Firmware flashing

Is it possible to flash the firmware of another carrier and have the phone work with said carrier? Just curious.

That's not really how it works.
Different variations have support for different frequencies, you can't change that.
Also, if it's SIM locked, you'll still need to SIM unlock it.

Unlocking T-Mobile variant

As we all know, in order to unlock your bootloader , the device needs to be sim unlocked from tmobile. In order for that, the device needs to be fully paid off and active for 40 days.....or does it ? Maybe im crazy or have missed something in the past few weeks but i just opened the unlock app and requested a permanent unlock and viola ! Unlock approved. Again i may be late here but if you are reading this and have not paid off your device yet, try your luck and let me know how it goes. :victory:

Did the same exact thing last night. I had previously requested a temp unlock twice before and in the middle of the 2nd Temp unlock period I requested permanent unlock and as you say, "viola!", It was unlocked. Next on my check list *unlock bootloader* !

I had to wait for 40 days and today is my lucky day. I just chatted with the T-Mobile rep and he unlocked my phone finally.

Is it required to unlock the bootloader if you don't want to root?
I'm not interested in rooting or custom roms at the moment for this phone. I want to unlock it so I can use other sims besides Tmobile while I travel. I also want to change it to the stock OxygenOS so that the second sim slot becomes available. Can I just unlock the sim and then flash it to the international OOS without unlocking the bootloader? I've read that it takes your phone's DRM from L1 to L3 and not everyone has been able to restore it back to L1 after re-locking the bootloader. Or is there a way to guarantee you can get it back to L1?

Same here, I just wanted to unlock my phone so I can flash the international rom to get the updates faster.
As far as I know, your bootloader must be unlocked to do so.

There may be a possibility. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78546773&postcount=1186 I'm not sure if this person unlocked the bootloader initially or it stayed locked through the whole process. I asked though, so hopefully I get a reply soon.

Just do the conversion process install 9.0.11 via local upgrade and relock bootloader with fastboot oem lock I did it last night in about 15 minutes. Now running open beta 2 on the T-Mobile variant. I get my dual SIM tray tomorrow and will officially complete the conversion.

Also, where did you buy your dual sim tray? I was looking for one for the 6T, but only came across the dual sim trays for the 6.

Knox Configured by?

Is there a way to wipe who configured Knox on my phone? I don't even have the option to go through an initial setup process because of this lockdown on my phone.
I have a carrier unlocked from rent a center, but when I enable developer mode, the developer menu is missing completely. Verified that it is enabled.
Assuming the bootloader hasn't been unlocked, most likely no.

You could try using a shortcut app or the one built-in to Nova Launcher to try to access the Developer Options menu.

Yes and download mode etc. I just downloaded a shortcut to developer options and that did work. There is no listing at all for OEM unlock. But this is an already unlocked model, maybe it doesn't apply?

I've never heard of a Note 9 coming with it's bootloader unlocked by default. Once you're in download mode, have you tried flashing a new image with Odin?

[Sprint] Unlock Bootloader?

I know the Sprint bootloader is locked, but does anyone know if there will be a way to work around this?
I have seen some threads on a trick to unlock the Verizon bootloader even though it also comes locked- would this work for Sprint? Thanks
UPDATE: What is the Pixel version of MSM/ODIN? I know how to get to EDL mode on it, but from there how would you go about flashing a different firmware to potentially get around the bootloader? Anyone know?

Mine is not the unlocked version and I read a few threads saying it isn't grayed out if you don't activate the sim first, but alas it was still locked.

[Bootloader and TWRP] LG V40 Model LM-V405UA AT&T.

Hi everyone,
My device is LG v40 with model number: LM-V405UA of AT&T. Until now, I can't find a way to access the bootloader. I tried two way below:
adb reboot bootloader OR
turn off the phone (or reboot), as soon as it turns on, hold volume down while USB cable is connected
But nothing happens, my device just restart. I still don't know why?
Hope to see the answers!
Thank you very much,
