Phone been using for 2 weeks now first week battery was horrible getting only 3 hours of SOT per full charge and now i get around 5-6 hours per full charge with medium use(tiktok and playing Clash of Clans)
that said i notice cpu usage around 30% and gpu around 10% when in tiktok which shoudn't even get the phone hot but somehow it ends up hot and battery drains super fast is there any fix since this battery life is just like my 4 year old phone which was one of the main reasons to change

QHD+ 120hz are my settings
A lot of social media crapware. I never allow that on the phone. They eat battery and have a huge potential as a security risk. If I can't access/login to a site through the browser, I don't use it.

Trust me tiktok is a massive drain. It's horrifically intrusive, yes I know it has its moments.. But it's basically spyware for China.
5-6 hours is probably totally normal.
I've got a list of things so I'll attach below ...
if you follow half of that then you'll improve your battery massively.
The first thing I'd change is QHD you honestly do not need it, even 720p would look adequate on a 6 inch screen, my nebula mars 2 pro is 720 and even at 120 inches looks like HD, so being able to see the difference between 1080p and 4K is indistinguishable.
Here's the tips.
Change 5G to 4G
Remove Facebook use web based
Remove Facebook messenger use web based
Remove Twitter use web based
Remove any ad based apps pay for the pro version
Turn off gestures like lift to wake
Change from QHD to FHD (No difference)
Allow auto brightness
Turn off WiFi overnight
Turn all updates to manual not auto (play store)
Remove any so you don't use
Change back up to once a month (WhatsApp)
Turn off location history (Google)
Use titanium to remove any system apps you don't need
Don't allow anonymous usage statistics for any app ever.
Don't allow tracking cookies on any website
Use adaway (root needed)
Don't open web pages in Google app (I use Samsung browser)
Don't use xposed.
If you game you will not get high SOT scores, period.
Don't bother with battery saving apps or monitoring apps.
Streamline your apps, if you don't use it, remove it.
Don't allow WiFi scanning (as in letting other apps use it when it's not on)
Never allow personalised ads.
Never allow notifications from websites
Always decline cookies unless your absolutely have to allow some tracking (common sense prevails here)
Optimise as many apps as possible unless it affects performance.
Don't allow apps to remain open in the notification area.
Change your launcher, my preferred launcher is lawn chair and this did actually burn up some battery when compared to the OnePlus launcher.
Don't use live widgets (yes they look cool, but they annihilate your battery)
Live wallpaper, again very cool, but battery burners.
Again! Don't charge overnight, make a note of your percentage then see what it is in the morning, you shouldn't be losing more than 5% really, if you've done well then it'll be reflected here, the good SOT results will follow.
Turn off live read outs of network speed, RAM usage in the status bar.
Turn off NFC unless in use.
Leave location on in quick settings.
Don't overcharge your phone, IE: overnight
Don't allow your phone to fully deplete the battery.
Whatever anyone says, this does 100% damage batteries, there is no argument here and I won't entertain anyone who says otherwise, Ive seen through real life tests what this results in, bloated, inefficient, possibly dangerous lithium batteries.
Keep your phone out the sun.
Keep it out of extreme cold.
Keep your device clean dust free.
Snapchat, Viber, house party, apps like that tends to use more battery as they don't have great dormancy periods.
Apps like speed test by Ookla tend to have location tracking, similarly they tend to turn themselves on and off when they feel like it, my advice, install test and uninstall.
Allow a couple of battery cycles between tweaking sets, to give you an idea of how much of a difference you've made.
Use BBS to see what is being used, once you've removed problems, remove BBS.
I've just written this from the top of my head so o probably missed some things, the general idea is to keep your device clean and fresh, remove files you don't need any more.
Keep an eye on apps that misbehave or aren't wanted, index your folders so they aren't a mess.
The more good things you do means the more potentially bad apps you can have on your phone, eg if you really need Facebook, you could keep it so long as you clean up other areas of your phone.
Good luck.

Manual brightness. Keep at the minimum needed for best viewing. Keep under 50% except sometimes for vids.
As you said avoid using in direct sunlight. It kills the battery and display
Take out the trashware; no social media apps installed on the device. They are battery hogs and multiple vector security risks/holes. No.
Turn off Google Firebase.
This is normal for this device nothing to worry they are trying to give you a horrible android aosp feeling in a software what is not suited for it

Not sure where to begin with this, to put it plainly; You're wrong!
Doesn't matter what apps you have? That statement couldn't be more wrong, apps like Facebook, tiktok, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, they literally do what they want and more than likely have access to what they want. It's already been proven that tiktok is logging and lifting keystrokes, don't be a fool by thinking that they wouldn't do that or that you have some special degree of control, you don't..
FYI: I lose 0-1% overnight, idle during the day doesn't change unless I'm mobile in which case signal fluctuations and location spikes affect battery accordingly.
I can't decipher the rest of your message but it sounds like an angry mess.
Good luck with your future endeavours, my guess is you'll need them.

I just switched from having iPhones all my life to the Samsung s21 ultra thinking it was the best possible android phone to get but it’s literally uselsss. It goes from a full charge to almost dead after playing a game in about 2-3 hours. In comparison my iPhone 11 which I hadn’t charged in about a day than played the same game for about 6+ hours while having YouTube playing in the background still has enough battery to go on for hours. It literally goes from 100% to 95% just unplugging and looking at notifications… idk it seems I’ve made a huge mistake… I watched many reviews prior to buying it and they all said the s21 got hours of use before a charge.
my s21 spends more time charging than any actual use and I’m left with having to pull out my iPhone to play games and watch YouTube. Hell it’s charging right now and I’m writing this using my iphone…
is something wrong with s21 ultra or is this normal ?? Should I try to exchange it ?? I just got it like 5 days ago.
I charge mine once a day (at night while I sleep). And average 5-6 hours of SOT... Great battery life IMO.
You're burning up your battery.
2-3 hrs of high intensity gaming is a lot to ask from such a compact device. A least give a break every 15 minutes. Even watching vids I give my 10+ a break every 20-40 minutes even though it's using only 2-4% more power than when browsing the web.
The big question is how much battery is it using when idling and doing light tasks SOT?
Roughly...
Should be around 6%@hr
Browsing Brave 7-9%
Vids 9-11%
Screen off AOD always on, >1%@hr
Screen off AOD tap on >.5%
This is what a optimized 10+ is getting. Yours won't be the same but if there's a huge 10% SOT difference it's because there are apks sucking it dry. The AOD night rates should be very similar.
In fact the S21U with a 5000 vs the 10+'s 4300 mAh battery should do better. The S21U's memory is about 20% more efficient and the CPU should use less at idle. The wild card is Android 11 which I'm not found of, vs Pie with no scope storage. That said I think you should still be seeing similar run times.
What's eating the power? With Android you have options, many of them unlike plain Jane Apple*.
Is your screen brightness greater than 50%?
The display gets very bright and eats a lot more current as you go past 40%. It also wears out the AMOLED pixels a lot faster past 50% and maybe your retinas too.
Do not use in direct sunlight. Not only bad for the display but the sun's IR energy can overheat the little greenhouse phone rapidly.
AMOLED displays eat almost no current when black. Bright wallpapers do. Big bright icons do.
After the display consideration look for apks that are using too much and correct it.
Try disabling all power management for now except the display/power mode. Address each problem app separately and their dependencies.
You can use a Package Disabler to troubleshoot and kill bloatware and problem apps.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.
www.packagedisabler.com
Disable Google Firebase, and all carrier, Samsung and Google feedback. Disable cloud apps if not needed. Keep trashware like FB, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, etc off the phone. Privacy, security risks as well as battery hogs.
Use Karma Firewall to block internet access to apks and services that don't need it. It's freeware that uses almost no battery.
Use the native launcher, it's fast, very stable and very customizable.
That's just the beginning...
*stock Samsung's are the most customizable phones on the planet. Use the Galaxy Store themes and icon packs, hundreds of free ones.
Use the Good Lock family of customization apks.
Use Sound Assistant.
You can spend months playing with them alone.
I've used Apples and I hate them. They run well but are so limited compared to Androids. That plain Jane bores me to tears. Android are what you put into them. Nothing in, nothing out.
Play with it...

If you're unhappy with it, best to exchange it and go for the iPhone 12 Max. Especially if you are already comfortable with the apple ecosystem. There's no point being frustrated with your most used device, especially after paying top dollar for it. Personally, I would switch to an iPhone in a heartbeat if I thought they offered value for money (according to my standards) and if iOS allowed for a level of customisation I've come to love with Android. Biggest reason I can't do that is that I don't like Apple's way of doing things as far as software is concerned.
As far as poor SOT is concerned - 2-3 hours is indeed quite less, even with a game. In my experience, the S21U has pretty decent battery life (albeit not as great as my brother's iPhone 12 Pro Max), and it's in line (if not better) with other phones running the SD888 (very comparable to the E2100), but I haven't tested it with games.
Just curious, what made you switch over from a lifetime of iphones to the S21U? It'd be interesting to know an iOS users perspective.

Even the newer iPhones use an OLED screen. They too run on Li batteries. If the usage is similar on both phones, 2-3 hours should'nt be a lot to ask from either device, right? Clearly restricting or modifying the user's behavious to cater to a device's personality shouldn't be the solution.
I guess each of us have different priorities and expectations. Your preference seems to be to disable everything that make Android phones so great - dim the 1500 nit screen and don't use in outdoors? Stop playing an engaging game every 15 mins? I'm sure it works in your use-case, but not everyone spends $1000+ for a crippled phone.
Then there's the fact that you have an entirely differnet device with a two generation old OS and completely different hardware!
The OP asked if he should exchange his device, if the S21U wasn't living up to his expectations, given his background of lifelong iPhone usage. The discussion wasn't about how to change his phone usage habits and teach him how a phone should be "properly" used.
There's a whole gamut of metrics to look at here: 1) iPhone screen resolutions are nowhere close to S21U's, 2) iPhone 11 doesn't come in 5G but S21U does, 3) iOS games are far better optimized for the OS than Android's, 4) Screen brightness, 5) background activities.
It's easy to pass a judgement before considering all the factors. I'm justifying that the S21U is better than iPhone or vice versa but you need to consider a lot of factors before closing an argument...Just my 2 cents

I agree with everything you just said.
Each person has to decide what is more important for him/her and choose accordingly.
No single phone is 'best'.
We get the device we like and need, and choose which compromises we're willing to live with.
In my example, I can't stand iOS, so I choose to live with Android. And among all phones out there, the S21U is my device of choice, with all its good and it's bad. I wouldn't exchange it for any phone out right now. But that may not be the case with everyone. For the OP, if long hours of gaming is a requirement, then the Apple SOC and optimised games push the dial towards iPhone.
If your battery is draining that quickly, there's a good chance it is defective. Before jumping to this conclusion, I would reset the device, keep it clean for like a day to see if the drain is still present. It would help to disable things like GPS (amongst other things) to see how much charge you lose over a few hours. In my experience, not all batteries come out the assembly line at 100% health - the same way that some products have defects while others don't.
If you have the option, contact Samsung, notify them of your experience. I have seen reports of people getting excellent battery performance on this phone. I have used Samsung devices in the past where battery life was really good. I wouldn't be so quick to write them (or Android for that matter) off.
Hope this helps.
I don't game, but here is about an average day for me. I could easily get another hour of SOT out of this.

Solid, useful reply all around! Social media apps and google/samsung telemetry hurt your battery and privacy. After removing ones you don't need, you can use Blokada or another firewall to block trackers and ads from what remains. Tech tends to be better when kept simple.
My S10e gets around 6h SOT with most apps disabled through ADB, zero google apps except for play services, and F-Droid + open source apps for most things. I wish I could run a degoogled ROM with MicroG, but this setup is 80% of the way and Samsung's customization without root is solid.

Now that you're not roasting your battery continue pick away at the serial offenders.
Try to get the SOT in the 7-11%@hr range.
Remember to clear system logs and clear the system cache.
Global ad blocking?
Easiest way...
I get over 19 hours on a full charge and play lots of games. Go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Battery the touch the graph. That will show you which apps are using the most battery. Some games use a lot of battery up. And if you have Tiktok or Snapchat on your phone then those are known to cause battery drain.
Return the phone, 2 - 3 hours SOT is nowhere close to normal, even if you haven't optimized power consumption.
Any essential apps and games for rooted OP10 pro?
Grab some emulators, this phones SOC is amazing, so ps2 games are even working.

When I googled best apps for rooted phones, mostly are flashing rom, accessing the root directory and tweaking the SoC.

Wrote these a while back.
Good luck.

Looking at the OnePlus 10 pro on paper, it has everything you would possibly need to achieve incredible screen on times.
The idea behind this besides some healthy competition is to whittle out the bugs and battery draining apps and habits.... in the hope that we all benefit from the knowledge learned and gathered.

Comparing the two I prefer lawnchair, nova is a little too flicky for my liking, I prefer smooth transitions and fluidity rather than overly quick and flicky, you'll know what I mean when you install it 2% is still 2-6% better than the 8 pro..

Try disabling Google play Services when not needed. It has a bunch of power sucking dependencies. I disable more Google system apps than that on my N10+, but disabling play services may be enough to tone it down especially at night.
Use manual brightness control and keep below 50%.
Social media apps should never be installed for a variety of reasons including excessive battery consumption... just saying.

Agreed, it sounds optimized to me! Hell yeah.
Most Android phones need to be optimized to get best performance... just the way it is.
I go to settings>apps, search for play, then disable/enable it there. I use it 2-3 [email protected] day, sometimes less.
If the disable option is grayed out, go to security and disable Find my Device as a system Administrator.
So many big sister Gookill system apps I hate...

Just done it but getting a lot of dings every time I unlock, little annoying tbh. I'm just wondering is the call to open services actually using battery ? I dunno. Perhaps if there wasn't a load of notifications..
I'll leave it for this cycle and maybe see how it compares next time, I'm not out over the weekend so have a good location to get fault results.

On my phone it can suck up to 1+%@hr with screen on... so it adds up. No reasoning with it.
You can kill those very annoying notifications; Gmaps, Gmail, do it; disable notifications. There may be more depending on your configuration.
Leave the warning running and when you disable notifications in the right app... it will stop. Instant gratification
I just bought this phone, one thing i dont know why because battery's using time is short, only 5 hours. I want to know that everyone the same as me?
You either have a n app eating thru your battery or a faulty battery.
Check in Settings/Battery. If nothing special pops out there, you might want to try a factory reset and see if that still happens.
In the past I also used GSam to get more info on battery usage.

Keep all social apps insta FB and WhatsApp with restrictions of background and foreground activity and keep auto launch off . That's make your battery long lasting. Keep optimization on in battery settings.

As per the requirements?
If so I'll be happy to add your time
If you're experiencing rapid battery drainage with your OnePlus 10 Pro, there are a few steps that you can take to solve this issue.
First and foremost, it is important for you to understand why the battery drains quickly. There are several factors that may contribute to this problem, such as the presence of background apps running in the background without your knowledge and an inefficient power management system.
To address the first factor, reducing or disabling any applications running in the background can help improve battery performance significantly. To do so: go into Settings > App Manager > Running Apps, where you can see which apps are currently active on your device. You should close or uninstall any unnecessary apps as they consume energy even when not actively used by you.
For further improvement of your device’s power efficiency, it also helps to recalibrate its internal Power Management System (PMS). This process involves resetting how much power is allocated for different tasks on your OnePlus 10 Pro allowing it to run more efficiently and effectively utilize whatever charge remains in its unit’s battery pack while still providing optimal performance. It is recommended that this procedure be done at least once per month or after factory resets – but no more than three times per month – as excessive PMS calibrations will only lead to shorter lifespan of both software and hardware components over time instead of better performance gains and improved efficiency levels.
Finally if these two solutions fail then eventually replacing/repairing parts inside phone such as motherboard may prove beneficial for fixing Oneplus 10 pro Battery Drain Fast issue permanently however seeking professional help from authorized service centers would be necessary before attempting similar DIY repairs within home due safety related issues involved with components which are sensitive enough handle with proper care & expertise .

When it comes to battery optimization for the OnePlus 10 Pro, version 2213, I have a few suggestions that might help you maximize your device's battery life.
Firstly, it's important to note that OnePlus devices generally come with a variety of built-in battery optimization features. To begin, make sure you have enabled the battery optimization settings on your device. You can usually find these settings in the device's "Battery" or "Power" section within the settings menu.
Additionally, I recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date. Manufacturers often release software updates that include battery optimizations and improvements. So, regularly check for updates and install them as they become available.
Another effective approach to conserving battery life is by managing your apps and their power consumption. Identify any apps that are known to drain battery excessively and either limit their usage or consider uninstalling them if they are not essential. You can find battery usage statistics in the device settings, usually under "Battery" or "Power."
Furthermore, adjusting the screen brightness and timeout settings to a level that suits your needs can significantly impact battery life. Lowering the brightness and reducing the screen timeout duration can help conserve power.
Lastly, keeping unnecessary features and connections turned off when not in use can make a difference. Features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS can consume additional power if left enabled unnecessarily.

Good post
Would you say the Oneplus 10 Pro is still a good phone for this year even? Very new?
I am only getting 2-3 hours of battery life on a $1000 phone which is ridiculous, 5000mah is a joke and the integration of oxygen OS + color OS is even worse
If someone have any tips for improving battery life (I have disabled all google services that you can think of), please suggest me anything at this point.
Thanks.
Dude, at least checking what is eating the battery, try to check the battery tab and see what app causes the battery drain.

If you're getting only 2-3, then something is not right. I consistently get 6-9 hours SOT depending on how I use it, and that had been both on both 12&13. As @churchmice said, check the battery stats for what's causing drain

Yeah, i have accubattery downloaded and it doesn't show anything also the one oneplus has in the settings shows nothing is draining a lot of battery. It's just bad

HOWWW? can you please explain to me, how are you getting 6-9 hours SOT, there is no way.
You obviously have a standby issue where it's either an app or signal draining you. I'd suggest a wipe and restart. 2-3 is way out of character. You should be doubling that at a minimum.
Good time ... I have the same problem, the battery runs out very quickly. The largest consumption is the service of intelligent services

Yeah, I will factory reset only if I don't find any way, but thanks for the suggestion
Change 5G to 4G
Remove tiktok its 100% dodgy Chinese spyware.
Good luck.
PS: I've had over 10 hours SOT on this device. The battery is very good.

I myself am looking for an answer to this question. I reset the phone to factory settings several times, but after a while, the battery drains a lot again.

You're more then welcome sir, glad to help.
Biggest ones are obviously app based..tiktok and Facebook are two I couldn't advise more that enough to literally delete and bin, after you've removed every piece of personal data from them.
Regarding Facebook.
I'd completely annihilated my official account and after a few years I created a new account for a game I didn't want to lose the progress from.
So made an account with all fake details
Fake email which also had fake details.
No number (iirc)
No DOB (fake)
Location (faked)
Then when I came to use the account. I made sure to not allow a single permission from my location.
Specifically contacts, location, my phone number, my real name, real DOB, real name, real address.
Bare in mind I was living in London at the time and my family is from Liverpool.
After using the app for a short period of time with every permission I can see off and with all my real details hidden.
The app started recommending people I know personally in both London and Liverpool, family, colleagues, friends, people I've met etc.
I was careful to either lie about or deny access to all of my details and content.
Facebook seemingly did the same.
You can try this yourself, it's scary.
Don't get me started on tiktok, they are the worst, their parent company ByteDance (iirc) are directly affiliated with the CCP and they're not the most reputable people in the world (to put it mildly)
Anyway, Rant over

Luckily enough...
I never made an account on TikTok and Facebook, I hate those apps, I only use snapchat like twice a day, that's it.
Thanks for your time and help, I appreciate it!!

Lol no worries man and yep it certainly opened my eyes..
Thing is they're probably in possession of all of our data already, seriously big business, I just don't like helping them along.
Cheers
Good time...
After completely resetting the phone to factory settings, everything was fine. Week later. And the phone again launched the intelligent service. This service is very battery draining. What to do?
The OnePlus 10 Pro Debloat Thread
Hey guys. I know no one asked. And I know there are 13,126 different threads across different sites for debloating your phone. Of course, none of those are universal, and none of them are tailored to the device in-question. My device details ...
forum.xda-developers.com
debloat it,
@batterylifesucks @persey1977 be sure to check my debloat thread and run that on your phone. It will remove 113 useless packages from your phone. Uninstall all those battery apps yall have like accubattery and betterbatteryplus or w/e. That stuff kills battery, especially since the device has its own battery monitoring software
Tilde88 said:

I do not use applications that are not used (accubattery, betterybatterpro, etc.). only standard messengers and navigation, office suite, banking software.
after resetting the phone to factory settings, it works fine for a week. battery discharge per day 50-60%.
After a week of work in normal mode, the phone starts to get very hot and the battery runs down by 1% in 10-15 minutes.
