Android 12.1 ruins my battery - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Does anyone else have it happen that all android 12.1 or android 12L roms destroy their battery? In my case they always end up decalibrating, and it also lasts less As if this were not enough, I bought a new battery and the same thing happens When I go back to android 10 with my beloved Havoc rom the problems are solved once I calibrate the battery It's really a shame because Android 12 roms are beautiful in general. Am I the only one this happens to?
pd: sorry for my english haha

Stay on 10 if you can. I'm not seeing nothing pretty with 12 but each to his own.
Rule #1 if an OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... let it be.
Upgrades can and do break things... malware seldom does, Anything from Android 9 and up is reasonably secure... unless you do stupid things.
13 is really looking wicked bad right now... no saving this dud

Are you talking about some (official) MIUI 13 with A12 release for Renoir or about someone's port of MIUI 13 from another device to Renoir (K20 Pro) or about a custom A12 ROM?
Because, Renoir is AFAIK EOL and not receiving A12 - it was even said that if it receives MIUI 13, it would still be based on A11

You are right, but I meant if the same thing happens to others, it is strange, because it seems that I am the only one that happens to it, it happens to me more than anything with the Evo 12.1 rom, I think that with Voltage it happened but less scale so to speak, maybe I should try more roms and kernels

Best ROM for daily usage?

hello,
i bought a mi5 with 32gb for my mum. at the moment she has a Motorola phone with quite to vanilla android.
i dont want to change the OS to miui for her. so i intended to flash mokee 71 (cm 14.1 based). but a read a lot about bad camera with cm roms and i am not sure if its a daily driver.
what rom would you recommend?
They are all the same... Maybe you should go for marshmallow roms... They are really more stable than n...
i bought the phone because i thought all sources are released and officiall CM would work great in any way. now i have read about problems everywhere. i am very unhappy with the device...
If you want nougat, i'd suggest AICP/RR. I've personally had issues with RR and Doze, for some reason the phone is active all the time and bleeds battery. I've seen it go down by 10% in 15 minutes. Although i think this problem is related to me only.
AICP is nice. And Only flash pico gapps. The others hog a lot of resources.
As for marshmallow, CM 13 is good, RR is also good albeit a few bugs, and hasn't been updated since 21st November.
as RR is based on CM i thought there will be more bugs than in pure CM?

try this "cm-13.0-20161211-NIGHTLY-gemini", it is working fine with my mi5.
There is a Snapshot of CM 13 https://download.cyanogenmod.org?device=gemini
i have tried mokee, which id basically a cm14 rom, and its running nice, except the picture quality of the camera.
I have been using XOSP ROM, somehow the screen on time is like 6-8hrs. It is crazy. It seems faster and smoother compared to Miui8 as well
At the moment:
AOSP based:
CHYPER OS --> good battery and youseful features
SLIM --> rock solid, almost plane
JDC AOSP ---> little feature, good battery and camera, good stability
CM based ( i m not a fan of cm roms but this one it's really good)
XENON HD: battery smooth, fast, cm features plus some more, really good battery and no drain.
i m using cache and data formatted to f2fs, for all roms.
CM 14.1 is great except camera quality. I would use that rom for daily use but now I switched to miui eu rom just because i will take full advantage of camera.
If they ever get camera quality even near to miui, I will switch back to CM.
Xosp Record battery life, no lags. Just check it

after a lot of reading i think all non-miui roms have the same bad camera quality as xiaomi has not released drivers/sources for the camera.
this is the first and last xiaomi device i have bought!

The camera quality is quite on par with the Miui ROM on the unofficial Lineage 14.1 builds. It takes time for DEVs to fix bugs in custom ROMs before they can get it to become stable and then, can they actually improve things like camera quality. If you are not willing to wait, then you should always research on the phone and making sure the custom development on that phone is up to what you expect before buying it. The Mi 5 is a superb phone for its price, but trade offs have to be made too. Be glad that there are people who are actually working on making this phone even better. If you can't even appreciate and spare a thought about these Devs when you make such uncanny posts, then I doubt this community will be happy to have people like you over here either! They don't owe you anything for your "mistake" purchase.

thats not what i said. i appreciate the great work the devs do and did. the only thing i dont like is xiaomi's way of acting. xiaomi is always promising to release sources and so on but they dont do it in a proper way.
but i'm happy to hear the devs are on the best way to solve the camera problem.
I'm using the last official CM nightly and find it superb.
Stock camera is only average, but with Footej Camera from the Play store I'm happy with the results.
Just make sure not to install a full Google apps package since some of their apps don't play well with the CM ones. I use the nano package.

So speak out and call out bull**** like this. People who use their ROMs should be appreciative. I'm glad OP isn't one of those insensitive people!
I think the ROMs right now as we speak have suffered major updates, and all of a sudden I have doubts about choosing one instead of another, because if you guys check out the Development section, there's a lot of ROMs in there. We don't have any comparison or debate thread about one guy or so doing a review or brief about each and every ROM. So all threads and posts like this one (about daily usage and so) will only have a statement about current status of the ROMs. The devs aren't magicians, and there will always work to do. Bugs to fix, and features to be implemented. Just be patient.
Right now I'm in doubt of which ROM should I choose, and I hope you guys could tell the difference between each ROM (there's almost 10 different in xda). These are the ROMs available and I really want to know which ROM should I choose. I've currently Lineage OS 14.1 installed.

Is anyone fed up of the 3T

Hear me out. I think the phone is amazing. The software is crap, now the 5 is out the updates have already slowed. Not to mention OOS is always behind on security.
Now custom roms. I appreciate highly the work so many devs have been doing especially sultan, lineage and paranoid. But theres always something thats a bit off, camera especially, lag etc. Always end up going back to OOS then get bored again, try roms again.
Is there anyone else like me who has had enough of being a crack flasher or gets bored easily and has just had enough of trying to find perfection from a oneplus phone ?
What do you want to hear? Need a confirmation for yourself to get another phone to make the step a bit easier?
Yes, I hate the manner of OnePlus to not even fix a single thing, like the implementation of the Camera2 API. Sure, they lied to us more often than we want. But what company does the job better?
If you want to get a new phone: Fine. I'm also looking for a replacement. But I'm looking for phones for weeks or months, so I'm sure, the phone is good enough and beloved by devs. For me, no OP-device anymore. But really fed up? No.

I dont meed a confirmation from anyone. Ive made a topic for discussion. For instance i have a oneplus one as well ae my back up. There is more stable nougat roms on that, a 3 year old phone than there is on the newer higher spec 3t. Phones are getting ridiculous. What the hell is with these curved screens now so no tempered glass fits properly.
The next phone i get needs to be something that will have good support. Preferably from a company who releases camera sources
LAG on OP3T? wtf :0
I agree with you, I dont like OOS but i love custom roms and PA is perfect, its so smooth and optimized and their camera software is on par with OOS cam

Honestly stock is the best for this phone by far. Set it up right and its the fastest phone out there. Are you talking about screen lag or application lag?

Ah! I am defeateddddd! Pa had application lag. For instance it opens but messages would appear after lag and same with settings. Stock is better but i hate the delay in updates that dont fix basic bugs or update security.
My 2 cents; OOS continues to be good enough I don't even bother to unlock anymore. I was a Nexus fan for sure, but the 6P was my end of the line (yeah yeah, end of the line anyway). I had numerous issues and it finally got the bootloop problem that was plaguing many users. I got a used replacement, sold it and never looked back from the 3T. I tried most roms for the Nexus lines and while many were excellent, it was always something. When I got the 3T I decided to just leave it stock for a week and have not looked back. I get at least 2 days from it, it charges insanely fast, have had no lag/reboots/lockups, nothing. I would say I'm a fairly normal user except no social media really, privacy and all.
I keep a tab on what's new and as of today, nothing at all has tweaked my interest. Samsung/Motorola/HTC = never, too bloated. Pixel = too expensive.
I do feel the security updates are a bit slow and some additional OOS goodies would be nice, but for the price, for me it's hands down still the best phone.
Stock is the best rom, ftw

I hear you and agree with all of it. Problem with oneplus now is couple more years it will be on par with samsung pricewise. Then what? The bloated huawei honor line.
Sultans and PA are the best custom roms but they are not without their bugs.

Didn't we get like 2 betas already since the 5 is out? Also, custom roms have issues on EVERY phone. You won't find a phone where a custom rom works 100%.

I don't know and I don't care to be honest. The stable version of OOS is an inferior version of the beta at this point. The beta is 100% stable in my experience and offers more features than the stable one as you've said.

Wlan signal quality is very bad with mine.
Noticeable in many games, when it is endlessly stucked until the it the signal gets through again.
With 4G there is 0 problems, it's only this weak Wlan module, it's getting on my nerve.

Recommend me a ROM

Hello XDA
I know there is no such thing as the best ROM but I was hoping to do a little cheating and save my self some reading and get some opinions on what would fit me the best.
I use my phone as a business phone and thus my battery is dying constantly. I got ALOT of SMS and my phone is constantly slowing down. I want something that won't seem like a old device.
I want to root to install a new ROM and battery tweaks. Here are my requirements:
MUST be stable
Smooth
Good battery life
I want something I don't have to constantly tweak. With my note 4 I essentially changed so much that at the end it became such a nuisance trying to keep modding etc. I want to set this up and forget about it, unless needed.
Thanks !
Use Paranoid Android 7.2.1
Vertex OS

I understand where you are coming from, but from a practical point of view, if someone recommended a ROM, you may find your experience different from theirs. Happens all the time. Second, it's a good idea to read first. I just got this phone. All I have done is read threads here at xda. Not even so much ROMs, but reading about the phone. This step alone has saved me from myself in the past. Makes it easier to troubleshoot problems.

I agree. I have tested enough roms to conclude that for the 3T there's no point in trying to find something better than stock
Perhaps only something purely based on oxygen os, but more debloated, like freedomOS
basically it doesnt matter, 99% is all placebo.
TugaPower is out-of-box really good, which is LineageOS with some small mods (Viper4Android Audio mod ie.)

Beta with Magisk for root and a kernel of your choice. Get some performance and battery benefits from the kernel (if that's the type you decide to flash). Debloat it. Use Greenify and BetterBatteryStats to eliminate wakelocks.

I guess stock is the best choice here for you. It has no additional battery hungry features like viper but is still stable. You may consider flashing a kernel instead and I would hardly recommend you to read into them since that's the best way to get to know to new kernels.

I would say oos..if u want a flawless stock experience with better battery life, use freedom os..
I personally use oos open beta 12( rooted with magisk) with elemental x kernel..it gives me good battery and flawless performance..apps like substratum and viper 4 arise works fine..
Thanks for all the replies. I tried out RR and had an issue with the WiFi dropping - since this was a business phone I decided not to flash a custom ROM. I am now on OOS open beta, the latest one. Loving the parallel apps feature!
Now to get into theming and modding. I've got the basics down already like greenify, BBS.
Any recommendations on rooted apps? What have I missed in the last year or so

You have an ORD as much of us here. The only cure (if there's such thing) is using an apple phone. Many already did that, but after some time they bought again an Android. What I do, I use only Los currently Los 17.1. No major bugs, a good daily driver. I can't use anything than aosp for much time, in this case miui ROMs. At the time the devs abandon this device you probably already bought alot of other devices, so don't bother about ROMs support for this device. Check for help here instead.

Question Running OxygenOS 13

Since it release i'm debating of installing it, the bugs that are currently known don't bother me at all except for the system performance. If anyone is runnIng the DP could you share your experience with me and the rest of the community? I'd love to hear about new bugs and if it's stable for daily driving (just want to make friends jealous but don't fancy switching the whole time)
No it is not stable and not intended to use it as a daily driver so avoid it. Btw it is Oxygen OS 12.1 based on Android 13.
I think it's probably a solid alpha at this point, unless you're happy with a tonne of faults I wouldn't avoid it.
Really strange that they're releasing this now when we barely have a way back..
If MSM drops (they know we use it) then yep go nuts.
I wouldn't unless you have a solid recovery method lined up.
Also bare in mind, you'd be downgrading when recovering too.

That's a Developer Previe, that's expected to be unstable and contain bugs. I would not install on my main driver. Also, you'll be expected to factoryr eset your phone once the actual Beta and/or stable will be released,
