Rog 3 Strange wifi problem?! - ASUS ROG Phone 3 Questions & Answers

So I am facing strange wifi problem let me explain
Wifi works fine for some time then it goes to limited connection after that it goes off I need to restart the device many many times to make it work again and when I get the bug I see some strange logcat attached below anyone can understand what's wrong and where is the driver path because sometimes everything works fine and sometimes it's not

Update: it was hardware issue and probably not gonna be easy to believe what was causing this: I got this phone second handed so I thought I should check the motherboard removed back cover and opened screws and checked phones wifi worked like a charm! I was confused then I made everything back as before and problem came up again!! I was so confused now after a day of thinking I thought it was about the screws on the motherboard cover so I opened them little bit and checked again wifi works pretty fine now so if I tightened the screws like factory it made the wifi screw up but opening the screw in medium level wifi went good 4 hours now and Everything works fine I will update after few days again

problem with touch screen, can't click on anything

i just recently bought my xda2s and it worked fine for a week though. now, from time to time my screen would be "untouchable". literally i cannot click anything or open anything even if i soft-reset it for 10x. buttons seem to work fine but the screen does not. it happened twice while my bluetooth was "on" and i thought maybe it was the bluetooth but recently the same thing happened with my bluetooth now turned "off". i have to wait for hours before it would return to normal again. Anybody help please? By the way, my bluetooth version is 1.0.0 build 3500.
I had a similar problem on my Samsung SPH-i700 PocketPC Phone through Verizon Wireless. Even after a hard reset, I couldn't get past the screen calibration, until I found out that a piece of hair and debris found on the outer edge of the screen right under the lip of the cover was interfering with the touch portion of the display. Apparently, the touch sensors extend past the visible area of the screen, so with both a little aircan and vacuum cleaning, the debris was picked up and the touch screen functioned normally again.
Is this a consistent and/or intermittent problem? Did a hard reset resolve anything?
look for the alignment
Do you have Calligragher 7.4 installed? I read about this in Tekguru website that if you re-install 7.3, the problem goes away. That is what I have done and it seems to be working for me so far (2 days test).
i've checked out my screen and i dont see any dirt or something... i even have a screen protector... dont know if that might cause the problem. Same thing happened last night but this time it was just for a short period of time then it went back to normal... I didn't try a hard reset cause i dont want to loose some of my files but if ever it happened again, i might try doing a hard reset and see what happens... right now, im having my xda2s checked if maybe it's a factory defect or something...
regarding the caligrapher program thing, i dont have that...
Hey, i have the exact same problem I bought mine here in Toronto, from an Asian dealer, its the O2 XDA IIs asia-pacific model.
Same problem, screen(touch screen) goes dead like no responses to any touches, for like half hour - 2hour once in a day or something and nothing cures it, hard soft rest nothing. just with time it suddenly starts working and the Handheld is useless until then...well i dont see any cure and this is the only place i have heard about someone else having this issue, i will take it back to the dealer, in hopes of exchanging.
any feedback will be will be appreciated
overclock it for a few days..that fixed mine..dont know how but it did.
There is a tread in blue angel about screen aliment that you might like to read. seems 4k of devices went out with screen problems.
What is overclock it. Fairly new to this. Mine just keeps trying to allign and thats all it does it doesnt go into boot mode just allign screen all the time

Dimaond Gets Hot and Screen Alignment Goes Out

I have done a reasonable amount of searching on this and have not found anything specific to my problem so figured I should post a question.
I have an issue with my Dimaond when it gets hot generally either using Wifi or Phone Data connection that the screen goes out. Basically everything goes to the left side of the phone so if you hit the Task Icon in the top right corner you get the Start Menu. Phone is basically useless at this point and you have to wait for it to cool down. Has happened since day one and is generally worse when using it when charging. I was watching Utube on it the other night 5min video while on AC charge and it went out. I am running Dutty 2.5 Rom and 25.07 radio have tryed 25.08 and 25.05 no difference was happening when the phone had orginal HTC ROM as well. Also will happen on a long call if the screen is on.
Basically feel issue is hardware related and maybe faulty screen still under warrenty so wanted to know peoples opinion on weather I should send back. Problem is will take a couple of weeks and I don't really wnat to wait that long if I can help it. Also assume it would be best to flash standard ROM back, should I do anything with HARDSPL eg should this be changed back as well if I send it back.
And before anyone says it I have tryed searching this topic and have found lots about HOT dimaonds but nothing related to screen going out at the same time :-(
Thanks
I had this issue in my JasJam (Hermes) whre the screen would simply go white after a while of use and I would have to leave it for a while for it to work again.
Unfortunately it sa hardware issue and you should claim a warranty repair on it
I can't see how this could be a software problem so I figured it must be the screen eg hardware related. Would be nice to know if anyone has had the same issue with a dimaond... Seems we may be spending some time apart, just hope it doesn't take long to fix..
I've had the same issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428976
My first device had been replaced recently (i.e. today) by my network provider (o2) and the new device seems to work without any problems now even if it's "hot".
(i.e. default screen adjustment + creating heat by activating the phone, wlan, bt + recharging it)
I sent an email to HTC regarding the fault and they said it would have to go back for a warrenty repair. I brought it through a resellar so has to go back to HK from NZ so will be away three weeks uurggghhh... Just seems odd I don't have any physical damage on the screen but hte problem has been around since day one as I remember having the problem the first day I got it. Juyst seems to be getting worse and is easily reproduced by usiung utube over wifi gets hot and it is all over. Just wondering if I should put an offical ROM from HTC back on the device before I send it back as I currenty am running Dutty ROM, what do you think....
i put the original rom back on and they still found out the the rom had been flashed, and would not repair on warranty
yep, i also asked about this problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438733
there are some youtube video's of how the phone behaves
my phone seems to do it less frequently since stopping using panosha's rom
im using alpha zero 7 at the moment..
i've also noticed that it isnt necessarily a heat issue, my phone does it completely at random
yesterday i found though, that when the phone did the alignment issue, i gave it a good shake.. and hey.. its all aligned again?!
maybe it was just a fluke, it hasnt freaked out since..
holding thumbs
Hey,
I also have the same screen problem, but my Alignment goes to right.
If I press on the left side, a press on the right side is recognized.
Good to know that Im not the only one with this problem.
greets doena
I got my phone back a week ago replaced the screen has been away for over two months, complete disaster, anyway all sorted now and I have not had the problem since....
I had this exact same issue (out of the box).
It was a hardware fault and I exchanged it for another one.
Haven't had any problems since.

Hardware's fault ? Most likely not. I will give u an example of why I think it was software related. My device ran hot as well but I simply switched roms and now it's the complete opposite. Your most recent device most likely come with a different Rom in the phone.

[Q] Touchscreen sometimes work's sometimes doesn't

I've been looking for threads on this topic for some time now. I've seen even one funny thread that said it's good to use TV static on touchscreen to fix it
So, basically my touchscreen stopped working one day. I didn't have time to look at it so for few days I just used buttons to use it. Then it started to work and worked for about a week, and suddenly stopped working again. For about a week, when it started working again.
Then I figured I could just reboot my phone when touchscreen stopped working, and if I took out the battery it magically worked again. But now it won't work so I'm stuck in about 1 week long breaks from my TS.
It's not exactly 7 days, I'm not counting, but it seems to be 6-8 days for each "phase". Now it's quite major inconvenience because last time it worked I changed my alarms and now I have to get up earlier, and Kaiser rings while I'm at work. While other areas of WM6.5 I can usually navigate with just buttons it doesn't work in alarm settings.
I haven't installed anything around the time it started the strange behavior. I don't think it was caused by a fall too, but I can't be sure if it didn't fell back then.
Anyone has ideas for what to do, how to fix it? I read in other thread one could check if TS connectors are tightly connected, but I don't want to open Kaiser to check especially if it's possible that the cause is completely different.
This is a slim chance but worth a try..
Check carefully around the edges of the screen and make sure there's no dirt or anything pressing on the screen.. There's a rubber gasket that's there to keep dirt out but if you get anything under the gasket it will press on the screen making it unresponsive. Take a small piece of thin cardboard and go around it to clean it out.
I had a similar problem and this is what it turned out to be..
Old post but it might help somebody out..
Could it be the metal front housing pressing on the touch screen irregularly?
Should there be a small space in between?

[Q] Wifi not turning on

I bought a galaxy note n7000 from a friend. It has android 4.1.2 installed. build number is n7000XXLSA.
the problem is wi fi doest turn on.I mean whenever i want to switch it on it seems its trying to get on but fails. The green light never shines on it.
The problem i cant understand lies with hardware or software.
Sometimes the wifi gets connected and then it works like a charm. But most of the times no matter how hard i try it never gets turned on. Ive tried factory reset, restart, removing batter and memory card nothing seems to work. I tried wifi fixer app but nothing happened.
I am not very technically aware of rooting, and how to modify it. But i think from what ive learnt is it is caused by updating from ICS to jelly bean 4.1.2
I dont know whether my phone is locked or unlocked, rooted or un rooted cause im totally new with phone.
Please someone guide me how can i rectify this problem, I dont mind taking risk with my phone but wanna know what all should i do to solve wifi issues.
Plus i also would like to update to 4.2.2 kindly let me know step by step starting from basics how should i go about it.
regards
Go to settings and wi-fi and there when you turn on the wi-fi it should show the your network which is remembered and show read something as authenticating obtaining ip addreas and such.. Just select your netwirk once and click on forget and then try to connect again putting in your network key.. To check if you are rooted or not: you must have an app which saya superuser or su.. You can also download root checker app from market to see if you are rooted or not..

sorry for the long post but this will work
After three months of dealing with the same problem on my GT N7000 as nashbloom i have found a fix to this wi fi problem.
And I mean WIFI problem. this is not a matter of obtaining a connection, this is a problem where the wifi wont switch on at all.
It trys, to switch on (sort of transition phase) than freezes or fails and turns off again.
Just as I was preparing to back up my phone and take it in to samsung the next day I found a post on a you tube clip saying to clean corrosion built up on wi fi antenna.
Desperate, I tried it,
1. remove 9 screws (dont worry they are all the same size) on back and remove cover
2. with a cotton tip/bud wipe corrosion in top left hand corner (looking at the back of the phone)
3. not knowing what a wifi antenna looks like and having seen no corrosion i wiped everything including the cover.
4. i removed a few connectors and put them back in place.
5. put everything back in place and problem was instantly fixed
I did this two days ago but have had one time where the same problem reoccured, otherwise, perfect.
P.S. This is proof that this is a hardware problem not a software one, but i kind of knew that when i changed every wifi setting on the phone several times
will try these today
I will try these today as soon i get home.. i been looking around for a fix.. I hope these will resolve it

Two months now with this silly wifi issue. Did this trick help with your phone?
I did everything possible trying to solve this problem but to no avail.
Wiped anything that could be wiped on the inside, replaced the USB port board, but wifi is relentlessly disconnecting at random times.
Any idea?

I found something weird.. when the phone is without the back cover wifi works perfect. when I put it back the wifi goes off. ???? I really do not know was wrong with the phone.. (i do not use it anymore).. the only guess is that the back cover pressure something to the board and disconnect the wifi.. I really do not have a explanation.. take care..

Like everyone here, I was having the problem with the greyed out WiFi and also got some practice with flashing firmwares and doing factory resets, backups and restores, all in vane.
I found this post and decided to give it a try, also checking a YouTube video about how to open the GT-N7000
My phone did not have any corrosion, but after reconnecting, i.e. taking out and plugging in again, all connectors to the main board, the WiFi came back to life. That was two days ago. I cannot say it works like a charm, after a couple of hiccups, I just don't trust this phone anymore and I think I had the greyed icon once yesterday when I tried to switch off and on the WiFi.
This experience led me to believe that there is something with the connectors that got loose after my phone has fallen off my pocket a couple of times. If you wear pants that were not designed to carry phablets, this might happen to you as well.
Anyway, a big THANK YOU to atchya for the idea of opening the phone.
Cheers,
[Possible solution]Follow the link how to clean up the connectors
Yeah above solution works. This Is the only way I got my wi-fi to work. Tried re-flashing Rom (downgraded and upgraded) even re-flashed Radio. Finally cleaned up , unconnected and reconnected cables, so far works fine (no greying out of menus etc.) . Will keep you posed
edit: Open the photos in different tabs to see the antenna connectors, they are tagged you will know exactly what to clean

[Q] Sony Xperia ZR Wifi & Bluetooth functionality Disabled

Hi,
Brought the Sony Xperia ZR a few months ago.
It was giving problem with Bluetooth right from the beginning but haven't bothered about it as I used it rarely.
The wifi initially was working fine, but few days ago it just refuse to turn ON.
When tried to turn ON the wifi using ON/OFF slider it hangs up showing pale blue color & comes back to OFF state.
The exact same thing happens to the Bluetooth slider as well. (See attached screenshot)
Searched in some forums & see many people faced similar problems with their device as well.
However no one have given proper solution for it.
Tried everything from Re-boot, Factory Reset & Phone repair option using PC Comparison...None have worked to resolve the problem.
Some people say it is hardware issue & needs replacement of device however others say they had same problem come back even in replaced phone as well.
There was something mentioned about region code reset mentioned here
android.kul.is/2013/09/sony-xperia-zr-wifi-problem.html
but it looks unverified.
PLEASE provide solution for this issue.
Thanks in Advance.
There are other people who have similar issues, including me. Symptoms vary, but ultimately we are unable to use wifi and BT.
I have an additional issue with no USB connection to PC

One of my friend is using the same phone for over a year now & have not upgraded to Kitkat & never had any issue.
Do you think downgrading the phone from Kitkat to JelllyBean will resolve this?
Don't know. People say that things work igf you poke the phone at right places. (is the ZR a human to get excited when fingered right?)
I had some success doing it and wifi worked for a few hours. This is obviously a hardware issue.

It's a hardware fault. There's a flex cable attached to the motherboard that comes loose and this leads to bluetooth and WIFI problems. Bluetooth seems to be the thing that goes first which is what you've seen people complaining about.
You can fix (at least temporarily) by pushing the flex cable in.
1. turn off phone
2. take out battery
3. carefully peel up black adhesive tape that was underneath battery. You only need to peel up top right corner near battery connection.
4. Underneath you'll see flex cable going into main body toward camera.
5. Carefully push this in or get something very thin and flat and carefully slide in under flex cable toward camera.
6. Reassemble and see if it worked.
I haven't had bluetooth in ages. Then my 2.4 WIFI dropped out like yours and I could only use 5G WIFI. FM radio also stopped working. I looked at the disassembly manual and worked out it must be that flex cable as pushing in the body below the flash fixes bluetooth/WIFI/Radio temporarily. I tried pushing flex cable in and voila FM Radio and WIFI started working. A bit more wriggling and bluetooth came back on.
However, it seems to keep coming loose again and so I'm going to have a go disassembling fully soon to see if I can make a permanent fix. Just waiting on replacement glue strips from China for underneath the screen.
It's just a poor quality connector that comes loose. It would be an easy fix if you could access the insides but because it's waterproof the only way to get in is removing screen etc.
Ok. Bad news sorry.
I opened up the phone and had a go reconnecting the flex cable. It didn't fix Bluetooth.
It did fix the 2.4g wifi but only temporarily again.
I think it must be a problem on the motherboard.
Sorry. I really thought I'd figured it out.
sad
:crying::crying:
I felt light of hope but all in vain. I knew that it has a motherboard problem that cant be fixed. Sometimes the phone gets restarted several times it self to activate 2.4 Ghz wifi. It is mother board problem. now the only way of using wifi is either purchasing 5GHz wifi router or creating 5Ghz wifi hotspot through pc or any andorid cellphone.
you should try flashing last version of 4.3 n see if BT n WiFi work as u want
Already tried. It's a hardware problem.
Actually I have another idea. I've noticed that the second Mic doesn't work very well. There's two circuit boards inside, one with Mic and other stuff on it and then the main motherboard. They have two contact points that are just touch contacts, not hard connections. There's shiny metallic squares that make contact. I wonder if they're the issue? It would explain why pressing in that place under the flash activates Bluetooth. However when I looked at them when open I couldn't figure out a way to press them together any closer. I'm going to have another go later today.
---------- Post added at 07:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 AM ----------
In saying that, they're nowhere near the Bluetooth antenna. The Bluetooth antenna is actually under the top left corner of the phone when looking from battery side. You can access it by increasing the torx screw and prying up the waterproof cover. The cover has some glue stuff underneath to keep waterproof.
---------- Post added at 07:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:54 AM ----------
Removing not increasing torx. Stupid autocorrect.
Ummm I just flashed stock 4.2 and wifi is fine. 4.3 wifi is dead. 4.4 is dead. What did they change at 4.3?

wifi sometimes gets connected for few hours. After that it again dies
That is work for me
Same problem with me bro. Then i will flash my phone with flashtools and then its works fine
Ok I've figured out the Bluetooth
Just like the WiFi the problem is a poor connection to the bottom board which is free to float around. It was an Idiot who designed this connection, bottom board should have been sitting on plastic shelf or spacers.
I've attached two pictures showing the pin 1 that needs to contact the conductive plate 2.
I fixed by placing small stacks of the screen adhesive under the four corners of the floating bottom board 2.
This forces it up to make a better connection with top board 1.
Obviously you need to remove screen to do this.
However, it may be possible to fix by jamming a small rigid piece of plastic in the top of micro usb slot above the jack as that's the corner of top board that needs to be forced down.
Another alternative maybe to open the corner from the back and try and force the bottom board against the top. There's two screws and some prying to do there.
Also, in addition to the adhesive spacers, I suggest placing some copper tape on the conductive square (2) to improve reliability of the connection. Similarly with the wifi squares which are on opposite side and corner of floating bottom board (2) to the bluetooth square.
My Bluetooth and wifi are now fixed. Yay.
