Hello all you good folks.
My name is Tony.
I'm in New Zealand. I'm a recently retired component level electronics technician, mainly specialized in two-way radio communication and some industrial equipment repairs.
I hadn't touched any Android device until a few weeks back when I bought an Android head unit for my housemate's car so I've had to blunder my way through setting it up and another one for a friend who saw the first one and wanted one the same. I'll be in the Android Head Unit part of this site picking the collective brains and hope not to incur the wrath of a couple of contributors there who I see are rather scathing of new arrivals. I have spent a considerable amount of time over recent weeks reading the threads there before deciding to create an account so some of the questions I had have been answered but there are some things I have not seen any mention of so far.
Feel free to ask me anything i haven't mentioned here.

Given that you have only 3 posts I will post the Following.

How about creating a new forum area???
It would be nice to move all these posts to a separate group where it might say "Member Sales" with a notice saying that XDA has nothing to do with the ads. That way they could reach only the people that want to buy an item instead of everybody else. Just a little tired of seeing so many posts from people selling their used Kaisers/Tilts.
hi guys, im selling a brand new kaiser for $270 inlcuding shipping, if anyone is interested, pm me
You Joined Specifically to Sell your phone huh?
Wow,
Everyone, I have to caution you. You never know who is who behind their internet handle.
To skyler I must say that you would be better off Selling it on eBay, they have a buyer protection program which makes buyer feel soo much better.
Ebay gets a portion of the sale too..
I can't believe Jimmy actually came around.. lol
well if you are trying to sell
I would suggest listing the firmware & programs installed how long you had it, if it is unlocked or not type of payments you will accept. where you are located photo's etc asking people to buy a unit sight unsean with almost no description from somebody with no post what country even and does $270 shipped mean any where in the world this is a world wide forum with people literally around the world. anything you can do to raise you credibility will help you sell faster.
this person as jimmy said just joined to sell his phone so most likely it has absolutely nothing but the stock ROM included on it.
wow, well it is true i just joined basically to put my phone for sale which im sure anyone could figure out once you see i posted the same day i joined and have no other posts. i figure i would have more people interested here since everyone here is into modifying tilt or planning to get one.
i did post on ebay, too many charges and had one buyer who didn't pay after he won.
its a new phone i got through insurance because i lost my old one but then found the old one later on. all the stuff is still in it original wrapping except the phone and adaptor which i used for few weeks until i found mine.
i can post pictures of the phone if anyone is truely interested.
and if not then sorry for the inconvience............
Hi All,
Just thought I'd share my experience with NeTimes.com
I bought a load of stuff from them for my HD2 on the recommendations of people on here. I've been a silent frequenter of the website for a while (since I got my phone).
I bought some accessories from them at the beginning of Feb- I was very impressed and bought more mid Feb for the second batch never to arrive. They blamed it on the mail and told me to be patient.... I kept e-mailing them and eventually gave up on my products arriving and asked for my money back.
They now ignore my e-mails and have removed my account from their website.
(I hope you can tell by my English that I'm not a rival Chinese company!!)
I thought it my responsibility to warn you or give the flip side.
Also, get some advice on what I can do now? Thanks,
I nearly purchased from them but when they took the car holder I wanted off the site, I decided not to get the rest of the stuff I wanted.
Generally I tend to only use Hong Kong based companies via eBay where they rely on feedback to get their business. From an open website there is less incentive to comeback from your point of view to have your voice heard. Sorry you got your fingers burnt and thanks for the warning.
That's very strange....
That's weird, i have also purchased stuff from Netimes, and it arrived by Fedex on schedule. i personaly had a very good allround expereince with them.....what was the delivery company?!..haven't you received a package tracking ID?
P.S.
If your'e from Europe, be aware that because of the Volcanic Ash Cloud coming from Iceland, Air traffic and transport was realy messed up..so, some deliveries could take a while to reach their destination.
Did they realy delete your account??!!
Frequent customer
I have ordered from Netimes at least 5 times and have never had any issues with the company.
Ordered twice at Netimes without any problem Did you pay by Paypal? Don't they have something like a buyer-protection with a money-back-guarantee?
Hello msu_nav
We are on XDA-Developers now and just checked out your feedback. May I apologize for all the inconvenience caused.
While I don't have your order number in hand, the general issue is with post office, where transit time is not guaranteed and really dependent on multiple factors, such as the previous bad weather condition across Europe.
I understand it's been a long while since your purchase, but we still welcome your feedback by emailing to [email protected] and see what we can do for you.
Cheers

Apologies if this has been posted before, I did do a search but only found one post of someone being given a fitbit for Christmas
Anyone use fitbit here?
My wife recently decided we both needed to lose some weight and get fit and bought us a Fitbit Flex each. In terms of making me exercise it is doing the job as I feel I HAVE to get to my target of 10K steps and 5 miles every day.
I used to be quite active - taking part in Triathlon up to and including the IronMan distance on a regular basis but marriage and a young family curtailed an awful lot of that, then snapping my achilles tendon 18 months ago has put paid to any speedy return to anything more than a brisk walk.
Anyway, who else has a Fitbit?
Anyone fancy taking part in a an XDA workweek challenge?
Don't own a fitbit, or have any intention of being something similar, but would be interested in doing some exercise challenge to keep fit (I'm not fat but its good to stay active).
If you made it somethin like walk xxx km and do 10 pushups a day for a week, I would definitely join.
It's a good proposal however you decide to do it.
I have a retailer business here in Singapore. We sell mobile phone accessories along with our retails of the latest mobile phones. The Peterson Group was introduced to me by a friend of mine when my distributor failed to meet my needs. At first, it was a good deal. They have the latest model of almost all accessories in the market. They showed us samples and made great deals for us. Since we are new partners, they even threw some free accessories in the package as well.
They have nice staff, very accommodating. My business clicked and many people came to us since the products that we have are fresh from the market and we are on the lead compared to our competitors. While their product is still being shipped, ours are already nearly out of stock. I was even dreaming of expanding our business, renting stalls in big malls or even bring my business to Jakarta, Indonesia where my wife’s family resides. However though, the reality became a nightmare when about 3 months after I signed contract with The Peterson Group, the complaints on our products’ defect came frequently. We dealt with angry and frustrated customers. We know this is normal in this kind of business and we dealt each complaint with patience.
There were times that I was even the one who defended TPG and thought that maybe some of the customers break their chargers in purpose to get a refund. When one customer threatened to sue of having fraud products, it is when I became alarmed. The test and sample products seemed to be working but why is it that the deliveries are not working when they should be? I tried contacting TPG about this. After hundreds of connecting calls to so many people and telling my story a few thousand more, I was finally promised that they would conduct an investigation on this. I decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves. After two weeks, no one came and when I called, I get connected to voicemail and no one called me back. I now know that I have been deceived. I don’t want others to lose thousands of dollars like me. I am now working with my attorney on legal actions that I can take against them.
.
You have to sue them, dude. It is against the law to sell defected products.
Reply to The Peterson Group Fraud Company Failed Promises
Heard of this issue a year ago but wasn’t sure the details behind it.
Every business has its own flaws. It may be that they just made a huge miscalculation at that time.
How do these scammers even get away from bad things they do? As I know it, The Peterson Group is one of the leading wholesalers of mobile accessories in Asia. Is this account true?
Is The Peterson Group still operating until now? How far will they be able to fool everyone?
There are a lot of fraud people especially in these kinds of business. With a lot of available products around offering the same brand, you would not know which one is legit.
I don’t think The Peterson Group can do this kind of thing. I have been with them for a few years now and nothing like this happened.
Same issue for me.
Same issue for me. But I wasn’t able to realize it before hand since the communication was constant. First, they were not able to deliver my products on time which caused me precious business time and kept me from reaching my monthly goal quota. The representative I talked to said that they were having big update on their shipping lines which halted some of their operations but I was promised that they are to deliver in one week’s time. I relented. They delivered after a week and a day. I let it pass. One time, when my staff was showing the functionality of one of the accessories to a potential customer, it suddenly burst into flames. The shame that I have felt in front of that shocked customer was really to the core. It also caused us a lot of money and I even suspended my staff, thinking that he has demonstrated wrong while we do the investigations. Our electrics engineer checked and it showed that there are defects on the product itself. We also checked the other deliveries and it confirmed that the products have been created from different parts of dismantled brands. I immediately contacted The Peterson Group regarding this. To make the matters worse, complaints started pouring out as well from emails, calls and personal means. I decided to end it when they weren’t able to give me anymore excuses. I am now with a different distributor.
I am actually wondering how they get away with it? They even hire people around to get involved. I hear they are a big company. How do they manage to fool even the government?
