Hello everyone. I just got the x5 pro and I want to root but can't find anything on rooting it. If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate the help!
I'm not new to rooting but I do like to check each phones specific instructions before I mess anything up. Thank you!
No root as of yet. Bootloader is locked by Oppo ...Bummer...This would be one of the best phones out there if they gave us the unlock bootloader

First of all, welcome to XDA.
Second, you dont need to "unlock bootloader" for themes and apps. Root is enough.
You can find how to root it in Development section of Xperia Z1 forum.
For any question, write here, and i will reply as soon i can.

Hello its a new person as you can see. I do have a few questions for concerning root. I am in the process of trying to learn how to root my phone which is the Z1 S. Would you be able to explain the difference in root with lock boot loader and a root with unlocked boot loader? I have tried the search button but came up little info on it. I would like to be able install roms, themeing, apps, modz, wifi and blue tooth tethering the whole nine yards lol. Maybe I should be asking which method would be best for all that. Locked or unlocked bootloader?
Thank you for all the help and your time it is greatly appreciated.
Not sure if you need this info

You are using Z1s so you cant unlock your bootloader. It's locked by request of T-Mobile...
However you can root without unlock bootloader
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53407127&postcount=1004
or just use Towelroot to root
You can install recovery (must have for rooted device), ROM, any many things...but no Kernel for now (require unlocked bootloader...)

Unlocked bootloader is always rootable. But there is no difrence if you achive root with BL or UBL.
ROOT is just admin right and gives you option to mess around your phone.
And if you aim just to modify your phone a little bit, always try to root it without unlocking bootloader.
Hello again I am hoping someone would be willing to help me understand whats in this link a little more!! There are a few things I dont understand. Hello!
I unlocked and rooted my p20 pro with magisk. I have the CLT-L04. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out where to get the updated ota files and how to flash them with fastboot. I have done some reading although it is unclear.
Also unsure if it's worth keeping my phone unlocked since Huawei won't be providing codes in four days.
Best regards
Download firmware here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
And flash via hurupdater
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
And even you relock your BL, you can use the same code unlock it again.
Great thank you that worked. I can't seem to find the code I used to unlock my bootloader, does it need to be the same? (Not planning on relocking, just curious)
Also my live wallpapers have now disappeared? I would appreciate if anyone have the theme files.
Cheers

Hi there bro! Noticed that you might be from Manila, too. I am also using a Huawei P20 Pro and on the verge of rooting. Been using Samsung mobiles for the past 4 years and have rooted all of them. Got the P20 Pro 3 months ago and somehow I cannot go on not having it rooted hehe.
Here are some notes:
1. I got the unlock code for the bootloader 2 days before Huawei stopped giving them out last month.
2. I have downloaded the TWRP (praetorian version)
3. Got Magisk v16.0
4. ADB and fastboot ready for use on mac.
A couple of questions:
1. Is it a good time to root now?
2. Why do some unlock/relock their bootloader??
Looking forward to your pieces of advice. Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Hi,
to answer your questions:
1. Rooting is a personal preference. IF you're rooting to flash customs, there's no really available custom ROMs for this device at the moment. IF you need apps that needs root access and don't care about warranty, then root.
2. Not sure about his one. I don't see any benefit of locking BL aside from the disabling of the annoying "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" warning when booting. Maybe claiming for warranty....

Amazing! I appreciate your input bro. I'll root later tonight. Thanks again! :good:
By the way, do I need to download newer tools for rooting or I have all the things I need?
Howdy, folks. Due to an unfortunate accident, I needed to buy a replacement 973F. It's been a long time 2 years(?) since I first rooted the phone and it looks like there's been a boatload of development since then.
Can someone post links to recommended guides for how to unlock the bootloader and root the device? Although I bought the international version and the bootloader should be unlocked, I'd rather read and prepare so I know what to do when it gets here.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Bump. Just checking to see if the process is the same as in 2019 or if there are newer or improved methods of rooting.
hi, I buy a x2 pro but the former owner lock bootloader, and I can unlock, please help me...
nobody knows?
can you help me?
If no one has answered your question yet, it's likely that no one has the answer.
How do you know the last owner locked the bootloader? Is it possible they never unlocked it? What is preventing you from unlocking it?
he was the one who said, when I install the apk it does not open
