Ok, I have a question which probably wasn't asked for a while, as aerlink wasn't updated for a while, but maybe someone can still help me.
My wife has an android tab, an iPhone and a zenwatch 3. Android wear 2 standalone apps don't really cut it, so I tried to connect the watch via the old aerlink way, so she can have apps via the tab and her messages from the phone.
This solution doesn't work and I was ready to blame it on aerlink not being supported on aw 2. Out of fun, I still tried the same with my huawei watch 2 and here it works perfectly. Why is that the case?
For the facts: Tablet is on Android 6, iPhone 7 on 11.1. Huawei and Zen watch are both on 2.7 or Android 7.1.1 and the only difference is the security patch (Huawei is newer). Aerlink fails to connect to the iPhone from the zenwatch (constantly changes from connecting to disconnected) , while with Huawei it works directly.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason why it works on one aw2 watch and on the second not? Is there any alternative to use, which has the same effect? Thanks in advance.
Hello.
I recently purchased a P30 Pro 512GB (Model VOG-L29 Build Number: 9.1.0.124(C431E4R2P2) GPU Turbo) and wished to try some games using a physical game controller.
As I had a PS3 game controller and an OTG cable I thought that would be an easy (and cheap) solution. I understand that I wouldn't be able to connect via bluetooth without root, but I should be able to use it via cable?
However only half of the pad works (left analogue and a couple shoulder buttons), I installed Game Controller KeyMapper from the play store to check and it appears that every other button is returning Key Pressed = 0
I unplugged the cable and tried this setup on my Huawei P10 Plus and it worked perfectly.
Could anyone suggest reasons for this issue and possible work around?

HI I was wondering if you ever found how to make your controller work? I m having the same problem on a honor 8x, it used to work perfectly and recently only my left joystick seems to respond
Have you guys found a fix for this problem? I have the same problem like you on my Mate 20 Pro. My Ps3 controller works on any phone except my phone.
Asus recently provide software update for Armory Crate – Added AirTrigger, Key-mapping and macro customization options.
Since key mapping feature is only available to asus accessories, personally i have Gamesir g5 controller & tried to work it out but they have disabled that feature.
Please someone look into it & provide mod to enable keymapping for any controller.
+100 on this as i too use other controllers like the GameSir and the FlyDigi
I am in no way capable of helping but I understand some of the inner workings and what you ask may not be as simple as "ticking off" a box. If ASUS is smart about it, they would probably activate mapping capabilities only when recognizing their own manufactured Hardware IDs, meaning that you'd either manually code-in generic or specific IDs to the software and hope it behaves accordingly OR spoof a device to make it seem like it's ASUS hardware. Either way, it would be either very complicated or specific to users depending on the hardware that is being used.
Not impossible, just something that is not likely to come anytime soon, if ever. I, for one, will simply buy the Kunai when it becomes available for purchase. I expect progress may happen when developers have the Kunai to better understand what "ticks".
I want this as much as the next guy but yeah, it's going to take a long while at best. (in my opinion)
How about key mapping for keyboard and mouse?
Is that also locked to ASUS keyboard and mouse?

So I tried something... Using one of those universal USB-C HDMI-Out + USBx2 adapters, I tried to see if I could map KB+M and nope. They get recognized as normal in the OS but ASUS does not unlock mapping features. But to my surprise, the video and audio out also does not work which showcased, for the first time, a notable difference with the RoG 2 vs the many MANY Android devices out there. I now assume Video out through USB is locked behind the orange USB-C port. Meaning that the feature, usually stock on most modern Android device, can only be done through buying ASUS's proprietary accessories.
I'd assume that the KB+M mapping is unlocked when you have that ASUS PC dock and that without it, that feature will not be achievable.
So I decided I was going to risk my device for the sake of knowledge but to my surprise, I also noticed for the first time that ASUS made a notch and won't let you plug in a cable in the port therefore securing it only for ASUS accessories.
The way I see this, ASUS probably carefully redirected specific features onto the logic board so that these features pass only and exclusively through the orange USB-C cable which, by removing bandwidth, would also guarantee a better experience than most devices. I'm debating if I want to get rid of that notch that prevent the use of the orange USB-C....

Do it for science! Also, instead of modifying the port, could you alternatively modify a usb cable plug end?
I am using a generic keyboard and mouse and I am not able to map the keys for the mouse.
I was able to map the direction keys for the keyboard.
I can move around with the mouse but was not able to make use of the left and right mouse buttons.

Any updates on this?
Do we really have to use an Asus keyboard and Asus mouse to get key mapping to work?

You do not need to use an Asus Kb/M just an accessory that is licensed by Asus for the ROG Phone such as the, Mobile Desktop Dock, Professional Dock, Gamevice (For ROG phone 1), Kunai Gamepad (For ROG phone 2). These are the only products needed to unlock key mapping so for example if you have the Mobile Desktop Dock you can then use any Kb/M with it for your key mapping functionality.

none of these are sold anywhere anymore not even a used second hand one anywhere Asus has stopped production This is also a problem
I guess the dock authenticates somehow to the phone, maybe the phone only looks at the name of the device or it's something way more complicated.
I don't have a compatible dock but I wonder if listening with a logic analyzer on the USB interface might work to catch the handshake…
Hi guys, so I was looking for some controllers for my Tencent Rog II because the Kunai is not out yet. I ended up buying Beboncool Saitake 7007x gamepad and Flydigi Wasp 2 gamepad. Both of these gamepads worked well with my Pocophone F1, but when I use them on ROG II, the phone see them as mouses not a controller, I can map my keys but when I press the buttons nothing happen. I also enabled USB Debugging before connect them. Does anyone have the same issue? I did googled a bit and someone said you need to have root, still, no straight answer.
Any advices will be much appreciated
Thank you for reading :fingers-crossed:
Won't work. I'm not sure if it has to do with Asus game genie but any 3rd party control that uses an overlay will not work. Unless I'm missing something in my tests it does not register at all.
Choose classic mode
I have tried a Flydigi wee2, wee2T and Apex. They all do NOT WORK on the ROG phone 2 while working fine on other phones including the ROG 1.
It just makes a mouse cursor appear and is calibrated wrong too of where it touches.
If we can figure out how to disable mouse mode for the ROG phone 2, then maybe we can get these to work.
They can only work in native based controller games that have support baked in aka classic/native mode. They do not work in games that will need mapping aka flashplay mode. So in other words we can play NO games that need to be mapped with these controllers.
We need a fix from Flydigi or ASUS. if not we are s**t out of luck and have to figure something ourselves.

Yes this is the solution - use classic setting after activation you may need to restart the gamepad as well - sometimes i have problems detecting the gamepad properly a phone restart will require by then also make sure your airtriggers are off so the program wont be confused this will cause issue on flydigi app.
Is there a way to switch to classic mode without having to wipe on ww?

Only the wasp 2 fit the ROG II even with a case on. The saitake sadly will not fit nor work
I using APEX flydigi and success play with key map. First you must select classic mode then use the dongle provide by flydigi, plug-in the dongle to the power adapter then connect the dongle to the asus rog phone 2. Finish setup using dongle, you can pull out the dongle from the phone and start to key map..
And this works 100%? Does classic mode disable air triggers? Me people say it's just a theme.

Hi, i just bought the Mi 9 Lite 2 months ago and in my experience, everything is as good as i expected. But there's just a teeny tiny bit of problem: My last phone is an OPPO F9 using ColorOS 6, and i usually play emulated game on it with a USB joystick (somewhat crappy but usable).
I bought a OTG cable, one side to connect the controller and one for the phone and it worked well right away without using any additional third-party apps.
But now when i try to do the same with the Mi 9 Lite it just won't work, there's lights on but no input can be made. I tried to figure it out on youtube, google and downloaded some third-party apps, all of them didn't work for me. It seems to be MIUI problem with the UBS Joystick?
I'm pretty much dumbfounded, looking for help right here, hope i won't have to throw my controller into the trashcan (at least i still have my ps4 controller which still works with bluetooth, just not the crappy USB joystick)

I tried connecting a USB xbox360 Joystick on my mi 9 lite and it didn't work. But PS4 via Bluetooth worked fine. I think that it must be kernel related. If you are rooted with magisk, you can try to install a module that supposedly, it adds support for all other controllers. I tried to on my old phone (Samsung Galaxy J3) and unfortunately it didn't work. But you can try anyway
I have a similar problem i kinda know why ist not working and have no solution. So when i first bought my phone i used my f710 it was working perfectly after i think upgrading miui 11 my f710 stops working it doenst even respond in any app but when i try to use it with steam remote play app Steam asked for permission to acces usb device(like asking permission for your storage or camera etc.) i granted and it was working perfectly again but only in steam remote play. So the issue is the other apps games or emulator doesnt even ask for permission and gamepad doesnt work.
Hello guys i Found the solution!
Go to settings and found miui press 5 times and become developer, then go to developer options and disable miui optimization DONE. Then will ask for permission when you connect controller.Connect usb otg adapter and controller will work (my controller is torid speedlink)
