Can someone help me how come every so often I place press call after entering a number there can be a delay of 5 to 30 seconds where nothing happens. Or of I push the name of a recent call it has the same delay. If I push it many times sometimes it will continue placing new calls while I'm already called. I'm running Sprint 2.1 official. Thanks
you probably don't have very good service where you are, unless you deny that statement.
Only hit it once and you'll only make one call.
Sprint's rom is ridiculously slow and laggy.
More peopel could probably help you out with specific problems with sprint's rom on sprintforums.com or somewhere like that. NOT that we don't want to help, but problems often have different levels of depth, if you know what I mean. Or root and get ever CRAZIER problems and then stick around here!

thanks, but i think its the phone, because now when I click the green button the phone comes up immediately but nothing on the screen works. Its almost like clicking an image no beeps nothing.
Below is more detail of my problem
Can someone help me. How come every so often I try to place a call their is a long delay.
For example I will push the green call button to bring up the phone. Then I will click on a name from my recently used numbers and I will click the number I want to call and it will highlight then nothing. After 10 to 15 seconds does it vibrate and place the call and go to the screen with the timer and the end button. If I get impatient and keep pressing the number (selection goes green for a second) nothing happens for 10 to 15 seconds then the call is placed and it will continue dialing, holding, and conference call as I try to talk to that person.
This delay also happens when I dial a number, and the number keypad is slightly sluggish when dialing.
Please note I a running Sprint Official OS2.1 and even though the Phone Application is sluggish outside phone mode the device seems to run when when using other internet. I am also getting strong bars and EV.
I would really appreciate your help; I just got this phone 2 days ago and really like it, but this one fault is killing it for me.
Please Help me.
Thanks
please somebody help me other than that i really like this phone.

Since you are not rooted and not running a custom ROM, this is probably not the best place to ask for help. You should call Sprint directly or check out the website/forum listed above.....
This lag is common on this particular phone. Just look at all the threads about dialer lag. 2.1 made the dialer lag even worse IMO. A custom ROM may or may not fix it for you.
i'm run Aloysius and Darchdroid I have the lag too. I dont know the problem i just wait.
i run DC and its laggy too... i bet its the dialer app...
that huge delay in actually dialing the number is an issue with all of the ROM's based on the official 2.1 (and the last leak as well I believe). No idea why it happens, but I hope a dev manages to figure out how to fix it soon, because it's the biggest annoyance for me
lag everywhere
i agree, the dialing lag is very annoying. also I have issues when im using the web browser while trying to tap on the url bar or in a search field the phone just hangs and doesn't bring up the keyboard.
while my buddie is already looking at a web page or search results on his very responsive palm pre webos im stuck waiting swearing at my phone lol.
But given all the things you can do to androids compaired to webos ill take the lag.
It was so bad for me that I took my phone into a sprint store and showed them how f'ed up it was. They said that it was happening a lot...evidently they have an internal forum where these issues get posted and the tech I talked to at the store said he saw a ton of posts referencing this same issue. They told me, however, that my phone passed diagnostics and that I could make and receive calls, to which I responded, "sure, I can make calls, but it barely functions as a phone." They sent me on my way, and I figured that was that until I got a text 2 days later saying that my replacement phone was in.
When I went to pick it up, the store rep said, "We'll have to reload the update for you" and I told him not to bother. Whatever issues 1.5 had, they were better than the enourmous issues with 2.1. Of course, as soon as I got it home, I rooted it (the 2.1 root came out the next day) and had 2.1 running quick as a fox anyway.
I have had the same issue, but have discovered one important thing by looking at the logs and just observing... This does not happen when using WiFi. I have a log showing that this problem is related to turning the radio off in order to make the call. For those who do not know, this is unique to CDMA in that it cannot use both data and voice at the same time. For some reason it is taking forever to turn data off in order to make the call. This has been reported to Flipz and he is looking into it, but until then I guess you just have to put up with it or go back to a 1.5 rom.
For those to say that the problem doesn't exist on rooted phones or that he should go somewhere else is not giving any good advise.
I have been rooted for several months and never really had any problems with an extremely long delay until recently. . I know if I am rebooting my phone I have to wait a little bit to do anything, even after Sense has finished loading or i will have the same problem. I'm sure you were not rebooting your phone when this happened.
Here was my experience 2 days ago...
I tried making a call and pressed on the contacts name. It was just sitting there. After 20 seconds it still wasn't calling, so I pressed the name again and after 15 more seconds it began calling the person. And then it started dialing again. I hit End Call and attempted to do it again. I had the same problem. I then rebooted my phone and waited 5 minutes and tried again and had the same results. In between pressing the contact and the phone actually calling it just sat on the contact screen. I have had the same ROM running on my phone for 3 weeks and this was the first problem I had like this.
At first I thought it was with Sprint, but it should have atleast gone to the calling screen and said dialing if it was even attempting to call.
If you have had this problem was it just stuck on the dialer/contact screen or was it on the screen that says dialing/calling?
It gets stuck on the dialer/contact screen. I had this problem slightly with 1.5, but it is far worse in 2.1 including all official 2.1-based roms. The problem is present in all 2.1 based versions of Fresh and Fresh Toast.
I had this problem on every 2.1 ROM. It went away with Fresh Toast and the 710 Kernel. Now the most lagg I get on the dialer is between 1 or 2 seconds. Before it could be 10 seconds before the call placed. I am extremely happy with that overclocked ROM. Try it out if you want.
I'm not a noob by any means. I've done all the normal troubleshooting. I've looked for other similar topics and none exist for this phone. I've tried everything that I can think. Having said that, please excuse me if i missed anything.
Basically, my issue is that I can't accept 95% of my incoming calls. I try to.... And the call hangs up when I press answer. I have the regular stock google dialer. I'm stock but rooted and unencrypted. I realize this may have to do with LTE still being on and not H+ but it's really annoying. It does switch to H+ but still hangs up.
I tried a few custom ROMs and the issue still exists. I've ensured that notifications are checked in the dialer app.
Someone please help me. Maybe I'm missing something simple. It's really annoying not being able to accept a call and having to call people back for every call received.
Please and thanks
And now I've officially tried EVERY ROM for this phone and still.... Can't answer incoming calls. Ugh. Someone please help
Have you tried updating your radio? Have you tried setting your phone in non-LTE so at most it only utilizes H+/H/3G?
Have you cleared cache and tried it in safe mode?
@zephiK thank you for the ideas. Flashed the new radio from your thread... Issue still persists. I haven't gone to just 3g yet because I use my phone a lot for work (law enforcement) and need the LTE speed when identifying people
Edit: tried using 3g and 2g anyways.... Still hangs up whenever I answer incoming calls. Ugh

I have cleared both cache and dalvik cache. I can't get safe mode to work..... I'm using liquid smooth at the moment and when holding power off it doesn't show the option for safe mode
Well I figured out holding reboot gives the safe boot option. My phone bootlooped. I'm going to have to totally undo everything on my phone. Lock and unroot my phone. Then I'll start over using only stock without unlocking or rooting first then continue this trouble shoot.
If anyone can think of anything else please let me know thank you and merry Christmas
I had the same issue with mine. I thought I was going crazy. Hope you get it worked out. I sent mine back to Motorola yesterday for a refund.
Sent from my iPhone 6 Plus using Tapatalk
Update : Solved....
I wiped everything and started over. I flashed stock and went into safe mode. Calls worked. So it was easy to figure out... It was a downloaded app. A call blocker that was blocking everything instead of just the calls it was supposed to.
Thank you to those who offered opinions, suggestions, and comments
I had the same issue with the N5 on att. Was rooted and used a tool that opened a Sprint "only" service menu. Played with a setting and boom, i had voice. Data worked no problem throughout this ordeal.
Have the same problem with a Nexus 6, suddenly the phone did not show up any incoming call screen/window or way to slide out to answer an incoming call. It rings but there is not way to answer the call, even trying to go to the task bar and see if there is a window up there to answer it, no notification or window to press and answer.
This phone is not rooted nor have an application to block calls. it is with lollipop 5.01.
Any ways to solve this horrible bug? This bug is driving me nuts.
I'm having random restarts with the s21 ultra, seems the phone is having an error in the background and restarts to avoid freezing or something.
I checked all the auto-restart options are off. The restarts really happen randomly, sometimes im watching a youtube video, sometimes chatting on whatsapp, and it happens almost once/twice a week.
But what i noticed lately, mostly its when an app is using the camera. Sometimes i try to launch the stock camera app and it doesn't launch (writes a quick note that its unable or something) and the phone reboots.
Any solution of what to do? I keep entering the members app after the phone restarted and send the crash log to Samsung but until now I have the same problem and no fix.
Its really unacceptable, i have paid alot for this phone, i got the 512GB with 16GB ram and in the end the phone crashes when opening the stock camera app. Really will never buy Samsung ever again
First, you need to track down the source of the problem.
I wouldn't even let WhatsApp run on my phone... it's nothing but trouble.
Try clearing the system cache.
Clear cam data.
Because it's rebooting you can't see what was running/cache last.
This is abnormal behavior and may indicate malware.
Look at 3rd party apps you have installed for starters.

Where can he go to see what apps caused the crash -- isn't there something in the Android system that allows him to see that?

Do a return/RMA before time runs out? It could be a hardware issue.

If it hadn't rebooted it would show as a running or cache app in Device Care or Developer options.
After reboot that's all cleared pretty sure the cache is too but you can double check.

I would try to get the device replaced by Samsung as soon as possible if I had the option rather than trying to troubleshoot it. This is abnormal behaviour, maybe software, maybe hardware but if I can get the device replaced, I'd choose that as the first option.
I had a similar issue with my brand new HTC Desire S (ages ago) and foolishly tried to solve the problem by trying software hacks, almost tripped the security flag and missed the DOA claim window trying to sort it out myself. Fortunately came to my senses and took it to the service centre and got a replacement on the same day.
If that's not an option for you, then we can all huddle together here and try to figure this out.
And by the way, don't hate on Samsung because your device isn't performing well. Sometimes this happens with complex electronic devices. That's what the warranty is for. If they don't honour the warranty, then we can all swear at them with abandon. Calm down and contact the service centre.
Be mad at Samsung for many things. Not this. Their QA isn't that bad and also head-to-head with Apple's, statistically speaking. Wait till you see what Pixels have been doing, LOL.

It may be hardware or firmware. Or completely self inflicted.
If you can return it, I would do so.
When buying an Android always go for one with an SD card slot; use it as the data drive and the OS/apps go on the internal memory. Makes life and reloads much easier... and faster.
I always build my computers with data drives, even did it with my laptop. Among other things it helps to protect your data. In almost all OS crash and burns, the data drives remain intact. Nonetheless you back up the data drives to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other.

I am not really sure what their warranty policy in KSA is. Will go to them in person and check what they will offer after making a backup of my data. But I expect they do not allow to get replacement (i have the device since about 4 months now) but this problem was not happening the first 2-3 months. But i haven't installed a single new application (so we cant say it may be a new 3rd party app)

I do not have many 3rd party apps for starters (less than 20) and i have the same exact apps on my other honor 10 phone which dont have this problem at all, so i believe its not from a 3rd party app.
Clearing cache and cam data are the first things ive done, and the same issue reoccurs.
Im posting this not for *****in but for users to give me ideas of what to do since im frustrated and i have done all the 'quick fixes' i could think of with no success.
If there is a way i can view the crash log, then that might be helpful...

Only way to be certain is to ask them I guess.
Do you get the standard 1 year warranty in KSA? Or is it different?
I don't think there is any harm in asking. if they can diagnose the issue, they may be able to repair it at least, if not give you a replacement.

We get 24 months warranty by samsung here, but I am not sure if they allow replacements in their warranty. I've had previous bad experience where they kept trying to 'repair' the device and same problem came again (long time ago- over 5 years so maybe things have changed).

Wow! That's double the warranty coverage offered to us here in India.
If you think it's a software issue, and don't think Samsung will be of much help, then start with a factory reset. If that doesnt solve it, clean flash fresh firmware. If still no joy, then mostly it's going to be a hardware issue. Whatever you do, don't root or trip the e-fuse in any way if you want to have any hopes of claiming warranty in the future.
Hey
I also had this problem.. My phone would keep restarting while watching any type of video and/or using any app that used the camera. The phone screen would almost become "glitchy" with green lines and restart.
I even had an official Samsung partner come repair my phone at my home. He replaced the motherboard and the battery, but sadly this didn't fix the problem.
Lucky I was still within my 14 days with my phone network to get it replaced.

t's all because the device used is problematic or the application has an error?
Hi all !
I'm a retired recording engineer from eastern Québec, Canada, enjoying retirement and keeping busy buildingand fixing audio equipment and restoring vintage British motorcycles.
I'm having a very strange problem with my Moto G5 (not Plus) that started out of the bue earlier this week. When the phone is locked, be it after locking it manually or after exceeding the preset time, and I receive a call, I do not get the phone logo on the screen anymore. If I want to take the call, the screen remains dark and I can't simply swipe it. I need to press the "start-stop" button, then a white box appears telling me who is calling and the padlock appears at the bottom of the screen. Then I have to trace the security pattern and the phone app appears, but on the in-out call screen instead of showing the button that would allow me to take the call. Instead I have to swipe down in order to get the box that allows me to take the call or reject it. I did countless Google searches and went through all the settings but I couldn't find any mention of that problem. The weird thing is that the phone was working perfectly one night, and then the following morning I had that problem. Can anyone help ?
Welcome to XDA
Was the phone updated overnight?
Clear the system cache if possible on this model.
Try in safe mode to help rule out 3rd party app interference.
It could possibly be a virus, rootkit or the hidden users settings have been corrupted.
The rom itself may have been corrupted, not necessarily anything nefarious... maybe just a high energy particle that flipped a flash memory cell read state. Atomic particles playing god, I hate that
Worse case solutions, factory reset, if that doesn't work reflash last known good firmware.
If all that fails it's likely a hardware failure but this is probably the least likely cause.
Hi !
Thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell there is no recent update. I tried everything you suggested except the factory reset because I dread reinstalling all the apps, but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. Hoping it's not one of those pretentious atomic particles... ;-)

Try disabling the lock screen etc. Go back to where it needed no password to use.
That's the first thing I tried, no luck... :-(

I'm not familiar with that phone.
In general, try clearing the system cache.
I don't like messing with the phone app data but... first backup your contacts then start clearing data in the associated phone apps.
If a hidden user setting has been toggled it may be very hard to find/correct unless you know how. A factory reset would do so.
If that fails the firmware has become corrupted and needs to be reflashed.
If all that fails it's likely a hardware failure, either the mobo or possibly the C port PCB.
A C port pcb failure can do strange things on a Samsung like loss of internet/phone connection. I bring up the C port pcb because they get a lot of wear and tear... and they're a lot cheaper than a mobo.
i need some help and i do not know where to go.i think my ex is in my phone. my phone will randomly shut off on its own. certain settings that i have turned off will turn back on by themselves. bank apps and social media apps will be signed out when i wake up in the morning. one time i found a video with my pictures and it was a video of me sleeping. video was all black so all you heard was me sleeping. deleted photos that has been deleted for quite some time re appear and there always pictures of me and him. my son also requested my data from facebook and there was a device listed that was name OnePlus which i have never heard of. Also i decided to grab an older phone of mine to use. i signed into snapchat account on my older phone and it did not log me out of note 8. both phones were active at the same time with the same account which i know should not be possible. i also get a ton of random texts from fake email address or numbers and the message is always some obscure message with a bunch of symbols and numbers. and they always come in right when i leave my house or when i am out and about. also every now and than i can be using my phone and right when im using it everything just stops. i cant access apps at all. i can open them but i have no network connectivity. even tho on the top of my phone it will say i have full bars and i have 5g working. and itll stay like that for sometimes 30 mins to an hour. what can i do? should i replash my firmware? to take out what ever letting him remotely access my phone? im so lost at this point. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!!
Lots of solutions...
One is to factory reset and start fresh with a new PIN.
what you can do is inform your family, friends, employer etc. that you have been hacked and it's possible they receive messages from you you actually have never sent in person. ask them to call you instead of texting.
besides that, I recommend digital detox. is your phone really that important you can't even leave the house without?
