Hi all, today i bought redmi k20 pro (Indian). Bootloader unlocked.
Now, i want to flash twrp but i don't know which one is best? Official or unofficial? And which version?
I don't want custom rom. Need only rooted official miui rom.
Also want to pass safetynet. As of now, not rooted.
Thanks
My K20 pro will reach to me by 2-3 days and I too want to know which version of TWRP is the most stable for this device. The only difference is, I am planning to unlock the BL and flash EvoX or PE as soon as I get my hands on the device. I will try to find out the most stable TWRP for MIUI 12. If I find the answer, I will post here. Thank you.
Update: The official TWRP is the one developed/maintained by @mauronofrio
Link: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/raphael/twrp-3.4.0-1-raphael.img.html (TWRP 3.4.0-1)
You can also use https://eu.dl.twrp.me/raphael/twrp-3.4.0-0-raphael.img.html (TWRP 3.4.0-0)
You can use any of the two on MIUI 12.
For miui, go for orangefox 11, has ota support

Decryption is supported on Android 10 based ROMs I believe. Not sure about Android 11 though. You can ask the developer here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363
you can use mauronofroi'twrp, then go to latest ofox.
use my guide if you like https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/simple-beginners-guide-to-raphaelin-t4020543
and yes android 11 has dfe support and working magisk
The best "TWRP" is the OrangeFox Recovery, because its based on TWRP, but have many feature, what not contained in TWRP.
Decrypt/encrypt support, theme support, OTA support, force disable stock recovery, so you won't has problem and you will have many customization option.
1. Unzip the zip file what you downloaded through OrangeFox's xda thread and copy the img - which is in the unzipped file - to the adb directory.
2. Remember the name of the .img, because you will write this in the command
3. Follow any instruction which is write down recovery install with adb method
4. When you will write the last command, change the end recovery.img for your download file's name.
Should looks like this, for example:
./fastboot flash recovery orangefox.img
5. Reboot to OrangeFox Recovery, the recovery will automatically reboot again and it will installed.
6. Ready to use when booted up.
Hello everyone,
as many of you, I also want to lock my bootloader after finding that my X2 Pro bought used few days ago was unlocked and with TWRP installed.
It was stuck to Color OS 6 with security patch updated at february and it had installed Magisk.
I tried to flash Realme UI but I couldn't because it had installed official TWRP and not the right one.
I formatted everything and after some hours of research and trials I managed to install Realme UI with security patches updated (october).
Now, I don't have TWRP but official recovery instead. No signs of Magisk and any other data because I formatted everything few time during my flashing trials.
I don't have fingerprint and face recognition, I think due to the fact the bootloader is unlock, yet.
To overcome this, I found a video-guide used for X2 (not Pro) in which I saw that after flashing the Realme UI, rebooting recovery and formatting data, those sensors worked again but with X2 Pro this procedure won't work.
To recap: I have official firmware and recovery, no fingerprint and face recognition. I think that I can use the official guide for locking the bootloader again as the app says that I can roll-out from the in-depth program.
Was someone in my situation? I mean, locking the bootloader with FP and FU disabled before relocking?
I ask this because I found a thread in which the user said that it was necessary to make FU and FP work again before locking the bootloader.
I had this phone for less than a week and I can't take a decision.
Thank to anyone in advance.
you must now download the FASTBOOT format of Android9 pie rom (6gb) and use REALME FLASHER which will
1. place original recovery
2. flash all partitions and downgrade your device to android pie (Color OS 6.1)
reboot
test you onscreen fb and other sensors while on setup ( IT SHOULD WORK) because you are on stock recovery! and vbmeta.img is untouched
now install DEEP testing and wait, it will check your device (use 4g data sim / NOT WIFI)
click end deep testing!
this will RELOCK your bootloader, (while you are on Original recovery ) and wipe all the data!
now your device is locked again!,
download ROM (recovery rom) from realme site, for latest REALME UI ( this file will be OPPO encrypted 3gb of .0zip) but since you are on stock recovery, you can use it to flash it.
reboot again to the NEWEST Realme ui and check the fingerprint sensor
now install DEEP TESTING APK again and try unlocking the BOOTLOADER, once unlocked the the DATA will be WIPED AGAIN
now you are on REALME UI (latest), stock recovery, no partitions altered and you will be taken to SETUP again,
your FB should work!
join this text and see the guide (xda keep sensoring it so i had to break it)

OMG tahnk you so much for your help.
I didn't receive any notification of your reply so I couldn't answer you before.
Before reading your reply I successfully locked the bootloader with REALME UI on it but FP and FU doesn't work.
I thought that it may be caused by the fact that bootloader was unlocked with Colors OS 6.1 (Android 9) and then I relocked it with Realme UI 1.0 (Android 10).
For this operation I used the official tool usable only with Android 10.
Do you think I should unlock the bootloader again, downgrade to Color OS 6.1, lock the bootloader and only then update my device to Realme UI?
If so, how can I downgrade the Android version? With their flashing tool it can't be done.
Hope you well and thank you in advance for your help.
Dude try this,
Download Realme flash tools here from my Google Drive:

Now download OFP file to use with the flash tool here:

Boot into bootloader and flash it. See if it helps.
Hi guys, i just flashed (with a light wipe) the last rom for my Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (obtained on the update section of parameters) and i first lost all my config.
So, i decided to restore the backup i made just before flashing and here is the drama, it boot directly into TWRP and i can't seem to find my storage anymore (tried file manager)
TWRP also tells me that no OS is installed, please help, i'm desperate
I think the first step is to recover access to internal sdcard, and maybe then i can restore a backup
Thank you !
simply, Fastboot and install official rom using mi flash tool.
thats one of the penalties you'd pay of installing eu rom.

Thank you very much, sir !
Will try this and post the result, maybe with a little tuto if it's not already everywhere ^^
So, tried 5 times and not once a good result, the better i can obtain is 12.5.7.0 global working, flashed with xiaomitool. TWRP ok, and i will try Magisk next.
Every other tries solded by an sdcard/os/data loss T_T
That's a mystery. I ran on 12.5.17.0 all fine before this incident and i cannot get it work anymore :/
I obtained rom from https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=321331
TWRP from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586336381
Also tried this method again (this was my first method and it worked like a charm till this 12.5.20.0... )

The problem with global is it seems to be greatly outdated (patch from 2021.09, that's a huge security risk to be months backward nowadays, let aside bug correction, new functionnality, etc)
I can't seem to find a more recent global version (updater within settings tells me there's no more up to date version).
Do someone have an idea, please ? :/
What i'm doing :
1. put device on fastboot mode
2. launch xiaomitool and flash 12.5.7.0 global rom
3. reboot into fastboot
4. launch xiaomi unlock and unlock device
5. boot TWRP with fastboot boot twrp.img in cmd (command returned all ok)
6. into "soft" TWRP, One Key Inject TWRP
7. into "hard" TWRP > install and give it the .zip rom file
8. after the rom installed, all broken again :/
Hi,
there is no TWRP-ROM available for the Ultra - it's still in fastboot-ROM phase.
Flash via fastboot. Unlocking is just needed once until relocking with orig. ROM.
(Optionally) Copy boot.img from ROM-folder to phone.
Use Magisk to patch boot.img
Flash patched boot.img to boot_a and boot_b via fastboot.
Wait until TWRP-compatible-zip's for the Ultra to begin to appear.

That sure seem a simple task
You're telling me that i can, from my 12.5.7.0 global, patch the boot.img (90mb) from the 12.5.20.0 eu with magisk, flash this with fastboot and that it will work ?
Seems too wonderfull to be true XD
EDIT:
My bad, you said "optionnally", not "alternatively"
So, i'm stuck here, i don't know and can't seem to find the fastboot cmd to install the xiaomi eu rom in .zip format
Do you know it please ?
In all the 11 Ultra A12 weekly EU ROMs, the format is fastboot only. Just extract the .zip file to a folder on your desktop, connect your phone in fastboot mode, power on and vol down and then click on the update bat file. If your coming from a different branch, click on the update and format bat file ( the bat files will be in the upper most extracted folder). It is a simple as that .

Not 100% sure but it's probably because your device is encrypted which is the default behavior of miui when you setup your lockscreen method.

It is better to enter the password every time as this will enhance your security in case you lose your phone they won't find the password is decrypted therefore they can't access your data.
But still there is another way they might access your data and that if your bootloader is unlocked usually the best way to protect yourself is to leave the password in twrp and lock your bootloader.

What issues? Could you be more specific? I have both and I don't have any issues...
i have Tried as below:
Option1: Tried to boot Twrp after that go to Advanced > Flash Current TWRP > Done Magisk was missing so flashed Magisk from Twrp.
Not booting on system
Option2: Flashed TWRP on SLOT A & SLOT B and now messed up
This unofficial version of TWRP + Magisk root seems to cause network problems for me as the mobile connection dropped from 4G(LTE) to 2G(EDGE).
Using Magisk root without TWRP works like a charm.
Anyone else facing this issue?
I flashed the latest magisk on this TWRP and no problem facing.

OK... I can try that.
exactly. i connected with adb and checked with adb devices, then pushed the twrp image to the phone and booted off of it through fastboot. if it works booting off of the img it's pretty safe to flash
To flash a custom recovery on Spes, you need to first run the following command in fastboot on the pc:
fastboot boot XXX.img (this is the name of twrp/ofox/Shrp image)
then inside the recovery, you must go to advanced and select the option flash this twrp, with that the recovery is installed by default. But remember that every time you install a new rom, the recovery will change, so you should flash twrp every time you finish installing a new rom.

This is actually pretty tricky. I found 5 different recoveries for spes/n:
OrangeFox-R11.1_A12.1-Unofficial-spes.img
twrp_v.3.6.2_11_spes-2022.08.14.img
twrp-3.6.2_12-0-spes-Jabiyeff.img
twrp-3.7.0_12-0-spes-dblenk9.img
and the one and only working one:
twrp_3.6.1-spes.img (google it), my SHA256 is: 27335ab466fadb458e090bce098b3bc9302b2876d0faf392371a23bf6fe902c
Only with this last one I was able to successfully decrypt my existing (PIN protected!) data partition of the following ROM I currently use: MIUI Global 13.0.13.0 (RGKEUXM)
I hope this helps anybody.
Also I just installed Magisk 25.2 zip via this TWRP version and its working like a charme.
Edit: Flash TWRP via fastboot with the following fastboot command:
"fastboot boot twrp.img"
twrp.img is the name of your twrp file.. this will boot up this TWRP and You can directly check if You can decrypt ur existing data partition.. if You succeed then go to Advanced and click on "Flash current TWRP"

3.6.1 only works for MIUI A11 ROMs
3.6.2 only works for AOSP and A12 MIUI (but no for MIUI ROM flashing)
3.7.0 fully works for any ROM except A11

Both the TWRP 3.6.2-12.1 and TWRP 3.7.0_12-0-spes works on my phone (SPES Global)
I am on android 12 version of MIUI 13. In fact I used the TWRP 3.7 to flash MIUI13.EU 13.0.5 A12 ROM and it works.
The two versions above can decrypt my phone without any problem. MTP also works in recovery mode.
Your phone is using Android 11. Probably that's the reason the TWRP versions I've mentioned above does not work for you.
I tend to agree with NeoSDAP.
