Question Can Realme GT 2 has a custom rom? - Realme GT 2

As title, i just bought myself a realme gt 2- global version, everything is in general quite good, from screen, camera to battery life. But realme multitasking is terrible, with 8gb ram but i cant keep more than 5 apps in background. I wonder if this smartphone running snapdragon 888 can have a custom rom something like pixel experience?

I do not think the bootloader can easily be unlocked, especially on the Global version.
As far as I understandm the Chinese devices allow for the bootloader to be unlocked so that Chinese resellers can flash the global ROM and ship the phones internationally.
Perhaps Realme will change their minds and allow us to unlock the bootloader and make custom ROMs, however I would not count on it.

it will be available for sure in the near future.

MIUI update UK model

Hi there. I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 (from Three) which I have currently got the region set to India, mainly so that I can use Face Unlock, Theme Store, etc.
What I'd like to know is, if I continue to use the Mi 8 under the India region, will I still get the MIUI 10 update when it's released, as its not set to UK?
Thank you for any help on this matter.
Unlock your BL, install MIUI EU and you can freely choose any themes you want without any stupid restriction from Xiaomi.

Thank you for your response, but I haven't a clue how to unlock the BL and where I'd get a non hacked version of MIUI EU from.
I'd probably end up bricking the phone. lol
I'm just worried that if I keep using it under a different region, I won't receive the update.

Usually updates are pushed to phones based on the build number. If yours is a UK variant then it'll have a UK variant build number (most likely). I wouldn't have thought the region setting you put in when first starting & setting up the phone would make any difference. But don't quote me on that...

Many thanks for that.
I initially bought this phone as a work phone, but I actually enjoy using it more than my S8+, plus I've heard that MIUI 10 (plus Android Pie) is way better than MIUI 9.6.
Thanks again.

I'm actually not an owner of the phone myself (yet) still torn between this and the Honor 10. Hard to choose between such good budget phones these days.
Glad I could help though.

I can confirm that MIUI 10 based on Pie is WAY better. Just the "OK Google" hotword detection to fix and it'll be pretty much perfect.
I'm in the UK, use mine with both my work and personal SIM in - I'm running the latest ROM from Xiaomi.eu (MIUI 10.2 - Weekly 8.11.23).
It's great.
Also have installed the custom GCam for it, which is superb! I use the Xiaomi cam for video and portrait mode and the Google Camera for everything else - night mode is seriously impressive.

I bought my daughter the Honor 10 for her last birthday. It's a great looking phone with a very good camera/cameras. The back of the Honor 10 (blue) has to be seen to be believed, it looks amazing.
I must admit, the Xiaomi does have the edge when it comes to the screen, but it is a close battle.
I do love the camera slightly more (it's very close) on the Xiaomi too, but everything just seems a little more stable with the Honor 10 and it's EMUI skin on Android 8. I've had a few older apps that have refused to run on the Xiaomi.
That will hopefully change on the next Xiaomi update.

As no one is not giving a answer, so I'll try to help you out.
It's no matter what you have chosen, if you have the stock recovery, you'll always receive OTA updates. You can not change the stock recovery without an unlocked bootloader which can be achieved by the official tool provided by Xiaomi, for further information, use Google.
Unlocked bootloader gives you access to all functions of your device, and this means that you can use even a Pixel device Android "mod", and it's the closest to the native Android.
If you are using IM apps too often, you'll notice that your notifications are not being delivered just in time. also, MIUI has tons of bloatwares and limitations that won't allow you to use your device freely, and appearantly Xiaomi is collecting some "not innocent" data from your phone, so you might want to consider your privacy. These are just my perspective as an user that was on Android for 7 years, I hope you will enjoy your device.
Have a great night.

Rooting chinese Mi 8 with unlocked bootloader and global ROM

Last week I purchased a Mi 8 from a mexican version of eBay, and I come from the legendary Mi A1.
I wanna have faith and think the seller did not have any bad intentions when he sold it to me, because it's a chinese version with MIUI 10 global ROM. It obviously has its bootloader unlock.
I'm aware of:
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Unlocked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + China ROM + Locked booloader = safe
China Mi 8 + GLOBAL ROM + Locked booloader = BRICK!
To keep it short, I wanna be able to use Google Pay and Netflix, so I wanna root my Mi 8. As far as I read, I don't need to flash MIUI.eu, only root and use Magisk tricks.
I downloaded this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1110-t3869729, and another one from a site that I don't remember.
I didn't want to flash it because I don't want to risk bricking it ot bootlooping it. With the Mi A1 I needed to boot into a "temporary" TWRP and then flash the real thing, so I tried the same thing. The TWRPs didn't boot at all. So, is it safe to flash that latest TWRP? If I root and tinker with Magisk, will I be able to bypass Google's certification?
It is safe to flash that recovery. I'm afraid that you might have to decrypt your phone by formating data. Otherwise I really recommend you to flash Xiaomi.eu, it passes SafetyNet and it has less bloatware, you don't even need to flash Magisk. I was on Xiaomi.eu since RN3 MTK as that ROM is originally from my country and it was the best option and I still consider their ROM as one of the best if not the best.

So, the TWRP is only flasheable and not bootable? I don't mind the bloatware,as I find it actually useful, except for the Mi theme and app store (which I already uninstalled). Is the EU ROM aat the latest version? The day I got my phone I got the 10.2.1.0 update and installed it normally.
To root I have to do the verity dm thing, right?
Lastly. I only want to root and not flash any other ROM for the time being, because I like to edit root/system/media stuff and some build prop lines for fun. That's what I did with my A1 to entertain myself.
EDIT: The formatting data part is really a bummer. It took me a day to set everything up and I don't wanna do it again.

You have to flash twrp recovery > reboot to twrp recovery > root device with magisk and then reboot to miui.
Yes eu rom is always updated to latest version!

It's safe. You can install each custom you want. You must remember only one thing. It's not allowed to install global miui and lock bootloader.

It depends on what are your preferences. If you will be use any custom rom there is not any reason to pay more for global version. Remember that if you would like to has locked bootloader you can use only chinese miui rom ( Chinese and English language only) on Chinese version.

The Pros of a Mi 9T Pro over a K20 Pro?

So, I was a bit impatient when getting this phone, and I got it around 2 months earlier (first week of July), in the form of the K20 Pro. Now that the Mi 9T Pro has come out, I wanted to know what exactly are the differences? From what I gathered, my phone with the global rom just has its bootloader already unlocked, and the global rom is fake. I noticed as much when I found out that I wouldn't be receiving updates for my OS, and some banking apps were either warning me about root access, or refusing to work (Google Pay).
What I was thinking was to flash the Mi 9T Pro ROM on my phone when it became available. Considering it should be official, I thought that it might work using the MiFlash tool as well, which would be pretty nice. However I'm not sure whether this is possible. What I wanted to ask was - is it possible to flash the OFFICIAL EU ROM for the Mi 9T Pro, on my K20 Pro (w/ the fake global rom)? And if so, would there be any benefits (outside of finally getting updates, and having an official ROM)? I doubt I'd be able to relock my bootloader (and frankly I don't want to risk hardbricking my phone...), but I can circumvent that with Magisk.
Thanks a ton!

Yes you should be able to flash the official EEA fastboot ROM, when it's available. And you are correct in saying you won't be able to lock the bootloader. Benefits depend on your definition and what your comparing against. Since the 7 day wait was over I've been on custom ROMs. I'm my opinion there are no benefits to being on any official MIUI, but then I don't like MIUI. When on the EEA ROM you should get OTA updates, after that I'm struggling to think of a benefit. I'm sure others can add more.

I'd honestly agree with you - I'm a bit of a purist. But at this point, I've become way too attuned to the gestures, and they all feel so second-nature to me now, compared with what I've heard for Android.
Also my worries about custom ROMs were about some hardware compatability, since it's a relatively new device. Like the camera for example, I was planning on installing a custom ROM later on down the line, like in 2020.
That's great to hear though, thanks a bunch!

The MIUI gestures was the only thing I liked and actually missed after the week, I'm hoping the Android Q gestures will be good enough. As things stand you may not have to wait until the end of the year, things are picking up the pace more lately. Most ROMs are stable, provided you follow the installation guides fully and not take shortcuts. Really it's camera apps that still have some catching up to do. The ANX app, which is the stock MIUI camera app, still has bugs. It crashes when trying to access the telephoto lens. I've not found a GCam port that works well yet, the one that can access all three lenses constantly has FC's. And ones that are more stable don't access all three lenses.

Question custom ROM availability

Hi
I just purchased a mi 11 12/256 china version, bootloader unlocked, flashed with eu ROM 12.5.7 stable.
I am looking for any custom ROMs available but not finding anything. Specifically looking for a fully de-googled ROM. I have checked and /e/, calyx, graphene, Lineage, and many others and not found any compatible for this device. Anyone know of any? Possibly prereooted ROMs I can remove google myself?
I'm new to customizing phones so thanks
at moment we dont have proper custom rom . some of us use GSI until we have custom rom .
There is AOSP rom, android 12 beta from google... working nice
This phone is couple months old, still no custom ROM, weird.

Yes but the Note 10 Pro is much more affordable. So, more people have the device. Also developers need to be able to be able to buy the device themselves.
yeah i actually sold my oppo x2 pro and bought the Mi11 cause i assumed like the mi8, mi9 and mi10 that a lot of custom roms would be available.. we are not off to a good start!! at least it has root

Question Flash MIUI 14 EEA beta or stay on Xiaomi.eu ?

On one hand it looks like EEA has finally catched up with most of the missing features from Xiaomi.eu/China(see PS) and you're also getting Android 13, easy OTAs, ability to lock the bootloader and a whole bunch of optimization and new features from MIUI 14. And a bigger support community since it's the official ROM after all. And access to even more BETAs since Xiaomi.eu doesn't do betas on this device
On the other hand, all of this will come to xiaomi.eu when the stable's out anyway. And it will probably be even better than stock. And there still might be a few missing Chinese features that will never be added to EEA/Global.
It's really mixed for me tbh. What do you guys think ? What are you going to do ?
PS: I know there's no China ROM for 11T Pro, but Xiaomi.eu actually ports Chinese features even without the Chinese ROM.

Better time to stay on the Xiaomi EU rom and keep the advantages that do not exist on the stock (call recorder, Full themes, etc.).
On a stock beta version you can have bugs, sometimes not too serious or sometimes you will have to downgrade.
When it comes to stock ROM support, you will only get answers if you want to buy a new phone.
I had the 11 t pro but disappointed with the autonomy and I replaced it with a 12 pro which initially had less autonomy than the 11 t pro with A12 but A13 corrected this problem.

What if A13 fixes battery on 11T Pro as well.
AS for tech support, I guess the stock has a bigger community where I can find the issues easier. But the xiaomi.eu community is much nerdier, so it depends lol

My SOT is never the same, what I see is that since A13 I charge my phone less often and I've gone from 24 hours to 30/36 hours.
Many report the improvement in autonomy with A13.

On Xiaomi Eu rom you have to be precise and make a logcat for bugs.
Yes, but I'm getting older and contrary to most of this community, I don't like tinkering with my device that much anymore. I see that MIUI 14 introduces most of the features that I loved from xiaomi.eu and I'd love the comfort of OTAs, safety and no headaches due to having an unlocked bootloader and just generally, the ease of use of a stock device with no sort of tinkering whatsoever. And just easier back-ups. Also, I'd like having beta access to Xiaomi since xiaomi.eu has none for my device
Now, I'm wondering if flashing using the official xiaomi tool will just lock bootloader and fix/restore everything to stock.

Hi, I had quite a nooby question, I have an Indian variant of 11T Pro which is running on its latest Indian variant of MIUI, can I relock my bootloader during flashing of EEA variant of MIUI or will that brick my device? Not sure if this the correct thread, I'm sorry if it isn't, didn't know where to ask this question. Thanks

On this device (VILI) you can re-lock the bootloader with any stock fastboot rom with Miflash.
