Batterylife one Day quicky - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I recently bought a galaxy s10 and I'm wondering if the batterylife is rly so "Bad" or if there is something wrong with my Software.
I have a screenshot attatched. This was a Day with biking (Navigation in background) and only liddle screen on time.
Before I had a xiaomi Mi 9t pro and i was able to use the Phone for two days without charging. Even sot of 7 hours or more.
Why is my s10 not Even lasting "one day".?

Seems to me Q is the culprit
Are you on Android Q yet? My S10 used to reach 30-40+ hours of battery time on P (mostly web whatsapp and regular phone calls, no games at all, see pic).
After upgrading to Q, juice can't even give me 30 hours. As I see it, in my case Q is clearly the culprit.
SOT is not a valid metric for me, as I'm always on web whatsapp -- lots of use, screen always off.

I am Android 9 with the AT&T firmware G975U model. I can get around 25 or 26 hours out of it before I have to recharge it.

Yes I'm on Android Q.
I think it's due to aod and Google Service.
With the Installation of gms fix Module of magisk the betterylife got better. Also im using the adaptive battery Management setting and disabled aod. Now it's only on when I received a message, which is fine for me.
Now im getting through a Day, but still it's not that impressive compared to other phones (one plus and so on)

Battery Life Issues

Hi guys,
The main reason I moved from OnePlus 3T to this Moto X4 is for the great battery life. But ever since i bought the phone i am not running on good mileage. It is rather decent but battery percentage decreases quite a lot. Unable to find the right culprit for this.
Currently I have rooted and running Magisk and running on Oreo (Retin, XT1900-2 India).
It goes from 90 to about 15 percent in a day with decent Whatsapp, Facebook (app changed to Fella), and Messenger, and from time to time I use Google drive, watch little video clips (low quality from Whatsapp).
Screen time is about 3-4 hours, in the span of 24 hours. My home is situated in a half sort of signal zone (constant 4G network, no 3G or 2G, Jio network) and 90 percent of the time I use Wifi (ac/n).
In contrast I have a Xiaomi Redmi 5A (office use, costs 77 usd currently) runs for 3-4 days on a single charge!
In Magisk I tried the Google GMS core (i think thats the name) doze and it freezes my Whatsapp notifications and others, I need these notifications, so I disabled and am running normally.
Is there a particular thing that I can use or test or try out to find out what is going on in my phone? OR would you consider that this is usual for this phone?

Nope, it's not normal. With wifi usage I get 7.5 hrs SOT on average. When I am out of station, I use Jio sim for accessing internet. I also use gps and maps in such case and still manage to get 6 hrs of SOT.
Thanks for that confirmation. Looks like something would be wrong then with the hardware.
There's something really wrong with your x4.
I have more or less the same daily usage and in the end of the day I still have more than 50% of battery.
i'm not usung my phone heavy, but always on bluetooth, wifi, momile data and gps, checking facebook instagram and those others social media few times throu the day, sometimes pokemon go. and i have 4-5h on screen time. max 20h in total (android 7.1.1 reteu)
Moto display is culprit
This phone has bad battery life. My moto g5 plus last longer.
yes i can confirm this behaviour. i guess this is largely after the oreo update and even before the update i didn't like the battery life as much which was may be the case because i was coming from yu yunicorn with 4000 mAh battery. so i don't know may be it's the oreo update issue or may be it's only a few models like ours that are affected. either way i'm really concerned as i'm really in love with this phone and don't wanna get a new one any time soon... ?
IDK how much it helps but go into developer settings and disable mobile data always active. It was on by default after I updated to oreo
Wow. I just picked up this phone, X4, to take advantage of a Sprint special.... The 2 days I have had it, the battery has been horrible. I turned off Moto display so I'll see if that helps. Otherwise, I don't have Facebook or any other social media app. I have 1 hour 39 minutes of SOT today and I'm at 15% battery. I'm seeing reports the Oreo update is when this started. Hoping this can get fixed with Pie and soon!
Any tips or tricks would be great! Thanks.
Here is an overnight view on WiFi. So 14 minutes of SOT with Google play services using 35% battery. Any suggestions? This is really hard to believe. I'm likely going to try and return phone I guess.
Did you reset your phone or restore backup?
Hello. Yes, I did a factory reset at the end of day 1. I just turned off background activity for Google play services so hopefully that will help.

Battery Drain on 9.0 Pie

Hi people,
Can someone give me and opinion of the battery drain with a note 9 on pie?
I bought my Note 9 four days ago and updated to 9.0 pie right out of the box, I think that battery is still optimizing for usage but I find it very bad with battery life and SoT. I'm posting a screenshot, if you have some tips ?
I'm with exynos, 50% brightness display, exynos version, Bluetooth off

You answered your own question! Battery is still optimizing for usage! You have to give it 10 or so days before it battery gets better! Also turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, Sync, turn the screen off turn everything off lol messing with you 2/3 weeks mine took to settle down!
I'm having the same problem. Android System was waaaaay lower before. It's always at the top of the list now. :/

There's plenty that can be done, especially if you have the exynos version of the phone.
-Unlock bootloader and install Dr Ketan's rom, it is fantastic.
-Then apply endurance kernel.
-Use Magisk manager to apply module: Universal GMS Doze
-Use Mtweaks to apply a few kernel tweaks
I haven't gone this far just yet as I'd like to see how the phone goes without it for a few weeks but you can also install greenify or if you want to really get serious, greenify xposed module. Personally I find the battery life of the note9 to be fantastic but you must keep in mind that the screen is enormous and hi-resolution. Whenever you are using the screen, especially at a high brightness level the battery is going to drain - it can't run on good intentions.
Try turning down the brightness. If you are absolutely serious about battery life over everything else, you can disable auto-sync, remove the official facebook apps if you have them and replace them with faceslim and lite messenger and modify the notification settings.
Doing all of the above and only turning the phone on when you need to make a phone call or use navigation etc should net you an easy 4 days+ of useage but then again, you may as well have bought a $30 powerbank phone.
Tripping Knox hardly sounds like a good idea if I'm honest.
If your Android System is high then something in the background is wrong. You could try clearing cache then give the phone a couple days to settle
Battery life varies significantly with any phone and any version of Android.
Often we assume, wrongly in my opinion that a very large factor in battery life is the version of Android , hence the numerous posts on this forum who wish to or have gone back to Oreo, for reasons I consider delusional.
What apps you have on your phone and how often you use them are significant, playing games that use lots of cpu and gpu is going to impact battery life.
Web browser and YouTube rather less so.
I have experienced lower and higher screen on time and standby time with the same apps and version of Oreo, and Pie (both on beta and released)
I am on Exynos Note 9
Bought and used since release date Aug 24 2018, haven't used so called battery life friendly charging (20% to 80% etc)
Can run battery down to 0% on occasion and charge to 100% using fast charge, often left on charge overnight.
Yes there are some optimisation that may help and I use a few, I couldn't tell how much they help though as just varying usage is a greater factor in my opinion
Battery performance from yesterday
18.5 hours total usage with 9.25 hours screen on time

P20 Pro SOT question

Hi guys, since emui 9 and 9.1 my SOT it's about 4 hours or 4.5 hours max, sometimes even 3 hours if i played a lot, I usually play games for a couple of hours, spotify youtube and instagram and the max i can get is 4 hours (From 100% to like 20-25%)
When i don't play and i use only instagram youtube and watch streamings i get more SOT but like 5 hours max
I've looked into the battery details and nothing seems strange (With gsam i found that i have some wake lock that drains battery like 1-2% at night) and during the night i lose like 5-6% battery with wifi on and bluetooth and gps off
Is that normal? Do you get the same SOT?
Also my screen lights up for no reason at all very often, i disabled the feature that can unlock the screen from lifting
I got emui 9.1.0.328

what's yours
@Danyy29
This such a subjective subjective.
Give or take you should be seeing around 1.5-2 days total up time and around 5-8 on average SOT.
But and I'll quote this as it's a massively expansive word for this subject.
"It Depends!!!"
Signal strength.
Routine
Battery efficiency
Age of device
Apps installed
Amount of apps installed
App usage
Device set up
Switch choices (WiFi/BT etc)
Firmware
Model
Variant
These are the tip of the ice berg.
You cannot measure two devices as they're just so different, even though they appear the same.
When I was sick one time. I stayed in bed playing Zelda the wind waker on the dolphin emulator.
During that weekend, I managed to get 14 hours 45 mins on a OnePlus 5.
Same situation 1 year later on my p20 pro, 17 hours 47 mins.
I have all this in a thread with proof.
Great signal
Only used internet
Few messages
Few calls
Great WiFi
Didn't leave house
No mobile gaming
That being said... 9.1 is not as efficient as 8.1 by a country mile, it's an apple style nudge to get you to buy a new phone even though you don't need one.
Hope this helps.
If I had to give you a top tip, it would be too lighten the load, no Facebook. No Snapchat, Instagram, any apps with ads, get rid. Any apps that run all the time! Get rid.
No excess apps, get rid. Get drastic.
Then test
Internal short or the battery is defective. Take it to a huawei care center.
With Accubattery the life it's like 90%
I bought this device in november 2018
I don't think it has problems that much
It doesn't get overheated
I get a maximum of 40°C when high end gaming
So idk
but ty for advices

10 months trying fixing battery drain (k20 pro/mi9t pro)

So, It has been 10 months of headaches. Bought in july 2019, for two months best phone ever, battery lasted 2 days, near to 1-2% of battery drain at night on standby. After installing miui 11, the battery said "bye bye". 3h screentime, need to charge the phone twice a day, losing 10%/h on standby.
What I tried is:
-havoc os
-xiaomi.eu Miui 11-12. beta and stable
-Evolution x
-latest firmware always/reinstalled latest firmware-vendor
-always clean install wiping everything
-new battery 2 months ago (same results, no difference at all)
-no app is draining battery in the settings
-unistalled analytics and miui daemon (msa not found on xiaomi.eu roms)
the phone goes in deep sleep as you can see in the photos in the link below.
Gps, wifi and bt always on. Tried switching them off, just 1% less of battery drain on standby.
Bought a broken mi 9t pro just to try switching motherboards, just to try that it isn't a electric or physical issue with the phone, but can't do it that right now, waiting the new screen to test the broken phone.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/zaAoKBJ4txMa7vRg9
Any suggestion?
Have you tested putting the phone on standby in airplane mode? This is unlikely to be the root of the issue but poor cellular signal may negatively impact the battery life.

tried that also, nothing change. Always 4%+/h of drain in standby.
I've pretty same problem, and it's really strange...
I've a Mi 9T Pro, bought not more than 2 months ago brand new, all stock.
I leave on just the phone active during the night, in both SIM cards: no bt, no wifi, no mobile data active.
The battery drain is around 10%, which is really insane considered that before my 3 years old phone, an Honor 8, in same conditions, was draining not more than 4%.
In general battery is draining really too much.
Passed OTA from MIUI 11 to 12, but the drainage is same.
I'd like to understand what is the issue causing that.
Dude. Same issue for me. It's only 6 months old. I noticed battery loss on miui just a month into purchase. I'd suggest pick a rom without Gapps or one with microG and try them out. I was using evo X and getting around 6-7 hrs SOT. Once I moved to Aim and Omni I started getting 9-10 SOT. I think Gapps is mostly the culprit. Miui sucks these days. I tried miui 12 and was utterly disappointed. Try this and you might just start loving your phone again. I'd say go for Omni and setup microG, install greenify, turn off battery optimisations only for essential messaging apps and turn on aggressive doze. Your sure to see a difference
Try havoc os 3.7 , try it without social apps like instagram, facebook and other crap.
Mine usually lasts around 3 days with 6h sot.
I also have gps , bt , sync and data always on
Tried gms doze? Disabling autostart of apps in miui?
Mi 9T Pro ll Tapatalk
The point, guys, is not to try different ROMs or install apps or not to use social medias because the phone drains battery...
The point is that the phone should not drain battery that much at all!
I think Xiaomi should care more of the firmwares released, trying harder to fix bugs that might be important rather than releasing new features.
My own opinion.
PS. Last night i checked the battery drain thoroughly: from 1.30 am to 7.30 am, just both SIM cards on to receive eventually phone calls, no WiFi, no BT, no internet connection, ND mode active = battery drained 9%
It is not acceptable!!
Clear all apps from memory, clear cache of 'Google Frameworks' and 'Google Play Services' don't restart the phone
I do this whenever I remember usually every few days and get great SOT around 9-11 hours. Although Accubattery says my battery health is 3300 of the 4000 as I've had it for a while and I'm a very very heavy user. Brand new was getting closer to 10-12 hours doing this same method.
I found it by someone posting a random comment somewhere in this forum just don't know who or where I saw it. They gave no explanation as to why it works but just what they did and its worked immediately. Note I'm still on MIUI 11.0.3 Global as I'm nervous this method won't be as effective in more newer MIUI Versions.
If you have a newer version please try and let me know if it still works, hope this helps
Also I reinstall MIUI through the phone after clean flashing it via Mi Flash
That is that I flash clean (erase storage but not lock bootloader) from Mi Flash and then go to the update settings of the phone and then press the 3 dots at the top left and "download latest update" and then install it again
This helped when I was on MIUI 10.X.X but do it out of habit so not sure if it helped for MIUI 11.0.03
edit: Reinstall method
Similar issue with my K20 Pro.
1. The battery backup on Android 9/MIUI 10 was giving me close to 1.5 days of backup of 7-8 hours of screen time.
2. It was decreased to 6-6.5 in Android 10/MIUI 11
3. Now with MIUI 12 it is reduced to 6 hours and with need of charging two times in a single day. All this with no social media apps, only Whatsapp, Youtube, Prime Video, Spotify and MS outlook, teams apps with regular usage. WIFI all the time, no GPS, 2-3 hours of Bluetooth. plus tried deboating MI apps.
So far I have tried PE, EVOX and EU roms but all gave me disappointing battery backup. The battery seems fine only on android pie so my assumption is that battery probably doesn't need replacement and more of xiaomi's firmware related issue on android 10.
It's so disappointing to see such a great piece of hardware holding back because of battery. I hope somebody find a good solution to this issue.

Question Excessive Idle drain / general battery drain

How much percent is your Vivo x90 pro+ loosing per hour? I am at 2% - this is pretty ridciulous I feel.
Installed messengers:
Wechat
Line
Signal
Facebook messenger Lite (nut not Facebook itself)
Whatsapp
Telegram
Social apps:
Instagram
email:
gmail
SMS:
google messenger
Phone:
google phone (because the inbuilt phone has inferior spam call protection)
Various:
Banking apps on high power use - none.
Garmin Connect - Bluetooth is on to sync with my garmin smartwatch and after activites my garmin edge 1040.
Sim card: - right now 1 active on 4G. But this does not seem to make any difference in power use. 4G or wifi seems to be identical in power use for me. Also having a second Sim card active or not does not seem to change anything.
Even overnight in airplane mode it's losing like 6-7% in 8 hours. During the day I lose 2% per hour. Vivo.pem is uninstalled - because with it I get no notifications after several hours of non use from several apps. On my old P30 Pro the same set of apps but actually some more banking apps on autostart/high power use I had only 1% per hour.
I feel like removing vivo.pem turns this phone into crazy battery drain - but with vivo.pem it's a brick.
Battery drain otherwise is
10% for surfing on Chrome 1 hour with Screen on at WQHD 120hz variable if indoors, 15-20% in bright light outdoors.
25%/hour for camera use
20% per hour for google maps with screen on in bright light.
So that gets me 6 hours of SOT with my phone at 5-10% at midnight. Not really good at all I feel. While the battery drain from surfing with Chrome is okay (not great, not bat - seems other phones aren't much better) the idle drain is clearly way too much. At 2% per hour that means 32% of idle drain from morning to night. My old Huawei P30 Pro managed with around 15% (and getting all notifications on time, no worries - and less other apps killed all the time and nearly 3 year old 4200 battery instead of new 4700 battery.. With proper power management this should be 12% here. Which would in turn give me 8 instead of 6 hours of SOT per day and be a good value.
AOD is off (because it's useless anyhow on the X90 as it cannot display many apps).

Would be interesting to see if anyhow actually has good battery life? In most reviews - if they are done somehow well and the phone actually been used - the battery life is pretty catastrophic - The best review of the X90 Pro+ so far that I have seen is this one - but mind its only in Chinese:
我想告诉你有关vivo X90Pro+的一切_哔哩哔哩_bilibili

www.bilibili.com
Well and the reviewer used the phone as daily driver for at least 3 weeks, and he barely made it 12 hours! Not 12 hours of SOT, but 8:40 in the morning to 8:40 in the evening left over with 10%...
Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra with same usage would have been a little over 30% still - and that with the older Snapdragon 8Gen1+ which isn't as efficient and I guess the reviewer didn't remove vivo.pem..
Clearly the abismal software of Vivo here plays a big part - in summer my numbers will be minimum 25% shorter for SOT.
If vivo cannot fix the horrenduos idle battery drain - then I doubt the X90 Pro+ will ever have decent battery life. I really wonder where the problem is - because the hardware is supposed to be super efficient both SOC and display compared to older generation phones.
Just installed accu battery app, will keep an eye out the next few days.. But 2% an hour on average is not that much right ? This means your phone should last 100% - 7% during the night is 93% / 2% = 46 hours => your phone should last almost 2 full days...
2% is crazy bad. That means if I don't even touch my phone it's empty after 2 days. That's horrenduos. My P30 Pro actually does 6-7 days or so just lying around while still not missing a single email or notification. Yeah on the move it would be a bit worse - say 4-5 days. But I had 0.7% per hour average...
Oh and in airplane mode the X90 Pro+ still stucks quite a lot of power - while my P30 Pro would lose like 1-2% per day - so effectively I can let it lie around for 1-2 months then need to charge again without switching off.
Origin OS clearly has some severe optimization problems here (not sure about with vivo.pem installed and airplane mode - but that*s simply impossible because vivo.pem turns my phone into completely unusable..
And I'm not even using 5G which supposedly sucks your battery much faster than 4G (for now at least as 4G has been optimized for years now on hardware/firmware level).

OK... so the 2% is idle drain... I thought it was an average of using the phone during the day...
But you said 6-7% drain during the night... which is 8hours(?). So that is not even 1% pre hour... Why is idle drain half at night of what it is during the day ?
6-7% during the night in airplane mode. 2% during the day in idle.. Overall it's 1.5% whenever accu battery was running - which means airplane mode for 8-10h during the night and daytime in idle.
As you can see my average (albeit surfing a lot gives me a combined use of 19h50min for full charge down to 0... Yes that's a bit more than morning to evening - but far far away from making it into a second day. If I unplug it in the morning and would not recharge in the evening it would likely not make it to bedtime.. ..
Oh yeah - the quickest way to empty the battery for me is using google translate with camera. That sucks the battery at 27% when I for example want subtitles in a youtube video translated (subtitles which are inside the video - not a subtitle file - so there is no automatic way of translating - not sure if Pixel 6-7 live translate could do this on the fly...)
OK clear... I'll keep the battery app running the next few days and will post my battery usage...
I'm copy / pasting my response from the other thread.
My phone lost 4% in 9h, from 11:25 PM to 8:40 AM when I woke up. I had turned on: mobile data, wireless, bluetooth, location, alarm set for 8:40 AM, set for autostart have 6 apps and for microG autostart is not enough so I turned on startup. When I checked the consumtion, the only thing that standout was the Microsoft Launcher.
I have unistalled vivo.pem.

Better to answer here:
I'll defnitely not do another factory reset - setting up this phone takes minimum 16 hours of time before I have all apps working again - without google backup that's a major pain. And no if I compare my times with many Chinese users it's still great. Many cannot get through 12 hours with the 90Pro+.
Are you using 4G, 5G, single sim, two sim cards? Which social media apps, which messengers...
Actually if I use the phone in battery saving mode the idle drain seems to be good, but while notifications seem to arrive on the phone (however without making a noise) - most don't arrive on my Fenix smartwatch anymore. But yes constantly running in battery saving mode got me good idle drain but again a not usable phone. so I have to go to ballanced mode in the normal settings,
Oh yeah - I had to enable on the battery usage the hidden "Unrestricted" mode - because with Optimized I would miss some notifications every few days for Signal and Line messenger. Either access this with code - or install "MIUI hidden settings app" - then under "All" click on "Advanced Power Usage Detail". Because this is not selectable by default (you can only select optimized or restricted, not unrestricted).
Oh and as you didn't mention it - I hope you ddin't start with 100% - because that is a random number - you need to start with 97% or lower for any serious testing as 100% is not full battery but less... The actualy max charge will differ but be 104-108%. So at the beginning seeing any drop is slow. Also I don't trust 99% and 98% after checking the voltage on Accubattery. So start any test with 97% or less - except a test that is full to empty.
Last night I lost about 13-14% charge. I did not use airplane mode. @extremecarver So that about matches your 2% an hour idle drain during the day. Not a big deal for me as I work from home most of the time, I have wireless charing in my car and can always charge my phone via usb on the laptop... But still it is a lot. I never noticed this because I can always charge the phone.
Using single sim on Edge (with 4g all incoming calls show 'unknown caller', forcing Edge data connection disables VOLTE and then I see incoming numbers/names. I do not have a toggle in setting to disable VOLTE). Wifi and location are enabled all the time. The apps that do not use the smart battery usage are Whatsapp, Tesla app, Ring app, Google clock, GMail...

Oh yeah - and maybe you activated sleep mode in battery settings? After missing notifications several times I had to deactivate that one too. But that would explain too for much lower battery usage at night. I want a fully working system with no single notification missed either on my phone or on my watch - something every other brand can do without problems. Actually I don't care if the notifications come only every 5 minutes - but if they don't come at all or 3-4 hours later - like often happens on Vivo - that is simply very bad. And it seems like I'm belong the majority of users with poor battery life - only the minority has good numbers (but likely very few apps sending notifications).
How many notifications do you get per day? I'm about 100 I guess. And yeah don't wanna miss them and any other phone I had didn't have those problems...

The apps that do not use the smart battery usage are Whatsapp, Tesla app, Ring app, Google clock, GMail...

yeah I guess everyone getting notifications suffers from this drain. If you use dual 5G data it's worst. The 5g module seems to be pretty bad- as so many people in China now recoomed to use 5G only if you really need it on the X90 series... Seems like 2-3 years ago when all phones had battery trouble with 5G - but 2022 phones mostly got that right (like Galaxy S22, Pixel 7 where people didn't complain about less battery life with 5G vs 4G anymore).

Nope... sleep mode is disabled... I guess I get between 50 - 100 notifications a day ? And agreed, I don't want to miss my Whatsapp/Email/Ring doorbel notifications.

Don't care about 5G (at the moment) 4G is fast enough for on the road. But at home I have a fast 1gb internet connection with multiple ubiquiti AP's, so I'm almost always using wifi.
Sleep mode is disabled, I didn't charged the phone, it was at 56% when I went to sleep. I'm on 4G network. My not restricted apps are WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook / Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Revolut, another bank app, Vanced MicroG, Teams, Outlook.

If you do, just a simple google search "Pixel 7 5G battery drain" there are a lot of complains and even Google saying it is investigating the problem.

yeah - but we all know to stay away from phones with Samsung SOC... I don't think it has drain that badly on 5G however (Pixel 6 had). The benchmark in general should only be 8+Gen1, Gen2, and Mediatek 8x00/9x00 phones (because Mediatek 1080 phones seem to be too good when it comes to battery life - but they have usually much lower resolution screens, often only 60/90hz - but yeah for standby drain there should not be a reason why a Mediatek 1080 phone is better than 8Gen2 - the small cores that should be the only active ones during standby / idle should not be consuming any better on a 1080).
Vivo X80Pro has horrible battery life on reviews - be it DXOMark or GSMArena which are actually testing a bit outside the lab too. DXOMark even has a pretty standardized test on the go/outdoors.. Idle drain there likely was a thing too.
Well as for battery saver mode - forget it. I think after 30 minutes of no use the phone doesn't give out any notification at all anymore. I think Battery Saver is pretty identical to vivo.pem. So not usable. As long as you frequently wake up the phone - everything works. As soon as for 30 or is it 60? minutes you don't use the phone - it goes into super deep sleep with only SMS and calls giving you a notification.
Idle drain was really good with battery saver on however. But it also killed Accubattery so no stats available...
I had installed Gsam Battery monitor too - and that one somehow survived. Basically with battery saver idle drain is perfect.
It clearly shows we would need some sort of battery saving mechanism that works normally, becasue battery saver and vivo.pem do not work (also not for Chinese user if someone brings this argument again - clearly Chinese users not only using the preinstalled apps - face the same problems.
It's too bad that without root there is no way to debug what is actually causing the drain besides 5G active.
So far (20 hours in) it seems Vivo fixed at least some of the battery drain in 4G in yesterday's trial version.
My battery life seems to have improved a lot, however notifications now arrive maybe 1-2 minutes late for many apps except those you just used before.
That would be an intelligent change. just push notifications once per minute.
In general I noticed the battery life is pretty good on wi-fi (except if wifi reception is very weak), but has been much worse on 4G data or even worse on 5G data. That may account for the big differences.
And well I managed to drain the battery today with 3:20 hours screen on time to shutdown.
Forgot to turn of google photos sync and my battery dropped like no tomorrow.. yeah surely the next 4G tower was 15km away. 800mhz. But I could literally watch the percentage dropping. The battery drain started literally as I took 150 photos or so shooting nice pics for sunset and the phone in the background trying to sync them. It literally lost battery like while running a benchmark like Geekbench nonstop
It's 4G/5G data that drains this battery like crazy. On wifi all is fine. As soon as you have average to below average reception the battery drain is crazy like I've never seen on another phone before. And surely it's not only me.
I tested against iphone 13 pro and screen off 4G data on same network at the same time with pretty identical speeds was 1% vs 5% for again a 20 minutes test. So fix that and battery life will be outstanding (yes on wifi it's better than iphone!). If that cannot be fixed this phone will be doomed for outdoor use if you need some GB per day...
Notice the crazy drain from 15% down to 3% with screen off. That was the phone trying to stay connected to cell data/towers on a bad mountain road. I didn't have anything running besides accubattery and closed all non locked apps to save some Juice. To no avail, if you have bad reception and don't switch off data that thing drains battery like no tomorrow. On the other hand it Vivo can fix the 4G and 5G drain and it's not a hardware but just firmware issue, battery life will be great. If it's hardware issue then it looks really bad for on the go.
So far overnight on wifi, bluetooth on, 4g on lost around 2% in 12h. Im on73% battery and 3h screen on time , 21h from last charge
