Question Navigation bar issues - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

I've tried using swipe gestures instead of buttons in navigation and i wanna go back to buttons.
When i try selecting it via Display-Navigation bar-Buttons i get "Settings keep stopping" message and i'm left with the gestures.
Is there a way to fix this via adb or something?

Nevermind, i've solved iy by reinstalling the com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.threebutton package.

Missing navigation bar button icons

Has anyone else had this weird issue? Recently I applied a Samsung theme from the store and the navigation bar button icons dissappeared but the buttons are still there and functionable. Tried re enabling all disabled apps, wiping cache from bootloader, rebooting, applying stock themes, just about everything. Factory reset fixed the problem but than it reoccurred. Going to follow up with a screenshot.
Did you double tap the dot in the left corner of the nav bar?
If so, swipe up from the bottom, the nav bar should appear, double tap the dot again.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not missing the navigation bar. It's just not displaying anything in it. Just looks like a transparent bar. The only thing I can see is the little dot on the left to lock it. Screenshot below.

So, it now does it without applying a theme?

I can't get the icons to show up again without factory resetting the device, soft reset does nothing.. Tried restoring from backup that occurred before applying the theme, and it's still broken. Re enabled all disabled packages, no luck..
Ok, that is an odd one.
Hope you get it worked out. I'll keep looking.

How about in Safe Mode? If it doesn't there... youll know it's an app... or something after your initial setup.

Still occurs in safe mode Thanks for the suggestion though.
Same thing happened to me when I installed one of the black navigation apks on here. Factory reset was the only way I was able to get them to reappear.
are u using transparent navbar overlay apk ?
u can just uninstall the apk app from settings then reboot. icons will show

I was using a black navbar overlay apk, however I tried removing it and rebooting without any success. What's interesting is that I just Factory reset my phone and the black option for navigation bar still persists. Did they add that back in or something?

they had black in factory rom, but when u update firmware it'll be gone. i think.
Sometimes my nav bar icons would dissapear when my blue light filter was turned up very high.

Did you by any chance install a transparent navigation bar apk? I found one and installed it and this same thing happened. I went onto Settings/apps and found the com file, Uninstalled it and rebooted and it went back to stock.
It's possible one of the overlays I installed in substratum contained a transparent nav bar and I didn't notice or something, so maybe by removing the black navbar and rebooting I wasn't addressing the real problem. That sounds feasible, in the end I ended up just doing another factory reset and all is good. Thank you guys for all of the suggestions, I'm fairly certain this was the issue. So maybe avoid transparent nav bars for now

Non Root ADB Full Immersive Mode

Hi Kings and Queens of XDA.
Since updating to Oreo, the adb command that enables full immersive mode system wide, no longer works on the homepage, but still does in apps.
Question is, does anyone know of a workaround?
This is driving me nuts. Yes I know, 1st world problem, but all the same....
Thanks in advance for any input.

Tried this, doesn't work for me. I was getting glitches whereby the screen wasn't refreshing properly when going back and forth from the apps draw and some other weird stuff.
Had to uninstall the app and still the problem wasn't solved till I did a reinstall of the system.
But thanks anyway.

Nova Launcher Prime and Nougat/Oreo Quick Settings work for me. This will only hide the status bar if you use the stock launcher.

Yeah, that's the thing, I actually like touchwiz /UI 9000.0, or whatever Sammy's calling it today.
Just want full immersive on homepages, status and navigation bars just distract from the minimalist look.
Thanks though.
you may wanna try this.

The way we used to set navigation bar's height to 0 DOES NOT work anymore!!!
Here I want to share a way that I use to remove the annoying nav bar WITHOUT ROOT.
If you are interested, you can try it. I currently have a SAMSUNG NOTE 8 UNLOCKED running Android 8.0
I discovered this method based on luisshnyder's method (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/remove-oreo-navbar-completely-t3772217), but I did more to resolve some problems he didn't mention.

After using my method, what's working:
1. A full screen with no navigation bar in any circumstance even in landscape mode or input method pops up.
2. Hard press working all the time, including when the phone is locked, screen off or unlocked status.
3. Screen capture working and also scrolling screen capture working (many users want this!)
4. You can swipe or other gestures to perform go back, home, recent app or many other functions.
What's not working:
The lock screen shortcuts cannot be displayed correctly under WQHD resolution.
Overall, you need the following software
1) Android 8.0 Oreo installed
2) All in one gesture (Free, in PlayStore)
3) FloatingMenu 6.1.9 (Free, but Pro Version works much better, don't use PlayStore version, use the apk attached)
4) All necessary software needed to run adb commands. You may need to learn how to install and use adb command line.
Now let's start:
0. Go back to your phone's default settings if you tried any other methods before (ignore this if you didn't).
1. Go to Seetings -> Display -> Navigation bar, UNcheck "Show and hide button".
2. Install All in one gesture.
2.1. Configure this app's settings in the way you like. I use 12 Hotspots Straight Swipe and make Bottom, Left, Center to be Recent, Home and Back.
2.2. Go to Personalization -> Edge Preference, Leave Opacity as it is, we'll deal with it later. set other scrollbars the way you like, I use the following value: Edge Sensitivity 50px, Edge Width 100%.
3.3. Go back to Personalization, make sure Auto Rotation is checked, while Behind Keyboard is UNchecked. For me, to make it better, I also Unchecked Toast Message and checked Animation.
3. Install FloatingMenu 6.1.9, DO NOT use PlayStore version, use the apk attached.
3.1. Configure your bottom bar the way you like, but make sure the Height is more than 200. You may need to buy the Pro version to use all three bottom bars.
3.2. Go to Settings, make sure you UNcheck "Reposition when IME appears", and set "Auto hide when landscape" to "Hide all".
3.3. Go to Advanced settings, make sure you UNcheck "Max window level", and check "Cover softKeyboard".
4. Plug-in your phone to a computer with adb environment, make sure USB debugging is ON. (Learn more about adb if you don't know this before operating)
5. In the command line, run: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.samsung.android.app.smartcapture
6. In the command line, run: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-168
7. Fully test your phone, then make the bottom bar transparent to make it more beautiful.
8. For users who use WQHD resolution only: Go to Settings -> Lock screen and Security -> App shortcuts, then turn off both shortcuts.
9. Sometimes you need to reboot your devices.
=========================================================================================
If you want to undo the effect you made by the above two adb commands, here are the two "Recover Commands":
adb shell settings put global policy_control null
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0

what do you mean by not working? the bottom bar didn't show up?
Hello. I have question.
If i set gestures from bottom, will be delay between two swipes?
Now I use immersive mode via adb + andromeda to hide navbar and first "back" gesture work normally but if i want do fast second swipe - (2x back in browser) it not work. It acts like showing invisible bar and second gesture work when hide it.
Maybe I'm not understanding the issue so forgive me if what i recommend doesn't help. The way i get system wide immersive mode is by using the bxActions app and linking the Bixby button to enable immersion mode when pressed twice quickly, this way i can still use Bixby if need be. The immersion mode works on games, FB, other social media and the home screen. You'll have to get it working through ADB only once then you should be good to go after that.

Navigation bar fix

I tried some apps to hide the navigation bar using the adb commands, wanted to go back to stock and I uninstalled all the apps but the navigation bar remains hidden and I have always to swype to make it reappear, even if i check show/hide button in settings. Any fix to solve? Thanks
Might help. Dunno which adb commands were used to hide originally

Anybody knows how to enable the navigation bar with latest Android 9?

Hi,
I'm searching how to enable the navigation bar (3-Buttons at the bottom of the screen) on this phone. I'm missing "double tab to switch between latest apps" so much...
I already tried adb overscan command, does not work. Any other solutions?
Seems like UI doesn't allow on P.
I miss it too so what I've done is downloaded my preferred launcher.
I've tried a few but none seem to be doing the trick. You can also try downloading a 3 button navigation app but I really hate ads and it's almost impossible to find one without them.
Lastly, I'd highly recommend XDA's very own Navigation Gestures (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/official-xda-navigation-gestures-iphone-t3792361). You can edit it to see what works for you.

Note 9 Nav Bar

In some if my apps a settings option of 3 dots would appear in the nav bar. Since installing Android 10 those options don't appear so I can't change app settings nor back up data in those apps. I use Nova but that doesn't affect nav bar.. Any idea how to get settings dots back?
Please help if you can!
Not sure without a screenshot what exactly you mean but it might be an issue with the apps not upgraded to 10.
Another idea, have you try a clean install of those apps if you didn't already.
Is it possible the settings have moved since android10?
It is legacy apps that haven't been updated and never will be
I can't take a screenshot of where the menu used to be since it isn't there now. These apps originally used the Android menu key. Then went to 3 dots in nav bar in the right side. There is an app that creates a floating menu key by fooling Android 10 that it is a keyboard.
A real keyboard with a menu key or a menu key in Nova would be the best solution.
