Hi all!
OnePlus definitely seems to be considering India to be one of its prime markets and is releasing it on 22nd June 2017 - just 2 days after the global launch.
The invites were on sale on 12th June 2017 for INR 999 and included a whole bunch of goodies.

I managed to purchased the invite and will be attending the event. Hoping OnePlus has some more surprises for us in store!
Lets discuss what we are looking forward to most in the phone and who is sure of picking it up! Let us see if the people attending the event can get in touch beforehand so that we can meet in person there!
Hopefully I shall get it if I am able to order in time from Amazon on the 22nd, I prefer Amazon or buy from an experience store rather than buying from the Popups or launch events

Even I was planning on buying from Amazon/OnePLus store. The invite code and voucher for INR 999 will be valid for 3 days it seems so it is not mandatory to purchase at the event. Of course if it is unbelievably awesome I might just end up buying it immediately!

Buying it on the launch day may give you some free accessories like back cover just like they did for the 3T so now that you have the invite code and the pass you should go for it. I am from New Delhi so the popup would come here by 28th and Amazon would deliver before then being prime with them.

No they won't. 3t was a special case or something. Just one phone a year would however not keep them in the limelight for a full year so they would most likely pull off a OnePlus x5 later in October. Not sure though, just a hunch. And yeah, I bought the OnePlus3 on the launch day as well

advantages:
bragging rights, able to get your hands on the phone before anyone else, possible freebies like cases
disadvantages:
usually first batch of phones *might* have any teething troubles which usually get fixed in subsequent batches.. most companies wont be able to stress test it for normal usage.. software issues can be ironed out by updates but not hardware issues like what happened with Note 7

thank you! my primary phone gave up on me recently. making do with a redmi2 temporarily, but hate the lag. used to use nexus4 till a year back.. what a wonderful device that was!
really need a value for money device - onepplus3t and oneplus5 are in consideration set. not really concerned about bragging rights just need a great fast phone for work if oneplus was still selling 128gb version of oneplus3t, i'd buy it right now!

From New Zealand here, hoping there is no "global" and "Chinese" models with different bands supported so I can simply buy off Aliexpress or Gearbest etc and get it sent straight here.

I can't seem to find videos or reviews with different models like the 3t.
All I can see is the a5000 which supposedly has international bands.

Has anyone bought anything this pricey from the US before and had a good experience? I know I could just go with shopmate but they are slow and I kind of need to get this before I move.

The main one I would trust is the shipmate from Australia post. But if for a bit extra there's some 3rd party sites that sell grey imports to Australia that u can check out.
What would the total price be with the oneplus + shopmate?
Apparently prices are going to drop in 2 days. Also more 3rd party websites will sell it then too

I think you've got the right idea @Jamie_oppo, I ordered it and got it sent to ShopMate.
Price of the Oneplus 5 128GB and the car charger was AU$779.35 (including a $19.01 foreign transaction fee from my bank), according to the shopmate shipping calculator it will cost AU$32.85 to get it sent to NSW, making the total AU$812.20.
Whilst I know that they grey imports are usually ok, I think there will be less risk getting it from oneplus direct and going with the slower Australia Post.
I'll let you know how it performs on Telstra when it arrives. It just got to Shopmate at about 3am AEST so shouldn't be long now ... I hope ...
Edit: Since you asked about price I just thought I would share my own comparison on the matter in case anyone else was interested ...
notes on the prices, all in AU$, all Australian stock prices not grey imports to try and keep things fair ... ish ...

A lot of the tech reviewers I've seen have been complaining about the price of the OP5 ... I don't get it, even to pay shipping to Australia I am saving a good sum of money compared to other flagships, take the Pixel and Samsung, for some people that is about $100 shy of a full weeks wage in savings. Seems like good value to me.
What are your thoughts?
Yeah that's not a bad price for the 128gb and dash car charger.
I would also buy a converter from us plug to au plug and see if dash charge works. They are like 10$ from bunnings or kogan.

It would appear that we do get massively ripped off, but the thing is these big companies won't change unless we ALL (even the non-tech lovers among us) do something about it that hurts their bottom line, take for example when adobe first brought in their creative cloud, it was so much more expensive than in the US, their excuse ... "Local Optimisations" ... WTF we speak the exact same language you dumb arses... then the government had their IT price enquiry and the price magically came down ...
I only went for the 128GB version for the storage, I don't give a damn about the RAM (haha that rhymed ... lol), On my current phone I have about 45GB of music alone
Your bank will most likely have an international purchase fee, it would be as rare as a dragon egg if they didn't, you would need to check with them exactly what it is but it's usually a fixed transaction fee (sometimes 10-25 cents) plus a percentage of the whole transaction, or they will just take their cut out of the exchange rate (say for example the exchange rate $0.75 they would only give you maybe $0.72), Just depends on how they handle it. Take for example my bank, they charged "2.5% of the amount of the International Transaction". You can normally find this info in a "Fee Schedule", my banks is here for your reference: ingdirect com au / pdf / Orange_Everyday_Fees_and_Limits_Schedule pdf.

This is good information for non Oneplus owners though. First time OnePlus prospective purchasers may not have signed up for an account yet.
Sounds like they are having a hard time moving units after jello effect so they are sending emails to people trying to get them to buy. If anyone wants to buy one they can see on the site themselves that they are available if they had interest to buy one.

Well if you come to xda and have interest in buying one I'm sure you would put in an order already or be checking the website to see when it becomes available immediately. If you wanted one it makes 0 sense to wait for one to be available immediately on the site to buy though.
I have seen many Iphone users shifting to OnePlus as well many a more samsung and other android brand users now only going for OnePlus.
Matter of fact is I have been thinking from quite a long time now, when OnePlus's parent brand OPPO is aggressively doing marketing campaigns all over Pakistan and operating then why haven't OnePlus officially launched here ...
We, the OP fans, still either wish that someone from abroad comes so that we request to bring OP for us or we buy a 2nd hand used OP from anyone who came from abroad or some of us like me get the phone from a local Online shopping website of which they charge comparitively very high price.
OP should be officially launched in Pakistan as well.
I am still hoping for someone coming from US to get me my OP5T if anyone here could help me in this please do let me know
I was watching OP5T live event in which they said when first launched the OnePlus One and it became successful, websites and people started selling OP on a very high price so then they adopted this mechanism to sell the phone globally from their own website.
I would like to bring this information to OnePlus officials that this is still happening here in Pakistan and yes we the users are suffering, websites and people are offering OP5T in PKR 65000/- which is around USD 625.

I've ordered from trading Shenzhen and giztop before. Both are pretty fast. Tradingshezhen customer service sucks though, I asked if I would be able to return a phone if I left it brand new sealed in box and they told me I would have to pay $50 + return shipping + I think 20% restocking fee and I better like the phone. I would have understood if it was something like shipping + 10%, but what rubbed me wrong was how they told me that I better like the phone. I kid you not that's exactly how they said it to me lmao. Giztop was okay, their support was a lot more professional but they got some information wrong and they also took too long to ship out the phone I initially wanted. I eventually ended up cancelling the order and ordering a different phone from them. That one came pretty quickly at least. I used the GTRE4 code or something like that to get a discount as well. Both places have marked up prices compared to ali so you are paying a premium for faster shipping.
I've ordered my mi11 from aliexpress since it was the cheapest option, and only like $20 more for twice the storage. Plus most places didn't have the leather options that I wanted. Hopefully it ships out soon. I remember I ordered a poco f2 pro from aliexpress and it never shipped even after waiting over a month. I ended up cancelling the order and getting the ace2 from giztop.

On December 31 I ordered two Mi 11 8/128 in blue for a total of just under 1200 euros and received the tracking numbers today. Deliveries are made by DHL priority line. I hope they come next week.
I have ordered at cect and it's shipped it should be there until 20 January.
