Hi everybody
Let's start with this , i am an idiot
now we got that out of the way let's talk about what happened
i recently tried to flash this rom P1000JPJM4 all well except i was stuck to samsung logo so i tried to restore my old ROM but i couldn't because the bootloader was locked ... so i tried other roms non of them worked ...
so i thought of installing P1000XWJMI then fixing the bootloader then go back to the old rom or stay on this one ...
before i start flashing P1000XWJMI the battery logo showed up with very little left but i started any way
the device went dawn while i was flashing so i disconnected it and plugged it in the wall for re-juice but the logo of a computer and a phone with a yellow triangle started flashing ... i left it for a while when i came back i reconnected it to the computer but i cant but it in download mod or pretty much do any thing just jet black screen
reconnected it to the wall started flashing again ... to the computer nothing
so the question is is my tab now just a shiny piece of plastic or is there a way around this ???
thanks in advance
should this be in Q & A area, not here in Developer Zone!!
wrong area dude!!
Seems like you bricked your device!! But bricking a Samsung Galaxy Aint Easy Task.
Have you try holding Vol - + Power for Download Mode?
sorry for that ..
nop no luck just a nice black screen nothing more
while we are at it what do you thing i should do with it ?
shuld i blend it
will it blend
Hold power down for 10 sec then leave tab charging for 4-6 hours and try to reflash either Power key vol down or vol up.
Odin should see the tab when charged.
Don't worry
thanks man
gonna try that
when i held the power down for 10 seconds it kept flashing after that is this acceptable ? i mean leaving it charging while the freaking picuter is flashing ?
thanks again
so i did what you sugested ... nothing
the device is not recognized nor powering on
any good ideas ...or bad even
Leave it pluged in your comeputer for at least 30 minutes and when it gets connected to the pc push the power and vol. down buttons right away, just don't let go until it go into download mode. When I did that I had odin open, I don't know if that makes any difference.
I remember similar case to yours that was fixed after full charging of the battery.
Keep it charging for 6-8 hours then disconnect the cable and then push both Power and Vol-down buttons. If this does not bring download screen then try Power and Vol-up.
In case of success you should see tab-to-comp screen. Both screens indicate that the Tab is in download mode and you connect it to PC with ODIN and try reflashing.
Full battery charge is critical for the Tab - computer handshake. The cable is multifunctional and based on voltage level computer/tab make decision about the purpose of the connecting line.
thanks every body i think i got it
just left it connected for about 2 houres and it is poping again
trying to flash now
thanks again
I hope it worked, its pretty scary.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
it worked
yah msewidan no kiddin ...
i was looking for a local samsung dealer in google completly lost hope
Hi there,
I have unlocked my XZ before. Yesterday I seemed to flash a wrong kernel, and after that my XZ cannot work any more.
At first I tried to press the power button and it gave me no response, so did I do the hard reset(power button + volume up for seconds). Then I kept it charging on the wall to see what gonna happen, about 8 hrs passed and nothing special came out so I pull it out of the power. After a while when I press the power button again the power led blinked for three times just as the phone got too low battery to boot, then I charged it again, but the power led went off after several minutes. I tried to get it into flash mode or fastboot mode but I got no luck.(if I could get it into those modes I know how to recover it)
I saw the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170 and it talks about charging cycle like this:
On a working phone there are different stages of a battery's charging cycle. The stages are listed in order they happen. The cycle goes from a completely dead battery through a phone running on battery and back to a completely dead battery.
1.Dead battery. No response from the power button, no screen and no led.
2.Connect to charger
3.low battery level charging mode. This is when just the RED led is on and no screen. At this stage the battery's charge is to low to turn the phone on, but it is charging.
4.Kernel controlled off-line charging mode. This is when the battery has charged enough from step (3) and boots the kernel to charge the battery. The phone is off, but could be turned on using the power button. A quick press of the power button will show this battery icon. Icon will fill with charge. The kernel also controls charging when the phone is on.
5.Battery is fully charged.
6.Unplug the phone and turn on.
7.Battery is dead from normal use.
8.Repeat stages starting at (1)
The kernel of my phone got bricked so I think my phone can be charged on the step 3 but when the power is enough to power on it tries to get onto step 4, and then it fails to be in the offline charging mode, at same time the power led goes off, as it was totally dead. I think if I could get my phone into flash mode before it tries to be on step 4 it can be recovered but after several tries I still couldn't do it.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
If I were you I would try harder to get into fastboot and flash a kernel with recovery.
Still, whenever you have troubles on an Unlocked device, resort the official flashtool.

how do you flash a wrong kernel? there is only one Dev kernel.

Probably flashed the 4.2.2 version on 4.1.2 or the other way round.

fastboot and flash mode are at the lower levels and should not be affected by what Kernel you flash.
And since these modes do not use your screen, they don't really need a minimum battery level, although it wouldn't be safe to flash at low battery level.
What you can do is, power off your phone and disconnect from the wall charger.
Connect your phone to the PC while holding Volume Up.
This should put your phone in fastboot mode.
Let it stay this way for a couple of hours, you should be able to get some power in the battery.
Get the right kernel for your device's current firmware from here.

Install the kernel via fastboot
DooMLoRD said:
download the kernel package update.zip
save it on c:\ and extract the boot.img from the package
save the boot.img to the folder containing fastboot binary
flash the boot.img using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot from fastboot
Code:
fastboot reboot
the device should now start booting, enjoy the kernel

If you are unable to follow these instructions or you have any doubts, feel free to ask I'll do my best to explain.
Thanks to all the fellows who helped me before. The most serious problem was I couldn't even get my phone into fastboot mode or flashmode.
Finally I sent my phone to the customer service. Luckily enough they didn't check whether its bootloader is unlocked or not and returned it back to the factory. Still waiting for what's gonna happen.
Hello guys,
A while ago, I was just doing stuff I normally do with my phone. I flashed a ROM and it rebooted normally. I then flashed a MOD using TWRP recovery. As usual, every MOD that uses Aroma Installer has a "Reboot device after install" option so I chose that and then **** happened.
Out of nowhere my One suddenly shuts off (The install was done so...)
I have tried the sensor under bright light trick and my phone does vibrate once but nothing actually happens. Just a black screen and stuff.
Sometimes it does go into this screen where it shows a battery icon with thunder bolt in the middle (Yes I know that is the charging screen. But, I also believe that it acts like a progress bar and it does not do THAT.)
Then again, it dies and it doesn't have the charging LED nor would it turn on.
Help is appreciated. I know basic and complicated android stuff but I can't do any of that if my phone is dead
Edit: When I press the power button for a few seconds, it vibrates but nothing happens. The screen is still off and the charging LED is not turning on as well.
Edit: Okay, when I do get it to charge, it shows that charging screen and when I unplug it, it freezes with the charge light on. The phone is also heating up so that does mean it's charging
Regards,
TAM

No. But I was able to drain the battery and once I plug it in using the original HTC wall charger (which is the one that I always use to charge it.) it charged but the charging LED is blinking (mut have drained it self good overnight) am I making progress or did I make it worse?

It's difficult to say at this point, Personally I would just leave it charge over night. Then try and power it on with Volume Down+Power while still connected to the charger. And it definatly doesn't show up in device manager, not even as Unknown Device or QHUSB_DLOAD? I find that a little odd.
But there are signs of life so I think a good charge may do the trick.

Yes. I did plug it into my laptop's usb ports last night when it still had charge (usb 3.0 if that helps) but it was neither recognized nor visible in the device manager. I hope! I am now charging my phone as we speak. I hope it's not dead too
Okay so...I installed HTC Sync and still nothing. It was not recognized and it's still not booting
Try Windows 7 USB 2.0
just htc Drivers
Try to go to Boot loader and flash firmware
if it show battery with charging sign it means Soft Brick or battery problem
if it showed nothing like no charging light or nothing on screen then its Hard Brick

Then it is probably a soft brick or a battery problem. Because when I got home I immidiately pluged it into the wall charger for it to charge and it charged showing the charging screen with a blinking LED. One more thing, if I press the power button for a few seconds it vibrates and then nothing happens. I am planning to leave it charging over night. Is that a good idea?

can I ask what your flashed before it did this ?
also crazy question, but have you tried holding down the power button till the lights on the bottom flash approx. 12-15 times ? this resets the device, Ive had to do this after many flashes of various things.

I was flashing a MOD then after the installation finished, it asked if I wanted to "reboot now" so I tapped yes then the phone died and it won't start anymore. Yeah but how long should I hold the button? Just to clarify, my phone only vibrates if I hold the power button for a long time. It just keeps vibrating and vibrating

until the lights stop flashing, usually about 12 or 15 times cant quite remember exactly how many times they flash but its quite a few.
I know you said you tried the bright light trick, but you should also try this trick whilst holding down the power button.

Umm...but the buttons don't light up when I press the power button for a long time.
It does this but when I unplug it, it freezes like that with the LED on.
Edit: When I plug it in the computer it doesn't show up (I think that's good because it's a sign telling me that maybe the phone just needs a long ass charge). Now I will be leaving my phone to charge over night and hope that it will boot up in the morning. The phone becomes hot too while it's charging.
Note: I also do not have access to RECOVERY, BOOTLOADER and FASTBOOT.

if your phone is in warranty you should go to service centre

Okay so I plugged my phone into a laptop with USB 2.0 ports and it showed up in device manager as an "Unknown device". Not sure if it was caused by the phone showing the battery charging screen but anyway that happened. Is that a sign of life? What should I do about it?

Well as you have tried everything else, and now seeing some signs of life, you could give this a try, no harm in trying, it will either work or it wont.

What version of ubuntu do you recommend I use? I will be installing it on my flash drive so...
My Mi3 has switched off automatically and doesn't start again. The charger when plugged, the notification light keeps blinking red and when I removed it from charge and again plugged in, the phone is blank, the notification light also does not show up. I tried to boot into recovery by pressing volume up+power button, but that also doesn't work. I did not root my phone and I am on official miui v6 Rom. Please help!!
Try fastboot mode (power+vol down). If that doesn't work either then it's a hardware problem. If it works then proceeed to use Miflash in order to fix it.
From past 7hrs I've put the phone on charge and the red notification light still blinks, my phone is on now nut the charging % still shows 0 I don't know what to do
Use other charger.. Been through that prob.. I use 2A note 3 charger..
I've got an M8 charger as well, I'll try putting up that charger for Mi3 now..
I finally succeeded to boot into recovery mode, thought to wipe all data.. I selected wipe all data and now it's stuck at 98% and nothing is happening.. I am sick of it now. What do I do?

it seems you are using the mi recovery and wiping by mi recovery usually takes times just dont be in a hurry let it wipe it will take time and it usually get stuck at 98 but eventually will be 100%
once u wipe everything and flash a new ro dont forget to flash a custom recovery as well

I flashed into recovery not to flash a new Rom but to hard reset the phone.. and yes you were right, my phone did wipe completely( needed some patience at that time ) and now, after hard reset, my phone stayed normally but the charge was 0% and ids not charging.. what might be the problem??
Maybe you should use miflash and flash a new ROM via fast boot mode

Ran into the exact same problem yesterday. You need to use a higher output charger. After three different chargers, I came back to the original Mi3 charger and it started charging. I later used Ampere from the Play Store to see the output of different chargers and saw that this red-light blinking only comes with chargers having low output.
I have exactly the same issue. phone switched off and refuses to charge/boot.
whenever, i connect it to charger the red light comes up, the red light will be off after a while even when charger is kept connected.
again if i disconnect and connect the charger, the red light would come back.

I have exactly the same problem! And after a while the LED switch to Green, but when I try to start that phone, it doesn't work and screen only flashes few times and battery is recharging again from 1%
Useful guide
There are two methods suggested for you :
1. Hard turn on (just like taking out the battery for other phones) // Try this first
2. Try entering your recovery and reboot (or perform factory reset) in it.
To hard turn on:
1. Long press the power button for at least 10 seconds. Don't release until you see the Mi logo. Sometimes, more than 10 seconds is required. It depends on your case.
2. Release when you see Mi Logo.
To enter recovery:
1. Press the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time.
2 Release them when you see the Mi logo.
Now, you should be in the recovery mode.
Tell me if it works. Glad if it helps.

I suppose my phone is soft bricked. It doesn't get past the Huawei boot screen. I am still sort of able to enter bootloader and recovery, but I have a problem charging the phone also (which happened after I left in in fastboot mode connected to my PC for a little too long), which means no power to keep it on long for enough to flash rom via fastboot, and trying to do it via 3 key combo with UPDATE.APP on the memory card just says the image is incompatible. The thing with the battery is, when I plug it in it shows that red circle with lightning bolt in the middle like when it's charging, but it immediately changed to green (as if it's fully charged I assume) and the red led flickers. As I understand it, the red light flicking means a battery fault. I know when the red light stays on continuously it means the phone is charging, but that doesn't happen. It just blinks. I can disconnect the battery and retry and it always just keeps blinking, and turning it on means it'll die within 30 seconds. So I can't unbrick my phone if the battery won't charge and furthermore Best of ll is this is I installed a new battery 2 weeks ago and had no problem new battery. I even replaces it AGAIN when I thought the battery was faulty. So perhaps you guys know of some software, hardware, or unconventional trick to get it to charge. I'm very desperate for help! Thanks all for reading!
Just keep it plugged in overnight.

Your battery is drained.. That's the thing.. Charge it, the LED will blink red few times amd as you mentioned, red circle will turn green.. it doesn't mean that the battery is full charged, but instead, it means that the battery is charging... Let the battery charge for few minutes (possibly an hour or so). Do note whether the phone reboots or not.. if not.. its ok..
After charging your device, switch it off (if your device is turned on). Connect it to your PC and just press & hold the vol- key... It should go into fastboot mode... If it goes, then just flash the boot image of your current build..
I too faced similar problem few days back amd resolved it by doing this.. (I was on b596 when I faced this problem, I flashed b596 boot.img)

Did you recently flash anything to the phone

I thought the green circle and red flashing led meant doomsday for my device. I left it overnight at some point and it even got really hot. Strangest thing is, the screen doesn't turn off when it shows the red circle and blinking red led. And having left it overnight like that connected to the charger made the phone very hot and it didn't charge at all.

I did in fact flash some things, but even after that charging worked just fine! (that was before this charging problem) Just now it doesn't boot. (but I was certain flashboot would rescue me. I know I flashed something I shouldn't have, which is why I'm eager to get back into fastboot, but can't without any power and the PC USB to phone connection doesn't provide enough power for it to stay on.
This oddness started randomly while my phone was connected to my PC in fastboot mode (thankfully before trying to flash anything or running any commands)
I very sincerely hope someone has answers for me. I'm desperate as this was a gift and I just had to tinker. to try a better rom :crying:
But luckily I know this forum has the best experts around!
Is the problem the same as the people in this thread
Open the cell phone and disconnect the battery and reconnect it.
I had the same problem and solved it this way.

Either you open your back case and remove your battery..
Or connect your device to the PC but just by holding your vol- key, that will boot you in fastboot mode.. no matter how little charge you have, it should work

Hey there, thanks for your reply. I have in fact disconnected and reconnected the battery countless times without any effect. I also connected it to PC, disconnected battery, reconnected battery while holding VOL- and it didn't boot into fastboot, just the green circle. Just switching it off with the power button makes it switch on again immediately and holding VOL-still doesn't boot into fastboot mode. I actually once got it to boot into fastboot mode, I can't remember how, but it lasted about a minute then it died from low power even while connected to a US 3.0 port with extra power. y the way, one oddity is that when holding VOL+ is actually goes into recovery mode, but I reflashed stock recovery to try and to flash the UPDATE.APP automatic upgrade, but it didn't work and so it's pretty useless.
Thanks for all the suggestions, you guys are awesome! Really hoping you guys can help me out in the end though!

Has it charged since then? When you plug in your cable, does it charge, or does it turn on?
I tried charging with powerbank (at that time, I was out on a bus), it got superhot (the only hot thing I got in my life) and it was turning on automatically... I let it charge for 30 minutes, and then I hold the Power button to shut it down (but it didn't work, I guess).. then I connected it to my laptop just holding the volume- button, it did boot to fastboot..
I am out of suggestions, will post you again if anything else comes to my mind...
Hang in there buddy..

Nope, it's not charging. I've used multiple chargers and even different PC's USB connections, but all that comes up onscreen is the round green logo with the battery, and sometimes a red one instead of green.
And of course the constant blinking led, it never goes away. and also the screen doesn't go off like it does when it's charging. I swear the moment it turns solid red, if that ever happens, I shall rejoice.
Nevertheless, I have utmost respect for this site and faith in its member! :good::laugh: I just KNOW someone will help me resolve this. I can enter recovery (stock) but it doesn't charge there not does the silly stock recovery have a option to turn off. And even sometimes when it seems completely drained, it seems like it starts charging after about 2 minutes after I plugged it but it turns on the screen, shows the green circle, and red blinking led. I'm at my wit's end. :crying: It was a gift and I messed it up.
I didn't read everything in this thread, sorry, but just asking, did you try to charge it overnight? My brother had an old, really small Vodafone Huawei Phone and sometimes it just turned off and needed at least 12 hours charging time to turn on again. Maybe just try to let it plugged in for a day. It may help.

Yep, I did. Annoying thing is the screen stays on when it's plugged in, unlike charging. I kept it plugged in to a wall charger overnight, and the next morning the phone was hot (supposedly because the screen stayed on) and the led was blinking still. When I unplugged it it lost power. This is so strange because just a week ago there was nothing wrong with the battery even.
Had the same problem couple of times
Try this...
1. unplug battery
2. plug-in charger (without battery!)
3. when charger is plugged to the phone then plug battery connector
Enjoy

I've tried that, multiple times. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm desperate.
