Best Redmi Note 9 camera app with custom ROM? - Redmi Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hello,
Just today I have installed a custom ROM on my Redmi Note 9. The truth is that in general I am very happy with the performance and user experience so far.
The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is the application of the camera and the use it makes of the sensors. I have noticed that it only uses 3 of the 4 camera sensors and that I do not have configuration options where I can manipulate the camera to my liking and according to my needs.
I have no way to configure the resolution, so I don't know if I'm taking advantage of the maximum pixels of the camera. I have no way to set the video quality. In short, some useful things are missing.
Don't get me wrong, apps like GCam, Google Cam, ANXCamera, Camera Go work fine, but they lack that ability to take full advantage of the sensors.
Is there an application that allows me? (better if it's free)
I thank you in advance for the recommendations.

[Q] Can I assign a different camera app to the physical camera button?

As the title states, I'm wondering if I can assign the Google camera app to the physical camera button on my Xperia Z3C.
I find the stock camera app is very poor at keeping focus and takes sub-par images when compared to other camera apps available on Google Play.
Also, anyone have any tips for taking better pictures with the Z3C? I'm finding that despite the camera's high number of pixels, it's not the best for taking pictures, even when compared to my old iPhone 4!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
AS far as I know, it is possible only when you are rooted. Since rooting (with unlocking bootloader) affects the camera quality, which you want to change, i'd go for it.
I am using Camera FV-5 for taking pictures and that is much better than the auto/manual mode on the stock camera and Lapse-it Pro for Timelapse videos.
Anyway, the biggest improvement should be seen, when Android 5.0+ is released with RAW DNG (and Long Exposure), and then we will see the advantage of a 20MP sensor - but probably only with a different camera app than the stock one

Camera app that supports long exposure?

Hello there, I do not like the stock camera app so I did some research on apps that could replace it. But I could not find a single app that supports long exposure(up to 10 seconds, all of them has 1/10 of a second), RAW support and manual ISO. Has anyone found any good camera app that has all these things?
A few options exist depending on your device situation.
Try CAMERA FV-5 or Open Camera.
If you have root and a Exynos, there is a mod in one of the sub-forums of Note 8, and an associated application, that allows you to change the exposure time.
I do wish Samsung gave us more camera control under the 'Pro' settings. This with a proper stabilization grip and quality mobile lenses would allow photography enthusiasts to shine.

Camera Noise Reduction - Remove this awful 'feature'

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd post this as since I've had my S5 (within last 6 months) I have been quite disappointed by the quality of the camera images, particularly in mid to low light. Having had a Xperia Z2, LG G3 and G2 I had seen that the S5 was meant to have by far the best camera out of its peers. Unfortunately, while not as anywhere near as bad as the Z2, the S5 is significantly worse than both the G3 and the G2, mainly due to the awful noise reduction implemented by the Samsung firmware. The Z2 also had this problem in spades, and the only way to remove it was to unlock the bootloader and erase the DRM keys.
I though that this was the same on the S5 (or even completely impossible), but have recently discovered a camera app called 'Snap Camera HDR' in the Play Store. There is a free version and a paid version.
The app is the most fully featured camera app I have seen (I have used Open Camera, Camera FV-5 and many others), with tonnes of options and manual controls.
They key thing though is that it allows you to disable the built in noise-reduction: Go through the menu and select, then deselect the option 'Denoise'
There are also options to select 'Samsung Camera Mode' which enables real-time HDR (you have to select 'Use OpenGLES 2.0' under 'Other'), and you can also increase image sharpness and
change compression levels.
I've done some real world tests and I think the difference is huge. I'd rather have a little bit of noise and keep a sharper, more detailed, more natural image.
Here are some comparisons (I've cropped them down so you can see the detail more easily):
(P.S.: I have absolutely nothing to do with the Snap Camera developers)
Hm, nice find. I'm not sure if I'd need it thought since I'm on the Note 7's camera app. Any idea if the Note's camera app has this problem or not? I'm no picture taking guy so i can't tell by myself. I've barely used my camera during the past 3 years.
PS: The S5's camera was never good in low light, its strength was only during the day
great, great discovery I was propio looking for a good room for lineage 15.1 unofficial, thanks
This also seems to work without root (I have root but the app has never asked for SU permissions). I'm not sure why other camera apps don't have this feature.
Camera FV-5 has several image adjustments (such as saturation and sharpness) but they don't actually seem to work.
I have an AT&T S5 so I'm unfortunately stuck with stock based ROMs. Does anyone know if this heavy handed noise reduction exists on AOSP or other ROMs?
This might actually make me like my S5. I'm looking forward to getting out and taking some decent shots with the phone now!
Here is an example of the highly customisable UI
Also the built in camera of LineageOS 14.1 has the option to disable camera noise reduction.
With this camera you also have the possibility to take pictures in RAW mode without compression and you can also use HDR mode (but without flashlight) :good:

RAW? I didn't think Camera2 was supported on the S5 hardware..? Is the Lineage camera available as an apk?

I don't know if it is RAW but pictures in best quality mode have a very big filesize.

Probably not RAW then. You'd know if it was RAW as you'd have to use a special image viewer and process the photographs afterwards.
I can't install it to test unfortunately as I'm limited to Lollipop.
Resurrecting this.
Tried the app in a hope it would allow me to disable the noise filter on my Galaxy Note 7 LDU. It does. But it also restricts the shutter speed to 1/10th of a second. Unacceptable having up to 10 seconds capability. Overall the app has a hard to use and confusing UI. Users complain that there is no support at all to ask devs for help or features. Ditched it.

Fair enough. I still use it and as far as I'm concerned it's the best camera app for Android. I get what you mean about the UI, but what I like is that you can customise it quite a lot.
You can use the 'gesture' / 'pie' controls, or (as I do) chose to add all the required switches and adjustments as static buttons around the camera edge.

GCam working on the MoTo G7 (Working, portrait, night sight, video,Pano)

Hello Guys.
Today i got a Moto G7 US retail and i decide to look in my archives for a working GCAM version that work in the moto G7 ,this version work perfect except for the slow motion.

The slow mo works with me. go to more than definitions active it and reboot
Night sight works surprisingly well, thanks!
Is there a way to set this as the default camera app ( launching it from the lock screen) ?
Works significantly faster than GCam on my old Nokia 7 Plus, despite having a technically inferior processor. I was expecting it to be much laggier, not faster.
You can't set permission for the app maybe with root
And some mods from magisk
If have tried on this on my new g7 what a great phone
En the gcam is really great thanks guys for making it
I got the Gcam to launch with gestures by going into settings>system>gestures>jump to camera>on then choosing Gcam and then always use. This made Gcam the default when I double tap the power button from any screen as well as when I use the Moto wrist flip. Hope it works as well for you too!
Change slowmo to 120 fps and it will work, default is 240.
I took this with the Night Sight, works pretty well. To my eyes it was almost totally dark.

GCAM is the stock google camera app that comes with the Pixel phones. The one thing that it does really well is to continually take pictures in the background and then stitch them all together when you hit the shutter button. I've been using the GCAM app and it is frickin awesome. I also own a first gen Pixel XL, and pictures with the GCAM app on a Moto 7 power is comparable. The only thing the Pixel XL does better is faster HDR processing.
The GCAM app is far and away much better than the stock camera app.

GCam is Google Camera, it typically is in the app store but doesn't show for our device. Also the modded one has some of the Pixel exclusive features added in.
2 questions:
Moto Z Force...
1. Need to set as default for flip action and can't find it. Searched settings and Moto settings. No such control or flag seems to exist to change default app.
2. Everything seems to work except slow motion, even after setting frame rate to 120 and choosing either 4k or 1080p. App force closes on selection of slow mo.
Any suggestions?
4K Video
All seems to work except 4K video selection? Does not come up with a selection for 4K....
I can clear defaults from my regular camera app, and reset them to gcam (so the double twist or double tap of power button opens gcam). However when gcam is the default, the camera app switches from portrait to lens blur. Is there any real functional difference?
Does SmartBurst work with this? I have a toddler so it helps me to get good pictures of her. It worked a few times but it's like it doesn't work every time.
Has anyone managed to get this or another gcam working on the moto g7 from the lock screen or twist while locked. This gives the "to function properly camera needs your permission" error. Otherwise it seems to work perfectly if the phone is unlocked.

GCam is popular shortname for Android software
Google Camera, by Google LLC.
id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera
Yes, it's in the Google Play Store. However, it's currently only eligible for Google devices, like the Pixel smartphone family. The Store detects device models, or checks lists of devices under your current Google login account, & evaluates if an app is allowed/eligible, & only allows install if so.
(I'm researching it now to evaluate options & if can install on my devices/phones (I want those benefits!). I just recently found out developers have developed app mods/ports, & provided procedures & downloads, so I'm new to GCam for non-Google devices/phones.).
GCam is considered some of the best camera & photo processing software for Android. Most of the high(est?) quality of Google Pixel phone cameras, is because of the software more than the hardware. So the software can potentially benefit any phone camera, where the software can be installed & used (with full or partial functionality of the software, depending on device model & Android version). That is why people want it (perhaps request by feedback to Google to release for more/all Android devices?).
That is why people are listing Android app mods(modifications)/ports/adaptations here, that are made usable (full or partial functionality) on other devices.
These are from 3rd parties other than Google, so not approved & supported by Google. Trustworthiness of these apps can be questionable; this site tends to have more reliable & knowledgeable developers.
To install 3rd party app (app) on Android, at least have to enable in Android Settings to allow install (from sources other than Google Play Store).
Installing the modded/ported apps (app) can be easy/simple to difficult/complicated/technical, depending on the device model & Android version, & how much meets the app (apk) requirements & any extra updates/changes needed.
Some cases can install app directly; other cases may require other installs, even rooting or unlocking the bootloader on the phone or using remote ADB access from a computer (like desktop or laptop).
Appropriate online articles will usually include requirements or procedures.
GCam usually requires a minimum Android version (recent Google version claims needs Android Pie), because requires at least Google Camera 2 API software library/service for Android (which seems included with Android HAL3). Which may be installable on Android version that doesn't have it; some developers have procedures or download apps to install.
To research availability for a device/phone model, search about an app (GCam, or Google Camera), include the device model, & Android; optional terms, install or apk.
Yeah yeah, but it slows the phone DOWN TO A CRAWL, and is therefore USELESS. The photo preview is stuttering too, FORGET it.
Does this also work with the G7 Power?

Question Gcam as standard camera

Hi there.
I am running xiaomi.ru Rom on my Mi 11 Pro and pretty happy with all.
I am using a Gcam mod for taking pictures since I prefer the look.
Is there a way to set the Gcam camera as standard application for camera? I can't select any other camera app in the standard app lists of MIUI.
All the best
Luc
Due to android limitations starting from 12. you can't easily set your camera app as the default anymore.
you might be able to poke around and find a way.
not a helpful answer but to me it does suck that Google took away that option.
