Hi,
What are the major changes in Gingerbread when compared with Froyo? What are the changes one can notice?
I've noticed that the App Drawer is now 4x4 based like the Galaxy S, except it is vertical based and you slide like an iPhone App Drawer, except vertically, the app drawer is also organized by the tabs below the drawer. (All Apps, Frequent, Downloaded)
A new mirror app.
Most widgets have a little visual change.
The OS is faster, more stable.
The notification bar now has two tabs, one for notifications, another one for Quick Settings, which allows you to toggle Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS etc.
The Battery Use screen is changed to a more detailed look (Added a graph).
Startup time is faster. (From Cold Boot)
In the Gallery, pinch zooming is now buttery smooth, not laggy anymore.
The weather animations now has sound effects added to them. You can turn the sound effects off.
Smoother weather animations.
That's all I've found.

The update notification states that "it will not clear any content on the phone".
Are all your contacts, call logs, sms messages etc still there after the OTA update?
Or do i have to backup my stuff to somewhere. . ? Hmm..

you don't have to back anything up. it updates everything without any deletion of apps/contacts
I would have really wished for there to be a sound profile option in the new quick setting feature but well, would just have to use the quick setting application.
In addition, the Camera app has a little change.
Now you can switch cameras without accessing in the hidden menu.
Video Recording now adds Stereo Recording, which uses the Dual Microphone technology to record sounds in Stereo, and it seems that the video recording in HD is now smoother, I think it is around 28 FPS to 30 FPS.
In Photo Taking mode, The menu has Auto Enhance added, which removes more noises, but keeping the photo in high quality.
Is there any change to the standard HTC keyboard? i.e. still have arrow keys on the right (in landscape mode), long-press on every key for alternate characters...

Mind taking some screenshots of the camera app and posting a video that demonstrates the Stereo Recording?
I wanna see how the Video Audio Quality is now as currently it sounds like a tin can when recording.
Thanks!
hi is it true that if you update the IS to gingerbread the wifi issue that desire s has also occurs in this phone? i've read somewhere that people updated to gingerbread and they got all this deathgrip kind of issue on wifi..

Hi, i played The impossible game (the game where you have to jump over obstacles with a cube) on my optimus 2x (using Slick 2xG rom with Vorkkernel with bitrate, silent and call tweak and 140 lcd density mod) and it lagged and today i managed to get it to work smooth.
It gets smooth for a couple of secounds if you just pause and resume it but thats not good enough.
If you want it to be smooth for a longer time you have to :
1. Open the game, start the level and jump over a couple of triangles
2. Press the home button to quit and get home
3. Tap the render fx widget button rapidly for about 15 or 20 times ( I use the N1 Calibrated Low red fx). Just tap the widget to turn the fx on and off.
4. Long press home button to view recently used apps and open the game.
It should now be smooth. If it remains laggy just repeat the process a couple of times.
If t still doesnt work pause and resume rapidly after doing the render fx widget tap.
Note: The game will begin to lag again if you turn up or down the volume or kill the app.
If you are listening to music it will get laggy as soon as the song changes so you will have to repeat the process.
On my phone it works for the impossible game and the impossible game level pack.
Let me know if this works for you!
It works better if you pause as soon as you crash and then do the fx tap.
I currently own a Galaxy note 8.When using Samsung music I believe I am experiencing some form of screen burn or issues with the actual application. There is grids and circular blocks shaded darker across the whole display that appears on the samsung music app whilst listening to music which appears occasionally. The app may work fine for a small time then it displays the blocks and grids. When scrolling through music landscape there is also random red or blue a dots that appear on the screen however it only happens when I scroll through the albums. At the bottom of the screen there is small blocks present when rotated landscape. Depending on the album art there is also a very slight colour change in small lines on the navbar. As I can screenshot what is on the screen I am assuming it is not an issue with the display but the application. These issues only happen with the Samsung music application.
Since I got my S21U 3 months ago I noticed the One UI Home Apps where you swipe right and left in either the drawer or on the pages. The transition is not smooth like it should. it is not lag, it is like random frame drop happening while moving left and right through the UI icons. I didn't notice fps drops in the settings or normal scroll in apps.
It is just that weird random fps drop during animation icons transition in the main page/drawer.
I have tried everything possible, from full reset to manually disabling services by package disabler to monitoring the CPU/GPU usage and FPS to forcing fixed 120Hz and I couldn't find a fix.
I am using the G9980 Snapdragon version 512GB/16GB
I noticed it as well. Comes And goes randomly.
Had an A72 with OneUI 3.1 with the same issue as well.
Hey there!
After updating to Android 12, whenever I try to swipe the quick panel when there are quite a few notifications, the panel always stutters, there is considerable amout of drop in the refresh rate.
When I use 60Hz instead of 120hz, the problem does not show.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
This stutter has destroyed the one ui experience.
wait for the next update, many have mentioned this on other sites.
Let's hope they fix the issue
I had this issue when I disabled animations, as I do on any phone by default
