I am pretty new to this world of G1 ROMs and rooting. From posts I have rooted the phone, put on the latest Cyanogen ROM, got an 8 Gb Class 6 SDCard and setup 3 partitions.
I was wondering ... what applications and settings do people recommend???
I just found out today about the better onscreen keyboard and feel like an idiot for not using it sooner.
I currently use:
Steel instead of the regular Browser
Handcent SMS instead of messaging
SnapPhoto instead of Camera
Qik instead of Camcorder
WeatherBug
Babbler Lite for Facebook
YouMail for Voicemails
Twidroid for Twitter
Other apps I have and use (not as frequently are):
Wireless Tethering
Google Voice
Google Maps
Places Directory
Google Talk
IM
Widgets:
Scoreboard
FML
Power Control
Search
Since I update with Cyanogen's experimental ROM I do not use a theme.
I appreciate any feedback. I just don't want to miss anything like I did with the better on-screen keyboard.
I would recommend the normal programs for things like the camera, browser, or messaging. we have modified versions of them in the android development forum. i use bloo for facebook, and get visual voicemail(T-Mobile) for voicemail
I got the TasKiller app, it comes with 2 widgets, a kill all button and a taskbar to show you running programs. Its handy if you ever get a lot of apps
i personally find after trying a few that advanced task killer runs the absolute best

I've used all of those, and recently found taskpanel, which has a very slick interface,...if only it had a widget. Taskiller always gives me FC w/ Wait option when i come back from the lock screen, but otherwise it worked well
Messsages - ChompSMS / SMS Handcent
Facebook - Bloo / Babbler
Twitter - Twidroid or iTweet
Browser - Opera Mini (hella hella fast)
Music - MixZing
Camera - FxCamera (Neat filters / fast fast shutter + auto focus!!)
IM - Hi Aim / Hello AIM
CoPilot
Movies app
yup =D
Su file browser & Terminal
itweet for twitter
Quick Boot - free in market
Advanced task Manager
The most important app for quickly working on your phone is SU File Browser. Unless you are a purist and only like the terminal (which I certainly respect), you should have this app.
I use all the standard apps, don't see a reason to use replacements. I use Bloo and twidroid for facebook and twitter.

i assume there are people that have probably already asked this or is already been released, but is there a way someone can implement switching between apps using the gesture that is used in google chrome to switch tabs, or like the ipad. thanks
Hello
I have quite a few paid apps on my google pay account..the thing is quite a few of the come with separate unlocker/key apps. Is there a way to tidy up the app folder so that its not cluttered with key apps?
I noticed poweramp key app has an option to hide itself from the system...is there a way to simulate/force a similar behavior with other key apps?
work profile apps don't show up in recent apps, but rather get minimized to upper left corner.
it doesn't work that way on my Note 4, so I'm wondering if maybe there's some Samsung app installed on newer Note phones that makes work profile apps behave this way.
does anyone have any idea?
I'll give "thanks" to anyone who might have a clue on what I can do, thanks!
I recently discovered that AA no longer allows me to re-organize my app order. The apps are all there, but there is no way to re-organize them. Has anybody else encountered this issue?
For the record, it use to be that there were three lines that allowed one to pick up and move the apps within the AA Customize Launcher setting, which allowed one to drag-and-drop to the position desired (e.g. putting Waze at the top of the launcher so it was the first app encountered on the head-unit so no scrolling would be required).
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
B.D.

Yes, it is a limitation of Android Auto...
Some months ago I was a beta tester of Google play services and in Android Auto was possible to reorganize the app order.
But now I'm not a beta tester and there is only an option to select the apps you want to use in Android Auto.
This is my experience, maybe it will be useful for you
