Question is there a dedicated guide to switch from carrier firmware - OnePlus 10 Pro

I was doing some digging but didnt see a dedicated guide to switch from carrier branded firmware to OP branded.

Of sorts yes there is.. But it's never been laid out perfectly... There's several threads, each with varying degrees of success

To keep the forum cleaner, and to point you to the relevant information sources, so you know a good place to start digging (and there is LOTS of info). What will you do from there is up to you.
The Wiki, section "root", will answer most if not all of your questions.

If you are planning on using it on AT&T, you will never get anything better than edge speeds due to carrier specific hardware. If you are going to buy an N1, I would suggest you buy the one that has the AT&T 3G bands.

there is an ATT 3g version you could have looked for too.
anyway, just do one thing to it: fastboot oem unlock.

Looking into the future?

XDA has become part of my morning routine now days. Getting up, eating and checking to see if any breakthrough came with the Sprint G4. I may just be blind, however I don't see anything coming soon. Granted it's a /newer/ phone which plays a huge role. Anyways does anybody know of anything relating to what's going on with the Sprint G4 rooting process or possible new ROMS that may be coming out if I didn't see a root already available?
Note: I'm also not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this but I know my fair share.

Thank-you for the link! After I posted this I found another thread where a few developers have managed to get root with all carriers however it isn't necessarily the "easiest" way to succeed in their efforts. They just don't want so many bricked phones which I understand. However, thank-you again!

Sprint G4 is already rooted, and chances of bootloader unlock are slim to none.

Note 8 Snapdragon - Unlocked Bootloader

Quick question. I know there is a roundabout root method for Snapdragon with SamFAIL, but I am curious if anyone is still working to acquire an unlocked bootloader for Snapdragon, for the full root/recovery experience?

It's simple, take a look at what has been done for current & past Galaxy S Snapdragons. Note phones follow just like the SamFAIL method. There's a reason why people go through the trouble of getting Exynos.
If a method happens to be found/released you will easily find it in a search or quickly in the development section cause it will be big news. Search does work well, if you don't find a method, it's cause it doesnxt exist yet. I personally doubt it will ever happen. The Note 8 is the first time I ever went with an international model for the very same reason.

Wasn't asking if it existed yet, already knew that. As mentioned, anyone with a brain does a search prior to asking to see if it exists first. I was asking if it was still being worked on. Is there any possible way to get Exynos version to work on Verizon?

For anyone without a brain.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/6801?query=snapdragon bootloader
I'll post a real answer being that all the jerks seem to be chiming in. There has not been an unlocked bootloader on a Snapdragon Samsung device since the Note 4. That was kind of a unique situation because there were Developer's devices floating around at the time. It's never impossible for it to happen, but it is super unlikely for any exploits to allow an unlock at this point. I would even go as far to say that it is almost impossible being that most developers opt out of even owning Snapdragon Samsung devices now and there is likely only maybe a handful of people working on it at best.
To all the "use the search button" people, why not just ignore the post if you don't want to answer it? There is nothing to be gained by being a jerk.
The REAL answer is like @jal3223 says. There are a couple of us working on it. I think like 3...
Is there an Exynos variant that works on Verizon?

It's cause of inability of people like you who do not seem to understand the simple fact that us versions of recent galaxy series have not had any unlocked bootloaders. But unlike any one, you choose to ignore the fact to do some basic search in xda or any other forums. If you feel you are technically sound and smart you should have bought yourself a non snapdragon variant and live happily. Also the dev forum section for note8 has the same q answered multiple times over and over again. Try to keep your pants on before being a sissy to others and ask meaningfully. Peace.

Your so disgruntled. This is not a big deal. It's really not. Dude didn't even ask if it was unlocked, but if it was still being worked on. Which is a legitimate question, even after using the search bar. C'mon guy, stop getting upset, and let's all have some pizza!!!
I appreciate all the REAL answers from those that responded! Glad to hear somebody is still trying, and understand it's a very long shot, but figured since there was a quick root method, maybe there a better chance of unlocking with this Note model.
myechophone may not have found a way to unlock the BL on the Note 8, but he has discovered a way to give himself a period every month, and he is on it right now. Best to ignore him while he has a hormonal meltdown about the forum search.

Well the "quick root method" took advantage of the fact that the s8 and s8+ are very similar firmware and hardware wise. Therefore we were actually looking for exploits for 3 devices at once. It was first found to be working on s8. Then we tested on N8. Sure enough it worked. At that point I had been working on root for N8 for almost a month straight(got my phone early)
Sorry new here.. So am I to believe there is a root method for Carrier unlocked version snapdragon Note 8? If so what is it and does it trip Knox? Sorry for the dumb questions.

For the US 950U and 950U1 snapdragon there is no root for the May update. That is bootloader revision 4 and has no root at this time. Your best bet is to keep a eye on the samfail thread for updates.
If your past U3 were sol for now. I think theres only one guy working on a possible partial root. There are lots of apps for theming. Substranium and Good lock are great.

Dude.
Just search around.
Don't give us the 'lmao such a good community, how about you go and suck it because I don't want to research' attitude.
It's not our fault you couldn't be bothered to check for any activity and read around.
Plus people are tired of having others ask the same question hundreds of others have asked related to root, it's all about searching or reading.
Don't you think if someone found a way to root the newest firmware there would be a lot more sites talking about it?
Sarcasm aside, no, there is no root for Oreo Bootloaders (U4). Only Nougat with U3 or below.

If YOU read above I said that I didn't see any kind of activity. Another one is that if you read more down below, I stated that all I could find is a SamFail one but it's pretty outdated. So I came here to the Questions & Answers area and posted this thread here to see if anyone had an idea of whats happening with the US models

The thing is theres not much firmware differences between models. They might have slight baseband changes but they're all based on the same thing. So root that would work on a Verizon Note8 would work on a T-Mobile Note8.
And yes, the only one we have is sadly the V3 for those unlucky to update.
And I imagine people would check the last section of the thread to be on standby since apparently theres a new exploit that might (or might not) help.
This is why I assumed you didn't check first, but since you did (I didn't see that part), I apologize.

You switch phones a lot too? Same, heh. Went from having a Note 4 to iPhone 8 Plus, then Note 8, then iPX, then back to Note 8 (cause drawing), but to be fair, I do miss a little of Apple.
To be fair, it's not dead (yet) since the Oreo update landed pretty recently, plus the only tool we had for making it possible got executed pretty much, so I'd give it a little time.
And that search feature situation is a fair point.

Yeah, I have had literally all flagship phones by now except for the Huawei P20.
Last Apple Device I had was the iPX, very good device but the atmosphere of the OS makes it pretty boring to me and get bored at it pretty quickly has you can't make any changes to the look of it.
I got this Note 8, exchanged it for my iPX. The guy that maked the deal with me gave me around 200 bucks and the Note for the iPhone lol.
I love the Note 8, super fast and love the big screen.

Why is there only ONE Galaxy Note 9 forum?

I assume this thread will be moved and if it is, then no problem.
I'm coming off of a Galaxy Note 4, whenever my 512 GB Galaxy Note 9 variant actually arrives later this month.
For the GN4, the forums are laid out a little bit differently. The Main GN4 forum and then for carrier specific variants. I also always thought it was confusing how Developer Editions were also lumped into the same areas.
With the GN9, I'm noticing chatter between the two different processors in the same area: Snapdragon and Exynos.
Things like accessories, I'm going to guess, will apply to both models and all carriers, whereas, any "tools" or MODs/ROMs, will not. So, in otherwords, I'll have the T-mobile version, so it'd be nice to see any GN9 accessories and only any compatible ROMs/tools/rooting methods, if applicable. It is to my understanding that such is not possible on this variant...at least, not yet.
That said, any chance the structure of the GN9 area of the forums might be changed up a bit in the future?
Look at the other forums and you will see your answer.

It because most things are the same between the versions (even more so when sperated to Qualcomm and Exynos).
But yeah probably because of your reasons. Which is funny since even with all the "confusion" you're still here, must not be that confusing.
i hope they never ever ever ever split by carrier again. its the most retarded thing ever and it dosent even cover all carriers.
By cpu YES
By carrier NO
carrier split causses
duplicate threads and topics. less visibility for cpu specific questions and so on.
if you have carrier specific comments or irritations etc, take it to your carriers forum so they can acctualy hear about your concerns and maybe do something about it!!
It took a while with the Note 8 and Note 7 to create the carrier specific threads. What the hold up is this year, I don't know.
It was done to help the moderators as the carrier threads rarely seen any action in last few years....Every one posts in the regular threads any ways and it became to much to move it all

I've seen similar discussions on other sites, there's pros & cons either way.
Just about all differences can be cured by using the search feature, regardless of how the device forum is set-up.
I just prefer to read about threads that only pertain to my variant, that's how it is with the GN4 forums. For the most part, Accessories and general discussions are all the same, but obviously rooting and ROM usage differs. The Verizon VN4 forums weren't perfect, because it included the Dev Ed, but root was later obtainable so it ended up being ok. Hopefully the Tmo GN9 at see point gets root but I don't have high hopes. It's just a little frustrating having all of these non Tmo threads dangling in my face, talking about root. I feel like a hungry dog being denied a bone. Lol

are you aware that US carriers all have snapdragon chip for a while now. When and if root comes, it won't be for a specific carrier but for that snapdragon cpu.
the threads you are reading are from the exynos cpu variant. the quicker you realise this the quicker you will turn from an animal to a sentient being...
I sort of know how that works. VZW had a bootloader lock, that was exploited by a CID, I think. Can't remember the rest of the root process, it's been awhile. So now that I'm on Tmo, I assume there could be carrier related locks on the bootloader as well, much less anything related to snapdragon.
