Recovery Keypress Not Working (Android 12) - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Howdy, folks. I'm having some trouble getting A12 to enter the stock bootloader mode. Seems the Pwr/Vol+/Bixby combination is no longer working. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Hello Bill Lechat
Use low vol + bixby + USB cable plugged into a PC to boot the phone into download mode
Long press vol up then confirm you want to unlock the bootloader (this is only needed once)

Yes, I was able to do that and successfully unlock the bootloadfer, but I am not able to boot to recovery via the old method of keypress only. Is there a new sequence?

Problem with Download Mode

Long story short, I have the I8190L version of the phone, currently on stock ROM. I got the phone a few weeks ago and I have rooted it right away, there were no problems while rooting, I used the Galaxy S3 mini toolkit and used the "Flash Insecure Boot Image and Root device" option, with SuperSU 1.25. Fast forward to right now, I want to install CyanogenMod, so I went and tried to boot my phone into Download Mode, to try and flash CWM recovery in order to install the Cyanogen ROM, but I simply can't start download mode, when connected to the USB pressing the Vol up + menu + power sequence, the phone just starts normally (The OS will load completely). adb reboot download doesn't work too, vol up + vol down + power and plugging in the usb cable doesn't work.. I did several hard resets and I removed root too, noone of those worked. I don't know if that is relevant, but I installed a patched google play (4.1.10 Chelpus version), I could not find a way to remove that. I can't reroot too because I would need to start my phone in download mode. Anyone knows what is happening?

are you connecting your phone to PC before you go to download-mode???
try this: download-mode (Vol up + Menu + Power) and now connect your device with your computer!
flash CWM or whatever you want...

That did not work, when it is about to go to download mode it seems that it fails and either boots the OS or just turns off (depends on how much I hold the buttons), and since adb reboot download doesn't work I think something got corrupted (adb finds the device and reboots it, but it just starts up normally).
I'm not sure why, but noone of the articles I read mentioned the actual CORRECT download mode sequence, which is: Volume Down + Home + Power buttons, and then click on Volume Up, it is working now. Thanks.

Well if you looked at the screen you would know what to press after vol down+home+power
oh my God,
you are all right.
i mixed up step one and two of Download-Mode - sorry
first you have to push Vol Down + Menu + Power (few seconds)
start odin as admin
second you connect your device to PC
third you push Vol Up
fourth you flash via Odin.
I often flash ROMs via Odin and / or use CWM so that works automatically ....

Dead phone after flashing TrinityVengance 1.3/1.4

Hi
I've flashed (including kernel) my phone (C6903) TrinityVengeanceRaptorXHD_1.3-XperiaZ1 and TrinityVengeanceRaptorXHD-LB_UB-Patch-V1.4 taken from here. Unfortunately after it was done my phone was also done.
There is no reaction on 3 buttons pressed at the same time and i cant get into flashmode or fastboot mode. Holding power button makes a single vibration that is being repeated as long as the PB is being hold.
Can anyone help me bringing it back to life? Can it be done not leaving the room or do i need some special tools or send it to guys that has these?
Regards
Wizzy
Hi
I've managed to rescue it. I'm not sure how i did that os i will put here steps that i've taken. Firstly i could not enter fastboot or flashmode by PButton + Vol UP or Vol Down button. I've opened flash tool and connected phone while holding power down button but after unpacking flash image it prompted to unplug the device and plug it again with volume down button being hold but nothing was happening.
So here are steps:
1. I've connected it to the AC and tired holding different combination of buttons ( to see if the led is working ). VIsualy no response has been noticed.
2. While flash tool was still hanged on prompted dialog i've connected the phone to the PC while holding volume down button.
3. It started flashing process.
Thansk & Regards

SM-G970F S10e unlocking bootloader

Hi,
i have a new S10e with latest DTM stock software G970FXXS3ASJG but i have problem following the guides to unlock the bootloader. In developer options i enabled oem unlocking (it is not grayed out yet).
First the combination of bixby and vol- does not boot to download mode -> but it works with vol+ and bixby button for recovery mode and then select reboot to bootloader or over adb with adb reboot download.
when i am in download mode all guides say to long press vol+
but nothing happens -> on the screen is only written press 7sec vol+ and power to cancel download mode/restart phone
Is the bootloader unlocking broken with latest firmware or am i doing somethin wrong ?
best regards,
Thomas
You think it that easy?
Sorry, you're using Samsung.
Check the guide, backup your data, as it will get wiped:

sorry if nobody understands me but the following steps do not work on G970F with the latest firmware ASJG :
"Power off your device. Press Bixby + Volume Down and plug in your device to a PC to boot into download mode
Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot"
i have to use adb or the recovery mode to get into download mode -> bixby and vol- does not work anymore
and the second in download mode there is no option displayed for long press vol+ to unlock bootloader
EDIT:
Good news ! I made it into the right download mode.
There are 2 download modes, 1 with the option to unlock bootloader and the second one without (can be reached with adb reboot download described in the guide is the wrong mode)
I had problems when trying the key-combo i pressed vol- and bixby (with connection to pc) for over 10 sec but it don't wanted to go to download mode.
For me it is now easier to get into real download mode for bootloader unlocking -> hold vol- and bixby and press power (ca. 1 second only)

Question Question about booting into Boot Loader

I'm now finally trying to flash the T-Mobile version onto my sm-g998u1, When I follow the instructions to get into bootloader it just restarts the phone normally like a regular reboot? Any guidance on getting this done correctly. Below are the steps I saw how to reboot into bootloader:
Turn off your Galaxy S21.
Connect it to your computer using a USB cable.
When the charging percentage level animation stops, hold the Volume UP + Power keys simultaneously for 5-7 seconds.
Keep both the hardware buttons pressed until you enter the Android Recovery mode.
Once you enter the recovery mode on your Galaxy S21, highlight Reboot to Bootloader using the Volume Down key and select it using the Power button.
Your Galaxy S21 will boot into the Download Mode
Much thanks and sorry again for the many posts.

Hi mate
Maybe step 3 is not quite right, you can check this thread it has a lot of information
Reboot Phone in Download Mode: Connect USB-cable to your computer. Hold down "Volume up" and "Volume down" at same time. While holding down, connect the USB-cable to your phone. Or use the command "adb reboot-bootloader"
Do not wait for the % animation.....
Further information here
You can also do it via ADB (adb reboot download)
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Glad I could help

Try connecting it to its type C cable either on charge or connected to PC, before doing the hard reset process.
Press power + volume up + volume - to force restart.
When it's restarting, just before Samsung Logo pops up, release volume - and keep holding power and volume + to go into recovery mode.
