S20FE charging stops when screen turns off - Device Repair

faced this issue recently, when i plug in the cable, charging starts but after a while (i think when the screen turns off) charging stops, i have used a super fast charge power bank and 2 sets of 25W chargers, all return the same results.
any one knows a fix for this annoying issue?

I have the exactly same problem, in 2 different S20FEs. After some time, the charging process stops, but the phone still shows "charging". The battery level stays at the same, even after some time. Maybe something update related?

[Q] USB Failing?

hello all,
Has anyone experienced this? Is the USB port failing or bad?
I plug my phone into AC charger. Most often the light goes on and it begins charging. Sometimes it stops charging immediately. Sometimes it will charge for a little while then stop charging. Mostly it will charge until I unlock it again then it will stop charging. I find that once it stops charging there is no one way to get it back. Sometimes its unplugging and replugging, sometimes its just waiting until it kicks back in.
I have replaced the AC charger, changed the plug im using and changed the power strip.
Weird thing is I have not noticed this with USB charging through the PC (however that charging is slower than my rate of use, so I just get less decrease).
Has anyone seen this? Is my USB port shot? Time to get a new phone?
thanks
P.S. - Used to be Rooted MIUI, now I am back to stock FRG83 w/ stock Recovery, Kernel & Radio....this has happened since I was Rooted for the past two weeks.
Any unusual heat, when you're charging?
No. And this is a new thing that started when I started using MIUI. But has not left even after a full wipe and PASSIMG install.

[BUG] N4 charging stuck at 99% and other charging related issues

is it just my unit or anyone else have this issue? the battery indicator (lock screen and notification bar) shows 99% and just wont go up anymore.
UPDATE 2: Trick - when the phone stop at 99% while charging after a while, unplug the cable and immediately plug the cable back in. The battery indicator now should show "Charged".
UPDATE 1: Seem to be a safety mechanism to protect the battery from overcharged.
Also notice the following issues:
2) battery indicator may show as still charging when cable is already unplugged (only happened 2 times so far)
3) screen on by itself randomly while charging (not always but do happen some times)
4) battery discharging mechanism (to protect from over charge) may go haywire! It may go down from full/ 99% to 90% or less while still charging (may be related to (1) ).
Check your cable while charging. Also check to see if its charging as AC not USB. When it switches to USB, then screen will turn on.

Can't speak for the other 2 issues, but only charging to 99% isn't really a bug. This used to occur on the Galaxy Nexus. More reading here
Battery Charges Only to 99%
You can just ignore it, as it's apparently a way to safeguard the battery. Not sure the exact percentage point at which your battery stats reset, but it will have already occurred at 99%, for sure.

I was charging with AC, and I used a cable which is for charging only (can't transfer data). I tried it again today with the original cable from the Nexus 4 box, and have not noticed the screen turn on by itself again... Suppose it is the cable fault.
As for the stuck charging icon, it happened twice since I got the phone, but have not appeared again. Can't pinpoint the issue.

Ah... this is my first Nexus device. Surprised to find that it is actually a safeguard feature :silly: well as long as it is not faulty I guess I just have to get used to it. Thanks for sharing.
It has to be the dumb usb adaptor that comes with the phone. Mines charges perfectly fine to 100% using an LG AC wall charger I bought.. And even if I restart the phone it stays as charged at 100, USB would be at 99% when I rebooted..

yea my screen turns on randomly sometimes.
also, try this , when u plug in your charger to the wall but dont plug it into the phone , listen to it itll sound like its gonna explode.

P9 won't charge after battery replacemnet

So like the title said i have replaced the battery in my P9, with an original battery. It has the same part number and all that. I have noticed that the phone won't charge the replacement battery, i have returned the new battery in warranty and revived another one. Same thing, the phone starts up as soon as you plug in any kind of power source to it , like a charger, but no charging notification. The notification light pulses in rare intervals (some thing of 10 secs or more) but it's not steadily on like when normally charging. And the most vexing thing is : if i replace the original battery it charges. Unfortunately the the original battery now has the bad habit of cutting out on me at random from anywhere 47% or bellow .... The phone is nearly 3 year old now.
Have you given the new batteries some time to charge? Maybe they were delivered to you fully discharged.
First one was on 85% the second on 60% or so. I kept the 1st one on charger for a whole weekend... Still nothing
Have you tried to callibrate the original battery (you say it suddenly drops if below 40%)?
Yes, I have allowed the battery to run down to 3% and the phone turning itself off. Then fully charged it while being off. So the original battery is just plain old, nearly 3y old. The problem is that the phone refuses to charge the new batteries regardless of original charge. Also it turns automatically on when you plug in a charger, not just showing the charge animation. That is not normal behavior.

I've done that after reading you'r message , but i have already done the steps not req root. And i'm not willing to root my phone.
P9 also not charging
Did you manage to find a resolution to this issues? I'm having the same problem with my P9. I changed my battery, and it now won't charge. It turns on ok, and everything seems to be working. When I plug in the charging cable, it makes the sound it usually does, the battery symbol flashes green but instantly turns white again. When the phone is off, plugging the cable in switches it on, but no charge. I've had two replacement batteries, both have the same issue. Also, the original battery is now doing the same. I'm wondering if I damaged something while removing the battery.

I think it's problem in charging IC or port.
Hi all
Had same issue with replacement battery
After replacement battery isn't charging. Problem is in bad connections
(probably from long shelf storage connectors got rusty)
Voltage was fine but temperature reading was way off (very low -2) and phone didn't charge battery
Problem is that there was no error message about battery temp.
After cleaning the contactors battery reading became normal and it started charging
Anybody ever had any solution to this problem? I have the same issue. Battery replaced - not taking any charge. If micro USB charger plugged in - the phone turns on. If it is already turned on plugging in the charger the screen flashes the % of the charge and nothing.

Redmi 4a doesn't start need ideas

Hi all,
i bought a redmi4a 7 months ago. At previous day when the charge level was low. i plugged charge machine and it doesn't charge it. when i reset phone it will. After that the charge level reach %25 it stopped and not charged anymore. After that battery level reach 0 it shut down. The situation comes after that.
i plugged it on my pc it switch on and did not took charge. Level was stuck %0. A few moments after it shut down. After that i tried with 3 different adapter to charge. it not switch on. There are a red button on home screen and just blinking 3times. whenever i tried to open it it blinked 3 times and don't switch on. What is your ideas about that?
i guess battery must changed, however not to sure problem. Maybe charging socket must changed. Did you face it an issue like that? (plus it did not brick, computer did not recognize the device)
Thanks for helping and i am really looking forward your answers.
Thanks.
Probably is the charging port that is broken or the battery connector is badly connected

Pixel 5 - Charging (Connects and disconnects over and over)

Hello, While charging my pixel 5 using the official charger, the charge connects and disconnects over and over, probably half second gaps in between.
This happens when device reaches 47% and if the environment is dark ,but when I turn on room light ,this does not happen. It happened during my first charge cycle and second one.
I've done as many debugging steps as I can, and I am certain this is a bug.
Root issue: charger connects and disconnects over and over.
Can someone confirm if anyone is facing the same issue and if it's a software thing?
I haven't noticed this. That would drive me crazy, try a different wire maybe
That kind of behaviour is normally a dodgy charging port.
I've encountered this, but only with my 5 port Aukey charger that does not support PD on its USB-C port and it happens once battery is charged over 10%. Someone on Reddit also had this only with 5 port charger without PD support.
Issue does not happen on official charger from the box for me.
same here, dark environment screen on off looping
really annoying
I switched to airplane mode, did not happen again, weird.
Hello All,
Update on the original issue:
Tried to replicate the same issue in bright environment today, below is the behaviour:
1. Connected the device to charger when the battery percent is at 16%.
2. I did not notice any issue until the device is charged up to 60%. After that the charge connects and disconnects over and over for 4 times with 45 seconds to 1.5 minutes time interval. After that it's all good.
I think the fix that Google has pushed for battery percent issue is causing this.
Any thoughts?

I have not noticed this on my pixel, I would call up Google tell them that you want to return the phone and make sure they don't charge a restocking fee. Tell them that you've been really inconvenienced by this and that you do not want to be charged the restocking fee, Then rebuy the phone again. That's the only way you'll guarantee the phone will be new.
If my phone was doing that I would be heated
