Doesn't work. It's the old MSM tool and not the one we need (it's for fajita OnePlus 6 or 7 I think) and not the 10 Pro. Unfortunately the older tools may connect to the 10 pro, but will never be able to flash them as they expect ops format but we use ofp format on the 10 pro.

Not that I know of but, possibly. Also not sure if it would read/flash correctly using the old tool. From what I've read they made changes to how the new tool communicated with EDL, if that's the case then it wouldn't matter. Not 100% sure though. I guess easy way to test would be running that tool, using readback mode (pressing F8 while in tool) and connecting the 10 pro via EDL and see if it can successfully pull the boot.img. Maybe I'll try that when I get a chance, unless someone else wants to try first. I'm assuming if it worked out would just need to convert the format of the flash package then.

Beta version shouldn't have any effect on things since EDL is intentionally kept separate from the OS.
Converting OFP to OPS should simply be a matter of using the Oppo decrypt tools just like any other MSM edit but I dunno if it will actually work.
GitHub - bkerler/oppo_decrypt: Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter
Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter - GitHub - bkerler/oppo_decrypt: Oppo .ofp Firmware decrypter and oneplus .ops de-/encrypter
github.com
Use ofp_qc_decrypt.py to decrypt and then opscrypto.py to encrypt. Really should be as simple as that to repackage it but if the device is expecting some sort of encrypted handshake as seems to be suggested, the repack wouldn't do any good.

My point is that you should be able to do that on any OS version and readback doesn't actually change any of the partitions on your phone, it would just let us know if EDL can communicate with the older MSM at all. It would just reboot back to the OS when it was done (or if the handshake failed).

Since I have installed Pop! on my old NVMe drive, I decided to try it for myself. Spoiler alert: it doesn't work.
The OFP has an entirely different structure to the OPS. In fact it doesn't even use settings.xml, it uses Setting.xml, and that file has an entirely different structure as well. There is no way that this will work.
Taking a quick look at the two settings files, it seems like the one for the OPS has the patch and program information contained in the file, the OFP has them split into separate patch and rawprogram files. Additionally the super.img in the OFP has been split into separate files (but there is a super_map.csv that says which regions use what files and they can be merged with simg2img back to a full super).
It's not a simple conversion for sure. Even the arguments in the Setting section of the file are entirely different and there is no lite firehose with the new MSM Tool either.

But can't we take the payload file from OnePlus 10 pro convert to a OPS file format

With the variances that @EtherealRemnant has noted it would be challenging to say the least.
Not sure about impossible but difficult for sure.

Question Where does Oneplus provide the Stock ROMs for Nord CE?

Hi
pretty much what the title says - I need to download the stock ROM for my new OnePlus Nord CE 5G, so I can patch it with Magisk, I went looking for it and couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where it is made available by OnePlus?
Thanks!
you should wait a day or two, there doesn't seem to be anything aside from bad websites with questionable content
Ok, thanks.
I guess this is the official place, right?
OnePlus Support Softwareupgrade - OnePlus (United States)
support softwareupgrade
www.oneplus.com
but the Nord CE isn't there yet. I really hope it only takes "a day or two" like you mentioned, I don't have much use for the phone before I can restore my Titanium Backup on it, and for that I need root, and for that I need Magisk, and for that I need the stock ROM download
welp the day or two wasnt meant literally
it might take a long time lmao
and yes that looks like the official
Hey! Congrats on the new device! I bought it too!
https://www.oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade
This is the official oneplus link to download software but for some reason the nord CE isn't listed on there. I wanted the latest update too because there were some bugs in my device which were installation errors mostly. They were fixed with the OTA released a few days ago. My advice is stick around and post on the oneplus community forums since it's much more device-centric.
Thanks

Yes. Same issue. Had to download Nova launcher for a workaround, until they sort it out. I wonder if this is the quality software integration with OPPO they were talking about!

Damn, my package is only 146MB, so I guess it can't be a full package, it's just an incremental update... so I can't use for patching Magisk...
I'm angry at OnePlus for not releasing the Nord CE 5G Stock ROMs, why do they have to make this more difficult than it already is?
I literally only switched from Samsung to OnePlus because it was supposed to be more root-friendly...

Thanks, I didn't know about that app! Cool.
Downloading 2.72 GB now...
Tip for anybody not familiar with the app: you have to go into Settings, turn on Advanced Mode, to get it to allow you to download a full update even if your phone is already up to date.
Hooray !
I just successfully rooted my OnePlus Nord CE 5G!
I used the method that @sanangel recommended above.
Essentially it involves:
- an unlocked bootloader (I had done that on the first day I received the phone, to avoid losing data later)
- getting a full OTA package (I got this using Oxygen Updater app recommended above)
- use Payload Dumper python script to unpack that
- move boot.img to the phone and use Magisk Manager app to patch it there
- move the patched boot.img back to PC and use fastboot to boot from it
- inside that temporary boot, use Magisk to execute a direct install
Thanks to all for their help!

Question Why isn't my oneplus nord not showing up as QHUSB_BULK?

Im trying to use msm tool to flash my nord, but im not sure of a couple of things. 1: is it ok to flash an older version of OOS? Will it have any negative consequences? 2: How can i make my phone show as QHUSB_BULK? It is only registered as ac01ba in device manager. Thanks!

Power off your device
Maintain volume up and down buttons to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer.
Should you not manage to do that and have adb access, you can use adb reboot edl instead

Development [PORT] BETA MIUI A12

Good afternoon
The XD team (Xyen and Dargonswim) has managed to port the Chinese betas with Android 12 for anyone who wants to test it.
You only need to have the bootloader open.
Installation (FASTBOOT):
- Enter fastboot mode (vol - and power).
- Connect the phone to the pc (have the USB debugging enabled).
- The first time it is recommended to do a clean install. Enter cmd and choose windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.ba t option. (Use the corresponding file for other platforms).
- Then you only need to use the update file.
- Wait 10 minutes for the process to finish. Do not disconnect the mobile at any time.

Great news. Simple and safe method and the original Chinese beta ROM without modifications under Android 12. Congratulations and good work.
I re-flashed the global A11 ROM for the sake of updates.
I can assume that if I flash this one, I won't get any updates. Is that accurate?

expected that actual TWRP is not working correct with A12. But you can install the the magisk.app and patch the boot.img file (extract it from payload with payload-dumper on PC). Once you have patched the file copy it back to the PC and put the mobille into fastboot. Then with command "fastboot boot patched_boot_image.img" you will start with Magisk for your session. If you want to have root permanent after phone is up go directly to the Magisk app and install it "again" directly.

How To Guide Root on OnePlus Nord CE 5G

I have spend 5 full working days to get root on my OnePlus Nord CE 5G, and have heard several times asking arround, it is the hardest OnePlus phone to root. So I decided to write a short manual to help anybody else.
I used this method:
https://magiskapp.com/root-oneplus-nord-ce-5g-using-magisk/
Where I changed tactics is how to get the boot.img The problem is with this phone is that you are not able to find the same version that your phone comes with, giving a version mismatch with the modem drivers, so making wifi not work, and multiple small problems with your 4G 5G connections and phonecalls.
https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-boot-img-from-an-Android-phone
I used TWRP to start a terminal to run those commands locally on the phone, rebooted the device and run Magisk , and then downloaded the patched Boot.img and flashed it via fastboot.
Sounds easy right? it is if you know
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for this post. It was helpful during rooting my oneplus nord ce with oos12 and i would like to give you a tip for boot.img. As you mentioned there was a model name change for me during oos11 to oos12 and the device code changed from eb2103 to eb2101(which helped me to find my device is indian variant). Anyway, , couldn't found an official or unofficial twrp recovery for oos12 so i didn't prooced with the twrp on web to prevent bricking device since i got no warranty. I head to oneplus website to download full rom but thanks to my luck the websites was down so i found that i can download full rom using oxygen updater(can be found in play store). After i finish downloading full rom, i extracted boot image using payload dumper and patched it with magisk app. Voila! now i have root on my nord ce oos12. This huge effort is needed just to enable volte on oos12 because after i upgrade to oos12, my volte switch was gone and that made phone calls unstable.
Anyway thanks again for enlighting the path @pimzwager

Once in Fastboot mode, try flashing a clean boot and recovery to BOTH slots like this :
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img
Follow the steps on this site to Flash the stock ROM above using the Fastboot Enhance Tool

If you have trouble rebooting to FastbootD (Recovery)
Try swapping Active slots from the application (typically slot A worked for me)
Choose reboot to FastbootD
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this to be used when the OP 10 Pro is ALREADY on OS 13, or is this to be used when the unit is on OS 12 (not yet rooted) and you want to take it to OS 13?
Thanks for your help.
Either or would be fine.

Can you use ADB tools to restore stock rom if the device was soft bricked?
No. There are a few unbricking tools I've had to use in the past such as MSM tool, Fastboot Enhance Tool, and payload Dumper. (Google them, they're easy to find)
Note, that MSM tools are (nowadays) typically created and coded with a specific device and may also require authentication to unlock.
I've since moved on to the Google Pixel Pro series after seeing the terrible "Franekstien Project" that Oppo applied to Oneplus in their Color OS "make files"... It's literally a "lucky" mash-up of OnePlus Legacy OS and Oppo.
When companies sell out like that, do lazy transitions, etc. and the core reason we supported them in the first place becomes both forgotten and obsolete, that's when I typically stop supporting them.
