OK Google not working correctly - OPPO Find X5 Pro Questions & Answers

When I say OK Google, the Assistant opens, but the the mic does not seem to recognize any additional command.
But when I open the Assistant from the power button, it works flawlessly.
Yes I set up the phone from scratch and yes I tried the several suggestions in www to uninstall Google app updates or delete cache and data from it.
Anyone else?

Hi yes I am having the same issue . I say ok google it activates but like the mic not activated and it doesn't hear anything . if I activate it any other ways works fine . Its so freaking annoying it doing my brain in

I have a very similar problem with my X5 Pro. Sometimes the Google assistant UI has a glowing coloured bar,will work fine but without any audio responses but most of the time the UI has the four dots that will wake on "Hey Google" but then stop listening.

Same problem here only work if i click on the dots to talk. Anyone found a solution for this?

I'm also having the exact same issues with my phone. For such an expensive phone, it's really quite embarrassing.

It's working for me when enabling voice match in settings. It works when screen is off, on lock screen and elsewhere like expected!
Try enabling it in
settings > Google > settings for Google apps > search, assistant and voice > google assistant > hey Google and voice match
I found when voice match is off, it doesn't work anymore to say ok Google anywhere.
You can also configure power button to toggle assistant.
Let me know if you need any help!

I have it enable, i tried to turn of and on and retrain voice (BTW if i have portugues at primary on my list "retrain" option doesn't even appeard for some reason, had the same problem on my OP7Pro, i need to config like English UK to the option appear again) and still doesn't work, i say ok google and i still need to press the 4 dots. is a strange thing...

The google assistant settings as far as I can see are actually all set correctly. The Assistant will respond to the Hey Google command, but will fail to actually listen after the "bloop" sound. Interestingly, you can say "Hey Google" and immediately continue what you are saying and you can actually get the assistant to listen to the first few words before it cuts out.
The issue is therefore relating to the microphone cutting out after the hot word is said.

Of course the settings are as they have to be to make it work. There are also users in german forums that report the same problem.
Opened a case at Oppo, currently it's under investigation in the dev department.
I encourage everyone with the same problem to contact your local Oppo e-mail-Support an explain the problem.

I've found a solution, but I suspect it may only be temporary.
I changed the permission for the mic in the google app to ask every time. I then open the google app and manually trigger the google assistant which causes the permission prompt to appear. I then set it back to while using the app and it's been working normal for me since then
Edit: Google Assistant no longer works when screen is off and messes up again after restart. This is so annoying -.-

Sadly nothing found I received an email from oppo telling me to change my assistance language to Australia done that still not working it's like the microphone does not activate when you say OK Google here's the command but then the mic disengages it's really really frustrating

Gave up and factory reset the phone. Did not bother transferring data and the Google assistant is behaving like normal on the reset phone.im going through the process of bringing everything back, but it's nice to have the assistant back
So I was setting up the phone again and the issue returned. I was insanely frustrated so I went and reset system settings only before factory resetting again to see if that would fix the problem. It actually did.
So I set out to find what was causing the assistant to mess up and I found the culprit.
I use Bitwarden and I get it to autofill password prompts. To get it to work everytime, I enable all the accessibility options. It turns out that giving Bitwarden accessibility privileges actually stops the Google assistant from behaving like normal! Enabling them and revoking them fixes and breaks the assistant, so if you are using Bitwarden or any other app that uses those settings, try turning it off.

Hi there, You're the man, so any app that we have with Accessibility ON cause this issue, in my case i have Bitdefender that uses this and Refresh Rate Switcher.
This is a shame tho :\

Man this actually works!!! Thanks!
The culprit: You have to deactivate every app that uses accessibility services (in my case Bitwarden, Tasker, Nova Launcher and Autonotification app).
Will give that info to my support ticket.

Hello, I have the Chinese version. I Can't even enable the option for "Hey Google"/"Ok Google". Does anyone know how to activate this? Thanks!

So, anyone with a working Google Assistant AND activated accessibility privileges for an app in accessibility options?
Contacted support with it 1 1/2 months ago, 2 updates later and heard nothing. Still crap.

You mean the Android update for your X5? Ive had several updates for my RealME GT 2 pro .... still didn't fix ...
this issue is through multiple devices.

My mom had the same issue w/ her X5 Pro . Downloaded the latest betaapks for the Google app and Google Play services from ApkMirror. Once installed, it solved her issues (enabled French - France and English US as main languages)

Trouble with "Ok Google" Always On

[Original Post]
"Ok Google" works fine for me when the phone is on/unlocked without any training. However, to have it work even when the screen is off or the phone is locked it requires training your voice. For the life of me I can't get it to accept the training. It wants to record you saying "Ok Google" three times and it will move on to the second and third recordings after a previous recording is successful. I can't get it to move past the first recording. It just listens for a while and then times out. Anyone else have this issue? Any thoughts on how to resolve it?
[Update 1]
Clearing Google Search data made voice training quick and easy, but my option to have it always on has disappeared. See my post below. Thoughts?
[Update 2]
I just rebooted the phone and my "always on" option has returned but it wants me to retrain my voice. Now I can't get past the first recording again...
I don't have that issue. Voice training went off without a hitch. Did you go to a quiet place like the instructions said?

Thanks for the response. Yes, I was in a location with no sound.
Since posting the original post I found this thread where someone suggested clearing Google Search app data. I tried it and voice training was quick and easy. However, I don't seem to have the option for this to work with the screen off anymore. I can only do it when the screen is on, locked or unlocked.
Here is what the options used to look like (not my screenie, I just found this image on the web, probably from an N9 or something):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now here is what my screen looks like:
I no longer have the "always on" option. One step forward, one step backward.
@Marcellus1 I see that no one has offered any help here and I can't either. My N6 has the issue that your first picture shows. I am running Validus 5.0.1 alpha 1.0 Rom. I have read that this is an issue with all AOSP ROMs right now but there isn't very much being discussed about it. If you find a solution, please let me know. If I find one I'll definitely post it here.
The odd thing is that my my N5, N7(2013) and N9 all have this feature working flawlessly, all running Lollipop. My N6 is the only device with issues and I have tried 3 different ROMs as well as several different gapps packages to try to solve it to no avail.
you can try this thread, as thats what fixed my ok google everywhere and with screen off and unplugged http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/ok-google-everywhere-aosp-rom-t2963716
btw, im on rastapop.
I appreciate the replies. It seems that the fix is only a 50-50 chance of working AND it requires a custom ROM. I'm on stock, no root, no custom recovery, no anything special. I'll probably switch to a custom ROM at some point, but for now I don't think I'm ready to make the switch. One post mentioned in that thread referenced this other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57335716&postcount=295
The suggestion is to clear search and play data in order for the changes to survive a reboot, but that you lose the option for always on while not plugged in. That doesn't seem optimal either. Word is Android 5.1 due out in February or so will address "Ok Google" issues, which hopefully means this issue. Maybe I'll just sit tight until 5.1 rolls out before trying factory resets, custom ROMs or the like.
I had a Pressy inserted into my headphone port. Ok Google worked fine on the homescreen with the Pressy inserted, but it would not work with the voice training with the Pressy installed. If i did the voice training without the Pressy, then put the Pressy in, Google Now still worked ok on the homescreen, but not with screen off.
EDIT: I am rooted on stock ROM.

That's interesting. I've had a pressy in my headphone jack. When I try training my voice with Pressy inserted, the phone just endlessly listens and eventually times out. When I removed it and tried voice training again I immediately got "something went wrong" and "It's a little too noisy in here. Please find a quieter place and try again". (and I'm in a quiet place).
[EDIT]: As a follow-up, I've uninstalled Pressy and the AutomateIt Pressy plugin. I've cleared my search data, and installed the new Google (search) app (http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/01/07/google-app-hits-version-4-1-now-cards-settings-apk-download/), but still no luck training my voice.

Thanks for your suggestion but it did not work. I saw your suggestion previously and put it off because I didn't want to have to root my device. However, after getting the updated google (search) app today and it still not working, I decided to give it a go. Unlocked the device, rooted it, etc, then copied the files mentioned in your solution to the appropriate locations. Rebooted the device and now my "always on" feature is grayed out and disabled--it says this feature is currently unavailable for this language. The language is set to English (US). I cleared the search app data and was able to train the device immediately, but it was just like my post above where the always on is limited to when the screen is on and unlocked or when charging. Rebooting the phone and/or re-installing the updated google (search) app (because I lost it during the rooting process) takes me back to "this feature is currently unavailable for this language".
[EDIT]: I was looking through that thread some more and saw that some were having some success with flashing the zip by hlxanthus that was a little bit different from the original suggestion. I took my root a step further and installed a custom recovery and then flashed hlxanthus's zip. There is no change.
[EDIT 2]: As a follow-up to the previous edit, after flashing hlxanthus's zip, clearing search data no longer makes a change to enable voice training.

Thank you very much for the update! I was still having the issue and just forgot about it. I was thinking about trying out the 5.1 update but just haven't gotten around to it.
Me too, does not work with marshmallows, you have found a solution?
works fine on marshmallow over here. i even taught it to listen for ok nexus instead of ok google.
Do you have Now on Tap or Smart Lock enabled? Some people have reported that these cause issues with hot word detection.

This Feature is Broken Again!!!
I've noticed this is broken on Android N. I often clean install custom ROM and then the latest OpenGApps only to find that when I toggle on OK Google "Always On" the toggle instantly turns itself back off the moment I turn it on. There's some work arounds on the forums and I can usually make it work by Installing and old version of the Google App clearing all data for Google App then training voice model and setting OK Google "Always On" toggle to "On". Then after everything is working I go ahead and update Google App from Play Store and usually it keeps working. Sometimes it breaks again. I'm tired of working around this. I wanna know if it will ever again be possible to use this feature. This has been going on for months. Perhaps they should just remove the feature all together then at least it won't be there broken and useless.

[Q] Google Now not working. Network error. [SOLVED]

Ok
I have a brand new Droid Turbo that is having problems with Google Now. I get no Cards. The Google now screen is blank except for the past 3 searched items.
If I swipe from the left and hit settings/Now Cards the first item is Show card which is off and I can't change it and it has an error messages under it that says "Network error. Check your network connection and try again."
I can browse the internet fine with all apps be it WiFi or Verizon 4G. I have tried to clear data from the Google App, I've uninstalled the latest update, I have done two factor resets. My Nexus 7 gets to this just fine. Any clues?
Thanks.

I have the same exact issue too. Only it happens with certain apps too. Reddit sync pro is the worst/slowest app with the most lag. I made a thread on XDA a bit ago about the poor wireless/wifi performance,

Seems like many brands of routers paired with the Droid Turbo are acting up. Some report turning off IPV6 worked for them. It doesn't for me. I don't think it's a router issue as HTC and Apple devices work perfectly over wifi.
Hopefully Motorola gets the message...

You have completely misunderstood my problem.
I'm not having any lag nor are there any REAL network issues. My Google Now is blank. It doesn't show ANY cards. The error message says I have a network problem but I can use the phone just fine. Something is screwed up on Google Now. This has nothing to do with routers or anything of that nature.

Well, it just sounds mighty similar to what I and many others are experiencing.
Try it with wifi off and see if it does the same thing. For me, using verizons radio/data app grab data snappy like it should be. Wifi is my turbos issue.
Generally the turbo needs 2-3 tries of refreshing in in the play store, reddit sync, chrome and so on before loading images. For instance, the play store will show app tiles but take forever to load the icon. The wifi lag/poor responsiveness is intermittent happening around 50% the time an app needs data via wifi. Considering you just got your phone it might creep up on more apps as you use your phone. Just throwing it out there.
I also have the app Trend. Different apps show different errors and Trend will say "No data connection found" when my phone is acting shi**y over wifi. Refreshing it a couple of times generally restores data.
Had this issue just two days ago after refomatting my device and may have declined a google location setting. I posted my fix over in the Google help forums and this is what worked for me two days ago and its still working
Another thing to try that worked for me is> Google settings in the app drawer>Account History>Turn off Web&App Activity/Device Information/Voice & Audio Activity/ Youtube search History/ Youtube watch History/Google location History> wait five minutes and turn it all back on.
I tried this after i didnt know if it was my device or my account. so I deleted my google account from the phone and installed my wifes account and found "google now" worked perfect, so I knew it was in my account settings which was a relief. Thats how I found whats above worked for me. Maybe if the above doesnt work for you do as i did and install another persons google account on the phone see if the "google now "works then if it does then you know its your account, and try the above that worked for me.

Thanks,
I tried a second fake google account and it brought the Google Now wizard right up. So it is some kind of authentication issue or file corruption either in the phone or at google. Though my Nexus 7 works just fine so I doubt it is an issue with the account on google's end. I'll try your recipe and see if that clears it.

Good!!!
I searched all of the internets for a solution and didnt find anything. One time I did a voice google "remind me" and instead of saying this "is not avalible on this device" it said " enable web & app activity" so thats how I came up with the solution. Maybe you didnt have to do all that deleting the history, but I did and thats what worked. Glad it worked for you and a couple of others on the google help forum. Makes me feel like a big wig! LOL.. Yep there is no way to really know if that was a necessary step or it was swatting flies with nuclear weapons. But it got the job done and now I can finally enjoy my new phone. Accidentally washed my Moto X so this has been totally frustrating until now.

Thank you so much. It makes a lot of sense now.
I had this same problem when I purchased this phone coming from Moto X with 5.0.
Solved this by excluding the cards preferences in google settings.
After excluding this preferences, google now started working.

OK Google - PROBLEMS

I use ok google all the time to send texts especially when driving. frequently i am getting an error where she says
"actually, i can't do that while the device is locked" after unlocking with fingerprint it isn't recognized that the device is unlocked for some reason
it seems to be a MIUI problem as there is a huge thread http://en.miui.com/thread-274084-1-1.html
anyone know a solution?
also, one suggestion from Google is to just turn on Trusted Voice so that you can use the OK Google command when the device is locked. when i turn this on the OK Google command does not work and is not recognized no matter what screen i'm on let alone with the device locked
anyone ran into similar problems with the Mix?
I have a similar issue...If I disable lock pattern and then re-enable it it will work. A bit of hit and miss really. Would love a proper solution if there is one.

Same. I can't get it working from a black screen. My other devices will wake up and "listen". On the Mix, I have to activate the screen and then say ok google for it to listen. I did the resetting the lock screen and it did help get ok google to listen on the lock screen. So thanks for that.
I also have the same problem with the latest Google app but it works with version 4.92.16 except that I'm not able to use ok Google from screen off. I hope there's a solution to this
Not sure if i just haven't used OK Google enough yet, or if it has legit fixed the problem...but after converting google to a system app i have not run into this error yet with over 20 times using OK Google. we will see if it holds up.
did you have this problem before making it system app and went away after?
I figured this out.
Browse to Google App > Settings > Voice > "OK Google Detection" and enable "Personal results"
Kind of a workaround, since this allows actions when your device is locked, but works well for me.
I don't have that option for enable Personal results.
I only have
From the Google App
From Any Screen
Trusted Voice
While Driving
All four are enabled.
personal ressults has always been enable and still no joy.
I don't even have while driving.
Only three options.
I don't think it's a MIUI thing. It happens on my Google Pixel XL with the latest Nougat. Same message.

disable OK google listening

Ok I was able disable the OK google and it only listen when I press the mic icon. Now no matter what I do in the google app settings it's always listening. My only current option is to disable microphone permissions which isn't what I want since I can't press the mic icon and speak.
I had it setup on the note8 with android 9 to only listen when the mic icon is pressed. Got the note 9 did the same settings and it still responds when I say OK or hey google.
Currently have the microphone permissions disabled since my phone does NOT need to listen all the time. Is there a setting I am missing?
I had to remove the Google search widget to stop it from always listening. It is stupid that they removed the option to simply turn it off.

Exactly. Disable the "Google" app improve the memory and battery usage, imo
Interesting, I disabled the Google app for about 30 minutes and could not use voice with chrome so turned it back on. The mic permissions are enabled but OK google is now disabled yet I can push the mic icon and use voice for searching again.
So its exactly how I want it but a very strange way to get there. I have no clue how this worked but it did.
Well after a restart and about 20 minutes it went back to listening.
That's odd - it's definitely off on mine, but I can't find where I deactivated it! I use Nova Launcher, and there is an option in the Settings under 'Gestures and Inputs' to disable 'OK Google hotword' - maybe that's how I did it? But 'OK Google' doesn't work anywhere on my Note 9 (did this to save battery and because I have a Google Home & Mini).
EDIT: And I do have the Google App installed.
Not sure what's going on. Google runs me around when I tired to ask them. I know exactly where the setting is and its disabled but still listens for the "OK google "
Personally I would love someone with influence to get attention to this but it seems a little hit or miss on setups so not sure. I have the mic disabled.
I did do a really stupid test if my device was listening and used let's say red flag words to see if anyone was listening. Ironically the words I used are related to an event happening in my city which was horrible timing on my part but semi proved to me no one heard it.

Yes that works. The only thing I don't want is it to disable voice in chrome app which this does.
The settings to disable OK Google are there but don't function and google themselves either don't understand what I am saying or don't want to admit the setting doesn't function as it should.

It's not easy to find the option to turn off the Google assistant, but it's there.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) default apps > device assistance app
You'll want to change "device assistance app" to "none" and then "voice input" to "Google". The you should be all set.
To go a step further, you can disable the Google assistant from running at all on your device.
Google app > "more" (lower right hand corner) > settings > Google assistant > assistant
Then, at the bottom you should see "assistant devices" with "phone" listed. Select phone and then toggle Google assistant off.
This should do the trick.

I was able to do the first part of device assistant app to none. The voice input option doesn't allow me to pick just google option.
Either way this has solved my issue and is now working they I want it to. Going to try a restart and see if it persists unlike my previous attempt.
Thanks again for finding this.
I like having the search widget and be able to type or voice input my search if I don't know how to spell something. With all the news of companies admitting they listen and record voice stuff having my device always listening is very unsettling. I guess it's a little paranoid but I live in a bad part of my city and I really don't want to be red flag because I walked by a drug deal which happens all to often.
That's strange, because that exactly what it should do when you disable Voice Match, since it is said that's it's actually the "anywhere OK Google listening".
Try deleting your voice imprint on the same setting page too maybe.
I wonder why is working fine on my phone and not on others.

I have no saved voice imprint saved. At least someone was able to find a work around that was a to do what I wanted.

Question Keyboard and voice typing issues on Android 12

I upgraded the S21 ultra to Samsung 12.
When I did it wouldn't let me use siwftkey keyboard, voice typing, and I lost the google voice features.
I played with every in language input I could find. Nothing worked.
I went to apps and I uninstalled Google back to factory settings. Then everything worked fine. I even turned off Google updates in play store so I can use voice typing and bluetooth voice dial.
Overnight for whatever reason it all stopped working again. I updated Google, it didn't work, and then uninstalled it again and it worked.
There has to be some trick I am not figuring out because it should work without having to uninstall Google. Any advice would be appreciated.
use other keyboards for now
It did the same for the Samsung keyboard.
I don't think it is a keyboard issue. I think it is something with Google. I'm far from an expert but that's what it seems. I just don't know the work around.
Am I lucky to not have received the update yet? Anyway, I would troubleshoot this by doing a backup first. Then trying to use Safe mode.
Maybe even go back into recovery and clear the cache.
The end game would be a factory reset.
That's if you're impatient like me.
I restarted the phone and everything is now normal

I am having the exact issue after the update to Android 12. Microphone works on calls but "hey Google" does not respond, voice recorder doesnt hear my voice, keyboard voice input doesnt work. Did a factory reset still no luck. Checked "speech services by google" and it is enabled.....What to do? If I could get into the secret menu and check my microphones (I understand there are 3 of them) I would but no secret codes seem to work. Help!

I won't "take advantage" of the update yet, every other post reflects users having issues with Android 12 One UI 4.0. No excuse for releasing this version with so many glitches.

Try using the diagnostic test. It's under. Battery and device care. It tests all sensors and stuff.
thank you so much!! I never saw that area! It confirmed that mic1 is not working.
