Possible to disclose the source?
Do you have your hands on the full EDL firmware for the Pixel 4 (XL)? Since you posted in the brick thread, did you actually manage to resurrect your phone?
Any chance of getting the firehose files for the other Pixel smartphones?
got them from a paid site for somebody and noticed I hadn't seen them posted anywhere
which pixel do you need the firehose for? I am more than happy to check for you.
Just the 4 and 4XL, thank you very much!
Has anyone yet confirmed that these firehose files will work for a Pixel 4/4XL to load an image that can be bootloader unlocked? Especially over one that was originally carrier locked like a U.S. Verizon or AT&T model... These files get referenced on a number of threads but there don't seem to be any confirmed successes or specific instructions other than these generally referenced on the Pixel 4/4XL forums: https://androidmtk.com/use-qpst-flash-tool for instructions on the Qualcomm tool and this fairly recent open source tool: https://github.com/bkerler/edl/

that edl tool works way better on linux too
There's not much that doesn't work better on Linux, especially when it comes to stability and reliably flashing firmware but thanks for the tip. I would have used Windows 10 out of convenience.
I've used the Samsung Odin tool (3.09 in 2017) previously on a Galaxy Tablet that uses a programming .pit file that formats and guides the "firehouse" action and the manufacturer's image is put into place using the formatting guidelines of the tool. (The small EDL file goes in one box and the image is selected in the other?) Does this work similar to that but using Google's production images for the Pixel?
thix usefull to bring the pixel 4 and xl from the dead if they ever got into edl mode as long it's a hardware problem

This doesn't seem legit in any way. I think you got them off of Halab Tech and they probably uploaded wrong stuff either knowingly or unknowingly. Binwalking the binary you provided, we can see that it's really just a generic programmer from Xiaomi and strings reveal it's really nothing special:
Bash:
prince in ~ at Pegasus took 2s
➜ strings prog_ufs_firehose_sdm855_ddr.elf | grep -i attestation
Xiaomi Attestation CA0
Xiaomi Attestation CA0
I would be really interested if the firehose actually ever shows up but, AFAIK Google signs firehoses on a per-device basis, so it's technically impossible for one programmer to be cross compatible with even another Pixel.

I was searching for development related stuff and came acreoss these system dumps of the device codenamed "Chef_sprout"
As it was listed as an Unknown android one device in the XDA post for Google's official AR Core Supported devices, I guess it was pretty much the Motorola One Power
The links are as follows, feel free to experiment!
Link 1
Link 2
Both of them possibly have the same files. I don't have the device yet and to this day there is no word of bootloader unlockability from motorola. (I spammed their forums and twitter, yet no reply! ._.)
Also, OFFICIAL TWRP
Also, Official TWRP exists!
Link
The kernel source they used is here.
As official pie fastboot is available, can you dump that to GitHub or anywhere? I don't have a pc to do that! That would be helpful. Thanks in Advance!
can anyone please explain to me what are these dump files and what is their use anyway?
For those of us with the challenge/misfortune of being stuck on a non-OEM-unlockable Canadian A70, suffering with a stock build.
There are numerous references in different threads, but the A70 is (for now) a relatively complicated device, even moreso for those on the A705W variant.
This thread is to provide a home for resources, questions and solutions, and hopefully allow many Canadian users to break free.

i have the latest combination files for every variants of A70, i don't know what you will do with thoses.
from a engineer i spoke with, we need a samsung dev account to authorize combination files to be flashed, fixing the error (Please get approval to flash factory binaries).

this isn't the latest combination firmware.
I traded my S10e (SM-G970W) for an A70 (SM-A705MN).
Partly due to the horrible battery life but mostly due to the locked bootloader Samsung has been blessing us with for years now. I really enjoy Samsung devices but without root i see no reason to use the product. I've got a couple years of upgrades and time to see if anything changes. I really hope this gets sorted for MOST of the devices sold in Canada and the U.S.A.
Has anyone made progress here ?
Not as far as I know.
Has anyone succeeded in unlocking a A705W yet?

After discussing with BK, we're looking for volunteers with a A705W (Canada or USA model) willing to work with us to unlock their boooader and root. Please let us know in here.

How did it turn out in the end?

From what I can figure out from online research so far:
1. EMUI 10 has removed oem unlock command. I actually emailed them about this and haven't had a reply. It is THEORETICALLY possible to use the flashing command according to fastboot help, but I can't make heads or tails of it.
2. It is THEORETICALLY possible to downgrade to EMUI 9.1 using DLOAD. Look it up. You will lose all data, but you're probably cool with that because you're asking about bootloader unlocks.
3. It is also THEORETICALLY possible to bruteforce the unlock code using a script from SkyEmie on GitHub. Expect it to take multiple days, and to have to install python3.
4. After that, one can find a TWRP build and flash it the old fashioned way. If someone has a TWRP build for LYA-L09 (6 / 128) or can assist me in building one, please @ me, I really want to be able to get LineageOS on here even if I need to self build.
5. Speaking of LAOS... Basic functionality and inscreen fingerprint is probably possible, but biometric face unlock is probably a bit more of a challenge. Graphics drivers for the Mali G76 can likely be borrowed from the Exynos S10, so that's easy enough. Or... Maybe most of this is already done for us with the Android 10 beta build that's probably in an Internet archive somewhere. Are we able to reverse engineer that?
This is all currently theory because the number transfer to my OP8 Pro doesn't complete until tomorrow in my timezone, and I kind of don't want to risk bricking it until then. I am not a developer, however I can give developers here any information they want about the device.
And if the device hasn't been named yet, I vote for rickastley
All great in theory but Option 1 is already no go (unless you can convince Huawei to allow that command in Fastboot)
Option 2 I believe only worked with the beta (or 10.0), once you are on 10.1 there is no way back
And without 1 or 2 there is really no point discussing 3-5.

I actually downgraded to 9.1 using the HiSuite on windows. I was on 10.1. Sorry, but you're wrong.
I actually posted a rant on the Huawei forum. You're right, I got a canned response that they're looking into it, they don't care.
3 is a no go, I don't have 5,000 years. Someone did already make a Kirin ROM (check my other post) back when people did crazy stuff to get unlocks involving money.
The real question is this. Huawei participated in the Android Q beta program with the Mate 20 Pro. That required an unlocked bootloader. How was that done? Did they ask? Was there a workaround? Because the beta program isn't automatic, Huawei had to actually put in active effort for that to happen.

Those who signed up are probably allowed to install a special firmware version with special BL? Not sure who is still on Beta now though

Hmm. Interesting. Probably nobody is still on it. We could ask around though. I don't know anyone who participated.
Hey, I'm currently wondering about leaving my Samsung Galaxy S9 running on LineageOS 18.1 behind and invest into more up-to-date hardware.
The Oppo Find X5 Pro catches my interest.
However, I'd want to switch to custom ROMs at some point, latest by the end of its update support and possibly root the device.
Considering this, would the Find X5 Pro still fit my needs?
Currently Bootloader Unlock is not possible. Maybe after three months...
Try to get to fastboot is hard . So far i figured out how to get to fastboot.
Run cmd from either Adb/fastboot folder or Adb from platform tools .
run the command:
adb devices
next run :
adb reboot bootloader
while it reboots hold the down volume and power.
it put into fastboot. After that Im lost. Thats as far as I got.
I cant read Chinese
If a phone is not rootable or custom rom possible etc - NO BUY!
Sry Oppo. Hope you Developers find a good way soon!

I came to the same conclusion. The release offers coming with all that extra stuff such as watch, wireless charger and protector seemed to be a good deal.
Especially, when my current phones battery struggles a lot, front camera issues came up and sometimes people I'm calling feel uncomfortable with extra noise.
Though, usually I'm someone who uses their phone for the extra mile. Knowing that Oppo is as restrictive toward a custom roms, protected me from making a not thought through gut decision.
Thanks for the help ...I just didnt have time to do google translate. I will unlock the bootloader tonight
After i get into the " you have entered fastboot " no matter what button combination i do... it will either just reboot or reboot to recovery
To unlock bootloader of OPPO phone, we need to use "Deep Testing" apk to request approval from OPPO, but there's no such apk for Find X5 Pro yet.
I'm OPPO Product Ambassador and asked OPPO to release it, but they replied their developer is not interested in it.

I'm not sure if its device specific but this one seems to be working on Realme GT2 Pro which has at least the same OS and SOC. Probably worth a look.
Unlocked Bootloader?
This device finally seems like a worthy buy if one wants to go into the Samsung ridden 4nm fabrication 8 gen 1 CPU. Best temperatures and lowest throttling of all phones with that chip. One can only hope if Realme releases it with an unlocked...

Hello,
I'm already rooted on an old FW version. Can I update to the latest official FW and then reroot with the linked instructions?
Hello @Vattu, yes, it is possible to do so, but first, you will have to unroot the phone with the boot image you have copied from the phone. If you get stuck, please feel free to reach out to me via email -> [email protected]
Hi @cut3gh0st, I registered on this site specifically to thank you for this excellent job you've done. It literally took me about 30 minutes to root my phone. I did this using my Debian (bullseye) box, so I can confirm with certainty that it also works on Linux. Thanks.
