Question Can I root my A33 without a cable? - Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

Hi, I had asumed that I would need a cable to connect my phone to my computer but I search the Magisk rooting guide and cannot find any mention to any cable:
Installation
The Magic Mask for Android
topjohnwu.github.io
The cable that came with the phone is USB-C to USB-C cable, and my computer does not have USB-C jack, so I guess I need to purchase a USB-C to USB-A cable.
In any case, just to double check: is rooting possible without the need of a cable?

Well, the simple fact that you need to flash it with Odin implies you will need a cable. So yes, unfortunately you do need one.

Without a cable
Hmm
Yes, It is possible
(Assuming that you have already unlocked your bootloader if not first watch a guide for it)
By tapping 7 times on build number in about phone section and then enable usb debugging and then wireless debugging (only for Android 11 or higher android version) and then setup adb and fastboot tools in your pc connect adb with ip/tcp (or with another android device using bugjaegar or LADB) then flash a custom recovery on your device then insta magisk app from the official github repo just rename Magisk.app to Magisk.zip and flash it by your custom recovery
Now all done you can enjoy magisk root on your device

Fastboot USB not detected

When I try to flash the boot.img by running the phone in Fastboot USB it does not connect with my PC. I have installed the latest version of SDK and the necessary files that need to be installed such as fasboot.exe, etc.
I had successfully flashed a boot.img before reformatting my PC but now the phone disconnects when in Fastboot USB mode although it can connect and is shown in Device Manager when inside the phone OS.

Well anyways it could be multiple things. It could be
1. You dont have proper drivers (but u said above you do with latest SDK and HTC Sync installed)
2. Broken USB port on computer
3. Broken mini HDMI port on your phone
4. Broken Cable.
You wouldnt by any chance be using PACman are you? I actually had some problems where my computer would not detect PACman in fastboot. If thats the case reflash PACman and try again. If that still doesnt work, then flash another ROM with full wipe, then see if it connects.

I was running PACman but after I installed the latest update for it my phone kept bootlooping so I am currently running CyanVivo X. It connects fine using the USB cable but it just doesn't connect when going into Fastboot USB.
I can also connect through the recovery menu with Clockwork Recovery.
You have to make sure whether your USB port is broken or the cable itself.

It is not the USB port or the cable because it works 100% fine when not in Fastboot USB. The phone connects perfectly fine within the ROM and in Clockwork Recovery but not in Fastboot USB. I am thinking that re-unlocking the phone may help.
EDIT: I was using a USB 3.0 port and that was the issue... For some reason it didn't like the USB 3.0 in Fastboot USB << Heads up for anyone else having this issue.

As I said in PM, you absolutely need a working usb connection. If you already tried everything suggested in our PM chat and what said in the previous post, I don't have any other ideas. Check your computer drivers, phone drivers. Make sure to connect your phone directly to your computer (do not se external usb hub/ports, use the ones that are soldered to your computer MB. Avoid usb 3.0 ports, use 2.0. Try with someone else computer...

Can I root my Note 9 withouth a pc?

Hello guys,
I think the charging port of my Note 9 is a little bit damaged, because I have tried multiple pc's and multiple cables and the phone will only charge and is not being recognized as a device on my pc's.
I would like to flash TWRP on my device to flash a custom rom after... But the official TWRP app in the Google Play Store is not showing an TWRP image for the Note 9 to flash.
Is there a possibility to get TWRP and eventually a custom rom on my device, withouth using a PC?
Any help would be appreciated!

no.
u cant use a an app that would theoretically need root to accomplish flashing a ccustom recovery on a non rooted phone.
regardless, u need Odin or heimdall or any app that can access the device via usb. search and read.
( u need samsung android usb drivers on the computer. )
Thank you for your reply.
I have used Odin a lot before for different phones. I've installed the correct drivers onto my pc's and used different kinds of cables to check if that was the problem, but the phone only goes into charging mode, when connected to a pc. I have read that a buggy charging port can actually cause that problem.
I think I do not need root to flash a custom rom. Flashing a custom recovery would be enough, I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. There is a mobile version of TWRP (the app) that could actually flash TWRP on a phone via the app. But the problem is that the TWRP app doesn't support the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
I'm trying to figure out if there is another way to flash a custom rom onto my phone. But I need a custom recovery for that...

im saying that ud need root if the twrp app could flash roms within android. which implies ud have gone through the rooting process which has to flash twrp. plus i think the twrp app is just a downloader more than anything else.
anyways can you get to dl mode?
put phone off , hold bixby and vol down and while holding down the 2 buttons plug the cable from the computer
phone should go to dl mode

Yes, I can get into the download mode without any problems. But connecting the phone to a pc only charges the phone and I can not get any other option. I even tried to press the notification in the statusbar where it displays that the phone is charging (connected to the computer). But there are no other options than charging unfortunatelly..

To rule out the charging port, grab the OTG USB adapter that came with the phone and see if you can get a flashdrive to show up in the phone.if you can't, the it's for sure the charging port .

Thank you for the suggestion! I tried it. It does recognize that there is a device connected. But it only let's it charge the USB and doesn't show up in the file manager. It definitely must be the charging port. Unfortunately...

There are no dumb questions I have tried to put it into file transfer mode, but the option isn't available when pressing the notification in de statusbar. It only shows that the phone is charging and the phone goes to the battery settings when pressing the notification.
Also, I've checked in developer settings, and I set the USB configuration to standard: File transfer.

What do you mean it doesn't turn on? You say you are able to get to recovery mode but if it doesn't turn on you shouldn't be able to do this.
reset the stock via adb cli

did you try to flash stock build via adb cli via flash_all.bat(windows) for ./flash_all.sh(Mac). except this time let it finish. if you can get into recovery this should work. just make sure you have installed your android drivers first. once in recovery try to see if device is connected via fastboot devices command. then try the flash_all command. I usaully dump the firmware in the same directory as the platform-tools and just rename it to something like platform-tools - razor Firmware build and make another for kernel build. since I have multiple andriod devices it helps to keep them separate.
op, can you access bootloader? if so, all you will need to do is find a USB C adapter that wont be picky with flashing and flash the stock firmware. The included USB C to C does not work for this (in my experience.) The USB C to C adapter I found worked for flashing for me is: https://www.amazon.com/Blackweb-3-Foot-Charge-Cable-Connector/dp/B07SG7P3KZ/
we need more details to accurately assist you op!
