tried several different distro's and stopped at MX-21, does what i need

Ok, here is the deal. I have 3 tilts that have all been edwith different roms using the same computers (3 to be exact) in the past. Now none of the phone can get a usb connection no matter which of the three computers I used. I have tried alternating each phone with each computer but still no results. I did the soft to hard resets. Installed new drivers on PC's and no change. Toggle the usb-PC connection check box...I mean everything. Can someone help thru this?
Thanks for taking the time to view my issue.
Lets start from the beginning
My 8925 has been Hard SPL'ed and SIM/CID Unlocked and the first rom i loaded on to it is Phoenix Development Team's PX 2.3.2109.2g
All was well and i was the happiest little boy who ratted on iphone owners.
Then i damaged the USB/Sync port by jamming my stylus in it looking for the reset button. I had the port replaced yesterday and it's charging fine the issue is every time i connect it to my XP based PC i keep getting USB unrecognized errors.
I've been spending the past two three hours messing around with settings and over a few dozen forums looking for a solution. Here's what i have done so far:
Hardware
- Attempted to sync my device on 3 different computers, 2 use XP, the other Vista. One system gives me the 'USB deviced unrecognized' error the others dont but do nothing to indicate they recognize the device
- Used over 4 different USB to miniUSB cables with no success
- Tried all the different USB ports on all 3 machines
Software
- Messed around with the connection settings in an attempt to get it to sync with no success across all available computers
- Done several hard resets to restore the OS to factory settings
- Preformed a mini-sd rom flash to the shipped factory version of Win Mobile 6.1
- Shut down firewall/antivirus programs that might be blocking the connection
After all the stock rom flashes and hard resets i've done the Phoenix OS's loading screen (shows Rom, radio, and protocol version) always appears then regular factory windows pops up. Not sure if this is an issue or not.
Is there anything else i'm missing or other steps to help me determine if i need to change a few more settings or call the guy that did the repairs and ask him to reinspect his work?
Thanks
A few days I ago I noticed that when I plug my phone into a computer using a real usb cord (the main one I use at work supplies only power, no data) my phone doesn't come up in the Win7 explorer as a drive, and when I try to mount it so I can transfer files, nothing is displayed. This was a problem when I was running CyanogenMod 6.1 RC.
I tried resetting to factory defaults, formatting the sd card, and have now installed CyanogenMod 6.1. All to no avail. I've tried it on two separate Win7 pcs, but don't have ready access to an XP machine.
Anyone else experience this? I've had to resort to sharing files over bluetooth; which, wile doable, is not very fun when you're transferring a 50mb ROM.
Here's a helpful hint

Here is a thread I started about it:

I couldn't fix it and had to exchange it.
I'm starting to wonder if it CM doing it in some way.
Thanks, I tried to find another thread about it but didn't see this one.
Cool notice at the top of this forum:
PLEASE POST "Questions" and "Non ROM developement" THEADS IN THE CORRECT FORUMS

After installing CM6 somewhere in the beta process I lost the ability to use ADB, I have tried on 3 different computers and all hang at waiting for devise. I have tried several methods posted on these forums and none have worked.

Hmm, that's interesting. Which drivers were they? And would you be able to post them somewhere? I have some files from playing with my Hero but not sure if I have all of them.
I have the same problem. I just flashed to CM6.1 about a week or so ago and had NFX for a week or so before that. Didn't have a problem before either of those and I am not sure when it stopped working.
Not a huge deal since I can just pull out the SD card and go that route.
Same Deal Here
I do have access to a Windows XP machine. I am going to reinstall drivers again and see if that works. No reasonable explanation for this occurence. I tried different cable, different pc's, even different sd cards. Once I had a corrupt sd card that was causing issue. I can charge the phone fine, just no data and I upgraded to cm 6.1 final. Last night I finally got the 2 computers to recognize device and unknown usb device.
What's your primary os????

Hey folks. I'm having a real hell of a time trying to figure out what going wrong in my attempts to recover my i896.
I can't seem to install the 64 bit drivers on my Win7 machine, nor can I get the computer to register the phone as a drive to which I can move files.
I'm stuck with a blank phone right now, and have been for two weeks, waiting on a jig in the mail. Now I have the jig, allowing me to put the phone in download mode, but I'm still stuck. I'd really like to fix this issue tonight, if anyone can help out. Thanks for any thoughts.
I've tried multiple USB ports, plugging things in different orders, and I've tried a couple different links to what I assume are the same drivers. I'm really hoping I don't have to send this in to get repaired.

I've seen a few people have the same problem with 64 bit machines, If you can find someone running XP and do on that machine. I still have my old XP box around just for these situations.
And until last month, I would have too. ~LOL~ I bailed on XP for this new 7 box. What about if I run in XP compat mode?
No go on the backwards compatibility mode. I tried those alternative drivers from softpedia to no avail also.
I'm starting to panic a little now. Have I boned my phone in it's little earphone hole?
i have several win7 64 bit machines working just fine. used the drivers from the Odin One Click thread.....
if you cant use those, then use AIO captivate toolbox with heimdall
The Toolbox drivers claim to have installed properly. I'm unplugging the phone, rebooting the computer, and trying Odin again. Hopefully this will work. FYI: I'm supposed to be in Download mode for Odin, right? The jig I bought puts the phone into Download mode, with an Android mopping.
Progress in Driver Installations!
Okay . . . I've finally found a little success here. The drivers have been successfully installed and I'm getting a happy sound when I plug the phone in instead of a confused sound. It says the device is ready to use instead of failed to install.
I got this success using the Toolbox. I installed the 64bit drivers from there. Thanks for the advice!
Hi.
I've just migrated to Linux Mint 16, MATE release (based on Ubuntu), from Windows 7 ultimate. I also have experience from Windows Server systems, but Linux is something else!
I know next to nothing about Linux but I really want to continue running this system on my laptop. I have a dual-boot setup at the moment, but I almost never use Windows. This system feels nice, it works very well and fast. I have a desktop computer still running Windows 7 ultimate so I'm not completely lost when the need to running Windows software is to great to ignore - but I can't be the only one running Linux here.
I have tried running PC Companion through Wine. It didn't work out. It just crashed. Error on error.
Does anyone have some experience I can benefit from, so I can use PC Companion under Linux?
Unfortunately, it's not going to happen under wine. You can set up a virtual box for windows if you insist on staying in Mint. Fortunately, you have a dual boot system. Even if it's the only thing you use windows for you'll still need windows to use it. Also, linux does not support media transfer mode so make sure you have selected settings>xperia>usb connectivity>usb connection mode>mass storage mode for sd card access.
Welcome to Linux! While you may have to work to accomplish certain goals, you now have ultimate freedom! Ubuntu/Unity have made incredible movement in the past few years and would be worth checking out...
