I had a OP3 and a OP5 and after a turn with a Pixel 5, I'm looking to come back to OnePlus.
I see a ton of development for the OP Pro 9. When I clock on the Development filter for OP Pro 10, nothing comes up. Is this an XDA glitch or is there really no development for this device?
Because there is no published authentication for the MSM tool to bail you out from a bad custom ROM build. This is most likely NOT going to change. If you hard brick, only current option is to send back to OnePlus
Here's some similar topic discussion...
Why no custom ROMs yet?
Hello, I've been missing for quite a long time from XDA, but I'm about to get a new phone soon (maybe another OnePlus?) and I came here to check for new custom ROMs updates. But it seems I cannot find any custom ROM for the OnePlus 10 Pro (yet?)...

Thanks all for the explanations. That is downright tragic. Maybe Nothing will ramp up in the future as a viable alternative. Sad. I went with a heavily discounted Pixel 6 Pro.

According to David Y on OnePlus Official forums:
First, my answer to the question on the thread title:
Yes. OnePlus 3/3T will get Android O. OOS team are working on it, even new community app (not public yet) just finished the compatibility work for Android O last week.
Here are some update I'd like to share with you guys:
Currently the OOS team are focusing on the OBT program and Android O for OP3/3T, also stable updates for OP5. Next stable update for OP3/3T was planned, will be a minor update updated Android security patch level to August.
I will keep you all in the loop once I got some latest updates.

Well, unlike the OP2, the OnePlus 3 was much more successful, and had no hardware issues. Plus, due to the similarities in hardware (and consequently software) between the OnePlus 3 and the 3T, they can essentially provide support for 2 devices at the cost and effort of one. If they, for instance, decide to go back on their promise for some reason, they would be offending the owners of 2 devices at the same time. As explained earlier, there would be no logical reason in updating just the 3T and not the 3. Now the only way forward for OnePlus would be to deliver on the standard 18 month support promise. It WOULD however, be a miracle if OnePlus goes one step further and give us the P update too, whenever it comes out. Unlikely, but a man can dream...

the 1st time was a promise , this time is an official timeline, he stated what the development team is working on already , not what they intend to...so,
i get it was bad not to provide the OP2 with the N update, but the circumstances for the 3/T is different.

Totally agree drakonizer. :highfive:
Lets hope Android O isn't a mess, (like Lollipop was,) and that the final OS update for our devices is stable with good battery life. For the next year after it can be left untouched with just the security patch updated.
I also don't expect OP to update us to Android P.
If they do a blog like this I would love this! I do rather have Oneplus being honest to us with what they are planning and working on!
It's not like they having so many devices to update, so i don't see any problem they support 3/T further, to P maybe? why jack up the ram to 6 Gb and says it's for "future proofing" if the software alone isn't supported for long. this device is more than capable handling O and so on
Project Treble, as you've heard, is an amazing new update structure for Android devices and also can affect the speed and stability of Android development.
OnePlus has decided not to implement the current OnePlus devices with Project Treble, and they haven't given an explanation as to why they decided not to.
Project Treble can help the 3/3T as they are almost out of the OEM support days. If they do implement this, you may be looking at Android P ROMs for your device within days of the release of the AOSP commits.
Stand UP for your device and our responsibility as the community should be to bring support for our device for as long as possible. If OnePlus implements this, our device will be future proof for the aeons to come.
Your vote counts.

Sorry, I'm coming from the 3T forums, and I didn't search here for a mirror thread. I just wanted to spread the news of this petition as wide as possible.
Almost 11K, I don't think it'll be enough. But it seems that OnePlus is thinking about give us treble.
Today, Redmi Note 4 received an unofficial port for Project Treble. Having recieved an official announcement that OxygenOS will not offer this for 3T or even 5T for that matter, community developers are our last hope. And after the awesome news about Note 4, reigniting fresh discussions seeking information on enthusiasm/ possibility/ status of any work being done in this direction by any of our developers.

3/3T is very unlikely as there doesn't seem to be any partition that isn't left unused, while on the 5/5T I'm hearing reports that there is some empty partitions that could be re-purposed, but I would wait for official developer response on that.

You can partition phones to have any partition layout you want! A few older phones on XDA needed partitions changed because the newer android versions wouldn't fit.
I guess then safe repartitioning will hopefully be looked into as a serious and viable option coz the what Treble offers is immensely huge. And since a repartitioning based method will serve a wider range of phones, it becomes all the more meaningful to dedicate the efforts on it. But, as we know it's not as simple as a non-dev guy like me may make it sound and that developers do this in their spare time and don't get paid. So I guess we just wait and support such effort when it happens.
Not sure if Project Treble will be useful for our devices, since the well
1.) Project Treble is used for easier and quicker OTA updates from the OEM
2.) Project Treble can be great for devices that don't have it's Device Tree's/ Kernel Sources released, whereas our device has all those released.
The 3T has received it's complete cycle of OTA updates, and it has had it's Device Tree's released. There's no use for us getting Treble support.
I have an old mi note 5 pro which I gave to my girlfriend and that phone already has many stable android 10 ROMs, along with havoc and pixel experience, and it didn't even get an official android 10 update.
This phone has official android 10 from xiaomi but there aren't any aosp based ROMs on it. All the major ones have been abandoned and there aren't too many in general anyway. Why is that happening? Is it specifically hard to make ROMs for this phone?

what do you mean by dev support so bad?iff you can question dev like this "quote" (Is it specifically hard to make ROMs for this phone)..why dont you try to make one?dont throw stupid question on this forum..to make a custom rom first you need free time..second need a team to develop 1 rom..third you not getting paid for what you did (yes you can put your donation link in the post but not all user will donate to you..dumn kiddo
Basically stick with MIUI if you want a functional phone with updates for like 2 years. Then you can rely on 3rd party developers. But then again software for your device is not guaranteed. Or better should had bought OnePlus 7/t/pro instead. Xiaomi has a very bad record of updating their device. It's called planned obsolescence. It's better if you learn how to make ROMs if you want to keep your device updated. You can't trust and rely on anyone these days.
Cheaper devices which have lost support tend to get better dev support.
I'd imagine more android 10 roms when the official kernel sources for it are released. If it were never to get Android 10, then devs may see it worthwhile to backport kernels.

Let's not act like the folks at the MI forums and discuss it rationally instead of lashing out at OP.
My guess is that K20 series is rather new series and has lower salse than extremely successful devices like Note 5 pro. So it has smaller dev base and availability of raw materials yet.
Instead of giving cliche answers like "developers have life too", "why don't you make rom yourself".
Why can't we discuss lack of Android 10 roms for our device? OP asked the right question.
As far as I know, we don't have stable device tree for Q. Xiaomi doesn't release device trees. Abhishek(dev of LineageOS 10) has a working device tree but he wants to make it stable and then release the sources. Once he releases that i think then we will get more Q based custom roms.
Yeah It is not worthy changing to custom rom. Better stay on stock atm
Because it's still a rather new phone, atleast the global one. Custom ROMs in general seem to be dying, probably because official ROMs are getting better and better compared to the times when i had my HTC HD2.
I don't know why everyone is so butthurt about this post, I'm legitimately curious why this is happening. I'm not bashing the devs at all, maybe 10 year old children that can't even comprehend a text should stick to their telegram groups.
Thanks to everyone who posted something actually useful, it seems the official device tree hasn't been released it, hopefully xiaomi will take care of this soon.

At the moment there is a bit of inactivity whilst many devs are waiting for android 10 sources to be released by Xiaomi. I'm guessing most devs don't want to waste time working on fixing Pie ROMs when they know everyone will abandon them once stable 10 ROMs arrive.
Give it a month or so and you'll see done movement again.

Good point, I haven't considered that. This phone is very popular and I was really curious why there are so few custom ROMs, maybe we will get more goodies on android 10.

Really don't need this kind of rage, take it easy. I believe op was just asking. Just a curiosity... Despite your concerns about the words he used to start the talk. I believe it is pretty easy to understand he was not demanding anything from the good guys, the devs, or even trying to complaining about it.
Seems that there's no way to have a civilized conversation about it without getting someone any hassle, saying "why don't you develop? Douchebag".... Not first time I saw this. Weird thing indeed...

does anyone have an idea if anybody is working on porting miui 13 to G. pixel7 & pro?
usually the google phones get miui within weeks of release of the phone, but i haven't heard
any news on any dev or group talking about working on the rom.
if you have any info on this, please do post what you know with links for us that are interested
to check the info plz.
Guess not
Seriously, why would you want that? Sure, tastes are different, but why would you put a bloated, overstyled, ad-infected and closed source (MIUI Apps and Kits) ROM/OS on a Pixel device which comes with pure Android out of the box? MIUI was once a great ROM and a lot of fun... from 2010 to 2015 or '16 maybe. By now it's something I would really avoid. I understand if folks like Graphene OS, Lineage OS, ROMs based on AOSP on their Pixels. But hell no, I would not desecrate a Pixel with MIUI, Color OS... anything that comes from Xiaomi or BBK Electronics.

Happy to elaborate! Stock OS 13 sucks balls. OnePlus is the only company I seen as of yet who is able to keep the much desired options and functions intact. Android 13 overhauled the entire UI and continued the stupid trend of big, flashy, dumb and hidden , that all systems and devices tend to have. Making everything bigger, harder to find and remove functions that many powers users love is the common trend. I'm up for trying a new ROM that mimicks OnePlus that could potentially give more function and features back. I've never tried MIUI yet but praying for changing out.

You may not have noticed, but BBK Electronics is the company behind Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme und iQOO and their stock ROMs are going to have or have the same base, which will or has change(d) things for Oxygen OS. BBK is a big ass company, and the Oxygen OS from the original OnePlus has lost it's soul when Oppo merged with OnePlus. BBK is up to max profits, so they try to save money on development and Oxygen OS / Color OS and all that stuff will be (almost) the same I guess. I had a OnePlus 9, and when I realized they did not implement OIS on the regular 9 to upsell the pro model it was the deathblow after being annoyed by the newer OnePlus stuff. I had a Realme GT 2 Pro, and those ROMs are OKish, but having a Pixel somehow feels more like the real thing.
Regarding Xiaomi/MIUI ... why do people get a Pixel 7 and not a Mi 12 Pro, if they prefer some bloated kindergarten OS like MIUI? I had the first MIUI ROMs on my HTC desire back then, was an admin of 2 german MIUI forums, translating the ROM and what not, but as Xiaomi got bigger the overall concept of MIUI/Xiaomi went down the drain and I started to avoid Xiaomi. Sure, they got a lot of cool gadgets and stuff, but screw that company for so many reasons.
Just read today, that the first nightly of Lineage OS is available for Panther... maybe give that one a try before wishing for MIUI. If there would be a MIUI ROM for the newer Pixels, let's hope it would be based on the xiaomi.eu ROM.
Why not just buy a xiaomi phone. I used to love MIUI and Xiaomi things, but not now. I like Xiaomi 13 and will not buy pixel 7 if Xiaomi 13 has some custom rom with well support
