Hello, I'm starting with rooting and I need to root mi phone, a Xiaomi redmi note 10 pro, but evrybo says differents things. First, does it exist a safe auto root app, who keeps user datas ? Else, how to backup them ? In other case, how to Root manualy ? How long is it ? What are the inconvenients to root the phone, unless the security? I'm sorry for this amount of questions, but I can't find a consensus, and I want to be sure before do anything.
And sorry for the bad English, I'm French.
Thanks by advance

1. Autoroot/One-Click roots are dead (outdated for the most part) and doesn't work on latest android versions.
2. Rooting doesn't clear your data, unlocking your bootloader is however.
3. Back up your data through drive or whatever, SD card is much preferable
4. Rooting requires bootloader unlock which means format data is needed. After BL unlock, flash twrp through adb fastboot and flash Magisk or directly flash a patched boot IMG through adb, saves hassle of flashing twrp (research this part thoroughly).
5. Rooting takes less than 10 mins, unlocking bootloader takes 7 days at the very least.
6. Rooting does prevent you from using banking apps, certain apps, and passing safety net, however there are many ways to hide root and continue to use your desired banking apps and pass safetynet so you can continue using apps with root privileges.
7. Rooting is safe, its the users fault if they use an incompatible module, granted an unsafe app root permission etc. Research a lot on the apps and modules you want to use and don't just grant root every time.

Hi! I have little questions...
1) I think is a stupid one: if I root my phone, can I install updates normally, or I have to flash them in a strange way (CMW recovery) ?
2) And if the answer is "yes", I have to do again and again the root's process (every time I do an update)? It means that every update does a sort of "unroot"..
3) And last question, it is not important, but I want to root my phone because I want to install this app that needs root.. i think is not very useful, but is great
Do you know apps that are very useful, and it need root permissions to work? (if I have to root my device only for 1 app, I won't do! )
suggest me please!
1) you can flash new firmwares with Flashtool
2) yes, you need to repeat the rooting procedure
3) bucketloads of them, my favs are Titanium Backup (great for backing up apps) and Paragon NTFS (can read NTFS drives, including disks connected to OTG)
And why is rooting the phone for 1 app a problem? If you want to use that one app, go for it. Not to mention that with rooting you can remove bloatware or unnecessary system apps

You can also just flash a stock ROM without rooting, which will get rid of bloatware.
1)it should look for your bootloader(BL) is locked or unlocked ,if your BL is locked ,you can update normally via PCC or SUS
otherwise you can't update normally and you have to flash new firmewares
2)yes ,you have to root again after update your phone
3) LMT will ask your root permission ,if you are not rooted ,LMT will work with Home function ONLY ,so root is needed to run LMT perfectly
i'm using LMT too ,same reason i choose to root my phone ,CAUTION that you don't unlock your BL ,because you will lost warranty and BE2 ,so be aware of
your BL.
If you received the OTA firmware update like I did, you probably loss root access and it's now very hard to re-root. This is because Samsung updated the Knox partition and also the firmware.
What does this means?
Even if you flash an older version of your firmware, Knox partition will remain the same and you still won't have root access.
NOTICE: Root might be easy for some, but Xposed is really tricky to install on this device. Please backup all your files from your internal storage because there are minor chances your device might go into a boot loop, meaning you WILL have to flash a firmware again, this DOES NOT means you need to wipe your device, but it's always better to be prepared for the worst.
If you have no problem installing Xposed on your E7, this post is not for you! This is only if you received the OTA update!
1. ROOTING YOUR PHONE
- Install Kingo Root on your computer and follow the step by step instructions, just make sure to enable USB debugging from the developer options on your device and click accept when prompted to connect with your computer. You will have to wait from 5 to 20 minutes for the software to try multiple ways to root your device, sometimes it is really fast and sometimes it takes a while, it really depends on your firmware so if you fail to gain root access just go ahead and try another firmware from Sammobile. I use E700HXXU1AOAC_E700HUUB1AOAC_TPA and works really well, this is the firmware for Panama and it's NOT the newest one, however it has worked quite well for me. // CF Auto-Root used to worked before, however, after the update it is no longer working on this device :crying:
NOTICE: Disabling Knox voids your warranty and removes a very cool feature from your phone. Without Knox, anyone can steal your device and become its new owner. Why? Well, Knox links your device to your account only, no one else can use it unless having your user and password from Samsung, even after a full factory reset! So please keep this in mind, I'm willing to sacrifice this because I love Xposed.
2. DISABLING KNOX
- Now that you have Root Access, you need to install SuperSU to disable KNOX. Just go to the play store, download SuperSU, open it and grant root access to it using Kingo Root. You should now be prompted to Disable Knox and obviously you have to accept that!
3. OPTIONAL - Removing Kingo
- Download Titanium Backup from the Play Store so that you can remove your old Kingo User app... you won't need it anymore because you now have SuperSU. You can also uninstall Kingo App :good:
That's it! Rooted and without KNOX you can now install Xposed with no problems! No need for custom recoveries, just follow the classical procedure.
If you need help installing Xposed now that your device is properly rooted and without Knox, make sure to visit the other posts for more details.

i have downgraded to kitkat

Hello all,
I want to flash a mod.zip (in my case it is the v4a rootless driver) on my unrooted redfin with A12.
As you might know there is no TWRP right now for our Pixel 5 with A12, therefore I qm looking for other ways to flash this particular zip file.
I am trying to remove root from my device as it makes life more complicated which is not really necessary.
So is there any way to flash a mod.zip on an unlocked device without using a custom recovery?
Thanks in advance!
No. Only a custom recovery can be used to flash something, and a custom recovery requires unlocked bootloader.
It IS possible to install a Magisk module by temporarily booting a Magisk patched boot image, but again that requires an unlocked bootloader, and I don't think Magisk can install modules without root. Even if it could, root would still be required in order to load said modules.
If this driver doesn't require root, I would imagine it can be installed from within V4A.
The problem here is that Android checks for signatures which are only known by the makers of the phone. So that only developers of the phone can push updates. Custom recovery just bypasses the check which helps you flash anything
Android 11 + root is working wonderfully.
We have permanent TWRP.
I don't believe nandroid backups work but haven't tried really yet.
If you are only routing for V4A, I guess it comes down to is it worth it for you, as I haven't known a way to use V4A on A12 while un-rooted.
Best of luck.

I can confirm that as of a few days ago, TWRP didn't create a working Nandroid backup for me even though it finished the process and prompted "success"!
Before I started to mess around with my phone, I created a Nandroid copy thinking if anything happens, I can always restore using this backup. I was so disappointed after I soft bricked my phone but my Nandroid copy was useless to save me. As a result, I flashed with a Google ROM for the 1st time in my Android ownership without root.
In the past 6 months, I've had to combat Google 3 times to pass SafetyNet. Though I could get it to work on the 1st 2 times, it was a lot of time investment since I had to research for a solution. The 3rd time I bricked my phone and had to factory reset the phone and start over.
If Google keeps beefing up SafetyNet every few months, this cat and mouse game is simply too time-consuming to make up for the convenience of a rooted phone.
Passing safety net is easy. Just install magisk canary it's just that easy. But the only thing is that magisk hide is not there in canary
i just want to say, i used my device for long, i dont wanna wipe my data but i want to root it. is that possible?
THX in advance
If your bootloader isn't unlocked then doing so will wipe data. If it is unlocked you can use the latest version of Magisk. Following this guide:
Magisk Root without custom Recovery and without losing Encryption
So, I unlocked my bootloader a couple of days ago, but when I got into the point of flashing TWRP, I realized that there is no custom recovery that supports device encryption. For that reason I didn't root my phone but there is a way around...
forum.xda-developers.com
Obviously you will need the correct boot.img file relevant to your specific Redmi Note 10s device extracted from an official rom.
You'll also need to enable usb debugging in the hidden developer options and configure ADB properly on your computer.
If you don't use the correct rom for your device it will get stuck in a bootloop, or just won't boot at all, requiring a hard reset and loss of all data.
There are guides for all these things on the XDA forums.
If you haven't heard of these things before, this is your main phone, or you aren't confident in your abilities then I don't recommend doing it, but it's your choice just don't blame others if something goes wrong.

Sorry I missed out the part about the bootloader which is important and edited the post above so please re-read.
Yeah if unsure then just don't do it as you could end up losing everything very easily.

it's not as simple as that, you can register to unlock your bootloader by xiaomi from the dev options, but you still have to do the unlock though your pc with the miunlock program logged into your account. This takes 7 days to verify and the moment you do it it wipes your data.
This is the official way of unlocking your bootloader and being able to do with the device whatever you want.
There is an alternative unofficial way of doing it and that method claims to not delete data on your device, but I have no idea how well that method works since it seems to rely on some sort of workaround. here's a link to the post about that method, I just did mine the official way and copied my files back and redownloaded the apps.

+1 this works
Yes its possible to not wipe data or lose it during the process at this point in time.
Just this past week (I'm new to redmi phones ) did the same process for the note 10s and note 9.
The issue with bootloader unLocking (which normally means a data wipe) is negated with mtkclient.
A Data backup is just a good standard practice but understanding the procedures posted before and following them correctly should give no issue.
You can root it by using termux too.
To root an Android phone using Termux, follow these steps:
Install Termux app from the Google Play Store
Open Termux and run pkg install git to install Git
Run git clone https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/termux-root.git to clone the root repository
Change directory with cd termux-root
Run sh install.sh to install the root tool
Restart the phone and the phone should be rooted.
Note: Rooting a phone voids its warranty and can potentially harm the device if not done carefully. Proceed at your own risk.
Hello,
I would like to list the consequences of the changes when installing a custom rom on the redmi note 11 (spes/n).
In your opinion, what causes the following changes on our phone
This is some responses I can give after testing myself
1/ Unlock bootloader
Erase all your data
The unlock icon appears on the top of starting logo
2/ Install custom Recovery
Nothing have happened
3/ Install custom Rom (for me Evolution X)
First install : You will have to erase all your data
Upgrade : Nothing should happen
4/ Root
Maybe Unauthorizing Bank apk ?
Hi Darkspirit66,
Whilst I am not at the Custom Rom'ing stages yet with this phone, too new for me to tinker with this one... I'll just have to settle with me other phones for messing around with for now...
However I am glad you've raised these points. Whilst I've asked this before in another thread, its good to have clear answers...
Whilst most of the earlier questions, I kinda of expected. Some kind of message/logo at booting stage to announce it's unlocked/modified. I believe this is standard in pretty much all phones, one way or another.
Unlocking Bootloader/Flashing, again.... erasing of the data is standard practice again.
The bit that most concerns me... Is there any tell tale signs of after unlocking/rooting....? I've come from a mainly Samsung background. In the early phones, you simply ran "TriangleAway" and bob's ya uncle... no one is any of the wiser. Under new models, once ya trip the ole Knox, there's no going back. Permanent visible sign of tinkering, and security and bank apps will never work again without tricks.
So, if one was to unlock the Bootloader, root, rom and then change their mind and go back to stock. Will all the banking apps continue to work, or does it alter it for good....? I believe once unlocked and with custom recovery, its best to flash stock with TWRP as you get to keep the unlock but can flash stock and custom as much as you like without any triggers...??
Cheers, Lister

Hi LOS
Rooting the phone results in the problem with banking applications.
If you decide to unroot (it's possible) and reinstall a stock rom the apks should work again. (To confirm)

You can always hide root with magisk and keep your phone rooted also with banking apps ;-)
