I am on the phone with sprint, they are sending me a new hero with 1.5 this week. Woot!

okay I recently got my phone and upgraded to 2.1 from the sprint website before I learned what rooting was. I don't want to do anything fancy I just want to get rid of the pre-installed apps that I don't need so the phone will run faster, is there a way to get this done now?

-Until the Jelly Bean source code becomes available in a few weeks,
it's not a suitable device for custom builds.
-To get into fastboot, hold the Power button for one second, release
it, and quickly press VolumeDown when the Google logo appears.
-When flashing via fastboot, run "fastboot erase" on each partition
before flashing that partition, as the bootloader doesn't do it
automatically.
-I'm hoping to make a factory image of the preview build available
after Google I/O.
-We already have the necessary licenses from NVIDIA and Broadcom for
AOSP Jelly Bean to run and access WiFi on Nexus 7, once it's released.

I think the last point is the most significant, we shouldn't have ANY issues with our AOSP custom builds!

Hey all, I've been flashing Roms for ages but I'd love to start making Roms. I've been watching tutorials. but none have been of much use to me. I can use command prompt etc, and i have done a bit of programming. So, could you guys link me to some useful tutorials or even teach me yourself? Thanks guys!
BTW, my ultimate aim would be a fully functioning ICS Rom!

Most of time it's because the phone is not correctly installed to your comp, try to reinstall drivers, i've used the same method and it's worked perfectly at the first attempt.

Actually, did you extract the zip file?

LOL. Not everyone here is a developer. You're posting here and you clearly aren't.
As for respecting others, perhaps you should follow your own advice, rather than stating that people here should feel some sort of embarrassment because they haven't provided you with the level of support that you clearly think you're entitled to.

Yes Beta builds are only supported at the moment. I don't have a device to test the older builds. If anyone wants to add the feature I would be glad to merge.

Hello I would like to give this a shot, this is a silly noob question but I wanted to be clear before I try. To execute the python command, is this same process of opening CMD in ADB/fastboot folder? If so I am not exactly clear as what to type to run the command. Is it just >>bash
python root.py<< and all good or ....? Thanks you in advance for any assistance provided.

Install Python 2
https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-2714/
Then, if using Windows OS, run the script in Powershell or CMD
Thanks I will give it a shot in a bit and reply back, Thanks for the rapid response.
interesting I installed python from the link provided and ran the command in CMD and it spits back 'bashpython' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

How can you be asking this question in a support forum, in a thread specifically about how to automate the root process? While this thread is surrounded by other threads with custom kernels and custom roms?
Please don't buy this phone. You need root. This community does not need you
