Flash recovery without USB-C (S10e) - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

It looks like USB-C port of my S10e is faulty. It charge phone, but not transfer any data. I tried 4 different cables. PC wont recognize connected phone, Odin shows empty ports, settings in device has USB settings grayed out. Even after factory reset.
So I guess there is no way to flash different recovery without working data on USB port?

Have you tried on other USB ports on the computer?

Sure.

Then I don't know. Maybe take the phone in for service? Is Developer mode on? Is USB debugging enabled? When you connect your phone and PC, it should ask you to approve the connection. If he doesn't look for it, I think he should look for it. I did it a long time ago, so I don't remember very well.

Sell it to someone who does not need data transfer via USB would be more cost effective. Repairing USB port on S10e is ridiculously expensive.

Jig works but not charge or pc conection

This is weird, I though my phone had a complete non funtional usb port because it does not charge or make conection with the pc.
The other day I tried the JIG and it got me to the download screen. So, it seems that my usb port is somehow still working (or something like that).
So, what could be the problem with my USB?

Check if your USB pins are dirty, perhaps clean them even if they don't seem like it (nothing with water!).
If that doesn't work, my guess is that your pins 1-3 are dead and need new USB port.

Bought jig...in download mode, pc wont recognize

I have tried different computers, 3 to be exact and once I take out the jig then plug in the cable the pc wont recognize it is even there and so then i cant get Odin working...any suggestions? im reinstalling the samsung captivate drivers soon downloading those now

Not using original cable but it works to charge through the PC so why would it not be recognized as a device?

Power and data pins are different. The cable may charge your device, but it doesn't guarantee data transfer to work. Many cables use MicroUSB connectors, but no all cables have all pins connected. I have an LG charger that works with no issues on LG phone but can't charge Captivate. In the same time Blackberry charger and USB cable both work fine with Captivate. I have also a generic USB cable that can charge Captivate but doesn't provide data transfer. Original Samsung cable works for charging and data as expected. I think you should try with another USB cable.

"Fastboot AC" no PC or Mac seems to recognize my phone!

Hi all. I'm running Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6 on InsertCoin - S-OFF. It's been fine for about a full year now - I havent touched ROM/firmware in about 6 months. Just this past week, the device is no longer recognizing any PC connections - it still charges fine with any USB plug, but seems to think every connection is an AC charger. Nothing pops up on my phone or the computer (mac or PC). I have USB debugging on.
ADB does not see the device, in normal boot or in Fastboot.
Fastboot on the phone says "Fastboot AC" where it used to say "Fastboot USB"
Is this a software issue I can rectify from the phone? I have TWRP and root, so I can perform certain things on the device itself. Or should I go to T-Mobile and try to get a replacement (I have insurance on the device)

Are you sure you are using a usb data cable and not only a usb charging cable? Usb data cable have 5V+, Ground, Data+ and Data- connections. Charging cable only have 5V+ and Ground connection and will not be able to communicate with the device. You can test your capble on another device to confirm the cable have data capabilities (using a camera for example or any other device with a micro usb port).
Even if you are sure that you are using a data usb cable, you might want to try another one, maybe that one you are using is defective.

Thanks - yes, I tested this on my Nexus 7 too. All 3 cables I tried connect the N7 to both the Mac and PC fine, I was able to flash an OTA to it. However, the same 3 cables product no results for the HTC One M7.

it doenst sounds good, maybe a defective usb port on your phone... Maybe some dirt inside? Try to clean your port with a cotton swab and Isopropyl alcohol

tmobile note 4 usb doesn't connect even with correct drivers, and it charges slow

I'm not sure if I can ask samsung for warranty, I just have this phone as a backup.
Any suggestions on how to fix the USB port so it picks up on the computer? at least it charges..

You may want to try different cables and different USB ports or try the same with other phones to see if those get picked up. It'll let you know if it's your cable that's faulty or your actual phone.
Tried all cables. It won't pick up at all.
At least it charges and Knox isn't tripped on this phone.

V40 USB issue

The problem just started.
What works:
1. Low speed charging
2. Access to OTG memory card
Not Working:
1. Connecting to PC. Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) The PC has the correct LG driver.
2. Fast Charging
3. Android Auto USB mode. Phone won't negotiate with the car.
I have cleaned the USB port with electronic cleaner and sand paper. It made no difference. The port wasn't dirty to start with. I have not done factory reset since the problem looks more likely to be hardware.
Any suggestion?
Cord gone bad?

Not the cord. Already tried several. The cords work fine in fast-charge mode and Android auto with other phones.

So, has this device connected to the mentioned PC before? If so, and nothing has changed (like driver update etc), then, sorry to say, but it absolutely sounds like the usb port is an issue.
Even if out of warranty, I'd plead my case to LG. That shouldn't happen. Has it gotten wet? Is any part loose in there?
good luck
I also have a USB problem, but mine keeps asking what I want to use the USB connection for i.e. charging, power supply, file transfer, photo transfer or MIDI device. And the wireless charging doesn't work either.

I got the same problem, I tried to work around the USB port and it fixed itself. Probably got some dust in the port. Try to tug the cable a bit and reconnect. Or you can try different cable.
