So our brand new phones are obsolete already? I'm having issues believing that. Have any proof of this anyways?
4206 wimbelton dr dallas
Are they going to give the already Kaiser a free trade in? Or do we have to go out and buy this?
this is bad very bad ,they update the driver nd to bad for the people that aleady purchased the unit!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????
another thing your thread states already fixed
not true or else it would be already available as an update and another thing why believe you when your user name is laugh atloud ?????
dont worry. we the cooks will just extract the new drivers and cook them into the roms.

Great point. But it really sucks that we have to wait till March!!! I wish it was by January at max.
But if HTC has solved this problem why would they not release a ROM Upgrade for the current TyTn II users. ROM's with bug fixes have been fairly common in the past. As I understand the driver issue is a software issue and not a hardware issue. Experts!! I am correct??
Not to mention the poster has only 4 posts......sounds like a troll to me
Plus i heard the updates will be available throught the new Windows Update feature.
it's amazing !!!
the solution exist but doesn't be share !!!
Why your brother doesn't send the driver to the forum ?
I think this forum have the best programmers to include it in a new rom !!!
and it's worst that htc doesn't publish it !!!!
Happy new year (take that on left hand as a bad joke in regard of this thread, and on right hand for my wishes !)
hm..real...or fake..?
not just that, but assuming qualcomm's current legal and shortage of chips troubles, whats the odds that the new TyTn (as the OP was stating) will be using a qualcomm chip? This seems very unlikely. So really the driver issue HASN'T been fixed, since we can be 99% sure that the new chipsets will not be from qualcomm.
I think we are unnecessarily torturing somebody who wanted to give us some good news. Upgrades of software usually are released to fix multiple small problems all in one, not piecemeal. If the brother of laughoutloud were to release the code, he could lose his job as well! Let's wait and hold for some good things to come in 08, if everything gets released right away, then what is there for our phones to look forward to?
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear... the proof is in the pudding. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, keep the pressure on.
this guy is full of Sh!t
the only way to know if it is or not a fake is if he posts the driver on the forum and we test it.. but for now.. for mi is a fake..
even if it was real, they cant just go behind the company's back and post up the driver before it's schedule release date. serious fines and penalties.
You guys dont need to believe him, dont need to call him a fake or call him names. just wait and see, nothing can be done about it anyways. if it doesnt release in march than okay call him a fake. until then, shouldnt speculate.
If he is a fake, he probably enjoying himself right now watchin everyone get so worked up over it. If he is real, well he probably just got a big bad impression about the members of XDA forums.
or maybe if the guy will talk to us a little more and not leave us hanging. or let us contact his brother via email or something as proof?

After activating wp7 is it update ready?

Firstly i would like to day hello to all and thank you for all the great work you guys have been doing. If it wasn't for your site i would be a lost soul.
Now to get to the point. I am getting my HD2 within the next two weeks and would like to know if i upgrade to wp7 and get the activation code, will i be able to do live updates and so on oficially? If this is poster before i do apologize but i could not find the answer.
I'm from Cape Town South Africa. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
With updates do you mean system updates? In this case, no, you have to wait. Now we're all waiting for DFT to release the NoDo version
Thanks allot for the response. Looking forward to it.
I did mean the official updates from ms yes, sorry forgot to put that in there.
No, you and I are at the mercy of "黑暗軍團" (Dark Legion). It is up to him to release updates and you cannot update via zune, because it will download files, reboot your phone a few times, and then fail.
Lovely. Guess ill stick with SPB and the 6.5 till then. Got so many awesome apps on my I900 and don't think its a good idea to lose all that atm. Also would like to start to create a few apps and so on for WP7 but I guess ill need a WP for that.

And how on earth would you be able to get an "official" update from M$? There is no "official" HD2 WP7 software/drivers!?
What you have is a custom rom which has been edited to run on your hardware.
I do understand that and did think that was the case but i figured no harm in asking just to make sure. I don't assume something since we know about assumptions. Thanks for the info.

New root method to be released at Def Con 22 in August

GTVHacker has announced on their blog (http://blog.gtvhacker.com/2014/google-nest-exploiting-dfu-for-root/) that their upcoming talk at Def Con 22 will feature unreleased exploits for 20 devices, including the Chromecast, being released in a 45-minute period. Hopefully their unreleased exploit won't be patched between now and then.
Lets hope this is true and Google doesn't figure out how it is done and patch it before we get it!
That have had this root method for awhile according to the link you posted...
It's there any benefit to having your chromecast rooted, anyways?

I was one who argued earlier that there was no real need for it....
But at that time Developer support was limited and scarce!
Now I would have to argue that Rooting (and flashing Eureka) is a desirable thing to have as the Whitelist is becoming more of a hinderance than it once was.
Where there was once maybe 20 developers working on support and Goggle was quick to update the whitelist to get as much support to the public as possible....NOW there are probably 100's (maybe even 1000's) working on Apps that support CCast and waiting for Google to whitelist their projects and as we have seen recently, Things like Mirroring have been around and working for close to two months yet many are denied from using it due to the Whitelisting restrictions.
As time goes on...Having Root will be much more worth having than it was back in December and January.
So this is good news if you ask me! and YES rooting is becoming much more worth having than it used to be!

Is there a list of apps that Google won't support yet and are added to custom whitelist? I do have Eureka ROM but chose to run official whitelist because the updates to popular or prominent apps gets there faster. I wouldn't mind having a look at some of the smaller developers and what features they offer, you can always find a gem or two there.

I could be wrong but I thought the "lag" was addressed a couple of builds back and there should be near-zero "lag" between a Google whitelist and Team Eureka whitelist now.

I think you are right, I went to the project's file repository and noticed a whitelist-sync script. I guess it is safe to go back to Eureka provided whitelist.

Well Google's Mirroring app is the first one I'm sure about....
Not sure what else Team Eureka has included that is not on the official Google list....
The benefit isn't so much the MORE you can do it is the fact that when a MORE is found that Google is dragging it's feet on Eureka can add it to the list provided someone else has access to that feature.
And any developer who wanted to, could ask Eureka to whitelist their app should Google decline to do so...
Not many of those have popped up yet that I know of but in the future it will happen at some point.

Everyone is anxious

Everyone worried about Google patching your unit before the exploit comes out... Do what I did.
UNPLUG IT!
Your unit can't update if it has no power.

Well unless they are posting from the venue you are not likely to get any reports until about 8 or 9 PM Eastern.
Saw a recap on another website of the talk, but they didn't mention the Chromecast at all on the post. I hope it's real. I guess we'll have to keep waiting.
Information from defcon is up on http://dc22.gtvhacker.com, but there is no mention of any new root exploits, same old info from what i can see?

They're still in the process of updating the content on the site it looks like. Other devices haven't had their root methods released yet either.
Someone asked them on Twitter if new info on the Chromecast was out and they replied with "not yet " which leads me to believe they may not be releasing it just yet? Or perhaps like you said r3pwn, they haven't added it to their page yet.

Information for UK customers

I noticed that both Germany (upated to 127) and India (face unlock) have had updates but after talking on chat to the UK Honor rep there apparently is no information about any updates/features for UK customers.
Additionally tried to register for club.hihonor.com and the 'Country/Region' selection does not even include the UK at all.
So apparently we're ok to buy them and pay full price same as everyone else, but not ok for the same level of support or customer service.
I'm putting this here because I bought this phone after the positive reviews from many commentators but it's now obvious to me that these commentators don't all do their homework properly and some just concentrate on the product and forget about the other differentiator, which is the after-sales, customer service and support.

Yes I'm aware of project treble, but that has absolutely nothing to do with honor, several other android phones support project treble indeed it is a must by google that any device with Oreo out of the box has to support it. The point i was making was particular to honor support not android in general. Additionally project Treble requires you to unlock the BL, OTA updates by manufacturer do not.

Apologies but your quoted project treble so i assumed you were familiar with what that entails. You can read up on it if you need deeper info but what it comes down to is to use project treble you replace your system.img partition and you cannot do that without unlocking your bootloader. A manufacturer provided OTA update is signed and therefore updates your system normally without having to unlock anything just a standard system update. That is why the point is that if honor does not provide updates you have to resort to some custom update which is not the same. Now Honor has already updated both German and Indian honor 9 Lite (read threads here and you'll find reference to that) but UK ones are not even scheduled according to their own customer service who i chatted with. Try and register on club.hihonor.com and you'll discover the UK according to them is not even on the planet since they list most countries except the UK.

As far as I understood Project Treble is more related to the vendor partition. Never ever heard before that you have to unlock the bootloader to get updates from Project Treble. Are you sure about that? Any links?

go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659 and search for 'vendor partition' and you'll realise what you say is partially correct. Some vendors integrate the vendor partition inside system.img some have A and B partitions some only have A partition (like ours). You can never overwrite the system partition without unlocking the bootloader because it is set to read only, if it wasn't the whole of the android community would be in a heap of trouble. Imagine users (who don't know what they're doing) gaining access to /system and amending stuff, the result will most likely boot loop or soft/hard brick your device.
Anyway, this is taking us away from the point I was making and apologies but will not be adding anything further, if you do not agree with it that ofcourse is your prerogative.

Im based in the UK also and was going to purchases the 9 Lite but i'll hold off for now. If custom ROMs pick up that may change.

Actions speak louder than words and by its actions to its UK customer base huawei/honor is showing how much it truly values us. Since there is absolutely nothing we can do about it i suggest best course of action is to vote with your feet and next purchase will be anything but a huawei/honor. At least that is still within our control. Huawei/honor give you some great value on hardware side unfortunately evidence shows that doesn't carry over to the software.

Why I'm ready for Oreo...

Well I just want to vent with some fellow G5S plus owners and Phone modding enthusiasts . Well I too have lost my Volte and to have that annoyance fixed would be great , but most of all im ready for root again . Yes i know i can have it now but I went through a lot of trouble with research and trial and error to install Stock that would actually receive OTA updates . I purchased this device specifically to get back into an old hobby of customizing , Its listed as one of the best deals in price and easily modified and i find that to be true. The amount of development and support for this lower cost phone is impressive ! I would also like to thank all the developers who have worked hard in creating the support and customization. We have a saying in Texas "get off the toilet " i cant imagine what is taking MOTONOVA so long to get this done ! Anyway just wanted to complain and to say im ready for some customization. i havent had a modified device for 4 years prior to this purchase and only had a few months to enjoy playing around with modding it . Ive also had the thought that moto may not have another full blown firmware update for this device if its taking this long for oreo . Ok! done crying about this situation . Again thanks to the developers and forum regulars that are here for advice and direction for our device and to MOTO " get off the toilet "  Oh and i wish no one would post that Oreo is rolling out until they have a screen shot of their device updated with it ! jS
Take it up with moto. Xda is hardly the place to rant about your impatience - it ain't gonna do ya any good here. Also won't do ya any good with moto, but that's your problem.

Jeez Mr. Serious ! Does every Thread have to be someone Crying cause they jacked there device It was more of a statement of benevolence with my fellow G5S Plus users . Believe me Im not so foolish as to think it would make a difference . I do believe the word discussion is used to describe the topics here . This was merely to fellowship in in the obvious anguish in this impossibly long wait for the update and a round about way to say thanks to all that participate in this forum that would most certainly include you in thanks as i see your a senior member . Hell at least it wasnt another thread with false info about the update  Chill and take a break man !
Like another thread is needed from someone crying about why their toy doesn't get attention - which by the way, I do find most humorous. Problem is, even a good joke gets boring when you hear it enough.

Well Im going to see what happens next month and if its another security patch im going to root again and play with stock as i normally do .
I'd rather wait extra time to get an update that is at least 95% stable and bug-free over an update with tons of bugs and issues.
Have some patience.
The whole point of xda is to go above and beyond just waiting for for the official release of anything , trust in the devs and rock on

I've not heard anything about that - from what I've seen of other Moto Oreo updates, as long as the firmware you're locking with is as new or newer than your bootloader, it should lock(e.g https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-relock-oreo-bootloader-to-stock-t3784621) . Of course, if you've updated to Oreo, that means you need the Oreo stock fastboot firmware to be leaked. Can I ask where you've heard that Oreo may block you from re-locking for Motorola devices?
Any older firmwares, including the ones we have available at the moment, may not work. There's also the caveats of re-locking not restoring your warranty and erasing your data during the process.

The amount of rumor and innuendo surrounding this release has been bordering on the ridiculous. I think this thread has helped me realize that the update may not be so wonderful . Several opinions stated prior reminded me that the anticipation could just be a big let down . I really want the volte problem with my phone corrected but it actually works just fine with out it. I do have hope that it corrects some issues like why did the imei and volte disappear and will the same happen with oreo . Also I wish I could speak Spanish i live in west Tx and I have searched for private tutors but its surprisingly difficult to find such a person . A boot leg Rosetta stone would be awesome !!! jk on the boot leg part ..... sort of
