Can Tasker silence my audio when a phone rings? - Tasker Tips & Tricks

I apologize in advance, I don't actually have Tasker and am asking this to see if it would give me the capability I'm after. I often have audio going either from the TV or the cell phone itself. I want to automate silencing the audio when the phone rings. I have a land line as well as the cell phone, but the land line also rings the cell phone. I generally prefer answering on the land line. I can silence the TV by executing a URL.
So what this comes down to is this. Can Tasker detect an incoming ring on the cell phone, stop any audio on the cell phone itself and also execute the url which will shut down TV audio.
I haven't found a way to do this without Tasker.

[Q] toggle call between BT handsfree and phone

Hi,
I have a Blue-tooth hands-free set in my car.
Often I need to walk away from my car during a phone call.
It also happens that I am outside the car, a few yards/meters away from it when I make or get a call. when this happens the audio goes to the BT headset, but I can't hear it or be heard because I'm not near it.
So how can I make an ongoing call move from the BT headset back to my phone?
It has to be done from the phone only. No pressing buttons on the headset itself etc. (as I explained, I might be far from the headset and the car may be locked, etc.)
ThanX in advance!

How to prevent my car from auto-playing music when I connect bluetooth to Nexus 5X?

Hello, I currently use Tasker to prevent my car from automatically playing music when Bluetooth connects to the stereo system. However, I would also like it to prevent the Bluetooth autoplay when ending a call. Does anyone know how I can do that? I was looking at creating a new profile that detects when the Bluetooth is connected and also when the phone call ends, but I couldn't get it to work.
Also, my current profile isn't perfect... I'd love to figure out a way to obliterate the autoplay bluetooth feature of my Toyota. I have it disabled to only about 1/5th the time but still, it's annoying.
Thanks!.

Bluetooth switching on incoming call with tasker?

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to 'switch' my Bluetooth devices when an incoming call comes using tasker?
I currently have an Android headunit in my car but the quality is terrible, the person on the other end complains about an echo every call. I still use the headunit to stream audio though. I've given up on fixing the headunit, so I've decided to buy a hands free kit for making and receiving calls.
So I want to be able to set something up in tasker on my phone along the lines of "if incoming call, then connect to X Bluetooth device (hands-free)". Then after the call the Bluetooth will switch back to the headunit when the hands-free device is powered down.
Does this seem plausible? If not I will just have to do all Bluetooth through the hands-free kit.

Could do, but the lag might be problematic.
What I do is long press the device in the Bluetooth list and deselect media sharing for the headset. Then deselect phone & contact sharing for the head unit.
This works to route calls to my headset in the car.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have done similar with a Bluetooth speaker at home that I didn't want to do calls on. Would my phone (Nexus 6p) allow/need to be connected to the headunit and handsfrer at the same time for your suggestion to work though?

Yes, you can connect to both. I do it all the time. If you wait for a call to come in to connect to a device, you're likely to miss the call. Tasker would have to recognize a call coming in, then connect to the hands free unit then you answer the call. Lots of steps ☺

Bluetooth and notification sounds

Sadly, Google decided to make Android 9 stream every sound a phone can make to a connected BT device, no matter if that device is capable of playing that sound, and no matter if streaming every sound makes sense at all. This leads to not hearing alarms and notifications and it also means you can't hear directional instructions by you navigation app when your phone is paired to your car's radio for phone calls only.
And sadly, Lineage decided not to undo this not-so-clever idea of Google.
I know we had this discussion before, but being not able to hear my navigation app drives me crazy every day I need to use it. My company car is equipped with a BT capable radio, that can handle calls only. But as soon as the radio and my phone are connected, Android/LOS still tries to send every tone and every sound to that radio, resulting in silencing my phone completely.
I tried some apps that can redirect any sound in a way that they appear as a phone call to a connected BT device. But those apps block calls, and while I am talking to some one, there won't be any navigation instructions on the car's speaker either and I have to rely on optical instructions, removing my vision from the happenings on the road. These apps also make the radio useless as a radio: you have to keep it switched to BT input all the time.
How about the other way round? Is there any app that can make Android stop sending a specific audio output to a connected BT device? If it's possible to disguise even music as a phone call, I imagine it should be possible to tell BT to use the phone's speaker for a specific source of sound.
There is a setting in maps whether to send directions via Bluetooth

There's a similar setting in Osmand, which sends directions as a phone call to the BT device. But using this option will interrupt the paring for phone calls, so you can't have both, you have to decide whether to use hand free calling mode or to hear your navigation directions.
BT and its settings was a thousand times more sophisticated in Android 7 / LOS 14, when alarms and notification sounds where played over the phones speaker, while your music or calls was sent to a BT device. Now, in A8/LOS15 and above, all sounds are send to a paired and active BT device. So, if your ear phones are activated, and you put them into your pocket, you won't hear any text notification or any alarm. I can not imagine the poor way of thinking at Google's development department that has lead to this idea.
