Verizon software keeps reinstalling on Pixel 4XL - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hi, i have a Pixel 4XL
baseband version g8150-00123-220402-B-8399852
i think its american , but i have installed the australian firmware on it , after a factory reset , and install a custom rom
this verizon software keeps reinstalling... can anyone clear up if this is spyware hidden ( i got the phone from a dodgy supplier online)
i want to remove it , yet it keeps reinstalling after multiple wipes.. i have erased slot a and b , reflashed recovery , reflashed firmware.
i intially thought it was reinstalling as it was linked to the baseband but from what i understand installing the Australian firmware should remove this system app ..
can anyone tell me how i can completely wipe this phone so this is removed. Do i need to edit the kernal to change the baseband someone at the phone shop suggested editing the Build Prop is this correct ? and if so how does one go about this.

I believe it's "normal" to have My Verizon Services, AppDirectedSMS and com.verizon.llkagent on your phone, although they should be disabled if not using Verizon (I have them on my Pixel 6 Pro but they are disabled). These 3 came with the phone out of the box and aren't spyware, but there in case you have a Verizon model or on the Verizon network, I believe.
If you really wanted to uninstall them you could root and try uninstalling them, but just disabling them should suffice.

i am in australia. using a american verison pixel, i was able to unlock the bootloader on the locked verizon version, and flashed australian firmware. but the verizon software wont remove unless i manually do it.

Does anyone know how to stop sprint / Verizon system applications from reinstalling, I can remove them with root but when I restart that creates a bootloop.. It is a american pixel. But I'm in Australia, I have tried flashing Australian firmware yet the problem persists, surely someone on here has the knowledge of how to do this, I was told on stack that it has to do with carrier - ID / device ID.

Hmm, have you tried moving to the USA, signing up with Verizon as a service provider, and then cancelling and moving back to Australia?
Jokes aside, you could try disabling or uninstalling it via ADB? Let me know how you go.

[Q] Rooted unit with market problems

I got this unit, relatively cheaply, in china. I realised it was rooted on two items: superuser was installed, and when keeping the start button depressed it came up with some chinese menu for shutdown, even though the os language was set to english.
I could set up my google account without problems, but i couldnt access the market. It was as if they used a short cut with an android market icon. Having said that, when i went to the market website online, i couldnt sign in on that. My non rooted htc phone has no problems accessing the market.
Interestingly, when i connected to wifi it popped up a softwarenudate notification, which it couldnt download due to absence of a SIM card (i didnt put my sim card in it yet)
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?
What is your usage location?
what version of ROm you have? (setting - about phone)
you have to see there
baseband version ?
Build version?
Kernel version ?
Right, i managed to get the market working by performing a factory reset.
Baseband version=N7000XXKJ6
Kernel=2.6.35.7-N7000ZSKK1-CL706440
Build=GINGERBREAD.ZSKK1
Right now i found that the problems i ave with this build, is that any firmware updates cannot be installed (i get a registration error message, and yes, i did register the unit with samsung).
It also contains several chinese apps that i cannot uninstall and are a nuisance.
One is called 360-something (its in chinese which i dont read), another one is called Gexin. Both apps actually report new messages.
There is also a QQ security app running (i know QQ is very popular in asia).
Ideally id like to have a UK or US original firmware, so i can update to ICS when it comes out in the next month or so. But a modified US orUK rom would probably do as well if necessary.
You can get all available ROM here

download my guide from signature (last link), if any assistance need to update ROM

SM-N960U Stuck In Roaming After Moving From Sprint To Verizon

Hi
I have a Note 9 which was originally purchased through Sprint. It's carrier unlocked. After moving the phone to Verizon it remains stuck in Roaming. Technicians at Verizon store clam they've never seen this problem before.
The network's shown as "Preferred System." Factory reset did not help.
I think the phone has Sprint firmware since the Sprint logo shows upon restart.
What works on phone:
Incoming / Outgoing Calls
Internet [around 60MBps]
SMS messages
What's broke:
MMS messages using default "Messaging" application
My wife's pretty upset about this problem.
I am running Linux Mint and familiar with Heimdall.
Do I need to flash Verizon firmware onto this phone?

Since you've already done a factory reset I would think the next logical step is to flash the Verizon or the unlocked firmware. What about the SIM card, did they try a new one?
They only tried one SIM.
When flashing with Heimdal do I simply need to download the Verizon firmware from SamMobile?

There is a thread somewhere in the guide section I recall seeing before from daillcyruz (I think was the OP). Search it and you will find instructions on how to install the VZ firmware.
I am getting an error with Heimdall that there's no firmware.xml.
Indeed the firmware from SamFiles does not contain any xml files.
Any idea how these can be obtained? Goggle does not seem to help.

you might be able to use odin in wine.. i never tried it tho.. heimdall i havent got to work either..
what firmware are you on? pie is pretty good at switchin csc based on sim inserted.. also crk3 i think it is you can access the csc.apk and change csc easily to any csc.. i havent found any other firmware it works on tho besides crk3..
if u can manage that, theres update.zips you can adb sideload but u need to b on specific firmware versions to update to certain firmwares..
i was messin around with firmwares and changed my csc to sprint.. i have vzw.. although it says roaming i am connected to verizon network so dont think its actually roaming but im not 100% sure
OK
Thanks everyone for help!
I was able to successfully flash using a Windows 10 VM running in Oracle VirtualBox VM. I used Odin v3.13_B. I did not re-partition.
I used this firmware:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note9/SM-N960U/VZW/download/N960USQS1ARJ9/242777/
There were no errors though after the phone rebooted it said there was an "unauthorized attempt" to install software.
It then tells me to connect to Wifi in order to verify my identity.
I cannot skip this process.
The Sprint firmware still seems to be present as I see Sprint applications. I am still roaming on Verizon though the port request was completed at least that's what they said at the store.
Interestingly the Sprint logo does not appear upon booting phone. Only the Samsung logo.
To remove Sprint firmware do I need to flash to the non-carrier firmware first before trying Verizon?
I sounds like someone else had the same problem with the SM-N960U.
The solution in that thread seems to be using the SM-N960U1 firmware.
Can anyone confirm this would be a safe fix to try?
SamMobile is a horrible website
I paid the 8 euro fee and the download for https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note9/SM-N960U1/VZW/download/N960U1UES1ARJ9/244757/ still takes like an hour.
It seems there's some Google phone protection targeted to deter thieves. That could be why it requires me to sign into the previous Google account after flashing.
I am removing my Google account from the phone, doing factory reset, then will try to flash Verizon firmware.
After flashing again it looks like some software called "Sprint OMDAM" still present on the phone. This loads after flashing. When I try to activate on network it comes up while the phone remains in roaming. Again Sprint unlocked the phone.
Should I re-partition?
OK
I wiped the cache partition and did factory reset.
I will yet again try another flash.
The Sprint logo is gone but Sprint apps still remain.
Should I try to re-partition the phone? I don't understand why Sprint applications are showing up when I flash Verizon firmware using Odin.
Make sure you have a Verizon SIM card in the phone.
1. Remove your accounts (Google and Samsung) under settings.
2. Factory reset under settings.
3. Download the U1 firmware using the SamFirm tool
4. Using modded ODIN 3.13.1B flash all four files (use CSC_OYN not the HOME_CSC file).
Optional, if you want WiFi calling and VoLTE:
Download the VZW N960U firmware using the SamFirm tool and flash it the same way using modded ODIN, but this time include the USERDATA file as well.
I think now on Verizon network after using U1 firmware!

Verizon G977U - Removed Carrier Bloat, Question about CSC

Hello, I have the Galaxy S10 5G on Verizon, SM-G977U. I'm currently running the latest Android 10 update: G977UVRS3YSL6. I moved away from Verizon and switched to T-Mobile, however I wanted to remove the carrier bloat, and potentially switch the CSC to XAA or TMO from VZW. I was able to remove all Verizon bloat by doing the following:
YOU MUST REMOVE YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT PRIOR TO THIS. YOU WILL TRIGGER GOOGLE FRP LOCK.
Opened the dialer and used the code *#272*IMEI-NUMBER#.
Saw two CSC codes, VZW - the active one, and a second one, GCF.
Switched to GCF, and the phone did a factory reset.
After the factory reset underneath Service provider SW ver. it listed GCF/GCF/VZW and all verizon carrier bloatware did not get installed.
So while that's nice to have removed the Verizon bloat, I wonder if I can take it one step further and switch the CSC to XAA or TMO. I'm lead to believe that I can change the CSC to one of those, because it appears since switching to GCF, also underneath Service provider SW ver. it lists the following: SAOMC_SM-G975U_OYN_GCF_PP_0009. This appears to be a Galaxy S10+ CSC code, would it then be possible to flash the SM-G975U or SM-G975U1 CSC codes onto the SM-G977U? And thus be able to change to XAA or TMO or any of the options of a unlocked firmware?
On doing your change from VZW to GCF, does that prevent OTA updates from Verizon?

I believe if you have VZW as your current carrier, as long as you still get service, you will continue to get OTA updates.
Thanks.

Also don't forget to remove your Google account from phone prior to this. It will reset and erase everything. You will trigger Google frp lock.

Hey, bud!
So I did the exact same process as OP in a Verizon s10 5G.
However, I made the mistake of not removing my Google account, when I start the phone I go through the process of select lenguage, blah blah, then choose wifi and click next it just loads and says I need to start the setup process again because I didn't log in to my Google account. However I'm not even able to type in anything, it just skips the whole typing process. I'm just stuck at setting up the phone... Can't do anything else. Do you know anything about this or how I can fix it? TIA
You'll have to Odin flash AT&T Firmware then back to Verizon I believe, or flash CSC. I don't quite remember.
I'm pretty certain it was flashing AT&T and then back to Verizon though, the reason for flashing the AT&T firmware is to force the CSC code to change, as VZW and GCF don't exist on the AT&T firmware.
Don't fret though, I did the same thing as you on my first attempt

When you changed to GCF, did this remove the Verizon boot logo?
How to remove that?
Hi there!
First of all, thank you for the explanation! Everything went perfectly and no bricking occured.
Nevertheless, there's something that doesn't seem to be working. Since the wiping, the Setup Wizard can't finish the process. It keeps crashing and on a loop. There's a notification I can't even remove.
Did you encounter this problem too?
I'm attaching screenshots of the error message I'm getting.
By the way, do you know if this process is reversible if your current carrier is not American? If yes, how could I do so?
Thanks a lot!
I also have the same situation. have you solved this problem yet. Can you show me

For anyone who might still be wanting to do this, if you run the command you will be prompted with 3 choices. Network and Sales change, just network, and dev.
If you want to remove all Verizon bloat, you have to select network and sales change, however you will run into the issue above. Where the set up wizard will fail and crash but you can still add google/samsung/etc accounts and full set up the phone. The notification doesn't go away and if you try and run it again, it will just keep crashing.
The 2nd choice that won't cause that issue is just the network change. Pretty much will enable all bands/sets phone into global mode for network settings. BUT it keeps the Verizon bloat. (personally went from 1 bar to 4 in my house with tmobile sim in Verizon software phone)
I personally settled with the 2nd and just disabled what I could. So I didn't have any constant notifications and wasn't limited to Verizon's bands after getting the device unlocked.
Just something to keep in mind for those who are planning on or have switched to ATT software, you only have the DEV option.

S20FE Not Updating since OneUi 3 and Android 11

Hello all.
My S20FE (SM-G780F) has not updated from OneUi 3 and Android 11. It always says that I'm using the latest software. I've tried factory resetting the phone and using Smart Switch to no avail.
I'm in the UK. Never lived anywhere else. I reside here permanently. It's where I bought my phone brand new.
I checked the service provider software version and it says ZT0/ZTO,ZTO/EUX . However, when I use the dialler method to check the same information it says the CSC is BTL3.
I researched and ZTO seems to refer to Brazil. I've never been to Brazil or anywhere in that vicinity so I don't know why it says ZTO as the service provider information.
Could this be why I'm having issues updating? If the phone thinks it's Brazilian then it would stop me updating if I'm in the UK? Is that correct?
Samsung suggested I send it to them to flash the drive but they require a proof of purchase and as I bought the phone over 2 years ago I can't for the life of me find the original order email.
Just for clarification the phone has never been rooted or modded and all software etc is "official." I've looked into flashing the software with Odin. Would I need ro download the update file for the CSC my phone says it is or for the CSC it should be? Do I only download the latest update or would I have to stack them and download all the previous ones my phone missed too?
Please help before I tear my hair out.
flashing the phone yourself with Odin is very easy, there are dozens of YouTube vids to get an idea from. actually downloading the firmware is more difficult.
whoever sold you the phone is who you should be angry at, it obviously wasn't intended for use here. let me know if you want help flashing!
Same thing happened to my Mom's phone (a Galaxy A series device).
Use this guide and manually flash the latest firmware.

S20FE rooted super weird problem

Hi, im kinda desperate cause i really dont know what to do , here is my issue:
I bought a second hand s20fe i didnt know but its rooted and i want to remove it
The problem is that i tried booting it to download mode removing the root and trying to flash a original samsung stock firmware from odin, but it keep getting a error. Well i realized that the phone original model is SM G780G
And that the software that it had , was the SM G780F
So i downloaded a software for the G780F and apparently it worked with odin
But i want the original G780G software... what can i do?

I'm pretty sure your problem is:
you want to install a system with wrong binary.
Go into download mode and see what binary you have.
After you are sure which binary has downloaded the system you need and that's it.
if you have binary 3
upgrade to binary 3
If you can show a photo of what binary you have to observe.

I would like to tell you the full problem tho if you are so kind to give me a hand. I bought the s20fe second hand and it was rooted with a patched imei (the box and the software imei didnt match), i checked both imei and they are not blocked , so the phone isnt stolen. But here is the thing, the model in the box says 780G, and this software is 780F, the soft and the imei doesnt match. I tried rooting and unrooting, but now i dont have signal and i still have the same imei and software version, i would like to switch to the original imei cause im sure im able to use it , as well i would like to install the proper software version.

the equipment is not G780G.
1.G780G goes up to binary 4
2.G781B arrives
up to binary 5
3.G781U /U1 /V / N / W . go up to binary A(10)
4.G780F reaches binary A(10)
your equipment is a G780F and not a G780G. You can never load a system from another team, only from your variant.
Download an example system:
G780FXXUAFWB6
Currently there is the binary B(11).
luck.
unfortunately
it was advisable to leave it as it was when buying it.
if everything worked fine, there was no need to update.
just leave it with the system that was already installed.
since to change the imei, chimeratools, z3x is used. etc
They are paid applications and experience is required for it.
I used the z3x, that's why I'm telling you.
I dont understand, cause the model is in the back of the phone...

I used the z3x, that's why I'm telling you.

Personally, it is impossible to install an exynos system on a snapdragon.
It's like putting the engine from one car to another, just like that.
the cover says one thing, your phone another.
the caps are interchangeable.
Those can be put from an s20 fe exynos to a snapdragon.
check well.
personally you have a G780F.
try not to upload to binary B(11)
you will have to pay to solve the problem.
install software that it had initially, if the system was binary 9, it will be impossible.
install

the interchangeable cap make sense and also solve the imei trouble, i will choose to believe in your experience. But logically, then the email should be the one that is on the software right? and not in the cap? i already installed that version you told me, but how can i restore the signal? i just need to restore that and i will be able to sleep cause ive been awake almost 10 hours trying to figure out this mess
I really don't know if you can fix it.
I think your equipment was only rooted. The signal always worked.
I never touched the imei of your equipment.
It may even be that you are presenting a software error. once going to binary B. you will not be able to return to binary A.
if the problem does not recover without any update. It could be a problem with the internal antennas.
that they are disconnected.
I realized the problem, the case was switched indeed. And the original imei was changed because it was blocked. Since i update to the most recent binary and there is no chance to downgrade that, i wont be able to use sim cards anymore or at least until there is a new versión for patching the signal. I dont know which program the technicians use so i dont know if im ever going to recover the phone. An awful purchase and a even better movement from my part trying to update the android and removing the root. Im just disappointed, i hope this thread helps someone to not make the same mistakes...
At this point i dont even mind to pay for a signal patch, but there isnt a update for the system they use to do it. If someone knows anything about it, would be pretty helpful.
I understand what you're saying:
As a technician I understand.
Always before making changes, you have to know what we are getting into.
If you already knew that the imei was repaired and patched, for nothing in the world to update.
as advice, do not upgrade to binary B
stay in binary A.
The solution will come out, it always comes out for computers with an unlockable bootloader.
stay on february patch one ui 5.1 with binary A.
The rest are security updates.
Before listening to me, check that the system does not contain bugs.
in the best of cases, repair and sell, buy a G780G or G781B
luck.
