Question Unlocked bootloader warranty question - OnePlus 10 Pro

I currently have OP7P, I'm planning to buy either S22 ultra or upcoming OP10P, I got to know in samsung once bootloader is unlocked it break Knox and that is irreversible, and they say it will be hard to get warranty even if later I lock bootloader and unroot stock rom.
In my OP7P after I flash stock rom with msm there is no visible sign if bootloader was ever unlocked, is it same with oneplus 9 and 10? And is it correct that service center will be able to find that it was earlier unlocked and they can refuse warranty?

OnePlus doesn't usually care if your bootloader is unlocked for service....

bootloader unlocked or not

How do i tell if my bootloader is unlocked or not?Its the tmobile version on at&t that I bought from google.
why would you buy the tmobile version to use on at&t?
because this was the only one that they offered at that time and there is no 3g hear in my home town
If you have an unlocked lock on bootup.
thanks dont see unlocked lock.i gess i will unlock and root
You don't need to unlock it to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
Yeah, I'd avoid unlocking the bootloader unless you absolutely want to. It's easy to root and then flash a custom recovery without unlocking.
why not unlock bootloader i have no warranty anymore?
IIRC out does void your warranty

It voids your software warranty but not the hardware one, as far as I know. But it also has an "unlocked" logo during boot-up which might be discouraging to aesthetes.

Help!!!!! Moto g6 variant xt1925

View attachment 4629305Good evening, since I upgraded my phone to OPSS27-82-87-3 version I have not been able to block the bootloader again, when loading an image it says boot loader error security patch I need someone who has this firmware since I could not block the bootloader of the phone if I do not have this variant, and this link does not work up to 222 Mb and it falls
https://rsdsecure-cloud.motorola.co...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
so download wherever it always generates the same download error
link of the image https://ibb.co/i2tV5q
I need the September patch security firmware opss27.82-87-3 a link that works, without this I can not go back to relock bootloader
Why are you trying to relock your bootloader? And you are not likely able to relock the bootloader. Sometimes flashing the exact firmware already on the device re locks the bootloader but not every time. There is no reason to relock your bootloader. It will not make the device as it was never unlocked for warranty purposes. It will not stop Motorola from being able to see that it was unlocked.

You can do it but there is no point. If your thinking relocking the bootloader will get passed a Moto service center and or sending it in will pass there warranty check your mistaken. if you do a logcat and look through it you will eventually find in the logcat it says your warranty is void. Also requesting the unlock code and using it voids your warranty. each phone has a unique unlock code only made for that phone for it's bootloader. For example me and a friend have the same Moto g6 play but his bootloader unlock code is not the same as mine. Long explain short Your warranty is voided the second you unlock your bootloader it doesnt matter if you relock it. And you can't hide it from moto. And as to what @madbat99 said. There's never been an instance where re-flashing stock firmware at least in my experience has relocked a bootloader for Motorola devices. Not saying your wrong I just personally have not heard that or seen it happen yet. it still doesn't matter though because the warranty is still voided from doing it the first time. I've heard of that happening with some Samsung devices but the warranty was still voided. I'm not sure why people think relocking the bootloader is necessary it doesn't affect the phones performance when It's locked or unlocked

is not to pass it as a guarantee I just want to leave it as it was, also had already been able to block the boot, only for the last update of September I can not block the bootloader for being firmware of July, and the link that there is, the firmware of September does not work download certain part and the connection drops,
Also, with the patch version of July security if I could block the boot loader

Has anyone returned their phone after locking the bootloader?

Hello there, I was just wondering if anyone returned their Asus Rog Phone 2 for repair or simply returned it after relocking the bootloader.
On XDA there is a great guide on locking the bootloader here https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/guide-convert-cn-to-ww-rom-26-08-t3961042http://
So would be interesting to see if locking the bootloader is all we need to peacefully rma the phone or does asus have some other sneaky peaky something going on to detect if we ever rooted.
I am perfectly happy with my phone its just some people on my youtube channel were asking if its safe to return after relocking I just said I haven't heard of anyone doing so, so not 100% sure.

Most Android devices have a record in system chip. Once bootloader has been unlocked it will change status from 0 to 1 and even if you relock the device it will still stay as 1. Since you triggered the log thingy. So Asus techs will still be able to find out that bootloader has been touched. For example on Samsung devices they use something called a KNOX chip and when you unlock bootloader on a Samsung S9 or s10 the Knox chip will break and no longer work and status will say that Knox chip has been triggered with 0 to 1. That's how Samsung finds out if you have unlocked your bootloader on their devices. So Asus have probably a way aswell on their end.
You can return the device for repair but repair service will reject warranty repair and will put a price how much it will cost you to repair the device. Since they will see bootloader has been touched. So then warranty is voided.
I returned my 1st one because of no volte. Bl was unlocked, relocked using asus's app before the tool here was available. No issues, got a full refund.
I doubt they wouldn't repair it under warranty, unless it was actually caused by a bad flash, or something.

What Asus app did you use to relock the bootloader? I thought the only way to relock is to use a fastboot command. Asus has an apk for unlocking the phone, haven't heard of one for relocking.

Ah OK no worries. At least now we know that people can safely return or repair their phones if they relocked the bootloader properly. Thanks for responding.

Rooting and custom firmware related query- S20 FE 5G

I have been using Oneplus phones for past 6 years and now got a new S20 FE 5G model (SM-G781B/DS). I have few doubts before I proceed with unlock, flash TWRP and custom roms.
The steps for unlocking and flashing custom rom seems bit complex in samsung than oneplus.
My doubts are:
1. Is my understanding that Samsung warranty gets void (unlike oneplus or xiomi) ,once we unlock bootloader correct?
2. The phone came preloaded with Android 11 based stock rom. I have not done the latest Android 12 based update yet. Will it be more difficult to unlock, if I upgrade to android 12 based stock? Should I stay with Android 11, unlock and later update?
As of now my idea is to stay with official updates till warranty and do flashing after 1 year. Just want to check, if it will get more difficult to unlock, if I go to Android 12.
S20 FE 5G model (SM-G781B/DS)

1) it's not unlocking that voids the warranty but what usually follows that, flashing non official images onto the device. in the EU you still might have a warranty covering hardware defects as the EU demanded the 2 be separated (software warranty and hardware warranty).
2) android 12 changes a few things in that you need the latest version of magisk now and a later version of files to keep a custom recovery in place. the overall principle remains the same between 11 and 12 though.
unlocking will be the same regardless, it's not an exploit it's a feature.
If you root it as well, Samsung Pay wont work and some other Samsung features.
You will void warranty

Question Does a bootloader unlock on Note 10Pro blow any EFuses?

Hello.
I want to ask if someone here knows, if unlocking the bootloader changes any EFuse states in the SOC, because Samsung does that
to prevent Google pay from working again on the device, even if the bootloader gets relocked. Now the question is, if Xiaomi does that too?
Does any one here also probably know if, and when yes, what EFuses are set on the Xiaomi devices from factory?
Regards
No.
When you relock bootloader it's like from the factory and your warranty isn't voided.
Do you know if they have "Etched" the checksum of their Bootloader into the SOC by setting the configuration EFuses, or is
it possible to replace the entire bootloader through another one (Normally this isnt possible because the SOC itself is locked
to the Cellphone manufactuerers signed bootlaoder by blowing config fuses. Does Xiaomi that too?
