I've always loved the idea of being able to pay (at a lot of places, now) using NFC technology. Unfortunately, root access, xposed, and now a custom rom (Props to the EpicROM team!) have always out prioritized the NFC payment feature.
I've read a great deal about Magisk, and so I know how it works, but afaik EpicROM is packaged with SuperSU and so there isn't a straightforward way to use one of the compatible superuser apps. So, my question is (and the custom rom issue might be a bit much to tackle, but it's worth asking), has ANYONE managed to get Android Pay working on their Mix?
Also, I searched around for a good bit, only to find the answer elude me: Are there acceptable substitutes for Android Pay that do the same thing (NFC payment, "tap and go"?) and are accepted by most point of sale setups?

To pass safety net you need to
1. Be unrooted
2. Have an official rom, which is stable (not developer)
3. Have a locked bootloader
So most probably, Magisk will not help you on this

Yeah the three things you listed there are things I think I'd rather have than the slight inconvenience of having to actually pull out my wallet to pay for things.
In an ideal world we'd all be able to pay with PayPal using NFC technology, but oh well.
There is a kernel patch which fakes a verifiedboot state; you can try that.

I'm usually pretty technologically literate, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Part of the first URL you linked includes the words "oneplus," suggesting to me that it might not be as simple as just running that command line script. I don't expect to be spoon-fed information, but links to any related threads would be much appreciated.
I relocked my bootloader after I installed the official Global rom. I can add my credit cards but I can't get it to pay for anything at a terminal. It just doesn't launch at all.
Instead of flashing patched kernel, I would recommend flashing resurrection rom instead.
Here you go! I take no responsibility if something bad happens. Flash at your own risk... Of course you need to be unlocked and rooted with TWRP recovery

Is this the same thing as the 'global' rom?
I think they are different but essentially the same. Both come with Google apps

You don't have to root to use Android pay with the EU Rom. If you look at the features in the post above yours you will see they include Google certified as part of the package.

I was going to try this out today, but I'm getting the good old "10008 followed by some Chinese text" error when trying to bind my device in Developer Options in order to be able to unlock the bootloader. As far as I know, there is no working fix for that right now...
EDIT: One proposed solution is to connect to a Chinese VPN server and trying to bind it, but it hasn't worked for me (I've tried with four different Chinese servers).
Yes there is. Download plexvpn in the play store and use the Shanghai server. You will get approved right away

Thanks! I think I ended up trying ten or so VPN apps, but I wish I had tried plexvpn earlier.
Although I apparently still need to wait 72 hours (or more like 62 hours) to be able to unlock.
Glad I could help! I still need to wait 24 hours until I can unlock

Why do you have to wait, to unlock the device?
I didnt receive my device yet and it will be my first xiaomi device, thats why im asking
It's hell to unlock this phone. After you jump through hoops to finally get the phone registered to be unlocked, xiaomi puts a mandatory 72 hour wait on the phone before it can actually be unlocked.

Can I just register and wait out the 72 hours (before I've received the phone) or do you need the phone to start this process?

+1 same question. ^^
My phone will arrive in round about 10 days, so is it possible to wait out the unlock time before I've received the phone?
You should try and start the process without the phone. Once you get the text you will need the phone to register it. To register it use a VPN app like plexvpn to register the phone in developer options. Use the Shanghai location. Once registered you will need to wait the 72 hours.
72h are over for me. I will unlock and flash EU rom after work.
Hi.
I already bought the chinese 12gb-512gb version of the phone in Wondamobile.
I have now many doubts about the Chinese rom or apps as i have never used a Chinese rom.
I email wondamobile and google pay works and google services are installed.
Return the phone will be around 100$. It didn't arrive yet.
Does it have many changes or things in Chinese even if you put English?
I don't have much time to install different roms, uninstall apps or play with the settings.
What do you recommend?
I had the same variant in use with CN ROM for some time before I switched to Xiaomi.EU-ROM.
The CN ROM is OK, everything is in English so day-to-day usage is unhindered. This included GPay and full google support. Some apps like Youtube Vanced would not install without disabling MIUI Extensions, but this is an easy thing to do and set it back afterwards.
Oh, and updates are pretty regular (much faster than with the EEA/Global variants)....
So overall I would say: don't fear going with CN ROM !
Now you may ask: and why did you then change to Xiaomi.EU-ROM ? Well, its a bit more polished and adapted to western languages, also it contains a number of tweaks that make it superior for me and my usage of the phone.....

I haven't changed any rom in a phone in a very long time. Is it dificult?
I read the updates have to be done manually in the EU ROM but the whole phone or just checking yourself every now and then?
I am using the Chinese Rom since the day I got the phone (April 12), and I am more than happy with it.
Didn't need to lock the bootloader, or flash anything.
One of the best thing I don't get the annoying ADS like the other Roms. Updates are quick and no overheating or such.
Yes on other ROMS it will be Manual
It is my Daily Drive and I love it
Use the Chinese Rom for a little bit and If you find that Global or EU ROM is a must for you, then you have lots of members here who will help you install it.
GOOD LUCK
Pop over to the Xiaomi EU forum for latest ROMs and instructions, https://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/xiaomi-mi-11-pro-ultra-lite.211/
But a fair few post in both forums, so as posted above, there is lots of help, just ask, don't sit wondering or worrying.

Thank you very much for the help.
I think in my case as I'm not expert in any case will be to keep the Chinese to avoid "brick" the phone or mess around with the updates from EU ROM.
I was just worry i will be in a mess with the Chinese ROM. But if it's easy-ok to use in English it's fine.
Any list of bloatware or trick i have to do in the Chinese ROM as a must do?

This. What they do basically is take chinese ROMs and remove all the useless bloatware, the ads in the system apps and keep the extra features ; there's a permanent AOD, native super wallpapers and more

But this is with root right? I use a lot of finance and trading on my phone, how secure and safe are those roms?
Now i have stock EEA firmware, they go by GDPR and EU rules. No ads and you will need to accept a prompt on every instance where they would collect data. I like this only problems EEA gets updates a bit slower.

Actually root is not required. Only requirement is unlocked bootloader. On android devices only trusted apps should be granted root then most of your financial/trading apps will be safe. Because other user apps won't be able to access financial app's data which haven't been granted root permission.
Hello everyone,
I want to know if there is a custom rom that is compatible with nfc to pay contactless with your phone.
But also, if this rom exists, is it compatible with android auto and voice control with google assistant.
or to keep all the options and possibilities of the phone, can I install a stock rom (my phone is locked to miu 12.5 version by my operator!) but for that I have to root and unlock the phone?
Sorry if the answer is in the foeum but I did not find in the various presentations of the roms or so I misread!
Thanks in advance for your
Isn't working NFC in ROMs pretty much the norm? Google Pay might be a bit stubborn to work in some due to SafetyNet/root complications, but should be possible to get it working most of the time.
Thank you for your answer.
I don't quite understand your first sentence, I'm not a good English speaker!!
Do you mean that now custom roms are all compatible with nfc and therefore the possibility of paying with it?
Whether with the application of his bank?
Because my bank is not compatible with Google pay!

Arrow os and pixel experience working for me, the only downside miui camera not there.
Best answer is try rom your self maybe work for me but not for you.
But if I unlock my phone, do I risk losing options like nfc permanently or can I go back?
I adhere to this request.
I tested AOSP Extended, Arrow OS, Evolution X, crDroid, in their android 11 and 12 respective versions, but in none of them I was able to make NFC work on this phone. Some of them have the NFC menu on the configuration menu and some not, but the result is always the same: I get "NFC failed" error or similar when an app needs to access the NFC device.
Before unlocking the device and installing custom ROMs, I did install the latest update of MIUI, based on android 12 (less than a month ago) to make sure I have the latest firmware installed, though I don't seem to find a way to check the current FW version without MIUI installed.
Also, I did check that NFC was working (on MIUI) before installing any custom ROM, so I know for certain it's not a hardware problem.
If I find a solution to this issue, I'll post here. Let me know if you find anything.
BR,
GH

Hmm, that is very unfortunate.
Since the Note 10 Pro has been out for a while, I guess that means there is nothing to be done about it?
Edit: However, statements by others seem to imply that NFC should be working, so maybe there is something your missing?

Nobe with this device, although some companies like Apple and Samsung do that.
Thank you for your answers.
My xiaomi is a global.
It seems to me to risk doing these manipulations to then lose the nfc and no longer be able to go back!

I have been testing various roms (crDroid, PixelOS, projectElixir, evolution-X, ...) before using now, since more than a month, lineageOS 20 as daily driver.
I never met the problem you are mentioning.
I would also suggest, as someone else has just done, that you make a clean installation.

I have investigated on the subject and apparently my model "M2101K6R" has problems with the roms, but the only one that works for me is Lineage OS, and the strangest thing is that this rom automatically changes my device to "M2101K6G" and that's why NFC works for me in that rom
