Question -12 hours before bootloader unlock, what next? - Xiaomi Mi 11

Hi guys,
I hope you are all well.
Finally tomorrow I will be able to unlock the BT of my Mi 11.
I would like to flash the EEA Rom without any other customization. The phone is currently on MIUI 12.5.7 CN Rom, I did not update it on purpose.
Shall I just unlock the bootloader and flash the fastboot venus_eea_global_images_V12.5.9.0.RKBEUXM_20211214.0000.00_11.0_eea_dc91966e19 with Mi Flash?
12.5.9 over 12.5.7 will be alright?
My understanding is that I should keep widevine L1 but safetynet will be a fail?
Thank you all for your help.
P.S.
Checking the unlock status after requesting BT unlock did not reset the counter for me, I kept checking every day

Above all, be careful to NEVER reloack your CN Venus Mi 11 with a another branch rom (EEA / Global), if not you will brick your device.
So be careful to Mi Flash, because by default option "clean & lock" is always selected by default.

I advise to install Stable Xiaomi.eu from here, more safe, you have less risk to brick your device because a **** OTA (MIUI 13 is knowed for that)

Thank you.
Yes I ll leave the bootloader unkocked...but I ll flash the eea rom, I m looking for a stock experience as much as possible.
If it bricks the phone I ll fix it and sell it afterwards, I m already stressed AF in this period, cannot be stressed about the phone too! I ll buy a Pixel maybe, not a lot of choices in europe actually...

I really recommend you to use miui 13 Xiaomi.eu Stable or miui 13 global/EEA. Android 12 update really make this device ui smooth without any noticeable frame drops. Xiaomi.eu is basically a CN ROM with all the global languages. Have both google dialer, messages and Xiaomi dialer and messages. You can find a fastboot version that I made of miui 13 global/EEA here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-global-eea-stable-and-miui-13-china.4381953/. It is very easy to install, just one click on "windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat" file and wait for the phone to restart.(will wipe your internal storage) You do not need Mi flash for this, and thus can not lock your bootloader accidentally.

Hi guys,
just to follow up on this.
unlocked the bootloader today, after unlocking the phone got stuck on the Miui logo...
so I ve rebooted in Fastboot mode and flashed the EEA 12.5.9 rom with MiFlash.
All went good apparently but in the end it completed with an error (mentioning a checkpoint)
booted, factory reset, started phone setup.
All good and as expected, widevine 1, Safetynet fail, my banking apps are working..only issue is Netflix from Googleplay not available, I ll try to sideload it later on.
Everything seems good enough, waiting for Miui13 OTA.
Thank you all again for your help

I am using 12.5.9 EEA. Came from phone with Global ROM, so I did exactly what you did - unlocked bootloader, then used miflash to do the EEA flash.
I can tell you it is normal to see the error at end of flash when you pick the "erase but don't lock" option. If you look at the .bat file for this option, the end of the batch file references something that doesn't exist, causing the error. Xiaomi folks screwed something up there, and actually it has been like that since the Mi 9 days (I used to own a Mi 9). So nothing to worry about.

Question Unresponsive touchscreen

I am on a global firmware, version 12.5.4, and sometimes the touchscreen becomes really unresponsive to the point that the device is almost unusable. I am aware that this is a known issue, has anyone found a permanent fix? Is this still a thing on more recent ROMs?
I feel this is not acceptable on a top-of-the-line phone like the MI 11 Ultra.
You must activate antiflicker in display settings and select "custom" in "prevent accidental edge touches". This is a workaround and improve this issue, still it may occur from time to time. Otherwise you can update to the latest 12.5.6.0, so far in this version I haven't seen this problem (although with those settings enabled)

Thank you. Anti flickering mode is nice. But the problem still persist. No update is available yet but buying best of best by MI and you get this small irritating UI issues is actually very bad.
Unfortunately the workaround only reduce it
Since the 12.5.6.0 touch issues are complete gone for me.
Thx god, the issues were frustratin sometimes

Hey bro, are you on RKAMIXM? And is your device rooted or unlocked bootloader? Or as original as it is out of box?

Thanks,
Just confirmed my theory, I couldn't update to 12.5.6 because of locked bootloader
You can push the update with advanced features. To activate them you need to press on miui button 6/7 times. After that download the latest .ZIP package (recovery update) and when in the updater select on the 3 dots in the up right "choose installation package"

I did that already and it stopped midway with stable recovery update, I had to format factory reset device and reupdate to original 12.5.4 to be able to use device normally.. And with only incremental update, it gave me an error saying cannot update with unofficial release.
May I ask you what did you download please?
Stable update 12.5.6 - local update- went all good, once reached the point to restart phone, then it fails after restart with veeeeeery slow phone and almost unresponsive, took 10mins to unlock screen instead of split of a sec.
Tried to flash a new 12.5.6 and 12.5.4 by fastboot, failed no matter what I do as bootloader is locked. The only way I got away with it was download 12.5.4 and local update it after I factory reset device which didn't help with smoothness but was needed to access local update again
AFAIK there is no fastboot 12.5.6.0 update, only recovery. I would suggest to re download the update as the one you downloaded might have been corrupted

Why you should lose OTA updates? It is stable beta
Updated manually to 12.5.6 and the problem seems finally gone.
If your bootloader is locked I'd recommend not to update.
If it is locked and you successfully update please let me know

I don't know, just got the phone 2 days ago. I'm trying not to mess with anything I'm not sure of.
Sorry if that seemed stupid but i do not want to risk it.
So if i update using that file I'm fine? Also is it the correct file or it should be bigger??
Usually recovery ZIP is smaller than fastboot. Onestly I pushed manually the update through OTA from stable 12.5.4.0 and everything went perfectly. Even with root and of course I have bootloader unlocked. Don't know what can go wrong if you have bootloader locked

Question Changing ROM to MIUI Global

Hi everyone. I recently got my Mi 11 Ultra with Chinese ROM (I'm guessing, from settings I can see MiUI 12.5.2.0). I'd like to change to latest version of MIUI global ROM. What would be the safest way to do so? I'd like to backup everything first before doing so (I haven't done this before) just in case something goes wrong. Also is there any up to date guide on how to do so? I did notice few posts related to that but I'm not sure if they are up to date. Best regards.
You must have an unlocked bootloader.
You need to upload the tgz file with the rom. You will do it through Miflash. Just remember to select the clean all option in Miflash. Don't block the bootloader.
As for the backup, you better not do it depending on what you want to restore. The copy from the Chinese version of the rom can not work well in the global version.
Copy your important stuff on PC then back to your Global Rom phone.

Thanks for a quick response, so mi flash is on this location right (https://www.xiaomiflash.com/)? And for the roms is it safe to use them from this link (https://c.mi.com/global/miuidownload/index). Any other advice just so I don't end up with a dead phone? Also do I unlock bootloader also via MiFlash?
I recommend this version of miflash

Also watch carefully the movie
fastboot files for miflash
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
in the rom file you will have to delete the ARB line
as for unlocking the bootloader, the Xiaomi website is for this.
Apply for unlocking Mi devices
en.miui.com
I have uploaded global 10 times, and there were no problems at all.

I'm not sure should I wait now or what . I did try logging in via same number on my browser and on utility and on phone, and also ID of account is the same and I can see phone number as recovery option and my ultra under device. Got no idea why phone number wouldn't be associated. One thing I can see when I turn on my phone is SMS service can't be activated, and also find my phone seems to be available only in China (seen a post somewhere that it needs to be turned on). MiUnlock seems to show option to add account and device everytime I enter it
First you need to unlock the bootloader. To do this, you must correctly add the Mi account to the phone and wait for 2 - 3 weeks

Yup that's what I tried but I can't even get to the period of 168h. Probably since SIM seems to not be activated. Even though I can send and receive SMS normally
Ok, managed to get it working, I've deleted my old account and created a new one directly from phone and got to the timer
I can now normally use my phone for that period of time?

Yes. You can normally use it. Just not able to unlock the Bootloader and because of that no root / Magisk and stuff. But you can still debloat with ADB if you want.

Help Needed - My Mi 8 is stuck (because Xiaomi tools suck)

Hi everyone,
I was recently given a Xiaomi Mi 8 which is now blocked in a boot loop, because Xiaomi apparently thought it was good engineering to give people tools that make flashing easy, but are rigged with a deadly "clean all and lock" option ON BY DEFAULT. Please allow me to sum things up.
HISTORY:
My mom had a Xiaomi Mi 8, bought a newer phone for some reason.
She had a reseller fix/clean the Mi 8 and gave it to me as a present; all in excellent shape.
My wife's phone sucked more than mine, so I migrated her number/data/etc to the Mi 8 for her to use.
Everything seemed fine, I let the system update to MIUI 12 (don't know which one was installed before).
Only then did we notice: no sound coming out from the ear speaker... Dunno if it worked before MIUI 12. My mom never had a problem with it before.
After looking it up online, I saw sometimes system updates did screw up parts of the phone for no reason.
I downloaded Mi Flash Tool + global MIUI 11 rom, hoping to downgrade and see if it fixes the ear speaker.
Bootloader was already unlocked, downgrading is apparently officially authorized, so... I flashed the phone!
After installing and rebooting, it got stuck in "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".

TECHNICAL:
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 8, second hand, no idea what the original region was.
OS: MIUI 11, downgraded from MIUI 12.
ROM: dipper_global_images_V11.0.5.0.QEAMIXM_20200706.0000.00_10.0_global
Bootloader: previously unlocked, now locked because Mi Flash Tool was set on "clean all and lock" and I didn't know better.
Connections: USB OK, fastboot/sideload OK, EDL OK
Mi account: didn't have one, I do now, couldn't link it to the phone though.
After lots of research, tests, hopes and disillusionments, I'm still stuck and can't flash anything into it, can't recover anything, can't move on. I did many attempts in EDL mode (opening the phone allowed me to notice it had been opened before, I guess by the repair shop my mom took it to). I'm appalled that Xiaomi let people flash their phone with official tools so easily, yet fail to warn us VISIBLY that 1) your phone may be from a different region without you knowing it; 2) you aren't allowed to flash a Global rom on a China rom; 3) the default option in Mi Flash Tool is to lock your bootloader after flashing, which is THE reason why your phone may end up locked by mistake.
I got my hand on various versions of Mi Flash Tool (latest, 2018, beta), Mi Flash Unlock (early, recent), Qualcomm drivers, Miracle Box Thunder Edition 2.82, XiaomiToolV2, and of course Minimal ADB & Fastboot. EDL is a no-brainer now, plugging the battery out/in, pressing VOL- and Power too... I tried to flash a Chinese Developer Fastboot rom, I tried firehose patchs, nothing ever worked. Apparently I'm now out of luck, being stuck in a bootloop with a MIUI version that wasn't meant for my phone, with a bootloader that's been locked again, without a linked account to unlock it. And no, I don't wanna drive to a Xiaomi shop, I don't wanna pay a stranger to unlock my account with Teamviewer – basically my mom gave us that MI 8 so that we would not have to pay anything. Otherwise I would've paid to replace the battery of my wife's Samsung A5 2016 and we would've been fine.
Could anyone knowledgeable enough tell me if there's another way to fix that phone, or if it's definitely stuck and I should sell it for parts? Thanks for reading.
Come on... Anyone?
Also, could booting TWRP on my phone help in any way?
Or maybe a Qualcomm vulnerability, like the one used by Project Renegade?

Do it if you have this problem ou directly flash a Xiaomi EU rom.
An existential doubt, if the device has the rom with Antirollback version 1, and the rom to install has AR1 too, is there any risk?

The answer is above.
With MI flash the flash will not work ,if ARB, that's all.
Thank you all for your advice I managed to do a successful job!
Sorry for so many questions!
Thank you all for your patience, responses and help.
I managed to install the Global rom of Mi 11 pro Mars
1) Check the ARB and in both roms, the current one and the one you wanted to install in both the version was: 1
2) Unlock bootloader
3) Install with Mi flash without problems
Totally successful job!

HI! i got a mi 11 pro 1 year ago, and it was offically chinese, but it came unlocked with Xiaomi.eu firmware, but i could't update it via the updater app, so i searched and found the global star version and just flashed it, everything worked, only now google pay nfc didnt work, it said that its probably because of the unlocked bootloader, so i got to fastboot and in cmd i sent fastboot oem lock, and since then my phone is stuck in miui recovery 5.0 screen and says that i cannot run this firmware on the device, i tried to unlock it but failed, maybe after a week, but i think that i didnt turn on oem unlocking on the phone itself before this... So im just hoping that after a week unlocking could be done... Or my other idea is, that i could install the original chinese rom with sideload, because i managed to install another global version on it since, but the result is still the same, the only problem is that i cannot find literally anywhere a mars codenamed firmware...

Anyone who might have the same situation, i found a simple, but effective solution, not sure if it works on every xiaomi device, but i will write down the steps here:
You need to use XiaomiADB, here is the download link and the description for how to use it -> https://xiaomiui.net/how-to-use-xiaomiadb-8044/ (if the page is not available, then feel free to msg me!)
For xiaomi adb, you need to go to 3rd option on the miui recovery screen, NOT THE FASTBOOT
So basically i went through the steps to “xiaomiadb sideload_miui <filename>”
And I tried to install a rom, BUT IT DIDNT ACCEPT IT!
The message was:
ERROR: This rom cannot be installed, server code -> 2001, server message -> Can't install unofficial rom
after trying 4 times all the same and: Installation of this rom via stock recovery is not allowed by Xiaomi
Says Installation failed, and then i just decided to download another rom so i PLUGGED OUT THE PHONE right after this, and went to another room to connect to wired network, to download and try a different rom... when i came back, to all my surprise, the phone was turned on, so i went to the setting dev ops and enabled bootloader unlocking, linked it to my account enabled adb and everything that is needed to flash another rom later, so then i rebooted and again, miui recovery 5.0 screen, but now i enabled unlocking, so i put the phone in fastboot, and tried MI UNLOCKER TOOL again, now it says: Please unlock 168 hours later. And do not add your account in MIUI again, otherwise you will wait from scratch.
So that means, after 7 days i wll be able to unlock it, until then, i can turn it on with the above method, in short try to sideload (copy and install) a rom to it, and then after it failed, plug it out and just wait like 10-20 maybe 30 seconds and bam your device is normally booted... I hope it helps to some of you, (i have been searching for the solution for almost a week, my other option was to pay someone who can MAYBE do it or send the phone back to china and pay the repairs, so im really happy with this method! If it helps to you, please reply so i and the others will know that it worked! Have a nice day!

Question Flash Error - now phone won't switch off and continually restarts

After about 12 mins the tool displayed a timeout error
When I disconnected the phone it went into a 'boot loop' continually displaying the startup logo, then restarting again and I cannot switch the phone off.
I can use the power and volume down key to get back to fastboot (but the fastboot logo has gone and the word Fastboot is displayed on its own).
If I try to flash again, it sees the phone and starts to flash, but once again times out.
If anyone has any suggestions to resolve this I would appreciate them.
NOTE: The phone had the global ROM and I am trying to flash the Indonesian rom to have call recording - like I did on the other 2 phones.

I don't understand you say " I tried to flash my Redmi 10 5G(code name LIGHT)" and you flash a rom for a Redmi note 10 5g (camellia).

Check here that everything is ok. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/flash-tool-guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
or
Try with https://xiaomitools.com/sp-flash-tool-en/
or
a newer or older version of Miflash
Always run in administrator

This is a Miflash log and you will notice that the rom name appears outside your log there is none as if you did not decompress the TGZ file.

I did extract the TGZ - so not sure what happened. Is there a particular directory structure for storing and running the files - this is the path where the extracted TGZ content is held and it is all there - C:\redmi10\flashtool\MiFlash20220218\rom\ - reflected in the logs. But there is no reference in the logs to the 'flash_all.bat'.

Having flashed a Redmi Note 9 and a Redmi 9A, I tried to flash my Redmi 10 5G.
I unlocked the phone and proceeded to use MIFlash to flash the phone - the phone was recognised and the flashing began.
View attachment 5676565
After about 12 mins the tool displayed a timeout error
View attachment 5676569
When I disconnected the phone it went into a 'boot loop' continually displaying the startup logo, then restarting again and I cannot switch the phone off.
I can use the power and volume down key to get back to fastboot (but the fastboot logo has gone and the word Fastboot is displayed on its own).
If I try to flash again, it sees the phone and starts to flash, but once again times out.
If anyone has any suggestions to resolve this I would appreciate them.
NOTE: The phone had the global ROM and I am trying to flash the Indonesian rom to have call recording - like I did on the other 2 phones.

Thanks for all your input - the problem is now solved.
Although I could not switch the phone off, if I caught it right between reboots I could get it into fastboot mode.
I then, as you suggested, tried an older version of MIFlash with current versions of MIUI 13 - both the Indonesian and then the Global ROMs - with no luck. Same problem with bootloop and unable to switch off the phone.
I then tried again with an older version of the Indonesian ROM. It finished with a timeout error again, BUT this time I could re-boot the phone and there it was, fully installed V12 of the ROM.
Once I set up the phone, an update of the Indonesian ROM was notified, and I managed to update with no problem and I now have what I wanted, the latest MIUI with call recording capability.
So although not as smooth a process as I experienced with the other 2 phones, I got there eventually.
Of course the xiaomi with soc Mediatek are less expensive than those in Qualcomm but there is little or no development for these phones and what is a routine with a Qualcomm sometimes turning into an obstacle course with a Mediatek.
