Hi there! I hope you have already heard about Samsung's multi control function allowing to connect your tablet to Galaxy Book2 and use the same keyboard/mouse with both the tablet and the laptop as well as seamlessly transfer files from a laptop to a tablet and vice versa. Has anyone tried it already? Where it can be downloaded? And is it only for Samsung's laptops only?
Here is the video how it works:

I've been looking for a near-perfect solution to mirroring my Samsung note 3 but to no avail. Here's my usage scenario and criteria below:
Usage:
- play various video formats via Diceplayer
- reply to WhatsApp messages
- surf the web
- take notes with Evernote
Criteria:
- TRUE plug-and-play capability after 1 time setup ( there shouldn't be a need to adjust settings after the dongle is inserted into TV)
- no lag/latency problem
- TRUE mirroring capability (WYSIWYG, no limitations on what apps can or cannot be used on my Note 3)
- Big plus if it can also work with my wife's 5S
- Big plus if it is future proof
any suggestion please?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Since you have a Samsung device, I recommend Samsung's AllShare Cast Wireless Hub unless you also have a Samsung TV that supports the function (or upgrading to a Samsung TV with it is an option). I got a new open-box one recently off eBay for about the price of Chromecast.
Basically you plug it into one of your TV's HDMI ports using the supplied slim HDMI cable or your own, plug the supplied MicroUSB cable into the supplied power adapter (or another MicroUSB wall plug that outputs 5V at 450+mA), then switch the TV to that input.
You'll get a screen with some device information and a pairing ID. On your phone/tablet, you go into Screen Mirroring, and when you get the list you long-press on it to use Passkey mode (some devices may support the button mode - mine does not) - plug in the passkey on screen and it pairs. After that when you engage screen mirroring it'll automatically try to reconnect.
(Side note: I believe this is how Chromecast setup should work - requiring a challenge-response that ensures you can see the connected TV...)
As far as performance goes, it feels about the same as Chromecast screen mirroring on my Galaxy S3. AllShare Cast might be a tiny bit faster, but it also seems to slightly affect my WiFi network performance, as WiFi Direct is essentially running an ad-hoc connection to the hub.
Also, you need line-of-sight with the hub. Its WiFi signal is not as powerful/sensitive as a normal WiFi router/AP.
There is a little bit of overscan (edges cut off) that I couldn't figure out how to get rid of. It's not in my TV settigs as my Chromecast is on the same TV input via HDMI switch, so I could see the difference flipping back and forth.
Other than those minor things, I think AllShare Cast works pretty well. If Chromecast screen mirroring didn't work for me, I would be using it. Actually my wife is still using AllShare Cast since her S3 is still on 4.2
Unfortunately I don't think anything's going to work on your wife's 5S, well, nothing except an AppleTV... but I could be wrong.
And as for future proof, there really is no such thing. Especially in the video world. Because almost everything appliance-like is built minimalistically and relies on a hardware decoder, once a new CODEC becomes mainstream, all the old devices get left in the dust.

A Android stick/box with a rockchip processor
-dualcore = rk3066
-quad core = rk3188
-quad core = rk3288
can mirror your device via miracast and you can install apps via the playstore like evernote. You can find it on geekbuying.com or ebay for 50$
ex. Mk908II, CX-919, Minix x7 (it costs 120$ but you get excellent quality and service)

You should have a app called wifidisplay, click on it and set it up
Anybody have a good mirroring suggestion? Got used to SideSync on my S5 and haven't found anything that works for the Pure. Don't even really care if i can control the phone through the PC just mirroring would be good enough. Tried everything from Teamviewer to AirDroid, nothing works. Thanks
Just to be clear you want to see and maybe control the phone from the computer. I use Vysor to do this. It is a Chrome extension and works nice for the couple of devices that I needed.
Thanks but was looking for a wireless route. I wonder if it's just a permissions thing and can somehow get Teamviewer to work? hmmm can't believe this is a hard thing to do now.
Vysor works with adb wifi.
BBQScreen I think it's faster...
I use Reflector 2 to cast my Android screen to my PC. For those of us that have to work with iOS, it works with that too.
does this work with smart TVs too?
I have a Sony Smart TV (non android - 2014 model). I am able to cast the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S5 to my Sony TV either directly through Screen Mirroring (natively supported by S5) or through my home network (to which my S5 as well as my Smart TV connect). This is again done natively without adding any 3rd party software or hardware.
Hi all. I have a problem connecting my ipega BT controller to my note 8. I used this controller with my s8+ without problems but When I connect it to the note8 it connects withoUt problems but doesn't work in the game (tried few games). the only thing that works is volume controls and in the internet browser it can move up and down the page. It seems to me my phone recognizes the controller as a keyboard. Does anyone have any idea What I could do? Thanks
It seems rather difficult to find exactly what I need, especially with the myriad of remote control type apps out there.
I have a Galaxy Tab S hanging in the back seat of my SUV for our toddlers, the tablet is not connected to any internet connection, when I take it into the house I'll download several videos on to the tablet, problem is, to change to another app with other videos requires you to get up out of the seat and reach way back, not only not safe but impractical.
Basically I want a remote controlling/mirroring app so that I can control the tablet from my Galaxy Note 8, perhaps through wifi direct or Bluetooth or something. Also, I CAN do mobile tethering but I would prefer not to l, as I have limited monthly data.
Side Note: My note 8 is not rooted, but the Galaxy Tab S is.
I've never actually tried this, but is there a way to:
Remote Desktop into the Galaxy Note 9?
Force the session to DeX mode?

I'm trying to visualize this. You begin on a windows laptop... display the Remote Desktop of your phone on the laptop... and then... what? Not seeing the last step.
If you ran DeX on the phone, it would show you nothing except the phone's "desktop" which would be what the phone shows, not what DeX is showing on any laptop. In addition, DeX would want to project onto your laptop, which would mean you'd have DeX running (I guess?) alongside the phone's display on your laptop.
I project my Mac laptop screen to a Roku Ultra and from there to our old TV set. I can then run DeX on my laptop via the phone and it projects onto our TV via the Roku since it is displaying on the laptop. But all this is only showing you that I, too, find esoteric (and fun) ideas to try out. I've not once used my Roku/TV to do any work via DeX. A bit cumbersome...
Forgive me if I've missed your purpose.

On Windows 10 (for instance):
Open Remote Desktop
Type in your phone's login credientials
You're logged into your phone. Instead of actually seeing your phone within your Remote Desktop session, you see your phone in DeX mode. THAT'S what I'm looking for. Essentially, DeX for PC without having to use Dex for PC since it doesn't support wireless.
Is that possible at this time?

But your phone in DeX mode shows.... nothing. Because DeX only "shows itself" on the laptop where the DeX app for Windows/OSX is running. The phone serves DeX to the laptop. So... you'd see nothing except the phone. Which shows you nothing. The snag being that handshake - which requires at present a usb connection - between DeX served up by the phone and DeX being connected to via the DeX app on the laptop.
And I hope I'm wrong, because it would be really cool if you somehow were able to get a DeX session wirelessly before UI 2.5 even comes out.
above msg
i do belive hes refering to getting the note 9 into wireless dex
Yup. He's pretty much asking for Wireless DeX.
It'll be out with OneUI 2.5 (hopefully, if they dont choose to trim the firmware from features), in about 2 weeks tops. And it'll require the Dex app installed on Windows, it definitely wont work with RDP.
Edit: and i assume it'll work only locally on the network.

Yep I'm pretty much asking for Wireless DeX, you're right...but with a different approach, since the PC app requires a physical connection. I didn't know if there potentially was a way to force a DeX session if you attempted to connect to your phone through RDP. It would be neat if that were possible. I do know about One UI 2.5 so I guess I'll just have to wait. It does look like it's coming to the Note 9 sometime in October.

Well, that's the point of Wireless DeX, it wont require a physical connection with a USB cable, just both devices being on the same network.
