My Nexus 6 was on Android N. Then I rooted it using twrp to install supersu 2.71. This afternoon, I got a notification for Android N update ota, and I allowed it. It downloaded the software and boot up into twrp. What I am supposed to do next? I tried to reboot, but it always came back to twrp. This is my first rooted phone and I have no idea what is going on. Please help!!!
In twrp, I tried to Restore to the mashmallow back up (MOB30I), but it failed.

Reboot to bootloader in TWRP then reboot from there. This will end the loop.
Thank you for your response. I reboot into bootloader , then select :"power off". But when I turn on phone, it came back to twrp. I reboot back to bootloader, then select "start". It boot up to twrp again. Anything else I can try?
I tried again, reboot into bootloader and then select start again. It went through the same process, but it was able to boot again. Now I got notification of system update, like before. I need to unroot it to allow for android N update?
Thank you. You are a life saver.

Installing a stock N recovery in fastboot should be enough to allow you to take the update. You will likely need to install TWRP and then root again afterward.
Thank you Durgis. Can I have more instruction on how to install stock N recovery in fastboot. I guess have to download file for stock N recovery, boot the phone to bootloader, then use some command to install it.
ok.. you CAN NOT install an ota via twrp recovery. you have to have stock recovery if you want to install an ota, period. next time, search and read.
Could he use flashfire to update to the new N he's being asked to install?

no idea
I know I use it to flash the monthly updates.
twrp cant flash updates, you neef the stock recovery for that. seems as you wiped your phones rom off the phone. so, youre going to have to push a rom to your phone and flash it.

Hi converge12, I completed registration in this forum only to say you thank you.
Go to TWRP then select restart as "bootloader" and select start to go into system.
I get my phone with 3.5.4 version.
I want to install 4.0.1 clean = wipe all data.
without rooting and custom recovery.
How can I do that? in official OP site I didnt found the stable version for download.
Take here the full rom
Take the full rom, boot to recovery and load the zip via adb sideload ... thats it.

Nope. Just sideload in ADB.
EDIT: Wait, in another thread you're bashing this phone and say you haven't bought it.
I ordered this phone and got it in 5-10 days.

If you receive your phone, boot it to recovery on first start, and sideload 4.0.1 full(!) ota. Or fire up your phone wirh whatever is installed, go through firsttime setup, go to Settings->System Updates and allow the os to update. Your question suggests, that the latter method is for you.

First, you need to use this tool to unlock bootloader. It will clean all your data.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/development/toolkit-oneplus-3t-toolkit-unlock-t3507729
Then,Install OxygenOS 4.0.1 with Stock recovery

Good luck! : )

If stock means completly stock, as if it would come with 4.0.1 out of the box, this will not work! If you use any of my suggestwd methods, myou will be stock, with stock recovery and still locked bootloader.
@napetost's method will work - but it's "only" stock rom - not stock phone. It's up to you, tomdecide what you want. If you want to root your phone anyway, I would go with his method.

Has anyone actually succeeded with it (installing it in stock recovery through adb? Tried all sorts of full rom versions and many adb versions and the best I got was reaching 47% of load. Some adb versions simply do not read the file (.zip ROM)..
On RR want to go to oos 4.0.1 downloaded full rom side loaded when complete and rebooting says no os installed
How I can do clean install?
I want format my phone completely and installing 4.0.1... NO OTA

I prefer to download the full zip, copy it to the phone and then go to Settings > System Updates > Cog Icon in the top Right > Local Upgrade > Select the copied zip.
After installing the OS go to Settings again and this time do a factory reset. Don't forget to select Erase Internal Storage if you want a full wipe.
After that, you're done. No need to mess with recovery mode and ADB sideload.

Which one do you recommend? At which point do I have to install it and then I don't need to install no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0?
EDIT: I think I finally got it. I did it like this:
1. Ok, so the phone as a fresh 8.1.0 system (just flashed the 7.0 and then it updated OTA in a matter of minutes). I enter the phone, enable the developer mode, enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debug.
2. Then I put the phone on download mode, flash the TWRP recovery disabling the auto-reboot on Odin so it doesn't boot to system automatically. This seem important since otherwise the recovery goes back to stock.
3. Then, to get out of download mode I press vol. down and power keys at the same time and the phone turn off. Then I turn on the phone into recovery mode, once in there I swipe into write mode and go to Wipe and select Format Data, type down yes and it says it's done. I go back to TWRP main menu.
4. I connect the cellphone to the PC and in storage I select Mount USB. Then drag the Magisk-v18.0.zip file into the storage that pops up on Windows. Then I saftely remove the device in Windows and go back to the main TWRP menu on the phone. I select Install and install the .zip file without selecting Signature verification or Reboot after is complete. It says is done installing and no errors seems to occur. I employ the button to wipe Cache and Dalvik.
5. I go back again o Wipe and select Format Data, type down yes and it says it's done, again.
5. Then I try to reboot to System, and choose to Do Not Install the TWRP app, and... SUCCESS!! The phone starts again, I config everything and then Magisk is there in the apps. I tried with an app that requires SU and it works!
Thanks for the help.

That's the way I have done it. But if you go on Z3X, select the device (SM-G610M), and you perform some activity like repair IMEI, Z3X detects the root, but it does not detect the Super User.
This Guide Can Also Be Used For Unlocking & Relocking Bootloader, Installing TWRP & Rooting
If Any Ota Messes With The Implementation Then Whole Procedure Needs To Be Redone
To mitigate the problem requesting developers for making a hack for Relocking Bootloader Without Wiping Data PM me if Interested
Data Will Be Wiped So Make Backup First
What Will We Be Doing: Unlocking Bootloader, Installing TWRP,Flashing Camera2api Enabler, Installing Back Stock Recovery, Relocking Bootloader
Procedure:
1. Download this rar and you'll get 2 folders namely unlock and ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows
2. Install the drivers according to your OS (happens Automatically In Most Cases) and open the unlock folder
3. Reboot your phone to fastboot mode by pressing volume up + power on at the same time.
4. Connect it to pc and open unlock.bat in unlock folder
5. Long Press Power Button & Reboot. A wiping Data screen will appear followed by an encrypting sceen then the phone will reboot (A warning of unlocked bootloader will show up initially)& then the initial setup screen will show up don't add any thing & skip the setup(there will be another wipe).
6. Download Cam2Api & copy it to sd card or internal storage of phone. Then switch off the phone once again & reboot in fastboot mode once more.
7. Download TWRP from here & Install Minimal ADB to root of C drive.
8. Copy the twrp to the adb folder in your C drive.
9. Open the 'cmd-here.exe' the adb window will open
10. With the phone connected in fastboot mode type in adb "fastboot flash recovery twrpasus.img" & press enter then type "fastboot boot twrpasus.img" & hit enter.
11. Switch Off the phone & boot in twrp by pressing vol down+power, opening TWRP will take time
12. A decryption popup will open in twrp skip it.
13. Select Install Zip & slect the storage where you have kept the cam2api.zip & flash it, then select reboot system.
14. Download Gcam from here (Arnova v8 is best) & copy it to phone and install it, check if it works, dont configure it. Reboot your phone to fastboot mode
15. Download stock asus recovery from here & copy it to the adb folder.
16. Again open the adb & type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
17. Download Zenfone_Max_M1_Pro_Relock.zip and extract it.
18. Open the directory where you extracted the file
19. In that directory, open a file named relock_bl.cmd
20. A Command (CMD) prompt will do the rest of the work for you.
Let the phone restart.
21. It will then erase all the data on your phone once again (excluding Micro SD card).
23. Reboot
22. Now the phone won’t show the “bootloader unlocked” warning that was displayed after you unlocked the bootloader. Now setup the phone and install the Gcam downloaded earlier also all manual camera apps will work fine too.
Done! You Have Successfully Relocked Bootloader & Enabled Camera 2 api in stock rom. As the bootloader is locked & we have'nt rotted our phone you have your warranty and ota updates work well. If any kind of future ota breaks the camera2api then you have to redo the procedure once again.
Installing Magisk Or SuperSU while twrp is installed will root your phone (breaks ota updates though)

You need to uninstall the drivers & redo the process most times we dont need to manually install the drivers. We install drivers only if flashing doesnt occur(you did the opposite) after installing twrp make sure to clear data(factory reset through it)

Thats why its called root/unroot. Root when you need to add a mod or change something then unroot when you are done

Hi,
Will this method of rooting/unrooting trip Knox and void my warranty? If so, is there any way of rooting my S7 G935V Edge without tripping Knox?
Thanks

Currently, I'm pretty sure it is virtually impossible for yout to trip your knox counter by rooting as far as I'm aware the only way to do so would mean you need to unlock your bootloader which cannot be done. Rooting your device will however disable safetynet and knox features such as but not limitted to android/samsung pay ect. This is why it's called east root/unroot though because once you unroot and if you didn't delete knox/google apps, it all should still work. The point of this is of course, so you can modify your phone with ease, then unroot and everything should work properly.
There is a major difference between rooting and unlocking the bootloader.
Just don't do something like attempt to install a custom ASOP rom or kernel that isn't supported by this device since it requires an unloocked bootloader.
I'm so glad I read everything before jumping into anything right away. Haha Verizon and Smart Switch are trying to get me to accept the new update to the V8 as we speak. It's funny how they always seem to have updates when someone like Jrkruse figures out how to let us actually do what we want with our devices. I have learned always read read read before doing anything to any phone unless you want to take an update meant to stop us from doing anything fun with the phones. Good job sir!!

Hello, when attempting to unroot using the supersu app, when i hit Full Unroot in the Cleanup section, the popup window warning about the unroot only has a selection of "OK" when I select that, nothing happens.
Also, the S7E root_unroot_abd_tools.z7 does not have a setup.exe that I saw, I am looking to unroot my phone that I followed the instructions for the S7_Oreo_Nougat_Adb_Advanced_Root_V11.zip method that you ended up moving that thread here.

Did you download the stuff from this OP
As per the instructions you use the root control app not the supersu app in the root control app under phone settings there is an unroot tab

I downloaded the files for unrooting my s7 edge oreoof this OP, and I downloaded the file for step 3 in the unrooting section of this OP.
The zip named S7_S7E_ROOT_UNROOT_ADB_TOOLS.7z that I received from this OP did not contain a setup.exe as well.
The actual root file and process I followed was from https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616

I know I'm asking this in two places now... but how do I prevent this? Which firmware version do I *NOT* Update to?
I've finally summoned the courage to upgrade to oreo with the advances in TWRP and such... so I'm assuming I have to flash to stock Oreo....... but which version is the one before v8?
How do I check my version of BL?

Easiest way... Settings>about phone>software info. Look at build number and baseband version. Count back 5 digits. Will either be a 2, 4, or 8
So if I install this U firmware G935UUES4CRH2 I should still be good to root correct? Also, is there any difference between the U firmware and the Latest non V8 Verizon firmware, other than maybe the Verizon bloat? I am running my phone on Verizon just wanted to see if there a difference between the two?
