Seriously OnePlus ? When do we get src we can build? · Issue #4 · OnePlusOSS/android_kernel_msm-5.10_oneplus_sm8450
Lo and behold the Android 13 kernel source still doesn't compile. Several different reasons for it: the building system is picking the wrong .config fragments or rather the incomplete ones because ...

There's fantastic news
There is still hope for OnePlus 10 pro development! Nice to hear
I love to see it even donate if needed
I'd donate
wow nice, good news
Need to get a buzz going about this.
Share it..
Last update was 20 days ago, so has everything been done already.
Think Luk needs to have a look. @LuK1337 any idea why there's been no uptake with the 10 pro? The hardware is superb.. I know you've got the knowledge and talent, I / we are just curious.
This phones crying out for a sniff of a ROM.
This could be the catalyst to opening the device up.
I feel like oppo has won if this becomes the first OnePlus device without a single ROM.
It'll be the death of the device i fear

Thanks for getting back, appreciate it.
Anything we can do?
Crowd fund at least a phone for a Dev? Donation based incentive with us as test monkeys??
Really annoyed I got this device, I miss my 8 pro

Haha. I think I'd be sceptical or pessimistic if I didn't already have the device..
I'm just thinking about the plethora of people who are about to sail through a quiet ROM scene, I've been here before and although it's a vital learning curve it's definitely a harsh lesson when you've expected and paid for more.
But I get you man, it would be lonely, although getting you on board would be a plus for any Devs on the fence (hence why I reached out)
It's your call man. I can kick off a crowd fund for a device if you fancy it.
All up to you mate.. I'll leave you with this sad eyed image of every 10 pro owner.
If we could raise the price of device then its a start, I can't think of a better Dev I'd want on board with this than you, an that's not me kissing bumcheek, I've seen your work.
Up to you bud.
I'm just trying to get things moving on this tub of lard... It could be brilliant im sure of it
I do not have a 10 Pro myself, so getting LineageOS on it is not a priority for me.
I can still do what I can to get it working though, but someone else will have to maintain it.
Here to show some love for the development around SM 8450 ! There are definitely a number of phones with this soc and I'd be willing to donate to see custom ROMs on the OP10Pro

If maintaining means sync up with lineage sources and build, I could do it but I don't have the habilities to build a device tree

me personally not willing to pay to edl bricks. OnePlus should at least give us the option to recover Edl bricks by ourselves for free like they used to do till 9 series.

This was the situation with Lenovo p2. But dev's eventually got in and now they have a great development curve.... the p2 users donated money for one dev to buy p2 for development and well. That was initiated by a user. And development kickstarted soon after.

But first, we need to organize users who would be able and willing to donate. Once enough people are there and we can figure out on total if the amount offered is sufficient enough, we can start contacting dev's. After we have a dev ready to help, then start pooling in money and purchase the set and send ot to the dev.

just a heads up. according to XDA rules. donation threads have to be created by the developer itself who is interested in the device development. he has to green lit such a thread with an XDA admin. if it gets created by forum users it gets closed pretty soon as it is against the rules.
so first step would be finding an recognized developer willing to spend his free time on the device.

two options comes to mind.
A: look into devs that were or still are maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon based) phones and might be interested in the A70.
B: look into devs that maintain a device that has the same SoC (or SoC family) as those devs will have less than half as much work (it does depend on how far the kernel deviated from code aurora code) to maintain a second device if they have already established the knowledge on the primary device.
E.T.A. Unknown..

The Operative Phrase Here Is: "Still Maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon Based) Phones".
In the U.S... Samsung Snapdragon devices have their bootloaders locked down.. ( Per Carrier's Request ) so you have Zero ROM Development..
IMO.. you have to love this device for what it brings to the table stock ( Widvine L1, Themes, AR Emoji, UI, Gaming etc ) just in case nothing Custom sprouts..

What's required to make developers work on the x2 pro?
I don't get it, why there isn't anyone paying attention for this device?
I guess many users are willing to fund this process.
I'm ready to donated
is there any developer working on our device for custom ROMs?
The phone is pretty much perfect, the only thing holding it back is color os
I have havoc os gsi right now on my device and I really think it would be great if a couple of things were added to it
-90 hz refresh rate
-face unlock and fingerprint unlock
-stock color os camera
-slight optimization for the animations
I believe this would be a perfect Rom if those were added to it
we need this badly
Giving up finger unlock is not acceptable in exchange with a decent software, this device is a true beast.
I came from pocophone using havoc, and i can't imagine using any other rom!
I guess we are stuck on colorOS for a long time..
Unfortunately, my dreams to see a PE ou havoc ROM are gone..
Stop crying there are people including me that donated money in order to have a developer make us ROMs and a good kernel because if it wasn't for the donators there is no way realme would have done anything there is a dev working join the telegram lobby of x2 pro official
I've searched threads. How can I participate in donation? I would like to have a custom ROM, so give a little donation it's a good thing to do.
Many people are willing to donate for custom ROMs,this phone is a step away from being perfect, best price best quality but a very bad software
Thinking the same as all of you guys. Where can we donate btw ??
I also want to donate... Just make this device super cool with custom roms... btw how to donate??

For those having trouble how to find the telegram groups:
Install Telegram application. Open the app > Tap on the magnifying glass icon on the upper right corner > write Realme X2 Pro Official > tap on the name of the group in the list > tap join > done!
Good luck. Check the group and messages before donating anything to anyone.
Just my opinion on the matter and not to curb anyones excitement but I won't hold my breath for a regular custom rom support because a) Realme is not a well known brand yet, unless Indian devs decide to do something I won't see this getting much progress, b) Realme and its owner Oppo are not custom rom friendly brands. I want to be wrong but my experience says otherwise.

WE HAVE REACHED OUR TARGET, THANKS TO ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO @B1||41DS

He is the Official AOSPA(Paranoid) Developer https://gerrit.aospa.co/q/owner:fabian.leutenegger%40bluewin.ch
His github: https://github.com/33bca
and also a Recognized Developer over XDA
Guys our device is short of pro developer who can develop device tree so we talk to a pro developer and obviously if he develop then he needs the device, if the fundraiser succeds can do wonder to our device
Please I encourage entire community to take it seriously and contribute to make this a successful one.
We must safeguard our development for both Willow and ginkgo.
Here's my donation
https://i.imgur.com/esdcydJ.jpg
Pls do any possible donation there is no minimum limit.
The RN8 community actually took a poll in the telegram groups to confirm members voluntary intentions to crowdfund the device to the Dev, and feedback was overwhelming. As we all agree and accept this voluntary step is crucial to rapidly and effectively grow development for RN8 device, we the community don't just want ROM, or Kernels but Bugless as possible through a real recognized Dev who knows his code, to be safe, secured with open source ethics at heart. I will strongly recommend and advice others members to actively join this cause and make it a success
Remember; It is voluntary and we are not forcing anyone
It's just my opinion but, every donation will return to community ×100000 in the form of rock solid, vivid and high quality development. No need to rip off anyone's pockets, if we do this in a spirit of collectivity. Thus said, lets put our alm on this effort.
Everyone should contribute for this because it make our redmi note 8 more stable on development.
The crowd funding has been a successful one. Thanks to all who donated their hard earned money in this cause and a special thanks to @b1||41ds for making this contribution successful.
Don't want to be rude but is there any progress being made?

Regarding v development? Yes. Wip on trees.
does dev still need donations cuz i will donate 7 cad if fundraiser hasnt reached its goal yet. edit: i didnt read the title
I'm not on the Telegram groups, so what I say might be irrelevant/obsolete, but woud you guys consider doing the same thing with developer @Dyneteve, if they do not yet have a willow or ginkgo device? I for one would be happy to contribute, as many kernel/device trees I've been looking at seem to come (more or less directly) from some of their work, and they're anyhow thanked in many ROMs I've been using.
What a successful fundraising it was ^^. I wanted to ask though are there now more chances for cameras to be fixed in android 10?
Thanks!

Not receiving push notifications is fatal... I think too
Probably an optimization for the game, but it's not necessary.
However, I like the hardware very much.

Kernel will not be released, at least for while you're alive.
I'm hating all of this so much, a simple file, they have to upload a single file, and after 26-27 days nothing to be seen. This is not the only issue, there is another one with the same answer. It is as if air came out of thei mouths
Im trying to ask myself why still they haven't upload the kernel source yet? There's so much hardware potential on the phone being hold back just waiting to get unleashed .
Hoping they'll released it this year together with others 865 devices

I see. Thanks for doing that. Hmmm this is frustrating and disappointing. I wish there's a link where someone can truly help us report them coz its hard to think I'll be spending my months with a closed source device. It's fine if they're consistent on the security patches and ota s, but thats not been the case. I'd be willing to take a 3rd of my money back as a refund FAK I WILL NOT BUY ANY BLACKSHARK PHONE AGAIN EVER.
The question here is whether there is a person named Jason.
I also contacted Global Support twice, and Jason took care of it all.
Only distrust remains.

Yes really good
Kernel! Kernel! Kernel! Custom Roms! Ahhhhhh! Kill me pls
I'm not sure but back on those days of Android 2.3.4, I used to successfully crossed ports official OEM firmwares from other devices with similar CPU/GPU. All that it need back then was a custom recovery of the port's recipient and a backup of the firmware we trying to port. I stopped playing around with my phones these passed few years, so I'm wondering if we could do that as well to the recent Android versions? I believed we have similar SOC/Android versions phones that's currently active in development. We already got custom recovery anyways.
I put in an email to Samsung Open Source to see if I could have the source code of the Tab S8+ (I didn't think to ask for the source code of the other Tab S8 devices at the time, but I will gladly ask for the other ones if they're needed.) so that maybe some development could be made on it (I'm not sure if development is happening for it behind the scenes or not. All I know is that I haven't seen anyone post anything in the development section). I'm not the most technically inclined, so I have not nary a clue of how important having the source code for a device is for development in terms of ROMs, kernels, recoveries, etc, but I'd like to think it's pretty important. If having it is an important step in having development start happening for the Tab S8 line of devices, then I will gladly link it. I'm currently downloading it as I'm typing this out. So, if you'd like it or need it for development purposes (or any specific files from the kernel, platform, etc), let me know, and I'll provide it as soon as it finishes downloading.
Edit: Update! The source code just finished downloading!
Edit 2: Turns out they gave me the source code for the april firmware update. So, it's not the absolute most up to date source code, but it may as well be as it seems that there isn't any available source code for the may firmware update, yet.
Edit 3: Finished uploading the source code. If you need it for development purposes, then here you go! Hopefully something cool will eventually come out of it! The file is super compressed and is around 6GB total once everything is extracted.
Edit 4: Now the source code of all three Tab S8 devices is here and available to download. I really really hope some new and awesome software development can happen now that the source code is available for all three Tab S8s. Regardless, here they are. Have fun!

I went here and sent them an inquiry specifically asking for the source code of the SM-X800 for developmental purposes and just wanting to know how it works (I can't develope for nothing, but I'm sure somebody would, and I genuinely would like to know how these awesome tablets work). I got pretty lucky with them responding so quickly. I sent them an email May 6 and they got back to me yesterday evening. I've heard the horror stories of people requesting source code and not getting responses for months or not ever, so I'm glad they got back to me in a few days and not just telling me "No".

Interesting, didn't know samsung gave out open source. But I understand why they do, so developers can test and such i guess
Interesting, @SavXL. I see now the site https://opensource.samsung.com/requestInquiry (or even https://opensource.samsung.com/) gives:
Sorry! We're doing some work on site.
Apologies for the mistake, but can you try to refresh the page? If that does not work,
try starting from the Homepage. We'll fix this as soon as we can.

I noticed that, lmfao. I was trying to see if maybe they've uploaded the source code for other Tab S8 devices, but then I saw that message pop up, and it's still there! I guess they must've started doing some server maintenance super shortly after sending me the source code. Considering myself even more lucky now all things considered! I'm going to set up a link to the source code so people will be able to develop off of it (and maybe we'll see our first post in the developement section) and I'll add it to my initial post.
Edit: Spoke too soon. Just checked those two links again and now they send me to the appropriate site. I'm not sure if any of the links on either of those two pages will give you that message again though.
Update! Just received the source code for the Tab S8 and S8U! I'm getting them ready for uploading as I'm typing this. Hopefully some new development will come from this as (at least to my knowledge) none has started just yet.

Is source code what's needed to say port Android 13 to the S8U?

I'd like to believe that's possible, yes. However, to port that to the S8U (or anyone other device, within reason) it'd need to be made to where it can be flashed via Odin or via TWRP if you don't happen to have access to a PC. However, to do the TWRP method, someone would have to make a working build of TWRP for the S8U (or other devices), which no one has done as of now. I could be wrong and someone could be making one behind the scenes, but I doubt that.
