Hello all,
I searched on the forum if there is any post about the pocket mode for the Xiaomi 11T Pro and I didn't find any.
Actually, when I put my phone on my pocket faced to my thigh it just do some clicks (yes, I turned on double click to turn on) but normally it shouldn't wake the screen when it's on the pocket !
I had a Pocophone F1 (on MIUI 12) and I have an option Pocket mode where I can enable the option don't wake the screen when it's on the pocket, but I didn't find the same option in the parameters in my Xiaomi 11T Pro.
Thank you.
Any solution for pocket mode??
There's none. There is no proximity sensor in this device. Selfy camera handles it's function when in call. If double tap to wake is turned on it wil wake the device while in pocket. Nothing should happen as you need to enter pin or pattern to actually unlock the device. Just remember not to leave any media player widget on in the notification panel as it wil start playing randomly. Or you can just turn off double tap to wake.

Hi,
Im wondering if there is any option to wake up screen when locked other than using sleep button , i mean something like double tap the screen or touching the finger print sensor...
Thanks
Latter works.
Inset up pick up to wake and face recognition swipe to unlock. So whenever I pick up the phone I see the notifications and can swipe them away without unlocking the phone.
Awesome
My K20 pro (CN) is taking photos and videos in pocket, changing music, trying to unlock phone, all on its own.
I have pocket mode enabled, double tap enabled and finger print unlock enabled. I have wake up for notification disabled.
Obviously the pocket mode isnt working properly because touch shouldn't work at all when its in pocket.
I checked my proximity sensor in engineering mode, its fine.
Any solution please? Its impossible to use it like this in outdoor.
I did some basic tests.
I turned the phone off, then covered top of the phone with my hand.
Double tap: wakes up the display but instantly turns it off. That split second of active time is enough to trigger other actions.
Finger print: Still works and unlock the phone perfectly.
So pocket mode is broken. When pocket mode is activated, touch should not work at all.
Works fine on the indian ROM. Chinese rom is junk IMO based on the 7 days I was forced to use it for.
Can you please test it and confirm on indian rom?

I've used Indian ROM since realise and never had any issues that you face whilst being in my pocket or bag
Update: for anyone else experiencing same issue.
If you directly put your hand on top of the earpiece area, touch doesnt work, as it shouldnt.
If you keep your hand even just little from the earpiece area, touch works again.
I put my phone in my pocket with upside up and downside down, so I can connect my earphone jack on top. If you use earphone outdoor you would probably do the same (unless u have an external dac/amp/bluetooth).
The thing is, my pocket isnt too deep and my guess is the earpiece area get some gaps.
It should be fixed, but I doubt if it will be.
I have a Mi 9T Pro with MIUI 11.0.3.0 Since I updated, I have problem with pocket mode. When I wanna unlock my phone with fingerprint scanner on turned off screen (It's important), I usually get the "Don't cover the earphone area" message for 2 sec, and after this disappears. Today I realised that It happens every time when I turn off the screeen in a lighter place or room, and after unlock in a dark or darker place. Can somebody check this problem on his/her own phone? I'm interested in about this is my own problem or It's a MIUI 11 issue.
There aren't any TG or screen protector on the phone.
I have the same problem. To bypass i have disable pocket mode from ambient display setting. Hop xiaomi fixes it
Turn off pocket mode in Redmi K20 Pro/ Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
1) Go to Setting
2) Scroll and search for keyword *Always-on display and lock screen*
3) In this section scroll down until you find pocket mode..turn it off.
It works for me..try it
It happens of you are in a dark room and too close to the earpiece with you body or objects (to me it happens a lot in the bed since I like to stay under the sheets)
Hi there,
Tap to wake is a neat feature but I find myself waking up my phone too often by mistake, so I tried to figure out a way to get the old double tap to wake back, but couldn't find out how.
I guess it must be implemented into custom kernel ?
Any advice would be appreciated !
Same, I had to turn this off b/c my phone kept waking in my pocket and changing songs.
I noticed too sometimes my phone wakes up in y pocket, coming from OnePlus it surprised me cause I'm used to have pocket mode. Hope there will be a workaround later.
I replaced the Pixel Launcher with Nova Launcher. Light years better. While there is no double tap to wake, you can double tap to lock the screen then just use the fingerprint reader to unlock the screen. Since owning the OG Droid long ago it seems, I have yet to find a home launcher better than Nova. Worth every penny.
Double Tap - Apps on Google Play
Easy to turn on/off screen without power. Not affected to unlock by fingerprint
play.google.com
Works perfectly on Pie.
As for Q...? Give Google time and they will screw up anything and everything.
I use NovaLauncher too and all my devices for years now. I love it.
But that's not what me and OP are complaining about. We want to double-tap the screen while the phone is laying a table and have it wake up to lock screen. Picking it up and using the fingerprint sensor on back doesn't help.
Lift to Wake works, but you have too, duh, lift it to wake it. We want the double tap for our fingers, but not erroneous dbl tap detections when phone is moving around in pocket or in my hand.
I can't tell you how many times music player skipped forward or back b/c or incorrect dbl taps, waking, and then more taps from my pocket contents or whatever.
I'm using OnePlus launcher port as I'm used to it (and I love the gesture to access hidden apps from app drawer, asking for fingerprint).
And I'm happy with it, I use Gravity box so I can turn the screen with double tap on status bar.
For now I disabled tap to wake, and I use tasker to turn on always on when there's an incoming notification, so that I don't have to wake my screen just to check if there's something new.
I'm confident someone will give us a custom kernel allowing double tap to wake someday !
Seems like there's something wrong with proximity sensor, I noticed that after trying to play with proximity sensor in tasker, it always return 5cm.
Updating to February build did not solve the issue, that could be the reason why there's no pocket mode.
Anybody else with this problem ? (There are several apps that can read sensors and check for proximity one.)
Did anyone ever figure this out. I really like the double tap to wake so I just tap my phone while it sits on table to wake. I never had an issues w/tapping to wake before (LG v35, etc) and I now realize why it is a huge problem for myt 4A 5G -- stupid Google make it tap to wake, not double tap. For me, this cause constant waking and then irritating unwanted activity (music changing, podcasts stopping) while my phone is still in my pocket. Arrrrg.

If your phone wakes up in your pocket, you must have a problem with proximity sensor, i had to remove my screen protector because of that, and now, no more accidental wake up while in the pocket (but i still miss the double tap to wake).
Hi,
I own a Redmi Note 9 (MIUI 12.5.1.0 (RJOEUXM)) and I have a problem with the proximity sensor.
I can't tell if it's the same problem as everybody (due to MIUI) or it's due to some 50 cm fall on a wooden surface (phone inside original silicon cover).
My question is this:
How can I disable this sensor, if I don't have the option in the 'incoming calls' menu?
Is there another way? A key sequence or code or something?
Thanks for sharing info!
PS
Behavior of problem:
1. When phone ringing at incoming calls I don't get the full screen anymore. I have only the short version of incoming calls on the top of the screen.
2. When answering the phone, my screen goes dark and can't see anything, can't bring the light back on, double tap or main right button won't wake the screen up.
3. In the CIT tests, I get 0.0 reading on the sensor. Only in one position, with the front camera in full sun, I get 5.0
4. When the phone is locked, double tap on screen does only a quick flash to show the screen and then goes back dark.
Pocket mode is disabled.
