Hi people,
Can someone give me and opinion of the battery drain with a note 9 on pie?
I bought my Note 9 four days ago and updated to 9.0 pie right out of the box, I think that battery is still optimizing for usage but I find it very bad with battery life and SoT. I'm posting a screenshot, if you have some tips ?
I'm with exynos, 50% brightness display, exynos version, Bluetooth off

You answered your own question! Battery is still optimizing for usage! You have to give it 10 or so days before it battery gets better! Also turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, Sync, turn the screen off turn everything off lol messing with you 2/3 weeks mine took to settle down!
I'm having the same problem. Android System was waaaaay lower before. It's always at the top of the list now. :/

There's plenty that can be done, especially if you have the exynos version of the phone.
-Unlock bootloader and install Dr Ketan's rom, it is fantastic.
-Then apply endurance kernel.
-Use Magisk manager to apply module: Universal GMS Doze
-Use Mtweaks to apply a few kernel tweaks
I haven't gone this far just yet as I'd like to see how the phone goes without it for a few weeks but you can also install greenify or if you want to really get serious, greenify xposed module. Personally I find the battery life of the note9 to be fantastic but you must keep in mind that the screen is enormous and hi-resolution. Whenever you are using the screen, especially at a high brightness level the battery is going to drain - it can't run on good intentions.
Try turning down the brightness. If you are absolutely serious about battery life over everything else, you can disable auto-sync, remove the official facebook apps if you have them and replace them with faceslim and lite messenger and modify the notification settings.
Doing all of the above and only turning the phone on when you need to make a phone call or use navigation etc should net you an easy 4 days+ of useage but then again, you may as well have bought a $30 powerbank phone.
Tripping Knox hardly sounds like a good idea if I'm honest.
If your Android System is high then something in the background is wrong. You could try clearing cache then give the phone a couple days to settle
Battery life varies significantly with any phone and any version of Android.
Often we assume, wrongly in my opinion that a very large factor in battery life is the version of Android , hence the numerous posts on this forum who wish to or have gone back to Oreo, for reasons I consider delusional.
What apps you have on your phone and how often you use them are significant, playing games that use lots of cpu and gpu is going to impact battery life.
Web browser and YouTube rather less so.
I have experienced lower and higher screen on time and standby time with the same apps and version of Oreo, and Pie (both on beta and released)
I am on Exynos Note 9
Bought and used since release date Aug 24 2018, haven't used so called battery life friendly charging (20% to 80% etc)
Can run battery down to 0% on occasion and charge to 100% using fast charge, often left on charge overnight.
Yes there are some optimisation that may help and I use a few, I couldn't tell how much they help though as just varying usage is a greater factor in my opinion
Battery performance from yesterday
18.5 hours total usage with 9.25 hours screen on time
Hi,
I recently bought a galaxy s10 and I'm wondering if the batterylife is rly so "Bad" or if there is something wrong with my Software.
I have a screenshot attatched. This was a Day with biking (Navigation in background) and only liddle screen on time.
Before I had a xiaomi Mi 9t pro and i was able to use the Phone for two days without charging. Even sot of 7 hours or more.
Why is my s10 not Even lasting "one day".?
Seems to me Q is the culprit
Are you on Android Q yet? My S10 used to reach 30-40+ hours of battery time on P (mostly web whatsapp and regular phone calls, no games at all, see pic).
After upgrading to Q, juice can't even give me 30 hours. As I see it, in my case Q is clearly the culprit.
SOT is not a valid metric for me, as I'm always on web whatsapp -- lots of use, screen always off.
I am Android 9 with the AT&T firmware G975U model. I can get around 25 or 26 hours out of it before I have to recharge it.
Yes I'm on Android Q.
I think it's due to aod and Google Service.
With the Installation of gms fix Module of magisk the betterylife got better. Also im using the adaptive battery Management setting and disabled aod. Now it's only on when I received a message, which is fine for me.
Now im getting through a Day, but still it's not that impressive compared to other phones (one plus and so on)
Hello, I had p30pro and was perfectly satisfied with it but from curiousity changed it for oneplus 7 pro and then galaxy note 10+, wasn't satisfied with those devices because of worse battery life than p30pro, I had 8-10h screen on time with p30pro and ~5h with one plus 7 pro and galaxy note 10+. (gsmarena endurance rating is not correct, p30pro according to them has 100h endurance rating and galaxy note10+ has 107h, so I expected battery life to be pretty much the same but its far from that )
because of magnificent battery life on p30pro i changed back to p30pro, but this is second unit I got and battery life is not like on the first one. first one was 1 year old 8/128, current one is 8/256 3 months old and I have like 5-6 hours screen on time with new one which does not satisfy me, battery life is primary reason i got back on p30pro.
usage is the same, same applications installed as far as i am aware
I have screenshot from first p30pro with 8hours screen on time and 25% battery left, it was so great that I had to save it  and battery life was contant like that
Other pictures attached is from current device, 3h31min screen on time with 38% battery left, so by the time it drops to 25% like screenshot from first p30pro it would be like 4h30min screen on time, big difference. battery life is constant like that
any tips, solutions, suggestions, thoughts?
-i did wipe the cache in recovery
-i tried dark mode
-no app seem to be draining the battery
solutions that i am thinking about:
-wait for 10.1 update for my device and see if there is any changes
-sell this one and get third p30pro (really dont want to do that, I will lose money and time and would be furious if i dont get good battery like on first device )
-factory reset (really dont want to do that, I will lose half a day again customizing and installing everything)
is integrated battery info correct, could there be something /an app that drains the battery but is not showing correctly in battery usage?
FAULTY UNIT?
There must be somethnig draining battery , either delete one by one apk and see if it improved, then you will know which apk was trouble, or hard reset and manually reinstall all apks, do not use backup as faulty apk will do same harm.
Second phone was new or second hand? If second hand you should do hard reset first.., tip for future..
one thing I noticed on screenshot from first device is that I was using only one sim card back then, I turned off second one now and will see if battery improves, altough in Screen On Time thread I see people have 8-10 screen on time regularly with two mobile signals.
"there must be something draining the battery..." can there be anything like that but not showing in battery usage correctly? because everyhing in battery usage seems fine.
both phones was second hand and I did reset them, but from menu, dont know if there is any difference in reseting from recovery?
1. EMUI 10.1 have same battery in some cases may be worse battery than EMU 10
2. Why sell phone if this one is good just need find what eat battery
3. Factory reset thats in many cases fix drain problem but if you wont do that why you not do backup first than make factory reset
Solution
1. Try put all apps in sleep mode settings ---> battery ---> startup apps (there enable sleep mode on all apps only leave apps from where you want get notifications)
2. Dark mode i recommend you use it any time its not save your battery too much but it can help to save battery
3. Use Huawei optimizer app to clean junks and optimize phone
4. Disable synchronizatios
5. Disable GPS, NFC, Bluetooth if you not use it (if you use any navigation than just use GPS when you not need it)
6. I see your Google Chrome use too much battery use instead Kiwi Browser
7. Same about Instagram use light version of instagram or try InstaMod app its better for me
8. Your screen display use 24+ % battery try lower light i have set on AUTO BRIGHTNESS (Tips in settings display set lower resolution)
9. Cell standby try disable mobile data when you not need and btw try put sim in another slot
10. Disable or Uninstall all apps from Google i have disabled Google Movies, Google Music, Google Drive and mayn other apps just disable all apps which you not use
11. I see you are on stock launcher you can try Nova Launcher or Evie Launcher or Microsoft Launcher....(Tips Evie Launcher is one of the lighweight launcher and build for performance/battery i now use Microsoft Launcher which is same as Evie but with little more functions
If you need any info just ask
so I disabled second sim card yesterday and this is result I have now, much better! 1h16min screen on time with 86% battery, which corresponds with about 8h screen on time :good:
can't believe another sim card has so much impact on battery life. my signal is full!
in next few days I will try only 3g or 2g enabled instead of 4g for second sim card to see if that makes a difference.
5 hours & 40% still left, always using data connection. Mainly browsing and watching videos.
VOG_L29D EMUI 10.1.0.126, firmware updated using hisuite proxy
But also any other firmware version was giving the. Same SOT

Yes brightness is always automatic (indoor and outdoor) , i rarely use wifi,
Usage, facebook, YouTube and emailing, and some light gaming.
Also I'm using two sim cards but disabled 4g on the first sim card wich i use in calls and left the data line 4g.

I think I found your cause of drain. Go to settings, apps, apps, on the top right click on show system apps, then check for hms core. Click that, then on the top right you will se a gear. Click on the gear and carefully untick everything that has to do with data sharing, analytics etc. Check your battery again and let me know mate ??
Let's face it. Everyone knows how hot garbage this update is. I've come across multiple issues here and there, and as realme claims "performance improvements" in the changelog, it has only brought, ironically, inferior performance. I made this post to highlight some of my complaints in regard to the update and hopefully realme should take account of:
- Worse battery life - I've maxed out at around 4 hours of SoT as opposed to 6 hours in the previous build
- Performance issues - As mentioned above, I've been facing worse performance and occasionally terrible RAM management (although I'm pretty sure it has already been bad in the first place lol)
- Heating issues - The phone gets a lot warmer now than usual, therefore contributing to the lag and thermal throttling. Even on casual use, the phone gets abnormally warm for some reason
- Connectivity issues - Sometimes I have to reset my WiFi since the connection keeps dropping off.
There are also a few minor issues irrelevant to the update, like some of my mp3's not being read in the music folder (although when I plug my device to my PC, it reads them fine). There was also a time in which YouTube video playback glitched the entire screen (no idea what caused this). These probably don't have anything to do with the update, but I hope realme fixes these soon.
Take into consideration that I have the exact same apps and setup since the last update. This isn't some app that started draining my battery. Also, my refresh rate has been set to Auto the entire time. Might try to use the phone in 60Hz to see any significant differences, idk. I've heard that setting it to 90Hz helps? Idk, all I know is that these issues are really something and that many people are experiencing the same. I just hope that realme pushes an update that addresses such problems (prob July update?)
B.41 UPDATE:
It has been a few days since B.41 and I can most certainly say that it fixed the battery and heat issues. My phone has been able to comfortably last more than 6 hours a charge (90%-20%) on regular use and boy have I missed that so much.
I don't really know what to do with this thread anymore since the problems I mentioned are no longer relevant as B.41 fixes almost all of them. Might just add some issues and inconveniences that still persist in the software.
The biggest problem is the battery life. It's ok when forcing 90Hz.
I Don't know when you updated ur phn. But as a Realme 6 User I have faced the same problm.. And I posted 5 or more times in realme community about those same issue on my ohone.. But they Didn't make any ficing update. So I remove some built in unusable app like App store, heytap, market etc. But problem not fixed. After 10 days I noticed the phone is performing normally and smoothly as it was before the update. Now all problem are gone. My suggestion is, bcz of realme bad management system their update needs long time to properly performing.. So just wait and you will see few days after, ur phn is back to pavilion.

And at this point of time there is no custom ROM for this device either which is sad
Battery life issue is faced by me as well. Max 4hours of battery life even on very normal usage.

I think there might be one available. I came across this video https://youtu.be/SFgV9wRKRTw. You can watch it for trying out a custom rom made for realme 6/6 pro.
Actually there are gsi ROMs available for this device and I have flashed havoc os on my realme 6,but the thing is that it's not stable at all and you may get bricked,at this point of time you can't even use realme flash tool to flash the stock firmware and it also doesn't support EDL mode.Even if custom ROMs do come mtk devices easily gets bricked,I wish if there was an anti brick preloader for realme 6 then we can flash anything without fear. Redmi note 8 pro users are lucky for having anti brick preloader and custom ROMs support

I just got the newest update, B.41. I'm still yet to test it out. So far my device doesn't heat as much anymore.

I read this thread for the very first time and I dare say you are the cause of all these issues you have with your device.
All the way up until 11.B.38 I had 8+ hours of screen time in a single day, around 7 over the span of 2 days on a single charge. All on FORCED 90 Hz.
Performance is excellent, this is the first phone I ever had that hasn't had a single hiccup in performance.
When casually using it it's stone cold, get slightly warm on heavier games (Gwent works great and doesn't make the phone too warm).
Connectivity worked great, only recently it appears I've lost CA for some reason.
If your device gets warm when casually using it, drains your battery in an unreasonably short time, most likely you have stuff running in the background draining CPU power - or your phone has a faulty battery. The test is easy - charge the phone up, reset it to factory settings, let it boot up and don't touch it, don't even go through the wizard. 30 minutes later go through the setup wizard, if the phone gets warm during setup, the battery might be faulty.
The annoying stuff in software Realme doesn't want to fix are the random issues with the screen-off gestures and the transition to homescreen with 3rd party launchers.
But hey, at least the split screen is now working fine with Nova Launcher!

As I've mentioned in my post, I had almost the exact same set-up as before. The same apps, same launcher, same everything. It was only when I updated to B.37 that things went sorta downhill. I also heard other users experiencing similar things.
Also, I see that you mentioned B.38 and not B.37. You may have a different model than mine, though I'm not so sure about it.
I updated my phone to the latest B.41 update earlier today, and things look very promising now. So far I've gotten to about 7 hours of SoT and barely any overheating issues.

Hi guys, from a couple of weeks now I have a problem with the battery life on my Mi 9t Pro, it's just not like it was before, I'm guessing because of the MIUI 12, or maybe the Android version.I have the phone like almost a year, and today for example, from a full charge from 100 to 55% I have like 2 hours of SOT.I saw on forums that other users have the same problem, does anyone now how to fix this? Tried with battery saver, MIUI Optimization off, Vault app off, etc. Thanks in advance
