9?
If so, are there any problems you've noticed with it?
What head units are you connecting it to, and what is your overall opinion about it's performance?

I just tried it on my Pioneer 4400nex and it didn't work. Is it supposed to work? Maybe I'm missing a setting or something. I know I read that it can work with oreo but the oems would have make it work through a software update.

I tried it on my Kenwood that worked flawlessly with my pixel 2XL and it's a no go. I was crossing my fingers it would've been enabled. Waiting now for Android Pie

Anyone with an S7 successfully using Android Auto?

I picked up a Pioneer AVH-3300NEX and I love it. Its exactly what I wanted with AA and Apple CP built in. My issue is that the AA app on my S7 will freeze or crash randomly. Kind of defeated the whole purpose of a $600 stereo.
Changed over to an iPhone 7+ and Carplay works beautifully. I would much rather use Android though.
Has anyone had any experience troubleshooting this? I run my phones bone stock for work reasons.
Running auto on an S8 and it is reliable. One thing I did though was make sure that the battery optimisation isn't being applied to android auto app.
i.e. settings-battery-battery usage-optimise battery usage-all apps and make sure it is of in that list.
Thanks mate!
I'll give it a whirl. I def think it has to do with Android putting the app to sleep or....something...killing the process.
It worked!

Pioneer MVH-2300NEX + Note 8 Oreo

after updating to oreo i'm not able to use android auto.
everything right now is at latest version.
android auto will not detect the headunit and add it as a "Car".
have tried multiple quality cables including oem samsung
the phone detects the connection and is charging, it also shows up as "data transfer" mode
bluetooth works fine, the spotifty function on the headunit will work if android auto is running on the phone however android auto will not mirror to the headunit while usb connected.
What version of Android Auto? Maybe downgrade back to 2.9.
Was 3.1 I will try 2.9
Thanks

2.9 didn't work either. and way to debug this?
I still can't get this to work.
pioneer wont help me, google wont help me.
I've reset my phone countless times.
any way to force AA to load on HU?
Was this ever solved? Not sure if these are related or not. I did not pay any attention to what version my S8+ was until now. Could it have taken ATT this long to upgrade my phone to Oreo?
Here is my story ...
I have Galaxy S8+ running 8.0.0. My Pioneer AVH-2330NEX is running firmware 8.35 dated July 2018. AA quit working after the Jan 2019 update to the phone. I get an "Andriod Auto stopped working" on the head unit. Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far.
I have tested the phone on a 2016 Honda factory head and all works. I have tested the Pioneer head with a friends old 1+1 (6.0.1 Cyaongen 13.1) and it works with the Pioneer.
But the S8+ and Pioneer do not.
Any thoughts?
Update to android pie solved all my problems with Android auto on pioneer avh z7100 dab

General Android Auto questions and specific ones regarding some units.

backstory: I never owned a car with a 3rd party head unit, never used android auto or had a car that supported it. Mirrorlink never worked on any car i've tested that should support it. So i'm here with pretty much here with little knowledge
I'm probably getting the AVH-2300NEX, I read some good stuff about it and it has android auto, its my main focus currently but i'm open to suggestions.
Here's my questions regarding Android Auto
1. Android auto isn't supported in my country via the playstore, can getting the apk from elsewhere bypass this problem or will it still be locked?
2. I remember reading that you can't use your device at all but some other news contradicting saying that there is a slide to unlock? if its the latter, what can you do on the device while its in android auto mode?
3. Does screen aspect ratio and resolution affect the quality of android auto? (I read that 16:9 QHD devices should switch to FHD, but that about 18:9 or 19:9 with QHD, will FHD fix any issues? do these still exist? or is this all dependant on the head unit)
4. Does samsung android pie has any issues with android auto currently? I read that in general some devices with pie had issues with android auto back in october, idk if google fixed it and I dont know if samsung has this issue.
Questions regarding head units.
1. similar to 4. from above Does the avh-2300nex work with note9? this post here seems to indicate that pie broke android auto usually samsung work differently than google so I'm not sure if its broken on note9 pie update if anyone here has it.
2. Overall, is the 2300NEX/2400Nex (they seem to be the same) worth getting for 300$ or so is there a better alternative for similar pricing (considering these are 2017 products)
3. is the 2300NEX even running android? should I even care so long it runs android auto?
4. Are there better units that better suit my needs? google maps navigation, music control and backup camera
Edit: one note responsiveness is a must I drove a car with an android unit that had horrendous touch sensitivity and was very slow (Had to click 3/4 times in the same spot for it to recognize my touch and was very slow to actually do the thing)
1) Based on a Google Search: you should be good to go. Don't take it as granted
2) There's a slide to unlock and pretty much you can fully use your phone
3) It depends on the head unit. If the head unit has a big resolution, though, you should be aware that your phone should be powerful enough to deliver a good experience

I'm wondering what would be the difference between my choice and this Xtron unit this one doesn't support android auto out of the box but i can install an app to let me do just that.

pie brought wireless AA too xenophobes if you have the right head unit. I upgraded to a Kenwood that has that feature and like I said it worked great with my pixel. Pie was supposed to bring it to non pixelnphones but it's not working for me.

Good to know. Wonder if my car will accept wireless.

I had an s8 that would auto connect to Android Auto....but now I have an s10e that won't auto connect....Any ideas??
Wireless AA is a power hog. You are basically running the WiFi like a hotspot non-stop, besides the navigation and whatnot (Spotify/Pandora).
If you want to be truly wireless, you better have a good Wireless Fast Charger in the car (and the phone to support it). Ah, and while wireless charging, the phone should be mounted in front of the AC vent, to cool off...
I think that only Pixel and Nexus phones are enabled for wireless AA (info as of March 2019), it's not all the Pie phones:

LC3 Support?

Like I assume is true of many of you, I'm the family tech support. I have a "customer" who wears hearing aids and is having issues getting them to work properly/consistently with her phone. A couple questions that I've been unable to figure out:
1. One hearing aid keeps cutting out. I'm fine with declaring them a pair of duds and moving on to the next, but that's expensive so I need to rule out other causes. Are there any known bluetooth issues with the pixel 5, and keeping headphones/earbuds paired properly? I used this exact P5 before I gave it to this family member, and I don't remember having any issues with it and my pixel buds while running Android 12, but if something new has cropped up with any of the newer security patches I wouldn't know about that.
2. Does the pixel 5 support the new Bluetooth LE Audio standard? (LC3?) If not, will it ever? I read that Android 13 is working on full support for this, which is great as the P5 will get A13, but I'm not sure if there's any hardware limitation here or not.
Thanks!
1. I don't think there is a widespread issue with bluetooth on the pixel 5 as far as ik. You could try updating it to the march 2022 patch though, I think there are some connectivity fixes in there.
2. The pixel 5 only supports up to bluetooth 5.0 which means that it can't support LE audio and in turns, LC3 since it requires bluetooth 5.2 which only the pixel 6 series supports
