Hi all
I'm looking for some help with possibly loading generic/other android onto my Fire 7. I've had this thing for a while and it's becoming a chore just to do stuff on it with how slow Fire OS has become.
It is running Fire OS 5.7.0.0, is there any possibility to downgrade and flash with another rom?
I've read other posts about doing it with 5.3.2 but nothing I can see more recent.
I'm primarily a mac 10.11 user but can access windows or linux if need be as have them all installed on my macbook.
Many thanks in advance

Hi all
I'm toying with installing Android 4.1 on my new Kindle Fire (non HD) so that I can get access to all the bits that I have my Android phone. The only thing I'll lose is access to LoveFilm but that's not a biggy.
However, is it possible to go back to the Kindle Fire OS if I don't like using Android on it? I can find several 4.1 installations but I can't find any Kindle Fire OS installs to apply so I'm wondering whether it's possible to remove Android 4.1 and put the factory OS back again later on.
Any ideas?

If it is a new KF, I'm not sure where you've found these installs of 4.1 but I do't think they are for the new model. The bootloader was just recently cracked and CWM and CM10 are in the early stages of being ported to the new KF's, mainly the 8.9. There are definitely no stable versions yet. Using any roms, tools, recovery, utilities, etc... meant for old model kindles will definitely brick your device. Check out the development section for progress. For now though rooting, installing play store and custom launcher will give you a good android feel without compromising performance and stability. Nova and Apex launchers are based off ics/jb interface.

Oliver,
Can you go into the Menu, Other, Device, About
What is the Software Version? If it is 10.2.3 or 10.2.2 you have the new Kindle Fire 2
and not the old Kindle Fire. Having said this, you do not have any Bootloader options
or at least any stable ones, this Android 4.1.2 is Out on the Kindle Fire 2. Onemeila
is correct, most of the development (Custom ROM) is focused around the Kindle
Fire HD 8.9" not the Kindle Fire 2 7". This is not to say we will never see a Custom
ROM, it is to say, we are a long ways away.
Greetings, XDA-D community,
I have a Kindle Fire 7.4.9 in my possession and an ultimate goal is to drop Kindle OS and get KitKat on it (open for better options, was told KitKat is not the best for tablets).
It's also my first rooting experience.
I unsuccessfully tried to follow 3 guides below, but didn't get far.

I managed to get SuperSU thru the first link (Bin4ry v3.3), but that was the end of it.
I can NOT get anything done thru KFU (0.9.9 and 0.9.6) due to Boot Status: Unknown - at least that's what I think.
I'm trying to root on Windows 7 x64, also have up-to-date Java and Android SDK.
Any help pointing me in to the right direction is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
Duplicate thread. Closed. ?
I've been trying to parse through all the various info, outdated and otherwise all over the internet, and I'm having no luck getting a clear step-by-step for what I can do to get a new Kindle Fire HD 7 onto as close to stock Android as possible. Everything I find seems out of date or unclear, expecting you've already done things before instead of starting the process from a new Fire. I'd greatly appreciate getting put in the direction of getting this done. Thank you so much!
Is is the 2014 model?

Using Tapatalk so can't point you there but if you look in Development currently 2nd thread with Supertool. Look halfway down in first post and you will find a link to downgrade. Just did mine. First time with Fire so took a little learning but worked. I had to use the actual Supertool to first update my drivers for adb and fastboot to be able to see the Fire tablet. Then I ran the downgrade part. I also learned to deregister with Amazon first and to unplug the tablet before trying to use Kingroot to root. All went smoothly once I figured those steps out after searching for a bit.

Hello experts,
I just tried to downgrade my latest amazon fire tablet with OS 5.3.2.1 using "www dot youtube dot com/watch?v=Nb1Jax6vWjk&feature=youtu.be" link and the same tools which are shown in the video. When after loading sideload (at 4:36) app as shown in the video, the tablet again showed the recovery menu and I pressed reboot system now. As I pressed, now my tablet is not turning on anymore even when I connect to PC then nothing is shown in the device manager but windows continuously beeping the sound, as it does on connecting any device.
Please help, I don't know what to do. Tell me, I will do everything. Guide me thoroughly.
Thanks
Return to amazon you have bricked your tablet. Fire OS 5.3.2.1 can't be downgraded. The video you linked to shows the downgrade process for Fire OS 5.3.2.

it is very well documented here on the forums that 5.3.2 can be downgraded, while 5.3.2.1 can not. Attempting to do so will brick your device with no option for recovery, so you'll have to do as McBF said and try to get Amazon to replace it for you.
What is meant by bricked?
And will Amazon replace it with new one or I would have to buy new or Amazon will troubleshoot it and then return it to me the same tablet?
Bricked=Broken and can not be repaired.
If it's a new tablet return to who ever you bought it from for a warranty replacement. If asked it just stopped working.
If you bought it from amazon the are usually very good for returning items. They would most likely send a new tablet. If you get a new tablet with Fire OS 5.3.2.1 you will have to wait for a procedure to root. It can not be downgraded, it will break the tablet if you do.
