Is there any fix for contrast in GCam? It's really too much and abnormal. I've tried tweaking MGC BSG mod but no luck.
While GCam Go works perfectly. Even the anx port gives good pictures but it's compatibility with A12 ROMs is limited. Works only on miui vendor ROMs. Please do share any good XML and gcam port combination for more accurate skin tone like anx cam.
Did you look at the images on a color calibrated monitor?
Compare images for both modules on a color calibrated monitor.
Compare contrast curves of both before you decide which one is best.
Phone display calibration can be way off. I avoid doing contrast curve editing on the phone because of this.
Welcome to the wide, wide world of color calibration... it has a very steep learning curve.
Have look in this xda thread.

That's something I must try but I've compared images from two different cams on same screen so screen is not the issue I guess. Anyway I'll definitely try to compare them on my work desktop which I use for graphic design and video editing purposes

Without a color calibrated monitor and throughput it's impossible to tell. I know my Note 10+'s throughput and display are almost dead on as I checked it with a color chart out of curiosity.
Variable displays will have a lower color rendering index; they are very difficult to factory calibrate.
Please keep GCam questions and discussions in the

Hello Team,
Its so nice to be among XDA members, I have OP3 since 3 weeks now running Freedom Rom(excellent work team)
I had LG V10 , the specs for both cameras are almost the same (except laser focus in V10) but V10 has more details and quality in its pictures.
Is it google camera app that is simple in processing pics or something in hardware that is making the difference ?
Thank you for your feedback!
It's both! and you may add the photographer skill too.
But it's rather the picture quality you're talking about.
Try to deactivate the HD/HQ and HDR option on the top right of the camera app (it looks like the google one but it's copyrighted to oneplus)
Especially in HD/HQ mode, it nicely eliminate noise in low light but you will loose in details.
Beyond that, if you want to make a good picture, activate the grid and put your subject on one of the corner of the grid (search for the rule of thirds)
As we all know the POCO X2 has one of the best sensor i.e. IMX686 for its main shooter but the jpg conversation algorithm of stock camera is not upto the mark. Stock cam images are slightly over saturated, Little bit warm in tint, and when you zoom in; the details of textures looks like oil painted and not that much accurate and sharp to the edges. Though its completely software dependant thing so can be improved.
Also front camera of POCO X2 is not upto the mark its having f2.2 aperture, due to which details and textures capturing is just average in selfies .
To enhance the camera performance of POCO X2 to get full advantage of IMX686 we can use GCam. As the GCam is modified application for few perticular devices it's hard to find the perfectly working gcam port for our device. (Though as per my observation on several popular smartphones, GCam ports works best on Nokia smartphones the condition is you should have to search a lot for perfect mode.)
For POCO X2 as per posted on Gcam Port Hub there are multiple working GCams available; but the problem is final image production from those modes are different, some are over sharpen, some are to soften, some looks too artificial, some are very good but poor in capturing details, some are good at low-light and some at daylight.
So as i tried gcam ports of almost all top developers on POCO X2; here are some of the versions that i found good in major aspects.
MGC_7.3.020_Parrot043-v2.apk
DMGC_7.2.018_ver.3.15.apk
HyperCam-RaizenA-10.apk
POCOX2_F1v9.6_6.2.030.apk
:
Also some users are using PixelCam_Plus_V2.0.apk and UltraCVM_v5.apk but i didn't find both of this that much good, might be I don't know the good settings for them.
For the 7.4.x version for POCO X2 i tried NGCam_7.4.104-v1.0_gcam.apk which is working fine and images of it are fine.
So if anyone find any other better GCam modes that are working good on POCO X2 then please share it in this thread. Also can suggest best settings, libs and .XMLs here.

When photographing through the standard camera application, saturated colors turn out to be toxic on the photo.
As a rule, the grass in the sun is unbearably oversaturated.
How to fix it?
Is it over saturated or over exposed?
You sure it's not the display it's self rather than the image responsible for the saturation issue?
Was it always like this?
Try shooting in RAW if that option is available.
You can fix it post editing using a contrast curve if it's not too blown out. Androids are notorious for poor image throughput; without a color calibrated PC/monitor it's hard to judge what you have and impossible to edit it properly. You just open a big can of worms... welcome to the world of digital photography.
Try clearing system cache.
Try a hard reboot.
Clear camera app data.
It does not depend on the settings, the camera always works so.
Thanks for the info
Turn off AI in camera app and colors won't be over saturated.

Is there any way i could improove the quality of the cameras? The sensors are pretty good and there is potential , but the processing of the normal camera app is just ****. Is there any way possible an gcam app haves color + awb corection for every single sensor in the phone and gets better photos ?

They offer same , or worse quality. If there are no color corrections done specifically for this phone , it won t look good.

Then you've didn't search enough or you made something wrong.
The quality of the game pictures with our rn10pro are nearly at the quality of iphone 12 pro max....
Or you expect more than possible with phones...

Take the photos in raw format. Then there is no post-processing on the part of the camera app. You can then do the post-processing yourself on the pc according to your own wishes. E.g. with "Adobe Lightroom" or with the free alternatives "Darktable" or "Raw Therapee".
Some time ago I compared the stock Zenfone camera and the Wichita GCam. Since then both have been updated, so I made another quick test...
I installed the latest Wichaya's 8.1 v1.5: GCam_8.1.101_Wichaya_V1.5 with the config file and took a simple picture that included areas of sky, shadows and highlights. Here’s what I found:
The GCam shot is a little underexposed which gives it more highlight detail but less shadow detail, especially in the darker areas of foliage. It has a slight magenta cast which makes greenery look less saturated and gives the sky a slight purple tint.
The stock camera shot looks very good - the white balance and exposure are accurate and dark greenery has much more detail than the GCam shot. The highlights, however, have a lower contrast, smoothed appearance, so are not quite as detailed as the GCam.
The Asus camera now gives a better result than the GCam. However there is something about the quality of detail in GCam pictures that I find more satisfying and more true to life than the Asus shots. Fortunately there’s a ton of settings that can be adjusted to improve the GCam’s performance - if anyone has enough technical knowledge to help it match the stock camera I’d love them to post a config file.
I’ve included a GCam version that I’ve edited: I adjusted the white balance, brightness and shadow detail to try match the Asus shot, but it would take more complex editing using layer masks to equal the shadow detail. I guess Asus has some sort of AI to detect greenery and increase the shadow detail and contrast, and also to detect highlights to lower their contrast.
