Hey folks,
I've been trying to install TWRP on my Mi5, MIUI 8 Global 7.1.19 Beta, and I cannot, for the life of me, get it to work.
I've tried the standard method via Fastboot, which boots into TWRP but then defaults back to the standard Xiaomi recovery when I reboot. I've scoured the MIUI forums and these forums here and tried the solutions suggested, such as the Cofface.img and Flasher toolkit (When using the toolkit it says it has completed successfully and says "you are now in TWRP xxxxx" but the device remains in Fastboot mode and doesn't even reboot) etc., but none of them work! Each and every time the device falls back to the standard recovery and I'm left with more grey hair.
Does anyone know of any other solutions or ideas?
Thanks in advance.
What TWRP version ?
Did you try the modified version that is available in the miUI forum? xz.. something...
There is also a guide for it (on the miUI).

Cheers for the info, mate. Yes, I've tried the modded version (the cofface version and TWR 3.0.2.X), 3.0.2.1. wouldn't open when I was able to boot into it (once), it just stuck at the splash screen and 3.0.2.0 won't even boot, let alone install.
Cheers mate!
TWRP is now at 3.0.2-3
This is the webpage (official twrp site):https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomimi5.html
The modified version is the ZCX-TWRP: http://en.miui.com/thread-364569-1-1.html
Thanks! I managed to boot into 3.0.2-3 to flash the EU ROM I wanted. I'll have a quick reboot now and see if the recovery has stuck.
Edit
Yep. I managed to boot into 3.0.2-3, install the ROM and the recovery is fine too. Cheers, man. I appreciate the help.
Same problem...
Console tells me everything is well but there is no twrp... Tryed newest version.
Never mind. Had to boot into TWRP as a last step.
"adb reboot recovery"
I installed from global stable rom to miui9 beta global rom .
It worked fine, but then I wanted to root my phone , I installed twrp 3.3.0-1 from its page , followed the steppes .
Twrp works, but my phone doesnt start up , only the MI logo shows.
My questions are :
What should I do to avoid bricking my phone?
Is there any way to wake my phone up? I dont want to lose it
fastboot mode , recovery , it all works , but the phone doesnt boot up.
Is the twrp the problem?
I would be glad If you helped me , I know you guys are smart
THanks in advance....

I don´t think it´s TWRP. I did the sames steps from global stable rom to miui9 beta eu rom. I rooted with magisk from TWRP and it works.
Maybe you´ll try to root with magisk it works also.
Edit: Don´t forget to Wipe Cache and Art / Dalvik!
Go to advanced - tools in TWRP and disable boot partition encryption.

I cant find this option in advanced settings
I'm running 3.1.1. Disable Verify isn't available in yours?
EDIT: I just realized I may have not been clear in my first post. Disable Verify is the option you're looking for.

Follow that guide. After you get TWRP installed flash your favorite root manager. I use SuperSU because I hate Magisk but flash whatever you prefer.
Just hard reboot your phone by holding the power button for 20 seconds

Hi guys , my device mi 5 32gb
flashed alpha 8.6.5 then i lost my custom recovery
and I can't flash by fastboot coz my socket has a problem
i tried to flash some global & Chinese roms by the updater but got many errors
so can anyone help me to find a rom that i can flash it by the updater and get the official root by xiaomi in the permissions settings to get my root and custom recovery back ?
If you are rooted you can try to install the recovery with the twrp app
Hello my friends
That's the new release for xiaomi.eu
The newest beta rom
Modified by xiaomi.eu
No ads
No chinese apps
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=10763459528675564908
Flash with twrp
Then format data
Important note :
If you wanna use twrp after flashing this rom
You must only use fastboot boot recovery twrp
Or you will break the recovery and system:good:
Wouldnt you think with this post you bring problems to some users?
the phone is dead after this rom
I flashed this rom and the phone never turns on !!
it only shows mi logo then turns off immediately
I can not open the phone or even the recovery :crying::crying:
please help me , what should I do ? I only can open fastboot

I wanted to revert back to Android 10 instead of simply install ozip from stock recovery I installed a modded recovery and broke the boot and I don't know how to make it boot again if any one tell me how to find the stock recovery for Android 10 or 11 img I would appreciate it very much. And sorry if I replicated my post but I really need help
