Hi and welcome
Any users that wanna say hi, introduce yourself and give a little history of devices/experience etc your more than welcome.
This forum has been long over due, maybe we can attract some new devs now and get some more development going
big thanks to everyone who made this forum possible:thumbup:
Came from the wildfire s, great little phone had s-off which was cool, some great devs and roms etc.
Got the desire c not long after release, one for my son, one for my woman and one for myself.
Great little phone, good price sim free unbranded, does all I want it to
Last week got my upgrade from tmobile uk, they gave me a oneX with an amazing deal, as I wanted to leave and they wanted me to stay
Some cyanogenmod development would take the desire c to another level
Your a lucky guy, I dream I got one not long ago.
Everybody, if you have the choise buy this phone. It's just amazing Only the screen is a little bit small, but it's a cool phone. My first HTC and I won't buy other phones now, only HTC
My phone history is somewhat... erm.. erratic... Love cracking Phones open and have begun writing guides on how to do things... but been an android fanatic for almost 3 years
Had the following;
SE Xperia x10
HTC Desire HD,
HTC Sensation x 2
Samsung Galaxy SII x 2
SE Xperia Play
HTC Evo 3D
Samsung Galaxy Note x 2
Samsung Galaxy Note II x 2
HTC Desire C (Current - To Tide Me Over)
HTC One X
LG Optimus 3D
Motorola Xoom 32GB 3G
Nexus 7 16GB Wifi
HTC Flyer 32GB 3G
As you can see TONS , and ive learnt lots, however i want to start cooking Roms soon as i understand the android Eco Environment quite well
Damn mate, you could open a museum
Before my wildfire s, I was a big Nokia supporter, having nearly every model since the 3210, then symbian was sinking fast so I jumped off my 5800 and never looked back, although if they made an android device I would be tempted.
Anyway nice to have you here mate:thumbup:

Are you the moderator?
I had a LG Rumour 2, than a LG Xenon, than my first Android smartphone the HTC Wildfire S and now I have the Desire C. I'm not really into to making custiom ROMS or kernels to OC the device, but will try my best to support ROMS as I go. I'm running Nameless v5.0.0 on my Desire C

Ive had...
HTC wildfire( sold on mazuma, although survived the washing machine )
HTC sensation( no longer in my possession due to unfortunate circumstances )
DJC touchpad 2 (pretty crap...)
Other crappy phones..
HTC desire C running explosion Rom by seanny... Switch to my Stock NFC Rom when needed.
Been flashing roms since I was 13, love android, love my desire C but love my mums one s even more I prefer bigger screened phones so after having a sensation, the feeling of going to a desire c wasn't as sensational....

This is my first android, so I won't be able to help the community much, just with issues and solutions a user can come up with.
Been looking for a cellphone upgrade for the last year or two, and I picked this phone since it resembles my old HTC size and texture.
During my teenage years got Nokia's between 3310 and 6100 (s40) to 6630 (s60), and later moved to the WM camp with the HTC Touch. Really liked the phone and thanks to xda was able to upgrade from WM6 to 6.5 that extended the life of the phone way more than I expected (5 years but this is due to other circumstances as well... also can't remember my old xda account... )
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!!
have a great holiday:beer:
Maybe Santa will bring desire c's to many more users and many more devs will flock to our forum
merry x-mas guys have a blast:highfive:
This is my first android as well. Although I've had this phone for quite a while. I've been off and on nameless and explos!on ROMs because I can't chose which one is better although I've never tryed slim sense or the famously incompleted, cm9.

My first ever android device was a htc wildfire, man was that thing bad, but i did learn alot about roms and kernels etc...
My second device was a sony ericsson xperia x8, which was a really nice phone and had alot of cool themes, roms and stuff going on.
then i got the first htc desire, which i loved because it was fast and wasn't too big and due to it basically being the same as a nexus one the development was so awesome
Now i have my desire C which is a good little, phone and as others say it does what i want it too. But however, if some cyanogenmod development on this device came along it would be so much faster and smoother than with sense for certain.
See i now no longer have this device, it was a stand in for me, but its a cute device.
Back to my trusty Note II .
Id be happy to continue trying to develop for it ha
You're a power user. Can the Sony Xperia X keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Sony Xperia X. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
really bad comparing to other devices
I don't agree. We got official Paranoid omni and lineageOs, some stock custom rom with mods and some very talented dev into open Xperia device community. This phone has the lastest OS given by Google and enhanced by Sony (aosp source availaable even for 7.1.1).
We will have Android 8 and, with it the new update system... That means more custom rom possibility.

LINEAGE ?????
Where is?
No official Lineage. I hope, the official SailfishOS port will arrive soon.
And when this happens, the X will rise.
Dev community pretty bad as of right now... There's a lot of hope but still years behind dev community behind motorola/oneplus/etc

SailfishOS is an absolute deal breaker for me, as you will have to pay for SailfishOS for the Xperia X.
I don't see a reason why I should pay for a OS, which still lacks of features and probably will be released anyway when the xperia x is completly death.
Did you ever try SFOS? The usage is much cooler than
Android. And there will be an runtime env for Android apps.
I don't have a problem to pay for good things. But nobody
forces you to buy an Xperia X or pay for an alternative OS.
And you know, that an Android with Google services isn't
as free as you think?
Ok, it is getting offtopic.
If we'll could talk with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 dev community, maybe we have other expectations with the development for this and Xperia X Compact device(s).
BTW, I been wanted show you that: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-aosp-oreo-t3664605
Regards.
Very bad compared to my 3 years old Asus Zenfone
This even getting Oreo

Their Snapdragon 650 is a good SoC for Development, more, searching fix some errors that Sony let...
The problem is our own Dev here, is very low...
IDK why.
We'll should to port some things from Xiaomi's Phones (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon and Xiaomi Mi Max), or, fuse our Dev with them Dev for making "bigger" to Snapdragon 650 SoC, at least.

u know that jolla give you the option to compile sailfish x for yourself right? And you know that they need to make money because they paid sony for licenses etc. and have taxes and coworker etc.? It's not like that jolla is a one-man show in a cellar like some others here like to think or are by themself
Guys please don't say our dev community strength sucks that's just unfair and of poor taste. WHY? Because.
Sony Xperia X wasn't much of a hit phone anyway it was expensive and was reviewed as a poor excuse for a flagship phone when it was released so nobody even bothered buy one there were better options back then and this phone did not deserve any attention in fact I only bought this phone because it was so damn cheap when I bought it last year. (from a 2nd hand seller for 150$)
I won't expect lots of devs and variety on custom ROMs for this phone, but I'm happy and grateful that we still got great devs here even if there's only a few.

Now, is the "most seller" together to the Xiaomi A1.
With this, maybe we could see something for make to develop even more for this SoC.
Community development is bad, but not the worst. Unfortunately, "Bootloader unlock allowed" is "No" on my phone so I can't use anything community developed/maintained regardless.
IMO it's alright. We're still under cover of Sony's AOSP and various official projects (Omni and PA), and outside of that there are Unofficial LOS and Treble by Chippa_ahttps://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=6994234 and Sjll respectively. Some of those ROMs are usable as daily driver.
Props to any and all developers who have been keeping this phone alive.
I'm currently a g5s plus user which gets a lot of love from devs. And I see that there are barely any ROM'S for this device? What's the reason?

Cool this is the g6 forum not the g5+ forum lol I wanna know what even brings you to this forum since you have e a g5+. there's a couple being worked on for the g6 plus but there not ready for public release yet and that's it. No one really gives a damn about the Moto g6 or g6 play which sucks ass tbh. I've literally tried given an extra g6 play I had away for free to any dev and I was willing to pay the shipping even and no one even bothered asking about it so I got rid of it lol
Depends on the variant. G6+ was not released in the US officially so that hurt adoption as the G6 is not exactly a stand out device. The 6+ can be bought on Amazon in the US but it lacks a warranty and comes with Amazon bloatware(Alexa, Amazon.com, Amazon Prime Video/Music, Kindle). It also lacks NFC when compared to the 6+. It's more expensive then a Z Force 2 which has Moto Mods and better screen but older SoC. The US availableility is the biggest key! The g6 seems to be gaining traction though as prepaid carriers like Cricket and Straight Talk are releasing variants of the G6 now. The cricket version is cheaper then the G6 but has 16gb storage vs 32gb in the G6. Seems like the G6 Play is most commonly used on Boost Mobile in the US from to me. Boost is sort of a hit or miss carrier mostly depending on how good Sprint networks are in an area I believe. They are one of the rare sprint resellers.

Was interested to recommend this to someone else, decided to check ROM support before doing so. But yeah it's sad how a generational update can cause such a dry patch here.

I mean the phone itself is a great phone and if I didn't care about having root or if I was just a simple person that just used a phone like normal I would say this phone is amazing like if your friend ain't really into rooting or custom ROMs then still I would recommend it to them. But if they are into this scene I would not recommend it at least yet.

I see, but I still wanted to keep that venue open, so I'll wait and see if the support comes. If not, then a Xiaomi phone it is. Could flash something like Official Lineage OS on a RN5 Pro, even the noobiest of users enjoy it.

For the g6+ I say give it about another month to three months. There is a telegram you can join if you want more updates on what's going in the g6+ community right now. I unfortunately have the g6 play so I can't say I have much hope for my device lmao. I also have a Moto z2 force so I just mainly use my g6 play as a phone and basic light mobile gaming and my z2 force for my heavier mobile gaming stuff like pubg mobile lol.

We have working LOS16 custom rom that is daily driver ready for the most part. LOS updates our vendor partition to make the GSI format more compatible with our device. We don't really have a reason to make a ton of custom roms anymore when a GSI img can be made and work on 50+ devices vs a custom rom which can work on only 1 device.

Yeah it's interesting how little is going on with the G6 platform compared to other phones. I picked up my G6 play for $80, a steal. It replaced my Moto x 2014 and my wife's Moto Z.
Yes there's occasional lag, but the phone itself looks and feels like a very high end device. I've also used the G6 which was much faster and the camera was nicer.
So for those saying the G6 "sucks" either haven't used it or are willing to pay $500+ for a "better" phone.

Pretty much this. The Play and the G6 shows that you don't need to spend $500+ to get a good phone.
Its like buying a BMW versus a Toyota. The $40,000 BMW depreciates to $18,000 in 2 years versus a $20,000 Toyota that will depreciates to $12,000. It's the same principle with phones. I'm thoroughly enjoying mine.
This is why I'm glad Treble exists. I've been running Pie for 2 weeks and it's still going great.

I have just went from the S8+ to the X2 Pro and I was surprised how much the X2 Pro is advanced if you compare to it to the S8+ .... loading times, installing apps, GPS catch, network, wifi retention, don't want to talk about the autonomy or the screen on time.... it's just another world. You can switch to the X2 Pro without hesitation. :good:
Thanks mate. So decision is simply. Time to upgrade.

I also would say go for it , this phone is really great. i have the chinese version and i love it (just takes some extra adb commands and patience to work well in the usa). if you can get the global id say grab it and enjoy !!!
I'm in the same situation, I am currently using a Sony XZ Premium. Also, can any users confirm that it supports Netflix
Oneplus One X Realme X2 Pro?
Hello guys, I have a Oneplus One and I have been very happy with it during these 5 years, mostly because of the support it has at software level (many custom ROMs are available for it), but now it is old and it gives me some performance errors. So that I want to upgrade my phone and I have seen this Realme X2 pro pretty interesting, however I am hesitating if this phone will have as much support as Oneplus brand, because I want it to last a lot and I think this is only got thanks to the community.
Do you think this phone will have a big community behind? I would like to flash it with an AOSP custom ROM sometime.

My first smartphone was a Windows Mobile. I got my hands on an android phone very late. But it was actually fortunate as the information about how, do and don't was readily available then. After I started to use my android phone I quickly came to know about XDA because I was very much interested in trying custom ROM (stock based) than MIUI. But I was glad I bought this particular model (mido). It's been 4 years since then but I still have my first android phone up and running smoothly powered by LOS 18.1.
I am thankful for the hard work that all the developers put in bringing so much to masses for free.
