Hi Guys,
Currently I am doing a final year research project for my degree course.
I would like to get some people to fill out a questionnaire for me please. The research title is 'What is Gender Preference of using mobile phones?'
Bascially I am trying to find out what kind of features and services do men and women use on their phones? Is there a gender difference? This is my hypothesis.
The link of questionnaire is below and will take you around 1min to complete.
https://www.smart-survey.co.uk/v.asp?i=5034waudf&m=&tiag=1
Any suggesstions and comments to questionnaire design or type of questions would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.
7 year old thread is 7 years old. Surely the OP is done with this. :silly:
Thread closed.
The last thread turned into junk. I'm not a dev and am totally new to this site and Android. I come from the iPhone community and I hate to see such a good thread go to waste. The other one turned into a disaster. Moderators if I'm out of line delete this thread. Thanks again AcidBath for all the updates and thank you to all the devs working on this problem.

Welcome to XDA, always good to see new members
Moderators already have posted and warned in WIP Root Incredible thread that disrespect and flaming aren't tolerated here, so no need for a new thread.
Glad you are here.
Cheers!

What is wrong with THIS thread???
This needs to be closed.
You had the right idea in mind OP, however it's better to clean up an already developed thread than to start a new one that covers the same topic. Multiple threads/posts about the same exact thing are the bane of forum moderators everywhere =p.
Just to clear this up....

You'll have to wait a few days or longer for all the recent drama to settle. The whole think to me looks like a publicity stunt for someone's new forum. Regardless of the fake claim made by some asshat yesterday, there has been a lot of BS from the get-go.
Let me sum it up for you:
"Jake" makes claims of booting an overclocked rom on the Incredible (leading everyone to believe he had root - is there any other way to boot a modified kernel without root??)
Jake posts non-working links to his kernels and asks for donations because he doesn't even have a dinc in the first place.
Someone buys Jake a phone (supposedly)
A FAKE Jake posts a fake picture on more than one forum, claiming to have success.
Real Jake apparently knows this but waits entire day to state it wasn't him?
Real Jake also apparently has a conversation with trusted person "Adicbath" BEFORE stating it wasn't him and leads him to believe he does have root. (this is the real confusing part I would like more answers on. If true, the real Jake is the asshat. If false, Acidbath may have a serious drinking problem)

just to clear this up:
I asked Moderators to close my threads on XDA and Here as well.
I don't drink, so no drinking problem...Lmao.
The exact timeline from my involvement is:
Opened thread.
Monitored Devs exploits and methods and would report back their results.
Got superboot from Paul Obrien Modaco page and passed it onto to Devs that hadn't already seen it.
Saw jake day claimed overclock etc.
Reached out to his friend bootbscoob via forums and eventually speaking via GTalk, to try and get direct news and methods to post here and XDA for everyone.
bootbscoob put me in contact with REAL Jake Day.
Saw picture online showing root.
Contacted Jake Day via GTalk, asked him if root is achieved and is that his picture and can he please share method/instructions.
He told me YES he had root and that he would release instructions on his blog that night, also when asked about inconsistencies in the picture he said he would address that with instructions/root blog post.
I believed him and also saw that websites androidcentral.com and androidguys.com and phonescoop.com reported root was achieved, so I updated post here and XDA.
Then propped my BBQ with wife and family.
Came back to GTalk messages from bootbscoob saying it was fake, and forums raving and going crazy.
I sent GTalk message to Jake Day asking WTF? If this is fake why didnt u say something and is this really jake day, and the only reply i got was he would clear it up with his friends at alldroid.com and he was the real jake day, then silence.
I then decided that this became a crazy lying dabocal and asked mods to close the threads.
Also to be clear, I am a WinMo chef, average Android Chef, and not a developer. I am learning more all the time but at no point have I rooted a phone myself, I have only tried to help and learn from experienced developers, the same way I learned how to chef my own WinMo roms.
My goal was to have a thread so that the average incredible user could easily find the status on root and ask questions and possibly speak to Developers if they came by, that is it.
I want no credit or glory, I only wanted to help and be involved because I enjoy Android and cell phone hacking.
Good luck all, and I wish everyone the very best in all their real lives
As previously mentioned. It's easier to keep the discussions in one place. After the root is complete, I'm sure a new thread will appear, but until then...
Closed,
Dave
HI you guys are awesome
Well hi all, I'm 'new', but not really that new, since I've been searching through XDA topics on many occasions for quite a few years now. Not sure why it took me so long to actually make an account, but here I am.
So about me - half geek, half creative, F/LOSS enthusiast for over 20 years, full time Linux user since 2006, interested in way to many subjects to ever become a specialist in any of them within at least a dozen of life spans. Hence I don't think I'll ever be able to call myself a developer, but hey, we'll see ;-)
Hello everyone, i'm back here after a long, long time
I used to read alot here when i was 10 - 15 but I think i switched to iOs during 2010s and i never really had my phone in the center of my occupations so i bought some macbook & iphone and i started to learn code. (mostly js)
I would be really happy to help users here, if i can, and discuss about my new device. 2020s seems to be redditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t
Thank you for everything I have read here over the last years!
More than anything, XDA is a community, and we're all here for different reasons.
Some are here to mod their phone--some joined just to ask a question. Or perhaps, like many, you joined so long ago, you have no idea why you're here (which is totally fine! we've been around for almost a decade). And we're in the process of making XDA more useful to everyone here now that we've moved to much better forum software.
But we'd love to know your XDA story: why are you here, and who are you? What's your day job, what phones do you have, where do you live, what do you like to do for fun? We'd love to get to know you!
Also, be sure to spend some time filling out your profile:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/account/account-details
And also adding what phones you have to your inventory:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/account/xda-devices
thanks and welcome. I'm one of the guys in charge and my DMs are always open if you ever want to chat or even complain.
Go ahead and make a new thread in this forum instead of replying to this post.

What's up,
I'm youngspeed and I'm here to further my knowledge on tech. But I also have a few questions.
1 how do I sign in to the app because it redirects me to my browser to confirm authorization but when I do it takes me back to the XDA app but doesn't sign me in. (Update: I was able to sign in so I don't have a question about this anymore)
2 does anyone know how to get Google Camera on the Samsung A10e without rooting or flashing because I have been trying but no success. If there is a way can you send the apk please?
And lastly how do I make a discussion? Thanks

Hello. I have an LG expression 3 and a MotoG 7 power .i am here looking for a ROM or theme for both phones.
A while back I had an AOPk boot animation that was awesome and the alien ROM ( I think) . it had awesome fonts and icons. I was wondering if UI theme kitchen is still around and if either phone is rootable and or would be compatible with the theme kitchen. ?? Its been a while but I really hope you can help me find something . both phones are pretty plain and boring .
Hey All,
I am a Redmi 5 user and I am here in XDA to find a way to root my phone and also see that, if there is any possibility that I can upgrade the Android version as mine is stuck at version 8.
Well i like the internet especially for the opportunity to learn from others and share information with people that equaly appreciate the content as much as i do.
Here i gonna admid i am more on the newby side.. I played around with phones in the past. Mostly following up tutorials of people that really understand what they are doing... And this way i can create something with their help that me on my own would be hard to accomplish... We build on each other in different aspects of life and here i am appreciating to receive knowledge of the ones that are really into electronics/software/programming. ..
Its a strange, extremly complex but logic world that i find myself in when dealing with modifiying electronics .
Thanks for sharing this with me
Hi all,
I was in read-only mode for years and now I had to reply to a post.
I've got a Samsung S8, S20 FE, Chinese Android car head unit. I'm interested in Android apps to make my devices more usable, comfortable and so.
Thanks for everyone
Hi there!
I hope I can find all the answer for my question without posting, so I don't bother you
Heya, I am Aaron, joined XDA for useful apps, support and to comment under programs or roms I use, nothing much to know about me
Hi everyone.
Glad to have stumbled upon this wonderful community. Hope to consider myself a developer too very soon taking the wealth of resources here into consideration.
Will put substantial effort in abiding by all rules and regulations.
Thank you and best wishes

Welcome to XDA!
Have a good read and enjoy!
Hi. I'm a french CS engineer and a Debian addict.
I systematically root all my phones and have a specialization in tuning the iptables to not talk to the GAFAMs. Rooted phones so far : Huawei codenames HAM, NEML51, old samsung phones, a couple of Wiko phones.
I've been following XDA-developers for a decade and decide now to onboard :
* Short-term goal : get some help on a very edge case involving dm-verity and kali nethunter on Nexus5X (bullhead)
* Long-term goal : wait patiently for the day when a full debian phone / ubuntu touch will be available at a relatively low price, and help all along
hi. im just a nobody playing around with his phone 3
Hey all! I'm oneiromon. Oneiro=dream, and -mon is a reference to my age, the (original) pokemon generation.
Anyway, I've been programming since I was very young... Was moderating an old qb45 forum when I was 13...
i have been known by many names but that was many moons ago
anywayyyy I've been playing around rooting phones and whatnot mostly just as a hobby...
got myself a oneplus 8t and i'm hooked...
I joined the forum because I'm having trouble acquiring a stock boot image for an Onn Surf Gen 3 Tablet (100071481)...
I am trying my best to figure out how to pull the stock boot image but I'm having some troubles...
If anyone is willing to just post the boot.img I would be super grateful!
And I spend enough time on these forums anyway...
Now that I've finally made an account I promise to contribute good vibes and whatever assistance I can offer!
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to xda
Wish you a good time here
I've viewed these forums quite well over the years, so I'm not completely new to here. I've even used tools from these forums (although I couldn't say thanks but that should change). So yes, I'm kind of familiar.
I decided to join XDA because of my phone, an LG Tribute Dynasty (LG SP200). It might not be the best phone to have anymore (and it might've never been top notch), but I have figured out quite a couple of things, and I'm willing to find out what more could be done (e.g. custom roms, which I know none are available for this phone, but maybe research could be done.
Overall, I'll see what the future has in store for me. Whatever that might mean, we'll see how all goes!
p.s. btw, couldn't register with gmail. Any problem with it?
Welcome to the xda family.
Cheers.

@DoubleJarre Welcome to XDA! I hope you'll always get the support you require.
In your post scriptum, do you mean issues to register on XDA with your Google account? What problems did you experience?
