Question Xiaomi.eu to Global stable - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

can anyone point me in the right direction to change from Xiaomi.eu to the global stable rom? I have been using Xiaomi.eu weekly roms, but i am running into some performance issues that I didn't experience using the global rom.
i did try the directions here: https://www.droidwin.com/switch-xiaomi-rom-from-eea-to-global-stable-developer-on-locked-bootloader/ but ended up in a fastboot loop and ending up going back to Xiaomi.eu.

Check the version that your phone came on and you have to go back to miui12 basically android 11 stock via fastboot flash

I had a similar issue when I tried the android 12 pixel rom. U need to flash stock onto your device and make sure you use the correct rom or you will keep getting a flash error

ok I bought the phone used. I believe that it came with the china rom installed, the person who sold it to me flashed global before I put on the Xiaomi rom.

a simple way to confirm that,
the back of your phone does have only XIAOMI logo on it? or does it have small font writings like (made in china, 5G, etc)? if it is plain with XIAOMI logo only then it is 100% Chinese version.

It is just the logo, so the china model. Would I need to revert back to the china rom before moving to global?

Not really, but seems like you have a missing step.
It is always a headache to go back to official ROMs from eu rom

Use the EU stock global that's what worked for me. Any stock should work along as u got access to fastboot and don't need edl Auth flash

Question Can anyone share their experiences of Xiaomi.eu ROM vs Global ROM?

I own the Mi 11 with CN ROM and have been using it in North America. I'm thinking of flashing a different ROM to see if it will be a better experience. Has anyone in my situation flashed both the Global ROM and Xiaomi.eu ROM and can give an opinion on which is better overall? I'd be interested in things like speed, battery life, Play services compatability etc.
Thanks in advance!
It basically boils down to privacy vs latest updates.
Xiaomi will phone home as much as you let it, I think the EU rom is supposed to fix that but updates take a little longer.

Global is different to the Xiaomi EU one but many wrongly call the EU one global.
Xiaomi EU is based on the Chinese ROM.
Global is for outside China and has less features than Chinese and Xiaomi EU ROM.

I knew that the Global ROM (developed by Xiaomi) is meant for phones outside of China. I also understood that the Xiaomi.eu ROM is created by developers and is different (but based on) the Chinese stock ROM that shipped with the phone. I think you confused me by saying the "Chinese EU ROM" instead of "Xiaomi.eu" ROM which is what I usually see people say.
What I don't like about the Chinese stock ROM for Chinese users is that it doesn't seem to fully support all Google services and the implementation of Android 11 isn't complete (for example I don't see the Nearby Share feature).
What features does the Global ROM (created by Xiaomi for international users) lack that the Chinese ROM has? I think that as long as the Global ROM supports Google services fully I would be happy with it. If not then I guess I would flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM but it would be annoying to have to apply all updates manually.

Can't actually remember most of them but there was a few. A lot of the AI options like app pre loading etc
Xiaomi also confirmed the global Miui 12.5 update will be a "lite" version of the Chinese Miui so software will be more basic.
When I had the Mi 10 the EU version worked better than the global one with Google and notifications in general. Might of sorted that with next month's release.

Ok. Thanks for the info
I have CN ROM and had to tweak it like crazy to get rid of the China stuff and to get notifications to work. Turned off the battery saver for every app I needed notifications and enabled every option.
Now with EU ROM I didn't have to do anything like that, and have the google feed on the left. Everything is perfect with EU - well recommended.
Excuse me for jump in...I want to by Mi 11 Pro. I want Google Play, Google pay, banking aps, Netflix to work. Shell I stay on Chinese Rom or put Xiaomi.eu Rom? I am from Europe. Thanks!
Edit: Now I see it´s an old Topic :-/

I have already tried the latest stable MIUI14 from xiaomi.eu and it seemed quite alright
But I had one problem - which was rather annoying
I couldn't get my banking app to install properly. And I believe that is because the bootloader is unlocked. But my device was original CN, which I then flashed to xiaomi.eu (and locking the bootloader after that, is not recommended!)
So my question here is - if I install the Global ROM instead (which is xiaomi official, in contrary to the xiaomi.eu ROM), will I be able to lock the bootloader after flashing?

The EU ROM doesn't need to lock bootloader.
The EU ROM looks have a issue relate Google Backup.
Does anyone have the same issue?
New - Google Drive backup bug? Backup gone after reboot [updated]
[updated description below because it seems like backups dissappear after reboot] Not sure if this is from ROM or the Google Drive app. After a day or two my Google backup of my phone dissappears. Even though done successfully before and also shown in Google Drive, it dissappears after a day...
xiaomi.eu
One good reason to move to EU rom: it fixed stuff where China Rom doesn't!
For example, in China/Global ROM miui14.0.12 the AOD display will always turn itself off if it lay on a dark room for around 10 minutes. And turning off Bluetooth from android top down menu will turn off 24 hours only and not forever.
In Miui EU, this they fixed it by making it on always. Same goes to Bluetooth turning off when pressed from top drop down menu.
And many other translation jitter you can notice in China Rom if you were to restart your phone. For instance, calendar will show 1 second of Chinese before becoming english.

You can, it's the same ROM, at least for xiaomi.eu
The first thing I do when I buy a xiaomi / redmi / poco is to change my rom to xiaomi.eu. I prefer to have the mi phone and mi messages aplication and there are options that the Global rom does not have, such as super wallpapers for example.
Has ther been any issue about going back to Official Global such as Anti-Roll-Back etc.?
Didn't flash for some time and asking myself if it's still a problem...

If you change ROM branch ( move from your Xiaomi EU version to any other, EEA, Global, Stock Chinese etc etc) you MUST format data after flashing or you may find you get stuck in a boot loop until you do. This is due to possible partition differences between the ROM branches.

If youre planning to move to the global rom, dirty flashing will not work. You will have to reset the phone.
I suggest downloading the fastboot version of the rom and flashing it.
This will reset your phone and format it as well. But this will prevent any issues in the future which might occur from other methods since it installs everything from scratch.

From the what i know and read, in the track record of xiaomi, they give more importance to global roms, but currently if im not wrong, EU is at a higher version. Not sure if this will stay as the phone is still releasing globally and the global rom updates might start coming later.

Question Mi11, EU or Global ROM? Which is better?

Hi,
Just ordered a Mi11 from China, and I would like to flash it with a global or EU stock firmware.
Would you recommend the Global or the EU one?
I am not a customer rom type really and I would just like to have the phone as close as a stock firmware experience with google services, OTA s and all.. although I understand it will never be perfect since the boot loader needs to stay unlocked.
Is it just a matter of unlocking BL and flash it with a stock firmware found here https://c.mi.com/global/miuidownload/index, am I right?
Thanks

I'm using MMX MIUI 13 latest beta build with some app updated from miui stock apps group and I have the new widgets and phone is very responsive and good battery performance. After I unlocked the bootloader I downloaded the fastboot rom from their site and just flashed every straight forward and easy. Just remeber to format data once you do the initial setup I'm case you have issues with storage permissions. So basically after you flashed go through the setup screen don't set it up just finish a quick set up and go to settings and format again through settings after it's done just setup device like you would normally do.

So you must said EEA, not EU for don't create understanding problems.
Be careful because you have a Chinese model, so don't relock bootloader (if using MiFlash) because by default MiFlash apply option "Lock & Clean". Each time you'll use MiFlash, be sure to select on the right bottom just "Clean all", never lock with a another ROM model than Chinese. If you lock bootloader with a EEA/Global ROM, you will brick your device.
